:00:00. > :00:25.And now your late news for the East That's

:00:26. > :00:27.And now your late news for the East Midlands, I'm Dominic Heale. Good

:00:28. > :00:30.evening. Industrial action by public sector workers is likely to cause

:00:31. > :00:33.widespread disruption across the East Midlands tomorrow. Thotsands of

:00:34. > :00:37.pupils will miss lessons as teachers take part in strikes. It's part of a

:00:38. > :00:39.campaign by six unions to ilprove pay and conditions. Mike

:00:40. > :00:54.O'Sullivan's been looking at the likely impact of the stoppages.

:00:55. > :01:00.Schools and staff working in other authorities do not have to notify

:01:01. > :01:08.their employers if they are going to be off, but many have. Some schools

:01:09. > :01:17.will not open at all, others will be closed partly. Schools are not the

:01:18. > :01:24.only ones affected, leisure centres, libraries and even in collections

:01:25. > :01:30.could be affected. Unions s`y the strike could have a big imp`ct.

:01:31. > :01:36.Local government workers all taking action. There have been pay freezes

:01:37. > :01:53.over the last few years and a 1 offer this year. They are fdeling

:01:54. > :01:56.very angry, like they are bottom of the pile as far as pay rises are

:01:57. > :02:00.concerned. There is no obligation for employees to tell us th`t they

:02:01. > :02:05.are going on strike or not, some have and some have not. We have had

:02:06. > :02:09.to take a day off of school of work to look after the children when they

:02:10. > :02:12.are of school. I do not think it is right they can have a day off

:02:13. > :02:16.whenever they like really. They have had the major cut in their pensions.

:02:17. > :02:26.The pension age is now 68 instead of 60. It has been a relentless attack

:02:27. > :02:33.on our pay and conditions and everything. Firefighters have staged

:02:34. > :02:38.strikes recently and tomorrow they will be out again. We will not

:02:39. > :02:49.respond to emergencies in the same way as we do normally but wd will

:02:50. > :02:54.make a response. Job centres could be affected as civil servants go out

:02:55. > :03:02.on strike. Courts and driving tests could be hit as well. A polhce force

:03:03. > :03:04.is to re`open two historic child sex abuse inquiries, after crithcism in

:03:05. > :03:08.Parliament.The Nottinghamshhre MP, John Mann, claimed several `busers

:03:09. > :03:11.haven't been prosecuted. And he said some files were lost by the police,

:03:12. > :03:23.or destroyed by Nottinghamshire County Council. What I am cdrtain of

:03:24. > :03:30.is that these people traumatised by events as small children ard telling

:03:31. > :03:35.the truth. These things happened to them, horrendous things, thdy

:03:36. > :03:37.deserve justice. In a statelent Nottinghamshire Police said there

:03:38. > :03:40.was a current investigation involving three victims. It would

:03:41. > :03:44.now review allegations made by two further victims. A charity says it

:03:45. > :03:46.fears thousands of blind and visually impaired people in

:03:47. > :03:50.Leicestershire could lose their local support ` if a council cuts

:03:51. > :03:56.funding. Vista offers help, assessments and social activity to

:03:57. > :04:00.more than 3,000 adults. The County Council says it needs to save more

:04:01. > :04:08.than ?20 million from its adults and communities budget. A consultation

:04:09. > :04:11.runs until Sunday. Police in Leicestershire have arrested a man

:04:12. > :04:18.after 39 Audi cars were broken into in just five days. The break`ins

:04:19. > :04:21.happened mainly in the south of the county. Police say the thieves are

:04:22. > :04:25.looking for an emergency kex which is often found in the Audi glovebox.

:04:26. > :04:30.Officers say a 23`year`old lan is in custody but the investigation is

:04:31. > :04:34.still ongoing. A Nottinghamshire family forced to live in different

:04:35. > :04:37.countries for a year have fhnally been reunited. Gill Reagan from

:04:38. > :04:43.Carlton was parted from her American`born husband Herb, because

:04:44. > :04:46.of visa problems. Their forced separation arose when they returned

:04:47. > :04:54.to the UK after a decade volunteering in South Afric`. Emily

:04:55. > :05:00.Anderson reports. All smiles today as the family are finally b`ck

:05:01. > :05:04.together again. We got the `ppeal for the visa because of hum`n

:05:05. > :05:21.rights. They were telling r`dio Nottingham what they have bden

:05:22. > :05:25.through. Herb is an American citizen but had been living in the TK for 12

:05:26. > :05:29.years before the family movdd to South Africa to work as

:05:30. > :05:33.missionaries. When they tridd to leave to come back to the UK last

:05:34. > :05:40.year Herb was told he could not come back to the UK because his Visa had

:05:41. > :05:50.expired. He had to go back to the United States. I needed to be back

:05:51. > :06:00.with my family. With Herb gone the mother and her family had to start a

:06:01. > :06:05.new life back in Carrollton. We thought it might just be a few days

:06:06. > :06:09.to get it sorted out. There are just so many things you need to do when

:06:10. > :06:15.you first move house and to have that without Herb around was really

:06:16. > :06:25.difficult. After a lengthy `ppeal battle a judge ruled in his favour.

:06:26. > :06:29.He is finally here so we can play games and stuff and do things

:06:30. > :06:33.normally at the family. I w`s so glad to see him again. It h`s been a

:06:34. > :06:44.welcome return for the family again as they are delighted to have Herb

:06:45. > :06:50.back home. . So, it's goodbxe from me, but with your weather now,

:06:51. > :06:56.here's Kaye. Things will be going downhill tomorrow. We have ` weather

:06:57. > :07:02.front pushing in from the e`st. Dry at the moment with some cle`r spells

:07:03. > :07:08.pushing in to the west. Thex will be more of a freeze. The rain `lready

:07:09. > :07:14.arriving to the east coast through the morning. It will slowly move

:07:15. > :07:21.westwards but there is still some uncertainty as to how far wdst it

:07:22. > :07:26.will get. We could have an Dast /west split where western areas will

:07:27. > :07:32.stay dry. Temperatures around 1 Celsius in the West. Warming up for

:07:33. > :07:32.the and humid, with heavy and under in

:07:33. > :07:46.showers. Today has been the quietest weather

:07:47. > :07:50.day of this week. We had 24 Celsius in Carlisle in the sunshine. It did

:07:51. > :07:55.struggle on the North Sea coast with the wind, but you can see two

:07:56. > :07:57.weather fronts advancing in under the mass of cloud. Our window for

:07:58. > :08:05.fine weather will diminish overnight stop it has been windy. North Sea

:08:06. > :08:06.Gales, and that wind continues
