:00:40. > :00:41.Dayani Chauhan Ahmed died hours after her birth at Leicester General

:00:42. > :00:44.last October. An inquest heard how staff `t

:00:45. > :00:46.the labour unit were overstretched. Amy Harris was at the hearing

:00:47. > :00:49.in Leicester. The inquest here in Leicestdr lasted

:00:50. > :00:52.all day as the coroner heard about the vital hours before the birth and

:00:53. > :00:55.death of Dayani Chauhan Ahmdd last October. It should have been a

:00:56. > :01:00.straightforward birth but the labour unit at Leicester hospital was

:01:01. > :01:02.exceptionally busy. Staff wdre overstretched and Dayani didn't

:01:03. > :01:05.receive adequate medical attention. Dayani's birth was delayed which

:01:06. > :01:07.caused brain damage which ldd to her death. The coroner recorded a

:01:08. > :01:10.narrative verdict which was welcomed by her parents.

:01:11. > :01:17.It probably helped to get a bit of closure but as a parent your child

:01:18. > :01:24.is always your child, no matter what. We do try to move on. We're

:01:25. > :01:32.not stepping back and expecting .. We're looking forward. But

:01:33. > :01:36.obviously, this is a fantastic conclusion from the coroner.

:01:37. > :01:41.Dayani's parents and the coroner sat through hours of evidence from

:01:42. > :01:46.medical professionals. The two senior staff on duty that nhght were

:01:47. > :01:56.overstretched. The hospital says lessons have been learned and they

:01:57. > :01:58.have changed their policies, urging staff to seek assistance from

:01:59. > :02:02.consultants outside the unit if necessary. We can't say sorry enough

:02:03. > :02:05.to the parents for he loss of their baby. It is such a tragedy so we'll

:02:06. > :02:12.do our utmost to get those policies rolled out and ensure everybody

:02:13. > :02:14.from from the new staff comhng in to the trust know about them. When

:02:15. > :02:17.recording her verdict, the coroner said Dayani's death was due to

:02:18. > :02:24.natural causes contributed to by neglect. She said the care simply

:02:25. > :02:26.wasn't enough, adding it's difficult to see how it could have got much

:02:27. > :02:37.worse. Two men have been jailed for life

:02:38. > :02:40.and six others given lengthx custodial sentences for takhng part

:02:41. > :02:46.in an arson attack that led to the deaths of a family of four hn

:02:47. > :02:57.Leicester. Dr Mohammad Taufhq, the husband who lost his wife and

:02:58. > :03:09.The aftermath of this arson attack. Petrol was poured through a

:03:10. > :03:19.letterbox and ignited in Lehcester last September. The fire th`t night

:03:20. > :03:25.claimed several lives. Todax the man who poured the petrol, 22`ydar`old

:03:26. > :03:32.Tristan Richards was sentenced to life for murder. 19`year`old friend

:03:33. > :03:37.of his better minimum term of 2 years for murder. Six others

:03:38. > :03:48.involved found guilty of manslaughter were given sentences

:03:49. > :03:57.ranging from 15 years to 18 years. With the sentence and then see there

:05:42. > :05:45.they were coming under fire. We had to provide a robust responsd and it

:05:46. > :05:50.was nerve wracking and I had to challenge myself to make decisions.

:05:51. > :05:59.But we worked within our rules of engagement and return fire. The

:06:00. > :06:04.Royal Anglians were protecthng British bases as they were gradually

:06:05. > :06:08.shut down. In Alaska Gar, these soldiers were living at polhce

:06:09. > :06:14.headquarters where they werd sharing intelligence with Afghan forces We

:06:15. > :06:21.have left behind a very incredible Afghan security force. The Royal

:06:22. > :06:25.Anglians were some of the fhrst British soldiers to deploy to

:06:26. > :06:31.Afghanistan and they are thhs region 's last front`line regiment to come

:06:32. > :06:36.home. Hundreds of families `cross the East Midlands, it's the end of a
