:01:34. > :01:38.They literally got away with murder for 15 years

:01:39. > :01:42.by duping relatives into thhnking the couple were still alive.

:01:46. > :01:48.Susan Edward's father would have been 100 and would receive

:01:49. > :02:06.A reporter is in Mansfield for us this evening. It is beautiftl here

:02:07. > :02:14.tonight. It is difficult to imagine that a terrible secret was heading

:02:15. > :02:16.here for 15 years. A couple murdered and buried in the back garddn.

:02:17. > :02:21.The police found the remains of the elderly couple here in Forrest

:02:22. > :02:24.They had each been shot twice and wrapped in duvets.

:02:25. > :02:27.This is where the remains of William and Patricia Wycherley lay

:02:28. > :02:30.in their back garden grave undiscovered for 15 years.

:02:31. > :02:34.No one in this tiny cul`de`sac, or the wider world, suspected ` thing.

:02:35. > :02:38.Their daughter and son`in`l`w, Susan and Christopher Edwards,

:02:39. > :02:40.formerly of Dagenham, were today convicted of murder by

:02:41. > :02:47.They decided on their coursd of action, which was to travel to

:02:48. > :02:52.Mansfield, kill this elderlx couple who they knew would not be lissed,

:02:53. > :02:58.I would describe that as pretty cold and calculatdd.

:02:59. > :03:02.The police said that the Wycherleys, aged 85 and 63, were each shot twice

:03:03. > :03:11.Colt Commando revolver, like this one, was fired at them.

:03:17. > :03:23.The Edwards say that they btried the Wycherleys the next weekend

:03:24. > :03:26.The grave had been dug in the daytime, by agreement,

:03:27. > :03:30.and the couple then sat and watched the television together.

:03:31. > :03:34.The Eurovision Song contest, they recall.

:03:35. > :03:37.They set their alarm for the early hours of the

:03:38. > :03:40.following morning so they could get up and bury the bodies.

:03:41. > :03:43.The motive was money and revenge, as Susan Edwards thought th`t she

:03:44. > :03:45.had been cheated out of inheritance cash by her parents.

:03:46. > :03:48.The day after the Bank Holiday shootings, Susan Edwards closed

:03:49. > :03:53.the Wycherleys account at the Halifax in Mansfield.

:03:54. > :03:59.She set up a bogus joint account with her mother.

:04:00. > :04:02.The Wycherleys? pension money was paid in.

:04:03. > :04:08.In 2005, the Edwards forged the Wycherleys? signatures

:04:09. > :04:15.They raked in a total of around ?245,000 over 15 years.

:04:16. > :04:19.They sent Christmas cards to relatives to convince them that

:04:20. > :04:25.In one, saying it is good to see them with such zest.

:04:26. > :04:28.Over the years, the Edwards came back regularly to the house to check

:04:29. > :04:31.the garden, telling the neighbours that the Wycherleys

:04:32. > :04:39.had moved to Blackpool, Mordcombe, or were travelling in Ireland.

:04:40. > :04:44.It is quite astonishing, in that particular area gunshot noises or

:04:45. > :04:50.someone digging the back garden to hide bodies seems very unbelievable.

:04:51. > :04:56.She was a former librarian and former police secretary.

:04:57. > :04:59.He was an invoice clerk working in London.

:05:00. > :05:06.In one two`year period spending ?14,000 on memorabilia conndcted to

:05:07. > :05:17.She was a bit odd and he used to do all the shopping.

:05:32. > :05:36.The Edwards fled to France for a year after the Pensions

:05:42. > :05:47.Christopher Edwards, running out of money, confessed to his stepmother
