:01:19. > :01:22.at a hospital's accident and emergency department had done
:01:23. > :01:25.their job properly. It was at the infamous
:01:26. > :01:29.Stafford Hospital where failings meant the 20`year`old's injtry,
:01:30. > :01:31.after a mountain bike acciddnt Over now to our health
:01:32. > :01:50.correspondent, Rob Sissons, It was a case of being in the wrong
:01:51. > :01:53.place at the wrong time. John Moore`Robinson was on what was meant
:01:54. > :01:56.to be a great day out mount`in biking at Cannock Chase in
:01:57. > :02:02.Staffordshire, when he came off his bike. The handlebars twisted and hit
:02:03. > :02:08.him with real force just below the ribs, he suffered a ruptured spleen.
:02:09. > :02:13.That was not picked up at Stafford Hospital. They sent him homd where
:02:14. > :02:14.he died the next day. He left hospital, vomiting, unable to walk,
:02:15. > :02:24.breathless. They called him a gentle gi`nt. It
:02:25. > :02:29.has been a hard search for `nswers and his family had to go to the High
:02:30. > :02:33.Court for a second inquest. To lose a loved one is the lost
:02:34. > :02:38.difficult life event we must face. To go through this grief to be
:02:39. > :02:41.surrounded by lies and deceht, covering up the poor care they
:02:42. > :02:48.received, is something no one should ever face. We had to walk this path
:02:49. > :02:54.together to get justice for John, and make our NHS a safe place for
:02:55. > :03:13.everybody. The South Leicestershire coroner found a series of pfennigs
:03:14. > :03:21.at Stafford, and said this. Stafford Hospital at the tile was in
:03:22. > :03:24.meltdown. It is obvious now, low staffing levels.
:03:25. > :03:28.It was an appalling hospital, lots of people suffered, lots of people
:03:29. > :03:33.died unnecessarily. Stafford Hospital Didio said sorry,
:03:34. > :03:37.knowing the 20`year`old's lhfe should have been saved. This former
:03:38. > :03:42.consultant told me he had tried to get things to prove there. Couldn't
:03:43. > :03:44.you have tried harder? I halmered and hammered to try to get changes
:03:45. > :03:47.made, but nothing happened. John was a lad who worked h`rd
:03:48. > :03:50.and he played hard. That was denied him
:03:51. > :04:08.by incompetent people. The family planned to contact the
:04:09. > :04:11.chief coroner for England. They want to ask more questions. We dhd ask
:04:12. > :04:13.Stafford Hospital for an interview but they told us no one was
:04:14. > :04:25.available. Another Fire Service today cut front
:04:26. > :04:27.line services to help balance its books, and revealed it was
:04:28. > :04:29.looking at introducing charges We reported yesterday how
:04:30. > :04:32.Leicestershire wants to losd Today, it was Nottinghamshire,
:04:33. > :04:35.where the fire fighters' unhon says scrapping two appliances

:14:08. > :14:09.because they cannot use car parks, parking machinery, their cars don't
:14:10. > :14:13.fit, they have to park near to where they are going because they can only
:14:14. > :14:16.It can impede you getting about because you can't find a
:14:17. > :14:25.It is benefit fraud in many ways, are you surprised how lightly it is
:14:26. > :14:27.treated, is it treated harshly enough?
:14:28. > :14:30.Some local authorities do nothing, they say it is not common.
:14:31. > :14:39.Unless you are enforcing the scheme and chdcking
:14:40. > :14:42.badges and people who are gdnuine badge holders, you have no hdea
:14:43. > :14:50.It seems people see it as a way to avoid paying parking
:14:51. > :14:52.fees, cheating the system, getting a few quid for nothhng.
:14:53. > :14:56.It really is something that councils need to crack down on and sort it
:14:57. > :14:59.out, or the blue badge schele is soon to become a scheme which is no
