:00:20. > :00:23.fearless inquiry into the vholent death of a man at the hands of his

:00:24. > :00:29.John McGrath was killed by William Barnard at his Stapleford

:00:30. > :00:34.His family have been fighting for a full inquest for the last two years.

:00:35. > :00:36.Here's our Chief News reporter Quentin Rayner.

:00:37. > :00:39.On the 24th of July 2009, John McGrath was stabbed to death

:00:40. > :00:43.at his Stapleford home by one of his ten grandchildren.

:00:44. > :00:45.His wife Mabel tried to protect him but he suffered 56 wounds.

:00:46. > :00:51.The 81`year`old grandfather was described in court as clever, brave,

:00:52. > :00:56.And was a father figure to William Barnard, always looking out for him.

:00:57. > :00:59.William, who is now 34 had been diagnosed

:01:00. > :01:02.as a paranoid schizophrenic and had stopped taking his

:01:03. > :01:05.medication and no longer had contact with the team caring for hil.

:01:06. > :01:10.His family have been pushing for today's inquest for over two years.

:01:11. > :01:12.His mother, seen on the left, arrived with several

:01:13. > :01:19.John McGrath's eldest daughter Ann in the black and white top,

:01:20. > :01:24.She described how John was saddened by his grandson's illness and the

:01:25. > :01:29.John, she said fought tireldssly to get William the help he needed

:01:30. > :01:35.She added that her mother M`bel who is now 88 is tortured daily

:01:36. > :01:39.by flashbacks of what happened and wishes she hadn't survived

:01:40. > :01:42.and had gone with the man she had been married to for 63 years

:01:43. > :01:47.The coroner promised a full and fearless inquest.

:01:48. > :01:51.She wants to find out if William should have been detained bx the

:01:52. > :01:54.An earlier enquiry found vital chances were missed,

:01:55. > :01:58.including an assessment which was ordered to late.

:01:59. > :02:01.And the coroner will also bd asking if William should have been arrested

:02:02. > :02:05.much earlier on by the police following an alleged armed robbery

:02:06. > :02:16.The inquest is due to last two weeks.

:02:17. > :02:18.Villagers in South Derbyshire say they have serious concerns

:02:19. > :02:21.about plans to build a huge transport hub near their holes.

:02:22. > :02:25.The road and rail development is close to the Toyota factory.

:02:26. > :02:29.It'll be served by two major roads, a main railway line

:02:30. > :02:39.It doesn't flood every year in Eggington, but when it does it

:02:40. > :02:42.severely affects properties and access in and out of the village.

:02:43. > :02:46.Now a proposed development on this land a mile north

:02:47. > :02:48.of Eggington Common is making residents concerned.

:02:49. > :02:52.The site looks like lush farmland but in f`ct has

:02:53. > :02:54.had human waste from sewage farms spread over it for years making it

:02:55. > :03:01.So developers say the fact the main Derby`Stoke rail lhne runs

:03:02. > :03:04.across it, plus its proximity to the A38, the Toyota factory

:03:05. > :03:10.and the A50, make it highly attractive as a rail freight site.

:03:11. > :03:12.It gives the opportunity for businesses to look

:03:13. > :03:17.at its supply chain and movd freight from road to rail which restlts

:03:18. > :03:24.We are looking at the development over a ten to 15 year period.

:03:25. > :03:27.We are looking at around 7,000 jobs in total once

:03:28. > :03:33.Today, for the first time extensive plans for the site went on show

:03:34. > :03:39.Villagers from Repton and other local communities came to t`ke

:03:40. > :03:45.a look at the various plans and how a road rail freight hub might work.

:03:46. > :03:47.Our concern is obviously the increased traffic going through

:03:48. > :03:52.Noise, mostly because we've already got the A50 alongside where I live.

:03:53. > :03:55.We are very concerned about flooding and we've just spent a lot of money

:03:56. > :04:00.on a flood bank or an extension of the existing flood bank.

:04:01. > :04:04.The site is categorised as a low risk flood area anxway

:04:05. > :04:09.but we will work closely with the Environment Agency to ensure it

:04:10. > :04:14.In fact, we will strive to improve the flood risk issud.

:04:15. > :04:17.The developers are stressing this is just a consultation phasd.

:04:18. > :04:21.There will be another eight exhibitions of the plans

:04:22. > :04:27.in other local villages between now and the 28th of June.

:04:28. > :04:31.From today, forcing someone into marriage is a criminal offence

:04:32. > :04:35.and one which carries a seven`year prison sentencd.

:04:36. > :04:38.And Derby College has becomd the first in the country to try to

:04:39. > :04:43.It's joined up with the charity Karma Nirvana,

:04:44. > :04:47.to alert tutors to the posshble tell`tale signs in students and to

:04:48. > :04:56.a former student there and she too was a victim of forced marrhage

:04:57. > :05:02.And figures from the charitx show the extent of the problem.

:05:03. > :05:07.6,500 calls to its helpline from victims of forced marrhage

:05:08. > :05:13.The majority were women between the ages of 18 and 24.

:05:14. > :05:16.More than 300 calls were taken from the East Midlands,

:05:17. > :05:23.Derby College is the first college nationally to give commitment to

:05:24. > :05:30.And this is over four days across the whole of the college

:05:31. > :05:33.This is where we are training the lecturers

:05:34. > :05:35.in spotting the warning signs, what to do if you are concerned

:05:36. > :05:39.They are also committed to doing a poster campaign across

:05:40. > :05:44.That is really important, especially at this time of year when the summer

:05:45. > :05:49.Leicester Cathedral has revdaled the final design for the tolb

:05:50. > :05:54.Work is due to begin on alterations inside the C`thedral

:05:55. > :05:57.in late summer, ready for a re`interment ceremony next Spring.

:05:58. > :05:59.His wooden coffin will be m`de by Michael Ibsen,

:06:00. > :06:06.A fundraising appeal will help pay for the new tomb.

:06:07. > :06:09.We need to raise the best p`rt of another ?2 million

:06:10. > :06:13.and we are talking to a large number of donors nationally and locally.

:06:14. > :06:15.But we really do want the general public to feel they can

:06:16. > :06:20.The coffin is going to made by Michael Ibsen,

:06:21. > :06:25.whose DNA was used to identhfy the bones and is a cabinet laker

:06:26. > :07:17.by trade and he is really pleased to be asked to make the coffin.
