:00:09. > :00:16.The home here is for adults over the age of 65. Some of them havd mental

:00:17. > :00:20.or physical disabilities. Today I spoke with the family of ond of

:00:21. > :00:30.them. Last year, this woman celebrated her

:00:31. > :00:35.one `` her 100th birthday. Her family say social workers told them

:00:36. > :00:39.of a major investigation into Fosse Court and advise them to move

:00:40. > :00:47.around. You well aware that something was going on? `` were

:00:48. > :00:55.aware. Yes. The council people said it is not safe to go there. The

:00:56. > :01:05.police and council said it was not safe? Yes. The council told us it is

:01:06. > :01:09.aware of the allegations regarding the independently run Fosse Court

:01:10. > :01:17.and is supporting both the police investigation and the residdnts and

:01:18. > :01:23.their families. She was trying to tell you? Yes we

:01:24. > :01:35.didn't realise. How do you feel now that you have moved her out? We are

:01:36. > :01:39.happy. How is she? She is h`ppy now. This afternoon, families met at

:01:40. > :01:43.Fosse Court to ask questions. Even think it will happen to yourself or

:01:44. > :01:48.a member of your family. I don't know if there has been abusd. Her

:01:49. > :01:52.grandmother is settling into night, but

:01:53. > :02:00.places and specialist homes are .. What is the latest on the

:02:01. > :02:05.investigation? Leicestershire Police say they have

:02:06. > :02:09.arrested for women, all of them members of staff aged betwedn 4 and

:02:10. > :02:15.61 and they have been released on bail pending further investhgations.

:02:16. > :02:23.I have had a statement from Fosse Court, the care home.

:02:24. > :02:26.Sadly, we seem to have lost the feed there. We'll have more that later

:02:27. > :02:29.on. Later in the programme, the voice of

:02:30. > :02:32.cricket soaring over Leicestershire. We discover what the BBC's cricket

:02:33. > :02:45.correspondent Jonathan Agnew likes The Derbyshire man's epic attempt to

:02:46. > :02:52.claim three peaks in three days on three wheels. `` to climb.

:02:53. > :02:54.Another 2,000 jobs could be lost at Derbyshire County Council as cuts

:02:55. > :02:58.threaten the end of some services, including school crossing p`trols.

:02:59. > :03:01.The council today announced details of its budget over the next three

:03:02. > :03:03.years with the Conservative opposition claiming it was linked to

:03:04. > :03:27.Even mums walking to and from their children centre use the school

:03:28. > :03:34.crossing patrol. But the crossing service is facing the axe. The

:03:35. > :03:40.County Council says cutting school crossing patrols in 200 loc`tions

:03:41. > :03:43.could save ?600,000. They whll go next year, unless alternative ways

:03:44. > :03:50.of finding and funding can be worked out. I struggle with cars stopping

:03:51. > :03:55.with me and I have a stick that is meant to stop the cars and they

:03:56. > :04:02.ignore me. If I was not herd, I think the kids would be strtggling.

:04:03. > :04:06.They would be stuck. Today, the County Council outlined the likely

:04:07. > :04:10.cuts over the next three ye`rs. They said the cuts were the toughest in

:04:11. > :04:21.the council's history. The council says it has two cut ?157 million by

:04:22. > :04:25.2018. A further 2000 jobs could go. 23 children's centres, giving

:04:26. > :04:33.support to under fives, could be closed down. Increased charges for

:04:34. > :04:38.care services are likely. It is ruling on now unrelenting

:04:39. > :04:43.towards the next decade. `` rolling on. The cuts are so deep and severe

:04:44. > :04:49.and oil services are being `ffected. We know what has to be saved, but

:04:50. > :04:55.they are going further than that and saying what is the cuts beyond 015.

:04:56. > :05:01.A lot of that is conjecture, I think, and no surprise that there is

:05:02. > :05:07.a general election next year and an opportunity to grab a headlhne.

:05:08. > :05:10.So job losses looming there, but also today the prospect

:05:11. > :05:12.of 20,000 new jobs being crdated across the East Midlands ovdr

:05:13. > :05:17.That's because the Government has announced the first instalmdnt

:05:18. > :05:20.of Growth Deals ` ?12 billion to stimulate local economies.

:05:21. > :05:25.The idea is to take money away from Whitehall and put it dhrectly

:05:26. > :05:29.into the hands of local authorities and businesses.

:05:30. > :05:42.Here's our Chief News reporter Quentin Rayner.

:05:43. > :05:47.This company has only been hn business for two years, but have

:05:48. > :05:52.already got the benefit of this type of funding. They received a grant

:05:53. > :05:57.from another growth fund to buy a new laser cutting machine and have

:05:58. > :06:05.since taken on more staff. Without the funding, we could not continue

:06:06. > :06:10.to grow. A part of the growth was the second machine. Without funding,

:06:11. > :06:14.we would not have got there. Partnerships will be able to spend

:06:15. > :06:23.the Growth Deals's money as they see fit. Across the East Midlands, over

:06:24. > :06:28.?365 million has been alloc`ted The project approved for next ydar and

:06:29. > :06:34.involve ?7 million for a new link road, ?11 million for a new training

:06:35. > :06:41.centre and ?30 million will be spent to help build a brand`new skills Hub

:06:42. > :06:48.on this land. Central College and new College both working in the new

:06:49. > :06:55.building. To train future elployees the skills that employers w`nt. This

:06:56. > :07:00.is significant. This money being given to Derbyshire and

:07:01. > :07:07.Nottinghamshire will unlock a lot of match funding, over ?500 million,

:07:08. > :07:15.18,000 jobs, 8000 homes, many learners and colleges and schools.

:07:16. > :07:20.The exciting thing is that these ideas have come from the East

:07:21. > :07:23.Midlands, not imposed by London It is infrastructure investments,

:07:24. > :07:29.dealing with bottlenecks and investing in the areas, the sectors

:07:30. > :07:38.where East Midlands does well. Firefighters tackling a blaze

:07:39. > :07:41.in a Leicester flat found more than Crews were called to the buhlding

:08:13. > :08:21.discovered in a Derbyshire cave where it lay undisturbed

:08:22. > :08:24.for more than 2,000 years. Archaeologists discovered 26 coins,

:08:25. > :08:29.including three Roman coins and 20 other gold and silver pieces

:08:30. > :08:33.which are Late Iron Age. Experts say it's

:08:34. > :08:35.the first time coins from the two separate civilhsations

:08:51. > :08:54.in our region are waiting for organs The NHS is particularly keen to get

:08:55. > :09:07.more people from the black `nd Asian communities involved where there's

:09:08. > :09:09.a high need for organs. Our Health Correspondent

:09:10. > :09:22.reports from Derby. There haven't been enough donors for

:09:23. > :09:23.years. 59 people died in thd East Midlands last year waiting for a

:10:10. > :10:13.of people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

:10:14. > :10:25.Unfortunately, only 8% of those make up the organ donor register.

:10:26. > :10:29.Spreading the word on the street. I think there's a lack of information

:10:30. > :10:36.and understanding. There ard taboo is that need to be addressed. His

:10:37. > :10:42.message welcome here. This lan owes his life to a heart transpl`nt. It

:10:43. > :10:50.made a great deal of differdnce It was nine years ago. I basic`lly got

:10:51. > :10:55.my life back. To boost transplant numbers, in Wales they are loving to

:10:56. > :10:57.an opt out system rather th`n an opt in system. Some say England may

:10:58. > :11:01.follow. Five pupils have been reprilanded

:11:02. > :11:04.after attempting to escape from their school by digging

:11:05. > :11:09.a hole underneath a securitx fence. It's believed

:11:10. > :11:14.the children were using cutlery It happened at Nottingham's

:11:15. > :11:18.Djanogly Academy school. The school was recently placed in

:11:19. > :11:20.special measures after being rated It's an iconic scene

:11:21. > :11:31.from the classic film The Great Escape and it was recreated to some

:11:32. > :11:34.degree by five daring pupils The children, all under 14,

:11:35. > :11:42.were involved in an audacious attempt to dscape

:11:43. > :11:47.by digging a tunnel underne`th It surrounded the perimeter

:11:48. > :11:53.of the site. Using cutlery like this

:11:54. > :11:57.which was smuggled from the canteen, the pupils have managed to dig

:11:58. > :12:03.a hole under the fence. But that is as far

:12:04. > :12:05.as their plan got as teachers An e`mail sent last week

:12:06. > :12:15.confirmed the escape attempt. It is more controversy

:12:16. > :12:34.for the school which was recently placed in emergency measures

:12:35. > :12:36.after it was rated as inadepuate The school has banned all ptpils

:12:37. > :12:48.under 16 from leaving The attempted breakout may not be on

:12:49. > :13:02.the level of The Great Escape, we're pretty sure that the vaulting horse

:13:35. > :13:41.musical. Leicester's much loved banks ridden teenager...

:13:42. > :13:47.The weather cannot make up hts mind. I will give you more detail later in

:13:48. > :13:55.the programme. An incredibld story. A disabled Derbyshire man is

:13:56. > :13:57.recovering from the challenge of a lifetime after taking on three of

:13:58. > :14:00.Britain's highest mountains, using Will Blanche from has spina bifida

:14:01. > :14:07.and set himself the task of completing the Three Peaks

:14:08. > :14:09.challenge, climbing Ben Nevhs, Skiddaw and Snowdon, somethhng

:14:10. > :14:16.never before attempted in this way. Our reporter Paul Bradshaw

:14:17. > :14:34.has this exclusive report. Three peaks in three days on three

:14:35. > :14:35.wheels. That is the challenge will blanch set himself. He was raising

:14:36. > :14:53.money and awareness. First up, Ben Nevis in north`west

:14:54. > :14:58.Scotland. He set a good early pace on the hand bike, but with

:14:59. > :15:07.conditions worsening and my camera failing the attempt on the lountain

:15:08. > :15:13.was abandoned at the halfwax point. I can't be disappointed. We have

:15:14. > :15:19.done amazing. A new day, a new mountain and he was

:15:20. > :15:24.keen to fare better on Growth Deals in the Lake District, despite the

:15:25. > :15:33.steepness of the ascent, yot made good progress. `` fared better on

:15:39. > :15:44.hours, he crawled the last few feet and made it to the summit. @mazing.

:15:45. > :15:50.Just to get to the top. The highest peak in Wales. Absolutely alazing,

:15:51. > :15:58.could not have done it without that's what's down there. Absolutely

:15:59. > :16:01.phenomenal. Surgery's end hdre with two of the three Peaks clailed and

:16:02. > :16:05.only the extreme weather on Ben Nevis defeating plans. `` the

:16:06. > :16:25.journey ends here. It was very eventful for evdryone

:16:26. > :16:33.concerned. Sometimes there `re not words to describe what people do.

:16:34. > :16:34.We start with a special preview to the eagerly awaited first tdst with

:16:35. > :16:43.India. It starts on Wednesd`y. It starts on Wednesday and guiding

:16:44. > :16:47.fans through it will be the voice Aggers lives in Leicestershhre and

:16:48. > :16:50.is known to millions as the main But what many don't know

:16:51. > :16:54.about Aggers is he's an experienced pilot and takes to

:16:55. > :16:56.skies with his dog, Tino. Last week he took

:16:57. > :16:59.an extra passenger! I bribe him with a bacon sandwich

:17:00. > :17:14.on arrival I've never flown

:17:21. > :17:23.Jonathan would fit The dog looked comfy

:17:24. > :17:34.and we were ready to go. What better way to look ahe`d to the

:17:35. > :18:11.first test against India at Trent England need Cook to get

:18:12. > :18:21.a 100 to win. I think that'll take

:18:22. > :18:24.some pressure off. Not only does he need a win,

:18:25. > :18:27.he needs to score runs. Capt Aggers has held

:18:28. > :18:35.his pilot licence for eight years. Is there a witchhunt against England

:18:36. > :18:41.captain Alastair Cook? Shane Warne's article startdd

:18:42. > :18:43.off about whether he was witnessed For much of the game, he was

:18:44. > :18:52.on a boat in the Greek Isles. There was not one mention of Sam

:18:53. > :18:57.Robson or Stuart Broad's hat`trick. It was all negative about

:18:58. > :19:05.Alastair Cook. There'll be a lot

:19:06. > :19:24.of travelling support for the first And then we were down,

:19:25. > :19:31.our landing has smooth as shlk. My adventure over

:19:32. > :19:45.as England begin at Trent Bridge. More build up tomorrow

:19:46. > :19:52.and there are still a few thckets In the cricket today,

:19:53. > :19:57.Kent are batting on day one of their County Championship match against

:19:58. > :20:06.Leicestershire at Grace Road. Onto football and

:20:07. > :20:09.Leicester City Manager Nigel Pearson is confident David Nugent's new deal

:20:10. > :20:12.will be sorted soon. The out`of`contract striker is still

:20:13. > :20:16.in negotiations but Pearson says he's hopeftl there

:20:17. > :20:20.won't be any major problems. The team returned to pre`se`son

:20:21. > :20:35.training officially today and He was all smiles at the tr`ining

:20:36. > :20:42.ground, he's still at the club while negotiations continue. As whth

:20:43. > :20:48.everything, it has to be right for all of the parties. We will try to

:20:49. > :20:54.get it resolved as soon as possible, we are confident we can do that He

:20:55. > :21:01.says there may be new signings, but not a huge amount. And that he is

:21:02. > :21:09.happy about the squad are ttrning today. Back at training as Premier

:21:10. > :21:11.League players. Exciting tiles, the hard work starts here. Hard work

:21:12. > :21:17.that Leicester hope will st`nd them in good stead. They did so well last

:21:18. > :21:24.year. They deserve to be whdre they are and hopefully as a group we can

:21:25. > :21:28.push on. Give ourselves a n`me in the Premier League. Confidence high,

:21:29. > :21:36.but what can they achieve in the top flight? I'm a lot will have us down

:21:37. > :21:45.in a relegation battle. `` H imagine. We have to perform as well

:21:46. > :21:52.as we can and I think we max surprise a few people. We h`ve

:22:21. > :22:25.unveiled its new musical Adrian Mole which is coming to the theatre next

:22:26. > :22:45.spring, as Victoria Hicks rdports. Pandora captured Adrian Mold's

:22:46. > :22:50.heart. It is hoped the dailx drama of his life will capture

:22:51. > :22:56.theatre`goers, too. Be for her death, Sue Townsend gave thd musical

:22:57. > :23:05.her blessing. She didn't make us feel to know this. We have writing

:23:14. > :23:22.ageing's dilemmas from life in the 1980s still relevant today? Even

:23:23. > :23:28.though there aren't smart hdre, we have set it in 1981, but tednagers

:23:29. > :23:36.are teenagers. You will alw`ys have spots and hormones and kids can

:23:45. > :23:50.being a musical about London or The Full Monty being about the leads.

:23:51. > :23:56.This is deeply rooted in Lehcester. The search for Adrian starts now. We

:23:57. > :24:04.will be holding auditions. We really hope we can capture the

:24:39. > :24:44.across the UK and with that we have moist air and that is a rechpe for

:24:45. > :24:48.some very slow showers. Thex will be around through tomorrow morning We

:24:49. > :24:57.get off to a sunny start, there will be some sunshine around. We still

:24:58. > :25:02.have tonight's showers to gdt rid of. They will push North, they will

:25:03. > :25:07.dry up through the night. Clear spells and mist forming latdr on.

:25:08. > :25:13.Turning a bit cold, down to nine or 10 Celsius. Tomorrow morning, we

:25:14. > :25:16.start off dry, here comes the sunshine, but cloud will pop up

:25:22. > :25:25.showers would be across mord eastern parts. They will line up through

:25:26. > :25:28.Lincolnshire and that is whdre we have a yellow weather warning. We

:25:29. > :25:33.could have a lot of rain in a short space of time. We could get 30
