:00:14. > :00:18.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Anne Davies. Barnado's

:00:19. > :00:24.have been sexually exploited via have been sexually exploited via

:00:25. > :00:26.social media. They've begun a new campaign which coincides with a

:00:27. > :00:31.hard`hitting play being performed in schools across Leicestershire. It

:00:32. > :00:35.shows just how easy it is to become a victim of sexual grooming. In

:00:36. > :00:38.moment we'll hear from Clive Chambers from Barnado's about the

:00:39. > :00:48.scale of the problem, but first here's Sarah Teale. Not unless you

:00:49. > :00:53.want me to tell everyone. Please don't tell my mum and dad. These

:00:54. > :00:56.schoolchildren are gripped by a powerful drama about a teenage girl

:00:57. > :01:04.unwittingly sucked into an abusive relationship will stop called

:01:05. > :01:09.Chelsea's Choice, the gritty play is a campaign to highlight the problem

:01:10. > :01:12.of sexual exploitation. Their headlines were hit by this after a

:01:13. > :01:17.gang in Derby were jailed for cruising the streets and preying on

:01:18. > :01:20.vulnerable girls as young as 12. This play, performed to pupils at

:01:21. > :01:25.this community college in Leicester, shows that anyone can be

:01:26. > :01:29.a victim. It's amazing how they get people to do what they want and how

:01:30. > :01:35.they manipulate them. I've learned all the different types of how

:01:36. > :01:38.people sexually groomed girls and boys. There's all different kinds of

:01:39. > :01:48.ways people can get exploited online. Wii I've learned to be safe

:01:49. > :01:51.on these internet websites. To keep my profile secure. One of the most

:01:52. > :01:55.interesting things about the players any of the children who watch it can

:01:56. > :02:00.see how easy it is, it could happen to anyone of them. Could happen to

:02:01. > :02:05.any body at any time. It is shocking and very moving, the number of

:02:06. > :02:09.students we do get in many different schools who come up to us and say

:02:10. > :02:12.that some issue in the play has affected them in some way. Whether

:02:13. > :02:17.it's the smallest thing, like something online, or something about

:02:18. > :02:25.sending photos. White mesh The message to all parents and pupils is

:02:26. > :02:30.to be aware of the dangers. How serious are the consequences of

:02:31. > :02:34.child abuse on the child? They can be devastating. Without the right

:02:35. > :02:38.kind of support and help for young people and children, they can have

:02:39. > :02:45.lifelong psychological consequences. How serious is the impact of social

:02:46. > :02:49.media? If we think about that in relation to child sexual

:02:50. > :02:53.exploitation, in 2013 Barnardo's did a snapshot survey of its specialist

:02:54. > :03:00.child sexual exploitation services. We were working with almost 900

:03:01. > :03:03.children at that point. Of those, about 40% identified social media as

:03:04. > :03:07.being one of the factors that they'd encountered in their abuse. That's a

:03:08. > :03:12.huge number. What are the warning signs in children? How would you

:03:13. > :03:16.tell that maybe they are suffering? There are three areas that we

:03:17. > :03:21.suggest that parents and carers are particularly sensitive to. Any real

:03:22. > :03:25.changes in behaviour, particularly if those changes include children

:03:26. > :03:29.who are staying out late and would be expected or more seriously going

:03:30. > :03:33.missing. The second would be children and young people who have

:03:34. > :03:37.things that they really have no explanation for. That might be cash,

:03:38. > :03:42.mobile phones, it might be any of a whole range of things. But if they

:03:43. > :03:45.can't explain how they got it, then we suggest parents should be

:03:46. > :03:49.sensitive to that. The other things are about having an awareness of

:03:50. > :03:53.what young people are engaged in online. Being willing to talk to

:03:54. > :03:56.young people about their online activities. Talk to children and it

:03:57. > :04:00.you think there's something you should get help. Thank you. Business

:04:01. > :04:03.leaders say they're determined the East Midlands won't lose out on the

:04:04. > :04:06.HS2 rail link. A report out today suggests the line between Birmingham

:04:07. > :04:10.and Crewe could be completed several years before the rest of the route.

:04:11. > :04:13.The Chamber of Commerce here says it would be unfair for one region to

:04:14. > :04:17.benefit before another and wants work to start on both ends of the

:04:18. > :04:21.line simultaneously. A massive fire which destroyed the top floor of a

:04:22. > :04:25.multistorey car park in Derby means the city's Assembly Rooms will be

:04:26. > :04:28.shut for at least eight weeks. Now the task of contacting thousands of

:04:29. > :04:30.people who'd bought tickets for shows which have been cancelled has

:04:31. > :04:42.begun, as James Roberson reports. From the tower of Derby Cathedral

:04:43. > :04:46.today, the extent of the damage to the assembly rooms car park is only

:04:47. > :04:52.too clear. Smoke from the huge fire on Friday night has got into the

:04:53. > :04:56.assembly rooms themselves, but the damage to the top of the car park is

:04:57. > :05:00.even more extensive. Pictures taken by the council today show the

:05:01. > :05:03.charred and buckled roof and the wrecked interior of the park room,

:05:04. > :05:10.including the point where the fire started. Today, in a temporary

:05:11. > :05:15.office in the Guildhall across the marketplace from the assembly rooms,

:05:16. > :05:19.Derby Live staff were beginning the huge task of bringing thousands of

:05:20. > :05:22.assembly rooms customers to tell them that their shows and events

:05:23. > :05:29.have been cancelled until mid`May. We've had to reschedule. The

:05:30. > :05:34.performance on Thursday, it's due to the fire that happened on Friday.

:05:35. > :05:38.One small piece of good fortune was that Friday night's wind blew smoke

:05:39. > :05:42.and flames away from nearby businesses in the city centre,

:05:43. > :05:48.including from Bennetts, right next door. The feeling is the businesses

:05:49. > :05:51.have opened for business as usual. Saturday was our first day of

:05:52. > :05:55.trading after the fire, and that was a good day of trading. Yes, there

:05:56. > :05:58.might be some impact with footfall around the city but we are

:05:59. > :06:02.optimistic going forward. Assessors have been inside the assembly rooms

:06:03. > :06:05.and the car park today. The car park will remain closed for the

:06:06. > :06:10.foreseeable future while its structural integrity is established.

:06:11. > :06:16.It will take a number of weeks. We know that the road in front will be

:06:17. > :06:19.closed for the foreseeable future. The assembly rooms will be closed

:06:20. > :06:27.for eight weeks. Unfortunately, it will take time to do it properly,

:06:28. > :06:31.but that's what we have to do. That's almost it from us. I will say

:06:32. > :06:36.goodbye now but I leave you with Kerry and a look at the weather.

:06:37. > :06:42.Dry and bright weather again today, but some changes on the way. The

:06:43. > :06:46.first thing you will notice tomorrow is the wind. It will pick up through

:06:47. > :06:50.the morning and into the afternoon, blowing in quite a few showers as

:06:51. > :06:54.well. For the time being, we are staying dry for tonight. The cloud

:06:55. > :06:59.is increasing and the winds. To pick up. The cloud and wind will hold

:07:00. > :07:05.those temperatures up tonight, so it's particularly cold. Tomorrow, we

:07:06. > :07:08.will start off dry but we will see the cloud thickening up and we will

:07:09. > :07:12.see a couple of the showers pushing through. Not many of them for some

:07:13. > :07:16.of us. Some of us will stay dry and there will even be some brightness

:07:17. > :07:19.towards the end of the day. Those winds will be quite noticeable,

:07:20. > :07:25.shaping the edge off the temperatures. The outlook, some

:07:26. > :07:29.sunshine on Wednesday, looking as though it will turn a bit wet and

:07:30. > :07:31.windier by Thursday. That is it from us.

:07:32. > :07:34.going to be Wednesday. Unsettled from there on in. More on that now

:07:35. > :07:43.with the UK forecast. A frost free night across the whole

:07:44. > :07:48.of the UK across the whole of the UK. Winds will strengthen tomorrow.

:07:49. > :07:54.Showers around. They will pep up as we go through the end of the night.

:07:55. > :07:58.More significantly across parts of Northern Ireland and into western

:07:59. > :08:03.Scotland. A little bit patchy rain further. Most places staying dry.

:08:04. > :08:08.Plenty of cloud. Temperatures Tuesday, seven or eight degrees to

:08:09. > :08:13.start. Fairly cloudy with the main focus of the wet weather across the

:08:14. > :08:17.north-west. Showers feeding in across parts of Scotland. Could be

:08:18. > :08:21.on the heavy side with the small chance of the odd rumble of thunder.

:08:22. > :08:25.Showers across Northern Ireland and into northern England. Further

:08:26. > :08:32.south, although it is quite overcast, most places should be

:08:33. > :08:35.dry. Thicker cloud through South Wales and south-west England which

:08:36. > :08:43.might produce the odd patch of light rain. That will move through

:08:44. > :08:44.Southern Canty is the rout the day. Behind it, some breaks in
