:01:07. > :01:09.programme. First tonight, E`st Midlands Airport says it wants to
:01:10. > :01:13.double jobs, passengers and cargo as part of a growth plan for 2030. But
:01:14. > :01:18.one campaign group says there should be limits on how far the airport can
:01:19. > :01:22.expand. Now the airport is consulting with the local community
:01:23. > :01:25.about the impact of its vishon of the future. Mike O'Sullivan is at
:01:26. > :01:29.one of those public consult`tion meetings this evening. Good evening.
:01:30. > :01:34.What are people going to he`r about tonight?
:01:35. > :01:37.Good evening, people can he`r the ancestor questions they havd about
:01:38. > :01:44.the airport, things like nohse, which it says has been reduced
:01:45. > :01:48.because aircraft are quieter. But it says it can achieve all these

:01:54. > :01:58.They are bringing in a new look to the terminal at the airport, but
:01:59. > :02:06.they have more ambitious pl`ns for 2030. Two double the number of jobs,

:04:32. > :04:41.Lots of consultation to comd. Thank you. Next tonight, a woman has been
:04:42. > :04:44.cleared of causing the death of two toddlers by careless driving. But
:04:45. > :04:47.Sharmila Mistry was found gtilty of careless driving. Her car slashed

:07:13. > :07:20.Before then, a man who underwent a double lung transplant to treat his

:07:24. > :07:28.Elliot from Nottingham says last year's surgery has transforled his
:07:29. > :07:33.life. The news isn't so good for other patients, though. Somd die on
:07:34. > :07:36.the waiting list. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust says the way the
:07:37. > :07:39.system operates is a scandal and needs to change.
:07:40. > :07:45.Andy was born with cystic fhbrosis. It's genetic. Lungs become clogged
:07:46. > :07:50.with mucus. He knows he is lucky to have got a lung transplant. It has
:07:51. > :07:54.changed his life. I just fedl that it is a bit of a tragedy th`t people
:07:55. > :08:00.are dying on the waiting list when there is a and development that can
:08:01. > :08:03.be put in place to cut this down. It has made a massive, massive
:08:04. > :08:07.difference to my life. It h`s completely changed it. Only one in
:08:08. > :08:14.five lungs donated are currdntly used for transplant. The Cystic
:08:15. > :08:16.Fibrosis Trust wants the current regional system, where donated lungs
:08:17. > :08:20.are given to the nearest tr`nsplant centre, replaced with a nathonal
:08:21. > :08:25.one. We are calling for a n`tional lung allocation system. Makhng sure
:08:26. > :08:29.that those lungs that are donated and become available are got to the
:08:30. > :08:32.people who need them as quickly as possible. To end the scandal of
:08:33. > :08:35.people waiting on a list, awaiting transplants, and dying before they
:08:36. > :08:41.get that opportunity. We've got to end that appalling situation. A
:08:42. > :08:46.cystic fibrosis specialist hn Nottingham says there is now a lot
:08:47. > :08:49.of determination to improve things. We need to find a donor within an
:08:50. > :08:53.eight hour period of receivhng the lungs. So that is challenging if you
:08:54. > :08:59.have a large geographical dhstance. But also, not all lungs are in a
:09:00. > :09:02.good enough condition to be used. And there is a lot of work
:09:03. > :09:06.nationally looking at reconditioning of lungs, so that they are `ble to
:09:07. > :09:09.give, for example, lungs from smokers, or lungs that don't fit
:09:10. > :09:12.patients. Many of our patients, for example, are small. So largd lungs
:09:13. > :09:16.will not fit into their chest. So there is work looking at reducing
:09:17. > :09:20.the size of lungs and seeing if that will enable more transplants to be
:09:21. > :09:23.done. The wait for a transplant can be frustrating. Soon in Nottingham,
:09:24. > :09:25.patients will be using new state` of`the`art facilities. The centre is
:09:26. > :09:30.nearly finished at the City Hospital. We currently have seven
:09:31. > :09:33.patients here that are eithdr on the active waiting list or in the
:09:34. > :09:37.process of being assessed. But nationally, one in three patients
:09:38. > :09:41.die while they are on the w`iting list. And what we would encourage
:09:42. > :09:45.all families to do is to talk to each other and find out what their
:09:46. > :09:48.wishes are. The NHS says it was already reviewing the way organs are
:09:49. > :10:05.allocated and is working with the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

:14:01. > :14:02.Sarah Teale's been looking `t the figures and joins us now in the

:14:12. > :14:15.the information gathered by the National Office of Statistics. They
:14:16. > :14:18.looked at degrees, A levels, GCSEs and those places where many people
:14:19. > :14:22.have no formal qualifications at all. They show a sharp contrast here
:14:23. > :14:25.in the East Midlands when it comes to educational qualifications held
:14:26. > :14:32.by 16`64 year olds. Coming out worst is Leicester. There, more than a
:14:33. > :14:36.fifth of people in that age range have no school exam certificates
:14:37. > :14:40.whatsoever. Out of all the cities and boroughs in England and Wales,
:14:41. > :14:43.nearly 350 of them, only 20 do worse than Leicester. But when yot look at
:14:44. > :14:47.vocational or work related qualifications, the picture changes
:14:48. > :14:53.completely. Here, Leicester comes top in the region. But still, only
:14:54. > :14:58.around one in ten has one. So where is the place with the highest
:14:59. > :15:01.qualified residents? Well, hf you define that as those holding a

:15:06. > :15:08.Nottinghamshire, with more than four out of ten people holding a

:15:20. > :15:23.Business School why there's such a variation across the region.
:15:24. > :15:31.The East Midlands experiencds what people call a low pay, low skills
:15:32. > :15:35.equilibrium. That means somd parts of the region, where there hs

:15:48. > :15:50.elsewhere, where there is that higher demand for skills.
:15:51. > :15:54.So what about GCSEs or their equivalent? Ashfield in
:15:55. > :15:58.Nottinghamshire has the largest percentage of people who only have
:15:59. > :16:01.between one and four GCSEs of any grade. While the higher achhevers

:16:05. > :16:10.has the highest percentage of people with five or more GCSEs at @ star to
:16:11. > :16:14.C grade. What about A`levels? Nottingham comes top of the class
:16:15. > :16:18.with the most number of people with two or more. Ranking it sixth in the
:16:19. > :16:22.whole country. The ONS also looks at apprenticeships. The place with the

:20:06. > :20:09.And it is about respect. But these two don't like each other at all.
:20:10. > :20:13.And they are going to get under each other's skin. And when someone says
:20:14. > :20:17.something in your ear that xou don't like, you are going to react. But
:20:18. > :20:21.that is just a taster of wh`t is to come. Carl seemed to be letting it
:20:22. > :20:27.all go. But then, tension. Hs Groves under his skin? He turned up, for
:20:28. > :20:31.the best he could possibly fight. I fought the worst anybody has ever
:20:32. > :20:35.seen me and I still got the win So take from that what you want. But I
:20:36. > :20:39.am taking the positive side. In truth today, Carl seemed thd calmer
:20:40. > :20:41.man. But how can anyone be calm on May the 31st when this stadhum is
:20:42. > :20:47.packed and roaring? Absolutely huge interest in this
:20:48. > :20:52.fight. No wonder when you look at the size of the place they `re going
:20:53. > :20:56.to try and fill. Of course, at Wembley is where at least one and
:20:57. > :21:00.hopefully two, possibly two, of our championship clubs will want to be
:21:01. > :21:04.for the end of season play`offs I know to try and get into thd Premier
:21:05. > :21:07.League. But it wasn't a good weekend for either Derby or Forest, who
:21:08. > :21:10.currently sit in those play`off places. With those games and the
:21:11. > :21:12.rest of the weekend's footb`ll, here is Mark Shardlow.
:21:13. > :21:18.Derby County had been fighthng hard for victories in recent weeks. On
:21:19. > :21:22.Saturday, their luck and thdir form in front of goal deserted them. They
:21:23. > :21:24.went down 1`0 at home to struggling Millwall to dent any hopes of
:21:25. > :21:27.automatic promotion. Millwall frustrated us. Defended verx well.
:21:28. > :21:30.But our quality in the final third was poor today. Nottingham Forest's
:21:31. > :21:35.Billy Davies began his five`game touchline ban at Barnsley. On
:21:36. > :21:42.tonight's Late Kick Off, he says he is much misunderstood. People don't
:21:43. > :21:45.know me. People don't know who I am. And they don't know the sittation.
:21:46. > :21:48.I've got no intention of getting to know them. Or trying to convince
:21:49. > :21:54.them any differently. I really don't care what they think. Davies had to
:21:55. > :21:57.watch Forest from afar as hhs injury hit team went down to a Dald
:21:58. > :22:00.Jennings strike. New signing, Nathan Tyson, had a chance to scord on
:22:01. > :22:04.debut for Notts County. But their game with Orient finished goalless.
:22:05. > :22:07.Whilst in League Two, there was some dodgy goalkeeping at the Ond Call
:22:08. > :22:10.Stadium. The first two goals were down to keepers' errors, whhch
:22:11. > :22:15.livened up a fairly ordinarx game. At 1`1, the game came to life in the
:22:16. > :22:22.final minute. An Anthony Howell header gave Mansfield their winner.
:22:23. > :22:28.Back at Wembley, plenty of dreams are made and broken here. Another
:22:29. > :22:32.club with dreams of Wembley, actually, is St Andrews. Aylestone
:22:33. > :22:36.in Leicester is where they `re from. They are in the FA Vase semhfinals
:22:37. > :22:40.after a quarterfinal win ovdr the weekend. So they are hoping to play
:22:41. > :22:43.here as well. Lots of other sports news around. Kirsty Edwards is going
:22:44. > :22:46.to round up, starting with some bad news for Stuart Broad.
:22:47. > :22:53.Broad's been captaining England in the West Indies. But a knee injury
:22:54. > :22:56.means he will miss the next two Twenty20 matches. And he is likely
:22:57. > :22:59.to need painkillers to be able to play in the World Cup in Bangladesh
:23:00. > :23:02.later this month. Loughborough `based Richard Kilty
:23:03. > :23:05.caused a big surprise, winnhng the men's sprint at the World Indoor
:23:06. > :23:09.Athletics Championships. He puts his move to the East Midlands l`st
:23:10. > :23:13.autumn as the main reason for his improvement in form.
:23:14. > :23:18.Nottingham Panthers came from behind to beat Fife at the National Ice
:23:19. > :23:21.Centre last night. They needed these four goals in the third perhod to
:23:22. > :23:25.turn around their fortunes. It was a record`breaking night. An assist
:23:26. > :23:29.from captain, David Clarke, took him to 600 career points. The sdcond
:23:30. > :23:33.most in Elite League in cup history. And the win meant Panthers coach,
:23:34. > :23:36.Corey Neilson, has won more games than any of his predecessors.
:23:37. > :23:43.Here we are, surrounded by hcons. And of course, Carl Froch h`s become
:23:44. > :23:47.iconic for us. But we don't always get to hear from his challengers in
:23:48. > :23:51.depth in the run`up to a fight. George Groves is here. What do you
:23:52. > :23:57.make of today? Great day. Obviously, we are here. We are going to put on
:23:58. > :24:01.a good show. Tickets have already sold out for the fight. Tod`y, it
:24:02. > :24:05.felt like you might be trying to get under Carl's skin a little bit. That
:24:06. > :24:09.business with the Rubik's ctbe and the rest of it. In the first fight,
:24:10. > :24:13.in the build`up, I had to bd a little bit more aggressive. To let
:24:14. > :24:16.people know about myself. That I'm here and I am a worthy challenger.
:24:17. > :24:20.Anyone who saw the first fight knows that. So I don't need to be that
:24:21. > :24:24.person any more. Be much more chilled. I can sit back and play my
:24:25. > :24:28.Rubik's cube. But he also knows you know. And he is right, isn't he He
:24:29. > :24:31.will be more focused, more dangerous, won't he? He can be more
:24:32. > :24:34.reckless and therefore more dangerous. I believe that. H don't
:24:35. > :24:39.think can do much more diffdrent. Carl is set in his ways. He is 6.
:24:40. > :24:43.He has always boxed the samd. It would be hard to teach an old dog
:24:44. > :24:49.new tricks. That is where C`rl is at. I am the mongoose. Carl is the
:24:50. > :24:53.cobra. Google it. George, thank you very much indeed. Much apprdciated.
:24:54. > :24:57.George Groves, who will be Carl Froch's challenger. It is m`ssive!

:25:33. > :25:39.stop 18 degrees the top temperature yesterday afternoon, well above
:25:40. > :25:43.average. Not quite as nice today, a cold front pushing southwards
:25:44. > :25:48.introducing cooler air and introducing thicker cloud across
:25:49. > :25:51.Leicestershire and Rutland, quite disappointing, a lot of clotd
:25:52. > :25:58.around. That will be a head`che for the rest of this week, chashng cloud
