:00:00. > :00:15.That's all from us. Now, time for the news where you are.

:00:16. > :00:18.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn.

:00:19. > :00:21.Government figures show that pay here in the East Midlands has seen

:00:22. > :00:24.the biggest drop in the country over the past year.

:00:25. > :00:26.People in this region earn, on average,

:00:27. > :00:31.6.7% less than 12 months ago, despite one of the highest increases

:00:32. > :00:44.Our Political Editor John Hess can tell us more.

:00:45. > :00:51.What are the people supposed to believe about the state of the

:00:52. > :00:55.economy in the east Midlands. Recent figures showed the biggest rate of

:00:56. > :01:03.unemployment. But what has happened to pay? The statistics come from the

:01:04. > :01:11.Office of National Statistics, based on surveys, rather than employers

:01:12. > :01:17.returns. In our region, which had the best news and jobs, it saw the

:01:18. > :01:24.biggest drop in pay. In the East Midlands, average weekly earnings

:01:25. > :01:32.stood at ?491, but one year ago, that figure was ?527, a drop of 37

:01:33. > :01:38.pounds per week. No other region has seen any comparable loss. This will

:01:39. > :01:42.add fuel to the argument that say the new jobs being created are not

:01:43. > :01:49.as good or as well`paid as those lost. In the East Midlands, the

:01:50. > :01:57.sharp drop seems to be that the jobs on offer are often zero hours

:01:58. > :02:03.contracts, minimum wage jobs. We want sustainability, an economy

:02:04. > :02:13.built on proper work for a proper wages. That is unrealistic according

:02:14. > :02:18.to one boss. More runs its cleaning farm and pieces to have the minimum

:02:19. > :02:24.wage. I want to keep their wages as they are as it gives me continuity.

:02:25. > :02:29.put a lot of pressure on myself in put a lot of pressure on myself in

:02:30. > :02:35.the business. Our people content with squeezed pay packets? I have

:02:36. > :02:38.had a pay freeze for about four years. We have been offered a couple

:02:39. > :02:48.of percent from next year, but it is not enough. If someone offers it to

:02:49. > :02:52.me I am obviously going to say yes. But costs seem to rise a lot more

:02:53. > :02:59.than you wages. It does not seem to be getting any better. When

:03:00. > :03:05.mortgages start to rise again? In a recent survey, employers said they

:03:06. > :03:12.would be awarding pay rises in line with inflation and sum in excess of

:03:13. > :03:14.it. As Diamond Falls, while in patients pay continue to dominate

:03:15. > :03:19.the political agenda? Royal Crown Derby is shutting

:03:20. > :03:22.down production for three weeks, The pottery firm has already been

:03:23. > :03:26.running on a four`day week because Now, it has decided

:03:27. > :03:41.a total shutdown is necessary. A and destroy part of Darby says

:03:42. > :03:46.study for hundreds of years. But demand for some products has fallen

:03:47. > :03:51.and since 2009, the workers had been on a four`day week contract. On

:03:52. > :03:57.Monday, the production line will grind to a halt. They advise the

:03:58. > :04:03.members to back this change in production. They hope to safeguard

:04:04. > :04:07.all the jobs at the site. When the company was taken over in 2012, they

:04:08. > :04:11.said they were determined to get workers back on to full`time

:04:12. > :04:16.contracts, but the turnaround is taking longer than expected.

:04:17. > :04:18.Management say they are offering voluntary redundancies, but a

:04:19. > :04:28.decision like that has not been taken lightly. We said there was a

:04:29. > :04:32.danger of a shutdown. That clearly emphasise the importance of the

:04:33. > :04:36.change. We are keeping everyone fully informed and keeping them on

:04:37. > :04:40.board with us. We believe that taking these measures now will

:04:41. > :04:47.secure the future and we will be able to move forward in a positive

:04:48. > :04:51.way. Royal Crown Derby is the only porcelain company in the country to

:04:52. > :04:57.have survived over 250 years, there are hoping that the tough choices

:04:58. > :04:58.being made now will safeguard the future of the company in decades to

:04:59. > :05:01.come. Three people arrested

:05:02. > :05:03.in connection with the death of a seven`year`old girl in Nottingham

:05:04. > :05:05.have been released on bail. Shanay Walker's body was found

:05:06. > :05:07.at a house Two women and a man were arrested

:05:08. > :05:13.on suspicion of murder yesterday. Shanay's aunt Kay`Ann

:05:14. > :05:15.Morris has already been A medical student from Derbyshire

:05:16. > :05:21.killed in Borneo is to be given Neil Dalton from Ambergate was on a

:05:22. > :05:25.hospital work placement in Malaysia, Newcastle University is honouring

:05:26. > :05:28.him with a posthumous MBBS. Fellow student Aiden Brunger,

:05:29. > :05:30.who was also killed, This weekend sees the annual

:05:31. > :05:39.re`enactment of the Battle of Bosworth and organisers say it

:05:40. > :05:42.could be one of their biggest yet. Richard III's rediscovery has seen

:05:43. > :05:46.visitor numbers to Bosworth soar. Thousands of people are expected to

:05:47. > :06:03.attend this weekend and hundreds They will see our team in full

:06:04. > :06:10.power, Phil always, genuine period armour and is close to a real war as

:06:11. > :06:16.you're likely to find. Richard III is going to lose, but it is still

:06:17. > :06:21.great to be involved. We have made the arena bigger than it has ever

:06:22. > :06:28.been before. We don't have an extra field. It really will be quite a

:06:29. > :06:31.spectacular event and we are all very much looking forward to it.

:06:32. > :06:34.If you are heading to that or up to anything else outside this weekend,

:06:35. > :06:46.In a few moments, a full national forecast, but for now, I will leave

:06:47. > :06:55.Not too bad, but things are set to continue trying to tomorrow, but it

:06:56. > :07:03.could get very windy on Sunday. Join overnight tonight. In towns and

:07:04. > :07:10.cities, a low temperature of 12 Celsius. A lot of sunshine about if

:07:11. > :07:13.you're up and about Italy. Cloud will continue to increase during the

:07:14. > :07:15.course of the day and a lot of sunshine about if you're up and

:07:16. > :07:18.about Italy. Cloud will continue to increase during the course of the

:07:19. > :07:23.day in but it should be a dry day for most of us, whether they of 19

:07:24. > :07:30.Celsius. Into Sunday morning, a call from coming in from the Sea. Try and

:07:31. > :07:33.break again, but you will see the wind picking up. I will leave you

:07:34. > :07:37.with the outlook look at the summary, as you can see

:07:38. > :07:39.- it is largely dry, but definitely fresher.

:07:40. > :07:46.Good evening. This weekend's forecast may be far from a summer

:07:47. > :07:51.classic, with a strengthening breeze. At least it is not a

:07:52. > :07:57.washout. For many, there'll be decent and dry spells to get out and

:07:58. > :08:01.enjoy. Most are dry. We have a few heavy showers, drifting

:08:02. > :08:05.south-eastwards. A few showers into the north-west of the UK. For the

:08:06. > :08:10.vast majority it is a dry night, with lengthy clear spells. More

:08:11. > :08:17.cloud later. Temperatures 11-13 Celsius. In the suburbs and the

:08:18. > :08:21.countryside down to single digits. A cool start to Saturday morning.

:08:22. > :08:25.Cloud from the north-west of Scotland, with outbreaks of rain,

:08:26. > :08:28.will work southwards. Into the afternoon it will be across southern

:08:29. > :08:32.Scotland and the far north of England. You can expect more cloud

:08:33. > :08:38.over the rest of England and Wales. All in all, a decent day. Few

:08:39. > :08:43.showers for many of you. In the sunshine it should feel warm. 18-23

:08:44. > :08:47.Celsius is possible. Some of the best conditions on the south coast.

:08:48. > :08:48.Thicker cloud into
