:03:08. > :03:09.helps a lot of people. It is not selfish but it helps a lot

:03:10. > :03:16.of people on a daily basis. It boosted my confidence

:03:17. > :03:19.and motivated me to get a good I think, to be honest,

:03:20. > :03:22.helping children achieve what they want to achieve

:04:08. > :04:09.called the Hiphopera, It was a chance for the actors

:04:10. > :04:15.to show him what they've achieved. It feels special that he has come

:04:16. > :04:19.down here, so that I was able to see him in the flesh as well

:04:20. > :04:22.and not just on camera and stuff. It was really good performing

:04:23. > :04:25.in front of Prince Harry. He is an inspiration to me,

:04:26. > :04:28.and I think it gave me a bit more courage and it made me want to,

:04:29. > :04:31.like, give a better performance, Let's speak to Mick Dawber,

:04:41. > :04:53.Prince Harry's support has I think his presence has bedn a bit

:04:54. > :04:57.of gold dust on the community. But it is deeper than that. The young

:04:58. > :05:00.people appreciate how important he is, and it makes them understand

:05:01. > :05:07.somebody cares about them. It has been a big day?

:05:08. > :05:10.Massive, because there have been TV cameras and people, so the kids have

:05:11. > :05:14.been a bit overwhelmed but it makes them understand it is a big deal. It

:09:26. > :09:28.they've got almost 1,000 head of cattle.

:09:29. > :09:31.With the sheep to look after too, it's a daunting task to keep

:09:32. > :09:35.the animals healthy, particularly for a newly qualified vet.

:09:36. > :09:38.It's very, very difficult for young vets.

:09:39. > :09:41.They leave the university environment, where you have

:09:42. > :09:43.got all of your friends and peers for support,

:09:44. > :09:48.and lots of university lecturers, and then you're out

:09:49. > :09:52.It's a very big transition if they're going into a small mixed

:09:53. > :09:56.practice in an area where none of their friends and family

:09:57. > :09:59.necessarily are from, and where they don't have any

:10:00. > :10:05.of their friends nearby, so socially it can be very isolating.

:10:06. > :10:08.Despite the British Veterinary Association's concerns,

:10:09. > :10:10.at the University of Nottingham, which offers the only veterhnary

:10:11. > :10:15.they're confident they can leet the demands for new vets.

:10:16. > :10:18.We have one of Europe's leading schools on farm animal

:10:22. > :10:26.We still have 25% or more undergraduates wishing

:10:27. > :10:29.to work in rural practice, and many of them go into rural

:10:30. > :10:34.There are not many jobs, when you bring life into thd world

:10:35. > :10:36.and you watch that little c`lf running around,

:10:37. > :10:40.and then you have a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise.

:10:48. > :10:53.Jim Davis, BBC East Midlands Today, Leicestershire.

:10:54. > :10:56.Before we came on air, I spoke to James Russell,

:10:57. > :10:59.regional representative of the British Veterinary

:11:00. > :11:03.Association, and began by asking him if it was true that young vets felt

:11:04. > :11:10.Certainly we are very proud of the vets that we have here,

:11:11. > :11:13.and of the fact that they do tend to stay with us.

:11:14. > :11:16.But we do recognise from thd survey that it has been

:11:17. > :11:22.87% of them will quote location as a reason why, or a consideration

:11:23. > :11:30.Because, clearly, veterinarx practice is often in the middle

:11:31. > :11:37.Absolutely, and that is both the draw and the disadvantage of it,

:11:38. > :11:41.but I think that the answer to this will have lots of aspects,

:11:42. > :11:44.but will ultimately be about making sure that our vets feel valued

:11:45. > :11:46.within the rural community of which they are a part.

:11:47. > :11:50.Do you encourage them to john societies or to link up

:11:51. > :11:57.Yeah, absolutely, and both of those, Dominic, you have touched

:11:58. > :12:02.We have a young vet network which runs right across the country,

:12:03. > :12:05.bringing young vets together, but also organisations that exist

:12:06. > :12:09.Things like the Young Farmers Association can be hugely valuable

:12:10. > :12:12.in making sure that people have relationships outside

:12:13. > :12:18.And just very briefly, what would be the situation if more

:12:19. > :12:21.vets do leave the countryside and more do not join?

:12:22. > :12:25.Well, I think it will mean that I am working more nights,

:12:26. > :12:27.and that will not be good for anybody.

:12:28. > :12:32.Really, it becomes much harder to offer a service, obviously.

:12:33. > :12:40.James Russell, thanks very much for talking to us.

:12:41. > :12:43.A Derbyshire MP has told the Prime Minister a new junction

:12:44. > :12:48.In the Commons, the Conservative MP for Erewash, Maggie Throup,

:12:57. > :12:59.There are concerns a new HS2 rail hub in Nottinghamshire could cause

:13:00. > :13:04.I understand Highways England are looking at the issues

:13:05. > :13:09.They are looking at bringing forward significant new road enhancdments

:13:10. > :13:12.around the expected site of the new East Midlands

:13:13. > :13:16.HS2 station, and going forward, they are looking at an audit

:13:17. > :13:19.of roads in the area, and I trust that my honourable

:13:23. > :13:25.of her constituents, as she has done in the past.

:13:26. > :13:27.There won't be an official "switch-on" of the Christmas

:13:34. > :13:39.It says it's had to scale back Derby's Christmas programme due

:13:40. > :13:41.to a lack of funding, putting on a "reduced"

:13:42. > :13:47.Health authorities in Leicester are stepping up their fight

:14:00. > :14:02.at De Montfort University to make an online video to raise

:14:03. > :14:06.awareness of the disease - a bacterial infection that mainly

:14:07. > :14:11.It's been promoted in Leicester and has been welcomed by patients,

:14:12. > :14:18.Until recently, this was impossible for Edina.

:14:19. > :14:23.She is undergoing daily tre`tment for TB, and simply leaving the house

:14:24. > :14:31.I was so shocked that for one minute or two minutes

:14:32. > :14:38.It was very hard because I had to take many tablets,

:14:39. > :14:47.and then those tablets caused me vomiting and not feeling very well.

:14:48. > :14:50.TB is a national problem, but it is particularly prev`lent

:14:51. > :14:54.in Leicester, which is why health experts in partnership

:14:55. > :14:58.with De Montfort University are launching this online vhdeo

:14:59. > :15:04.It is just an informative animation, a short three-minute one, to

:15:26. > :15:29.a considerable amount of time living in countries

:15:30. > :15:31.where there's lots of TB about, so a lot of TB

:15:32. > :15:39.And we have managed to reduce the incidence by approximately 50%

:15:40. > :15:43.That is because of a system`tic prevention programme,

:15:44. > :15:49.It is a modern method of fighting what is often perceived

:19:15. > :19:20.They'll join up with the national squad after this weekend's crucial

:19:21. > :19:22.match away to the league leaders Saracens.

:19:23. > :19:39.With more than 120 caps between them, it is no surprise to see Dan

:19:40. > :19:44.Cole and Ben Youngs called by their country once again. The inclusion of

:19:45. > :19:47.21-year-old Ellis shows the Tigers have got another young star on their

:19:48. > :19:51.hands. I am delighted that he is in there

:19:52. > :19:54.for the first time for the `utumn for the first time for the `utumn

:19:55. > :19:57.series, in the wider group of the 33. Dan Cole and Ben Youngs you

:19:58. > :20:00.would expect to be there because they have been there throughout and

:20:04. > :20:06.we have a rich heritage of English players, England players in the

:20:07. > :20:11.team. I am delighted. The first test is against South

:20:12. > :20:15.Africa at Twickenham in a couple of weeks, but there is first work to be

:20:16. > :20:19.done here, because Tigers travel to Saracens on Saturday and after

:20:20. > :20:22.beating the French champions last weekend, they now take on the

:20:23. > :20:27.reigning English champions. But they will have to do so without their

:20:36. > :20:40.another blow in what has been an up-and-down season so far. Three

:20:41. > :20:44.defeats in eight games, maybe not the standard that Tigers fans have

:20:45. > :20:48.come to expect. After that defeat to Glasgow, you said last week you were

:20:49. > :20:51.sitting having to answer questions about your own job. Is rugbx and the
