:00:15. > :00:21.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Anne Davies. First

:00:22. > :00:25.tonight ` the Prime Minister has been in the East Midlands today. He

:00:26. > :00:29.told us new businesses are replacing jobs under threat in the region's

:00:30. > :00:32.traditional industries. Mr Cameron viewed motorway works at Catthorpe

:00:33. > :00:35.Junction in Leicestershire as he made the case for the effectiveness

:00:36. > :00:38.of the Government's infrastructure spending programme. After his tour,

:00:39. > :00:47.he spoke to our Home Affairs Correspondent, Jeremy Ball. It is

:00:48. > :00:51.important to seek myself this is really important infrastructure

:00:52. > :00:58.project, we need our roads to be working well, schemes like this

:00:59. > :01:03.improve road safety and everybody knows where the M1 and the M6 meet

:01:04. > :01:07.there have been a lot of traffic and accidents and this will make things

:01:08. > :01:13.better. And this is economic success stories, in these traditional

:01:14. > :01:19.industries it has been a tough time. The last cigarette factory is

:01:20. > :01:23.closing down and the last deep coalmine. What you say to those

:01:24. > :01:28.people? We need to grow the economy to create new jobs and there are

:01:29. > :01:32.over 1.5 million more people in work today than there were four years

:01:33. > :01:38.ago. In the East Midlands, 72,000 more people in work. Of course you

:01:39. > :01:42.see some industries facing difficult times, new businesses, new jobs and

:01:43. > :01:49.investment are coming including here. Many of the new jobs are

:01:50. > :01:54.part`time jobs, zero contract hours. That isn't what I want but a few

:01:55. > :01:59.look at the employment figures, the biggest level of growth in permanent

:02:00. > :02:02.employment, full`time jobs. In the East Midlands we have seen a fall in

:02:03. > :02:09.the number claiming unemployment benefits, 5000 fewer unemployed and

:02:10. > :02:15.a lot of new private`sector jobs and new businesses starting up, 400,000

:02:16. > :02:19.businesses nationwide. We are seeing growth in the economy but what

:02:20. > :02:23.matters is making sure the growth is felt across the country, not just

:02:24. > :02:28.London and the south`east as transport has a huge role to play

:02:29. > :02:32.which is why motorway scheme is matter and railways matter. I want

:02:33. > :02:40.all of the country to benefit from the growth.

:02:41. > :02:43.The owner of an animal rescue centre has denied more than 30 neglect

:02:44. > :02:47.charges in court today. One allegation centres on the death of a

:02:48. > :02:50.pig which made the headlines after it was rescued from its home `

:02:51. > :02:52.inside a house. Mike O'Sullivan watched the case at Stafford

:02:53. > :02:55.Magistrates' Court. The former veterinary nurse who

:02:56. > :02:58.denies 31 charges of neglect at our animal rescue sanctuary. Lindsay

:02:59. > :03:01.Newall from Burton on Trent is facing the RSPCA allegations at

:03:02. > :03:04.Stafford Magistrates' Court. She ran sanctuary in Etwall getting local

:03:05. > :03:08.and national media coverage when she took in Babe the pig which had been

:03:09. > :03:15.evicted after living with its owner a council house in Derby. The court

:03:16. > :03:18.heard the pig was in good condition when she arrived at the sanctuary.

:03:19. > :03:21.Concerns were raised about the welfare of animals by this

:03:22. > :03:30.volunteer, and police and RSPCA raided the centre in November 2012.

:03:31. > :03:33.The court heard the pig died as this man a trading standards officer

:03:34. > :03:40.filmed the animal in a ramshackle pen. The RSPCA prosecutor said it

:03:41. > :03:46.showed the pig was seriously undernourished, quite simply it died

:03:47. > :03:49.because it was not properly fed. The court heard the sanctuary looked

:03:50. > :03:52.after too many animals, including ponies, sheep, goats and rabbits.

:03:53. > :03:55.There was no evidence Lindsay Newall arranged for veterinary treatment.

:03:56. > :04:09.The case is expected to last for five days.

:04:10. > :04:12.A Nottinghamshire conman has been jailed for three and a half years

:04:13. > :04:18.for defrauding elderly and vulnerable people, for a second

:04:19. > :04:20.time. 39`year`old John Cooney from Radcliffe`on`Trent admitted taking

:04:21. > :04:23.over ten thousand pounds from at least ten victims aged from sixty

:04:24. > :04:26.nine to ninety nine. He mis`sold sofas, stair lifts and mobility

:04:27. > :04:38.scooters. In 2012, Cooney was sentenced to six months in prison,

:04:39. > :04:41.also for mis`selling mobility aids. Next, new pictures of youngsters

:04:42. > :04:45.risking their lives trespassing on train lines over Easter. Network

:04:46. > :04:48.Rail and British Transport Police have brought back safety trains or

:04:49. > :04:54."Q trains" to try and deal with trespassers, thieves and vandals. Jo

:04:55. > :04:57.Healey reports. Children trespassing near the Robin

:04:58. > :05:04.Hood line at Easter unaware how incredibly dangerous it can be. The

:05:05. > :05:08.railway is hazardous. Not places children should be playing on or

:05:09. > :05:12.hanging around on. They are risking their lives. This is about safety

:05:13. > :05:21.trains patrolling lines in the East Midlands. And by British Transport

:05:22. > :05:24.Police officers and Network Rail. `` manned by. Searching for trespassers

:05:25. > :05:28.and vandals. They started running in time for the Easter break in so far

:05:29. > :05:31.they are making a difference. Last year, during Easter there were 41

:05:32. > :05:35.incidents, this year, so far there have been 33. They say the

:05:36. > :05:40.improvement is slight and there is little room for complacency. We are

:05:41. > :05:44.striving to reduce trespassing and vandalism and the aim is to get it

:05:45. > :05:51.down to know incidents of trust pass and vandalism on the railway. Some

:05:52. > :05:57.trains travel at 120 miles an hour, weighing 400 tonnes. It would take

:05:58. > :06:01.the driver a mile and a quarter before he could stop so a few are a

:06:02. > :06:08.child on the line, you would not stand a chance. This is the sort of

:06:09. > :06:12.thing the safety trains look out for and they are desperate to stop it.

:06:13. > :06:21.As the pictures from the Easter weekend show, some youngsters still

:06:22. > :06:25.need to heed the warnings. Football now and Leicester City are

:06:26. > :06:29.the Football League Champions. Victory at Bolton means they now

:06:30. > :06:40.can't be caught at the top of the Championship and can celebrate with

:06:41. > :06:47.two games to spare. Goodbye from me. Now, the weather. A

:06:48. > :06:51.mixture of sunshine and April showers. The showers are hit and

:06:52. > :06:58.miss. A few get one, you will know about it. Some warm sunshine in

:06:59. > :07:03.between the showers. A few showers this evening are starting to fade

:07:04. > :07:06.away, it will be tried for the rest of the night. A lot of cloud and

:07:07. > :07:15.turning misty and murky but very mild. To my morning, dry, cloudy at

:07:16. > :07:21.first `` tomorrow morning it will be dry. Some decent spells of sunshine

:07:22. > :07:26.coming through, a few heavy showers across eastern parts of the East

:07:27. > :07:28.Midlands. Elsewhere, we could stay dry, feeling quite pleasant. That is

:07:29. > :07:39.if from us. Goodbye. is not looking too bad. That's

:07:40. > :07:43.weather front. It is never too early to think about

:07:44. > :07:49.next weekend and I will be doing that in a couple of minutes. But we

:07:50. > :07:55.have a sizeable chunk of this week's whether to go first. There

:07:56. > :07:59.are more showers, but there will be spells of warm sunshine around as

:08:00. > :08:05.well, so there will be no frost at night. Bands of showers across the

:08:06. > :08:10.western side of the UK and Scotland's passing through

:08:11. > :08:17.overnight. Another heavy burst coming into the south-west later on

:08:18. > :08:20.in the night. This rain band slowly comes in from the South West and

:08:21. > :08:26.this is how Wednesday starts at eight o'clock in the morning. It

:08:27. > :08:27.will turn out to be a warmer day in
