:00:17. > :00:19.The new ?2.5 million gardens by Leicester Cathedral opened today as

:00:20. > :00:24.It was the first time they've been open to the public.

:00:25. > :00:27.It also marks the start of the city's preparations

:00:28. > :00:29.for the reinterment of King Richard III next year.

:00:30. > :00:39.We declare the gardens open to the world.

:00:40. > :00:43.It's a 14th century cathedr`l with now 21st`century gardens.

:00:44. > :00:47.The project also includes a newly cleaned Richard III statue,

:00:48. > :00:53.all in preparation for next year's re`internment.

:00:54. > :00:55.The Cathedral is at the heart of the city and the county.

:00:56. > :00:58.For decades, we have dreamt of giving it a proper setting.

:01:03. > :01:04.The gardens are wonderful and I think it's a very big thing

:01:05. > :01:12.I think the gardens themselves are very pleasant.

:01:13. > :01:16.I think, as accompaniment to the Cathedral, the emphasis on

:01:17. > :01:23.But in difficult economic thmes there has been criticism from

:01:24. > :01:27.some quarters that the monex could have been better spent elsewhere.

:01:28. > :01:29.The church has raised very significant funds from donors

:01:30. > :01:34.New money has come in from Durope that simply wouldn't be herd if we

:01:35. > :01:38.It's about more money coming in rather than living

:01:39. > :01:45.As you can see, Richard is back to looking his best.

:01:46. > :01:50.He has been angled towards Bosworth, ready for battle.

:01:51. > :01:53.The hope is that Leicester will now be better prepared to wdlcome
