:00:00. > :00:08.on the BBC News Channel. I'll be back with the late news at 10pm.

:00:09. > :00:18.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn. A

:00:19. > :00:22.second earthquake has shaken parts of Rutland and Leicestershire today

:00:23. > :00:26.` just 24 hours after the l`st one. The latest quake struck the Oakham

:00:27. > :00:31.area at around ten to eight this morning. It had a magnitude of .5 `

:00:32. > :00:41.which experts say is three times more powerful than the first. Paul

:00:42. > :00:46.Bradshaw reports. The countryside around Oakham does not look like an

:00:47. > :00:50.earthquake zone but now, after two tremors emanating from the `rea have

:00:51. > :00:55.shaken scores of houses across Leicestershire, that is what it

:00:56. > :01:00.feels like. The earthquake was felt 40 kilometres away from the

:01:01. > :01:09.epicentre in the field behind me. Some local residents say thdy were

:01:10. > :01:17.woken by the earthquake. Thd roof was shaking, there were little bits

:01:18. > :01:22.falling down into the attic, and it was totally frightening. It felt

:01:23. > :01:26.like an underground explosion. There was one hell of a rumble, it was

:01:27. > :01:30.bigger than yesterday. It fdlt like a train right next to me. I put my

:01:31. > :01:39.hand on the washing line to steady myself. Experts say that thd double

:01:40. > :01:42.event is not that rare. It hs not that unusual or unprecedentdd to see

:01:43. > :01:51.a series of earthquakes where there is no distinct main shock. @fter two

:01:52. > :01:56.days of the largest seismic activity in the area since 2001, people are

:01:57. > :02:09.looking forward to a much qtieter Easter. Thanks for all your contact

:02:10. > :02:13.about this. Jason Blakey em`iled us to say he felt it ` followed by a

:02:14. > :02:17.rattle and vibration which seemed to come from under the house and right

:02:18. > :02:24.through it! He was having breakfast at the time ad called it a

:02:25. > :02:27.'hair`raising experience' . Jay Jenner contacted us on our Facebook

:02:28. > :02:31.page to say: Two mornings in a row my alarm clock wasn't needed, it

:02:32. > :02:41.seems Oakham is becoming a hot zone for the earth moving. And on Twitter

:02:42. > :02:45.Rhian Ivory got in touch to say she thought it was far bigger longer

:02:46. > :02:48.than yesterday's quake. A bht of a shock to get another one around the

:02:49. > :02:51.same time of day. There's bden no Good Friday good will betwedn

:02:52. > :02:53.Nottingham City Council's L`bour leadership and the Communithes

:02:54. > :02:55.Secretary Eric Pickles. The City Council today started legal

:02:56. > :02:58.proceedings against the govdrnment department over rubbish outside

:02:59. > :03:02.Lancaster House. That's a v`cant office block in the city whhch the

:03:03. > :03:05.council says is owned by Mr Pickle's department. They tell us it isn t

:03:06. > :03:08.theirs, but that it is registered to them. I hope he is here this Easter

:03:09. > :03:10.weekend and clears black bags himself. I cannot see that

:03:11. > :03:15.happening. They have not responded to us, they were given seven days's

:03:16. > :03:22.noticed so that local residdnts were not inconvenienced. They fahled to

:03:23. > :03:27.communicate with us and failed to act. The M1 motorway was partially

:03:28. > :03:29.closed for much of this morning and early afternoon, following `n early

:03:30. > :03:32.morning accident in Derbyshhre. The southbound carriageway was shut

:03:33. > :03:36.between junctions 29 and 28 after a crash involving two lorries south of

:03:37. > :03:39.the services. One of the drhvers has been seriously injured and hs being

:03:40. > :03:42.treated in hospital. The ro`d has now reopened. To mark Good Friday,

:03:43. > :03:45.there've been plenty of events happening across the region today.

:03:46. > :03:47.Among them, in Nottingham, different faiths worshipped together.

:03:48. > :03:51.Christians made their way to the Mosque in Bobbers Mill from the

:03:52. > :03:53.United Reformed Church nearby. Muslims and Christians praydd

:03:54. > :04:04.together outside ` to show tnity across the faiths. We have the same

:04:05. > :04:08.aspirations and prayers, and the same feelings, and I think ht is

:04:09. > :04:12.important to show those and communicate those to the wider

:04:13. > :04:15.world. Sadly, we often see the divisions between Muslims and

:04:16. > :04:20.Christians throughout the world and that is what gets the media's

:04:21. > :04:24.attention, but from the grass roots, we want to show a different

:04:25. > :04:27.way of being together. Sport now, and Derby County's game this evening

:04:28. > :04:31.with Doncaster could see thd Rams secure a play`off place. Th`t kicks

:04:32. > :04:43.off at 7.30. Catch live covdrage on BBC Radio Derby. Earlier thhs

:04:44. > :04:47.afternoon, Notts County lost by a goal at Bristol City in the League

:04:48. > :04:50.one. And in League Two, Mansfield Town were at Accrington, whdre it

:04:51. > :04:53.ended in a one`all draw. Cr`cking weather so far for most of ts, let's

:04:54. > :04:54.see what's in store for the rest of the Bank Holiday now with K`ye.

:04:55. > :04:57.Town were at Accrington, whdre it ended in a Good evening, it has been

:04:58. > :05:00.a lovely start to the bank holiday weekend, but we have seen the

:05:01. > :05:05.brightest day of the festivhties as things turned cloudy. We will pick

:05:06. > :05:10.up a easterly wind as well. The clouds will melt away this dvening,

:05:11. > :05:15.and we have a dry night ahe`d. The temperatures will take a tulble once

:05:16. > :05:18.again, and we will be close to freezing in rural spots by the

:05:19. > :05:23.morning, maybe even a littld bit lower than that. A cold start, but

:05:24. > :05:28.right as well. If you are up early, there will be sunshine, but we will

:05:29. > :05:33.start to see changes through the day as well. It is going to be cloudier

:05:34. > :05:41.for us but we will stay dry tomorrow. A little bit cooldr in the

:05:42. > :05:46.wind with highs of 12 or 13 degrees. It looks like we will see an area of

:05:47. > :05:50.low pressure from the south or east. There is some doubt as to how far

:05:51. > :05:56.north that will go that there will be rain on Sunday. That is ht from

:05:57. > :06:10.us, I will be back at 10:15pm. Goodbye.

:06:11. > :06:15.Today we have seen temperatures rising if Scotland but again

:06:16. > :06:18.tonight, with the clear skies and light wind temperatures will fall

:06:19. > :06:22.sharply, and for many of us, we are looking at a touch of frost. The

:06:23. > :06:25.satellite picture tells a story nicely. This belt of cloud is

:06:26. > :06:30.sitting in the far north-west of Scotland, we have had this cloud

:06:31. > :06:33.bubbling up across eastern areas and with the northerly wind it has felt

:06:34. > :06:37.cold in East Anglia. That cloud is going to melt away, we will get an

:06:38. > :06:40.easterly breeze picking the cloud back in again later in the night in

:06:41. > :06:44.eastern areas and we still have this cloud and rain in the far north west

:06:45. > :06:47.of Scotland, but for most we will have clear sky, light wind, Ness are

:06:48. > :06:54.the temperatures in towns and city, spin it round into the countryside,

:06:55. > :06:55.you can see it is colder, close to freezing, it could be down to
