:00:20. > :00:26.It is claimed paramedics couldn't get past these automated bollards.

:00:27. > :00:36.It is a matter of life and death. Plus, driving home the dangers of

:00:37. > :00:42.drinking and driving. Also tonight, Carl Froch speaks of

:00:43. > :00:46.the human cost of his boxing career. If I could do it over again, I

:00:47. > :00:52.probably wouldn't. People don't understand the sacrifices you make.

:00:53. > :00:57.I should be demonstrating how to fly a day gliding and simulating

:00:58. > :01:05.machine. Year`old I shall be. `` I shall be demonstrating.

:01:06. > :02:32.were punching in codes, but to no avail. So she was sat here for five

:02:33. > :02:37.or ten minutes. After the paramedic got through, she

:02:38. > :02:39.had to park near the market and had to park near the market and

:02:40. > :02:48.walked the short with their equipment. Obviously they had to

:02:49. > :02:53.bring all their equipment, a chair, and so on, for the patient

:02:54. > :02:54.downstairs. In a statement the City Council told us there had been a

:02:55. > :08:15.fault with the today's load. If this was an opinion

:08:16. > :08:22.poll, which it is not, I would say that the Conservatives have won by a

:08:23. > :08:27.mile given the amount of literature they have got. And we have seen a

:08:28. > :08:33.lot of Cabinet ministers visiting, George Osborne was back in the patch

:08:34. > :08:37.today, I dare say the Prime Minister's chauffeur driver from

:08:38. > :08:40.Downing Street does not get just that `` does not need that now that

:08:41. > :08:46.any more because he will know the A`Z of Newark inside out. One

:08:47. > :08:50.candidate told me he had not seen as many parliamentarians in Newark

:08:51. > :08:58.since the civil war when Cromwell's Roundheads were besieging the city!

:08:59. > :09:04.The constituency is quite a size. Yes, it is a new style of

:09:05. > :09:12.constituency, the boundaries changed at the last election, it runs like a

:09:13. > :09:19.spine through Nottinghamshire, with the Newark there on the right`hand

:09:20. > :09:27.Bridgeford and bring them, `` and Bridgeford and bring them, `` and

:09:28. > :09:32.this weekend we are going to see all the parties actively campaigning,

:09:33. > :09:36.getting their people out. We will see more Cabinet ministers around

:09:37. > :09:39.the constituency this weekend. Labour are promising a mass canvas

:09:40. > :09:40.of the constituency, and UKIP will be there too.

:09:41. > :09:45.You will be busy! And here's the list

:09:46. > :09:53.of 11 candidates standing in the Polling takes place in a week's

:09:54. > :09:59.time, that's next Thursday. Police are being asked to

:10:00. > :10:01.investigate claims of intimidation in a row between

:10:02. > :10:04.local residents and the owners Over the past few months,

:10:05. > :10:08.a number of incidents have been reported to the local council

:10:09. > :10:12.in connection with Mallory Park. Last night new guidelines were

:10:13. > :10:15.agreed, limiting the owners to 92 noisy days ` and 20

:10:16. > :10:22.medium noise days ` per year. The Great Central Railway has missed

:10:23. > :10:26.out on ?10 million of funding The Railway put in a joint bid for

:10:27. > :10:32.the Heritage Lottery Fund money, along with Leicester City Council

:10:33. > :10:36.and York's National Railway Museum. The new museum would bring

:10:37. > :10:39.a number of historic steam trains to the city, and allow visitors to see

:10:40. > :10:43.them run on the They can bid for

:10:44. > :11:02.the money again later this year. We are confident we will get it. We

:11:03. > :11:05.have two strong partners in the National Railway Museum and

:11:06. > :11:10.Leicester City Council. They are keen as we are to see a museum in

:11:11. > :11:14.Leicestershire. It would be one of the biggest tourist attractions and

:11:15. > :11:17.one of the major ones and heritage railway in Europe.

:11:18. > :11:20.It may seem unusually early, but in parts of our region

:11:21. > :11:23.a police summer drink driving campaign is already under way.

:11:24. > :11:26.In Leicestershire they're worried that more drinkers will get

:11:27. > :11:28.behind the wheel as people gather to watch football's World Cup.

:11:29. > :11:32.So today they staged a graphic demonstration of the effects of

:11:33. > :11:41.Here's our social affairs correspondent Jeremy Ball.

:11:42. > :11:48.Imagine ending your night like this, being cut out of a crashed

:11:49. > :11:52.car. This is a demonstration of how fire crews have to deal with the

:11:53. > :11:57.consequences of drink`driving. Sometimes you cannot tell what kind

:11:58. > :12:03.of car it is, the metal tears like paper. We have the World Cup coming

:12:04. > :12:07.up, and there are extended licensing hours. So we are saying to people,

:12:08. > :12:13.go out and enjoy yourselves but do not drink and drive, leave your car

:12:14. > :12:20.at home and get a bus or taxi. But Michael York to take the risk

:12:21. > :12:25.and now he is in jail. He was drunk when he drove into a tree, killing

:12:26. > :12:32.two friends. Other local drivers have lost their own lives. One

:12:33. > :12:36.instance I went to, and driver was rejected from a vehicle on the

:12:37. > :12:41.vehicle ran on top of him. He was 3.5 times over the legal limit.

:12:42. > :12:45.Going to notify somebody they have lost a loved one, that is something

:12:46. > :12:47.some people never, ever comes to some people never, ever comes to

:12:48. > :12:53.terms with it. But it is not just the risk of a

:12:54. > :13:02.crash. Every month around 100 people fail breath tests in Leicestershire,

:13:03. > :13:05.and some lose their jobs. Drink drive campaigns are nothing

:13:06. > :13:11.new. They do it every Christmas, but they hope will `` that by putting on

:13:12. > :13:16.such a graphic demonstration here they can drive that message home.

:13:17. > :13:20.A big step forward for modern crime`fighting and a big

:13:21. > :13:23.The university that developed genetic fingerprinting has come up

:13:24. > :13:26.with a way of getting prints ` off paper.

:13:27. > :13:28.A scientist based at the University of Leicester has found

:13:29. > :13:31.a more efficient way of lifting prints from receipts and

:13:32. > :13:36.cash machine bills, evidence that was previously hidden from view.

:13:37. > :13:43.On a Monday morning nearly 30 years ago, a scientist at the University

:13:44. > :13:47.of Leicester revolutionised the fight against crime with the

:13:48. > :13:54.Now, at the same university, that fight continues.

:13:55. > :13:57.Dr Bond has created a specially tailored UV light source

:13:58. > :14:01.to see fingerprints on till receipts and cash machine statements that

:14:02. > :14:08.This particular technology, because it has no contact with

:14:09. > :14:10.the paper, doesn't rely on chemicals or anything like that.

:14:11. > :14:15.You are purely getting contrast between sweat deposit that is

:14:16. > :14:19.reacting with the dye in the paper, but ever so minutely not visible to

:14:20. > :14:22.the naked eye, and the background paper to help you

:14:23. > :14:28.The best thing about this new technology is that for

:14:29. > :14:32.the police it's quick and easy and it's relatively cheap to purchase.

:14:33. > :14:35.It should offer big advantage when you're looking

:14:36. > :14:42.It may not look as high`tech as a gadget that 007 would use,

:14:43. > :14:44.but Dr Bond's discovery could leave criminals feeling shaken

:14:45. > :14:50.Navtej Johal, BBC East Midlands today, Leicester.

:14:51. > :14:55.Del Boy takes flight Actor David Jason reveals his head

:14:56. > :15:11.Many years ago I used to fly gliders. It was the cheapest way I

:15:12. > :15:20.could get to throw myself into the air and get off the ground.

:15:21. > :15:24.And this week is all about events in the boxing ring.

:15:25. > :15:27.Colin's out and about to tell us more.

:15:28. > :15:30.Just over 48 hours to go until Nottingham's Carl Froch defends

:15:31. > :15:33.his world titles in Britain's biggest boxing match for decades.

:15:34. > :15:37.Today we're here at this club in Carlton with the man who trained

:15:38. > :15:44.Froch as a youngster and some of the fighters he's inspired.

:15:45. > :15:53.Carl himself has been going head`to`head with opponent George

:15:54. > :16:09.So the champion and challenger came face to face today at Wembley for a

:16:10. > :16:20.fight that is rewriting the boxing history books. Plenty of sparring

:16:21. > :16:30.between the two. The tension was tangible. Little wonder with so much

:16:31. > :16:39.at stake. Empty now. 80,000 will be here on Saturday night will stop it

:16:40. > :16:46.the biggest of Carl Frosch's career. He is a world champion fighter but a

:16:47. > :16:56.family man at heart. At the weekend I tried to get away from boxing. I

:16:57. > :17:02.tried to relax. One thing I can't do this close to the fight is eat. It's

:17:03. > :17:09.my daughters birthday today. Some lovely muffins. Ahead of the biggest

:17:10. > :17:21.fight of his career he invited us into Islam. `` into his home. Every

:17:22. > :17:27.single fight I'm lumped in the. And she's played a big part in my

:17:28. > :17:35.success. They are there for the rough times. Operations, injuries.

:17:36. > :17:42.Through the tears and the bad times as well as the good times. The

:17:43. > :17:49.rematch will set him up for life. If I could do it all again I probably

:17:50. > :17:58.wouldn't. It's been so hard. People don't understand the sacrifices. If

:17:59. > :18:05.I could go back and do it again, I would stick with the office job.

:18:06. > :18:10.Instead, it's been alive inside the ring both him and the family. Every

:18:11. > :18:19.time I watching, I can't wait until the bell rings. I give my home and

:18:20. > :18:26.the case. I don't have to worry until the next fight. Boxing is a

:18:27. > :18:33.selfish sport. When I'm fighting, it all just me will stop I'm not

:18:34. > :18:39.concerned about anybody else. If I get to rub wrap `` wrapped up in the

:18:40. > :18:49.emotion, I wouldn't be up to do what I do. I don't want to turn my back

:18:50. > :18:55.on it. I'm still enjoying it. I'm still able to get out of bed, put my

:18:56. > :19:02.socks on. When you can't put your socks on, that's when to turn it in.

:19:03. > :19:12.For now, settling scores is his focus. All the Sammy `` family

:19:13. > :19:23.support adds up to me doing my best. I'm proud of myself. I couldn't have

:19:24. > :19:27.done it on my own though. He says he is fighting for his legacy. Interest

:19:28. > :20:17.in this match has reached epic scale. We will be there.

:20:18. > :20:28.Unbelievable excitement. Set up website you date. Mail is known to

:20:29. > :20:36.many people in Derby. He is part of the club that got promotion seven or

:20:37. > :20:49.eight years ago. Most importantly he is a hugely successful businessman.

:20:50. > :20:55.The good thing about Derby, County is it in a strong position. It

:20:56. > :21:03.doesn't have to panic. We'll make the decisions when they are needed

:21:04. > :21:16.to be made. Season ticket tales are nearly

:21:17. > :21:22.20,000. So back to the event that everyone is talking about. The

:21:23. > :21:29.boxing. This is really where it started. You are responsible for the

:21:30. > :21:38.Phoenix boxing club. How proud you of what Kyle has done. Extremely

:21:39. > :21:42.proud. Could you all see it? I don't think you can. But there were signs

:21:43. > :21:53.he had power and he had good footwork. Let's move on. You watched

:21:54. > :21:59.him come through. How important was this place in steering his career?

:22:00. > :22:08.Very important. He started here very young. System very well and supports

:22:09. > :22:14.the lads here. He'll do it this time. He'll not make the same

:22:15. > :22:25.mistakes as before. Let's talk to some of the young boxers. You going

:22:26. > :22:37.be watching? Definitely. How inspiring is it? Very inspiring. It

:22:38. > :22:51.gives us something to aim for. Again to finish off with Eton. I you next?

:22:52. > :22:56.I don't know, but I will try to be. It's absolutely brilliant, it was

:22:57. > :22:57.doing. They have the flags out for Carl and we will sort or team all

:22:58. > :23:06.the way. Del Boy, Peckham's finest,

:23:07. > :23:10.today swapped South London And he was here to talk

:23:11. > :23:15.about his love of flying.Yes, Sir David Jason is, in fact, an

:23:16. > :23:19.experienced pilot and is supporting a scheme to help air cadets learn to

:23:20. > :23:37.fly, whatever the weather. Arriving here, the pilot is Sir

:23:38. > :23:39.David Jason. Of course, as an actor he is most famous for open all hours

:23:40. > :23:58.and only fools and horses. He was there to meet youngsters in

:23:59. > :24:04.the RAF. They fly powered gliders and underpowered.

:24:05. > :24:15.Get off the television, get off their phones. We're really

:24:16. > :24:37.starstruck. But he's so easily to relate to. A fight slick simulator

:24:38. > :24:41.will help. `` a flight simulator. I've flown faster things missing in

:24:42. > :24:48.my back garden. Not many people knew you were a parrot? Some things we

:24:49. > :24:53.have to keep to ourselves. I used to fly for many years. I used to fly

:24:54. > :25:01.gliders. It was the cheapest way I could get to throw myself into the

:25:02. > :25:07.air and get off the ground. I could fulfil my love of flying. The most

:25:08. > :25:13.difficult thing to fly is a helicopter. I was challenged to try.

:25:14. > :25:26.It took me a long time but I've done it. Is it a yellow helicopter with

:25:27. > :25:33.trotters on the side? Yes it is. I don't have it here today because of

:25:34. > :25:42.the weather. Always up for a challenge, he successfully landed

:25:43. > :25:45.the simulator in a field. I brought it back safely. This boy is going to

:25:46. > :26:10.go a long way. Awful today. Cold and wet. He a

:26:11. > :26:17.soggy flower. Things are looking to improve in the next couple of days

:26:18. > :26:21.or so. The pressure will shift those weather front out of the way and

:26:22. > :26:26.take the rain away. I'm much better looking picture tomorrow. The odd

:26:27. > :26:34.patch of light rain but not as much today. The winds will be a lot

:26:35. > :26:43.lighter and it will be noticeably water `` warmer. Damp and drizzly

:26:44. > :26:49.into the evening. Most of that will fizzle out. We keep the cloud and

:26:50. > :26:57.the temperatures will be up. 10 Celsius is the lowest. Tomorrow,

:26:58. > :27:02.most of us starting off dry. We will see a little light rain in eastern

:27:03. > :27:08.part but that will fizzle out in the afternoon. Hopefully some

:27:09. > :27:16.brightness. Most of us staying quite cloudy. The temperatures will be up

:27:17. > :27:21.to around 15 or 16 Celsius. Into Saturday, not a lot in the way of

:27:22. > :27:25.change. A lot of cloud around but hopefully some brightness in the

:27:26. > :27:33.afternoon. Top temperature 19 Celsius. Uncertainty as far as

:27:34. > :27:37.Sunday goes. Not a bad weekend really.
