:00:07. > :00:07.Now programme tonight: The drugs blunder that

:00:08. > :00:14.killed an elderly care home resident.

:00:15. > :00:22.The 78-year-old woman was ghven a painkiller meant for a resident with

:00:23. > :00:26.the same name. Also tonight, a family's despair as the mother

:00:27. > :00:30.suffers a brain haemorrhage while swimming on holiday. I got the back

:00:31. > :00:37.of her life vest and lifted her face up on the lips were blue. Plus, an

:00:38. > :00:47.appeal to employers from employees with autism. We should not be made

:00:48. > :00:52.ashamed of being different. It's as simple as that. The biggest and best

:00:53. > :01:10.outside India. Leicester celebrates Diwali in style.

:01:11. > :01:14.First tonight, the wrong drtg given to the wrong care home resident

:01:15. > :01:17.The blunder ended up costing Patricia Rosen her life.

:01:18. > :01:23.It happened just hours after she'd moved in to a nursing home

:01:24. > :01:26.An inquest in Leicester tod`y heard now the medication mistake three

:01:27. > :01:28.years ago has left Patricia's grieving family

:01:29. > :01:37.How could such a catastrophhc error have happened?

:01:38. > :01:39.Our health correspondent was at today's hearing.

:01:40. > :01:47.was a painkiller given and a very high dose?

:01:48. > :01:55.That's right. We are talking about a controlled drug which is a

:01:56. > :01:58.painkiller and also and opi`tes If you were starting out on thhs

:01:59. > :02:04.medication for painkilling reasons, you would expect about 500 lg to be

:02:05. > :02:08.given or 16 times the level was that those given to Patricia Rosdn and it

:02:09. > :02:11.was meant further, but another patient called Patricia in the home.

:02:12. > :02:19.It was given to the wrong pdrson. Patricia Rosen's first night of the

:02:20. > :02:27.nursing comeback in Februarx 20 3 was to be her last. A error proved

:02:28. > :02:31.fatal. She should never havd been given the painkiller. Her f`mily

:02:32. > :02:36.arrived uttered a's inquest to hear some difficult evidence. Thdre have

:02:37. > :02:40.been concerns that the home raised about staffing levels during the

:02:41. > :02:45.night time. The former deputy manager said she stayed latd to

:02:46. > :02:49.brief a new agency care nurse who gave the fatal dose about the system

:02:50. > :02:54.for administering the drugs there. She says with hindsight, shd should

:02:55. > :02:57.have stayed even longer. Thd drugs round was already running four hours

:02:58. > :03:02.late and it was after midnight when she left, because she was on duty

:03:03. > :03:06.the next morning. Patricia's family left with two more days of dvidence

:03:07. > :03:07.to hear which they hope will shed more light on what went so

:03:08. > :03:09.tragically wrong. Rob, this case raises some

:03:10. > :03:19.important issues, doesn't it? I think so. It raises the issue of

:03:20. > :03:23.how easy it is for an agencx care nurse to slip into a night shift at

:03:24. > :03:28.a unfamiliar place and learn all about the systems used therd and how

:03:29. > :03:31.easy that is. It also raises questions about staffing levels in

:03:32. > :03:36.this care home back in 2013 and the night in question when they didn't

:03:37. > :03:41.have the highest number of people they normally do and had to buy in

:03:42. > :03:43.agency cover. We will hear lore evidence throughout the inqtest

:03:44. > :03:55.Yes, that's right. There was an investigation by Leicester police

:03:56. > :03:59.and it was eventually refer to the Crown Prosecution Service who

:04:00. > :04:02.decided not to bring charges against anyone. They are continuing the

:04:03. > :04:05.inquest and there will be more evidence read in the next fdw days

:04:06. > :04:08.and they are expecting its conclude at the end of the week. Thank you.

:04:09. > :04:10.A family is urging holiday travellers to take out insurance

:04:11. > :04:13.covering all eventualities after a 39-year-old mother fell

:04:14. > :04:19.Katy Head from Derby sufferdd a burst blood vessel in her head,

:04:20. > :04:25.and is now is expected to spend months in intensive care in Athens.

:04:26. > :04:30.She IS insured, but her husband is now relying on internet donations

:04:31. > :04:37.On the Greek island of Kos, it was meant to be the holiday of a

:04:38. > :04:40.lifetime for members of the Head family from Derby to celebr`te

:04:41. > :04:45.Craig, Katie and young son, Leighton, were enjoying

:04:46. > :04:48.this boat trip ten days ago when seconds after this picture was

:04:49. > :04:51.taken, Craig realised something was seriously wrong with Katie.

:04:52. > :04:53.By the time I'd reached her, her face was

:04:54. > :04:58.down in the water and I grabbed her back at by her life vest, ptlled

:04:59. > :05:01.Katie had actually suffered an aneurysm,

:05:02. > :05:03.a burst blood vessel in

:05:04. > :05:07.She was taken by ambulance to Kos hospital and was airlifted

:05:08. > :05:10.to a neurological hospital hn Athens where Craig and Leighton evdntually

:05:11. > :05:18.Back in Derby, Craig's mum says insurance that Katie and son

:05:19. > :05:27.Leighton had covered it, but Craig had separate insurance.

:05:28. > :05:30.Now the firm Katie's using says it has paid all the

:05:31. > :05:32.maximum extra cash for Craig to stay in Athens.

:05:33. > :05:35.The family now say they wish they'd checked the details on

:05:36. > :05:40.Check how much cover you will have and how long xou

:05:41. > :05:44.can stop out there for, because it's not just the p`tient,

:05:45. > :05:47.Katie has got millions of pounds worth of medical

:05:48. > :05:50.insurance, but it's the othdr part that costs you, that you nedd to

:05:51. > :05:53.Travel experts say your instrance must cover hospital care

:05:54. > :05:55.in some countries that we take for granted.

:05:56. > :05:58.If you're in a country such as Spain, say, or Greece, they have

:05:59. > :06:01.very good medical care on the state, but they don't always provide for

:06:02. > :06:03.people to look after you in terms of changing

:06:04. > :06:04.bed sheets and bringing in food.

:06:05. > :06:07.It is expected in those countries that local families will

:06:08. > :06:10.So always check the terms and conditions of your policy.

:06:11. > :06:13.But if you spend up to ?60 ` year for an

:06:14. > :06:18.annual policy, you should get all of that.

:06:19. > :06:20.What we would not recommend is

:06:21. > :06:23.travelling without a policy and secondly, getting a verx cheap

:06:24. > :06:26.Craig's now relying on Internet donations to stay in

:06:27. > :06:29.Greece, while Sharon's had to spend ?1000 of her own money

:06:30. > :06:40.Police have confirmed a 30-xear old woman has died after being struck

:06:41. > :06:46.It happened at just after 7pm last night on a level crossing

:06:47. > :06:50.The woman's death isn't being treated as suspicious.

:06:51. > :06:52.Volunteers came together today to search for a missing wom`n

:06:53. > :07:00.22-year-old Melanie Wilson hasn t been seen for almost a fortnight.

:07:01. > :07:05.The last time was October 18 in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

:07:06. > :07:07.Search group, "Where there's Hope" met in Mansfield today

:07:08. > :07:11.The organiser says it's unusual for her not to be in

:07:12. > :07:17.Obviously, she is very big with social media.

:07:18. > :07:21.All her friends and family say they hear from her every

:07:22. > :07:24.day and nobody's heard anything and she's not been

:07:25. > :07:27.Still to come: The old soldhers helping future generations

:07:28. > :07:31.In Leicester, Veterans of the Korean War have spokdn

:07:32. > :07:34.of their experience in a new film about the conflict

:07:35. > :07:51.which claimed three million casualties.

:07:52. > :07:56.The judge as warned of the danger of carrying knives.

:07:57. > :07:58.A man has been convicted of murdering a teenager outside

:07:59. > :08:01.21-year-old Dominic Hallidax-Fox stabbed 17-year-old

:08:02. > :08:05.The attacker has been sentenced to at least 23 years in prison.

:08:06. > :08:08.The judge said as long as young men carry knives, lives will be lost

:08:09. > :08:21.It was outside the Empire b`r in Derbyshire in the early hours of the

:08:22. > :08:25.10th of April. Here, miner from Leicester was stabbed by Dolinic

:08:26. > :08:30.Halliday-Fox from Derby. Thd court heard they did not know each other.

:08:31. > :08:35.Dante Francis did plunge Dolinic Halliday-Fox as the jury saw on

:08:36. > :08:37.CCTV. They then saw Dominic Halliday-Fox drawing knife `nd

:08:38. > :08:42.stabbed the teenager. Dominhc Halliday-Fox claims he thought Dante

:08:43. > :08:48.Francis had a knife and onlx carried his for protection. But tod`y, the

:08:49. > :08:52.jury decided it was murder. Diana Francis, Dante Francis's mother said

:08:53. > :08:55.his girlfriend was pregnant and described how devastating it is for

:08:56. > :09:00.the family. She actually tr`velled in the ambulance with her son and

:09:01. > :09:04.while he was still awake, and they held hands and he said, it hs OK

:09:05. > :09:08.mother. Now with the last thme they spoke. I can't imagine what his

:09:09. > :09:12.mother was going through at that point after standing court `nd say

:09:13. > :09:15.those things. I just hope that in doing that, it gives her an

:09:16. > :09:20.opportunity to move past thdse tragic events. Will Derbyshhre

:09:21. > :09:25.police be doing more about knife crime? Operations are running in

:09:26. > :09:29.relation to knife crime and it is in power at the importance of

:09:30. > :09:36.emphasising to youngsters the dangers of carrying knives. Just

:09:37. > :09:41.stop doing it. The judge sahd to Dominic Halliday-Fox, as long as

:09:42. > :09:45.young men like you are carrxing knives, more young lives will be

:09:46. > :09:48.lost and families torn apart. He sentenced him to a minimum of 2

:09:49. > :09:52.years in prison before he c`n be considered for release.

:09:53. > :09:55.Three men continue to be qudstioned by police after a man was found dead

:09:56. > :10:01.Promise Ndlovu was found in a car park at an industrial unit off

:10:02. > :10:09.The three men were arrested on suspicion of murder.

:10:10. > :10:11.The boss of Nottingham's two biggest hospitals has

:10:12. > :10:15.hinted that a full merger with the Sherwood Forest

:10:16. > :10:21.The merger process has been halted, because the Queens Medical Centre

:10:22. > :10:24.needs to concentrate on waiting times at A

:10:25. > :10:26.There's also continued uncertainty over who'll foot the massivd private

:10:27. > :10:35.Peter Homa says a scaled down "partnership" is now more lhkely.

:10:36. > :10:38.The proposed merger is now a more distant prospect.

:10:39. > :10:40.What we will do is work collaboratively with our

:10:41. > :10:41.colleagues at Sherwood Forest in a long-term

:10:42. > :10:42.partnership, focusing on

:10:43. > :10:45.The reason for the merger was concerns

:10:46. > :10:48.by the Care Quality Commisshon, and I think these have been

:10:49. > :10:50.substantially addressed by very good work at

:10:51. > :11:00.For most of his working lifd, Arran Linton-Smith from Nottingham

:11:01. > :11:05.It was only when he was diagnosed with autism that his workpl`ce

:11:06. > :11:09.His story is now part of a new campaign

:11:10. > :11:11.by the National Autistic Society who are trying to raise

:11:12. > :11:17.This evening, the 60-year-old is in Westminster talking

:11:18. > :11:19.to politicians about autism and employment.

:11:20. > :11:25.Arran Linton-Smith from Nottingham has had a wide range of jobs.

:11:26. > :11:27.He struggled with some and was asked to

:11:28. > :11:30.Four years ago, problems at work became clear when

:11:31. > :11:37.at the age of 56, he was diagnosed with autism.

:11:38. > :11:47.There's a huge stigma attached to autism.

:11:48. > :11:49.A lot of autistic people are frightened of entering

:11:50. > :11:52.A lot of workplaces are frightened of employing someone

:11:53. > :11:55.who is different, because they often feel threatened as a result of that.

:11:56. > :11:58.He's a senior consultant at one of the world's biggest support and

:11:59. > :12:02.He wants to help more employees understand the

:12:03. > :12:04.benefits that autistic people bring to the workplace.

:12:05. > :12:07.I'm frequently speaking up `nd I did write

:12:08. > :12:11.solutions to problems away before the rest of the design team actually

:12:12. > :12:20.Arran Linton-Smith is a rarhty within a minority.

:12:21. > :12:22.A survey by the National Autistic Society found that

:12:23. > :12:24.many autistic people are struggling to find jobs.

:12:25. > :12:37.32% had either full-time or part-time jobs, that compares

:12:38. > :12:40.40% of autistic people had never worked.

:12:41. > :12:42.Arran Linton-Smith's now part of the new autism and emploxment

:12:43. > :12:43.campaign by the National Autistic Society.

:12:44. > :12:46.This afternoon, he's been up Parliament sharing his work

:12:47. > :12:51.Fortunately, I work for a l`rge organisation and I'm in a sdnior

:12:52. > :12:55.In that position, I can influence change with confidence.

:12:56. > :12:58.And that's what I've done, H've been open about my autism.

:12:59. > :13:00.In my role, I feel very strongly about leaving the

:13:01. > :13:02.door open for the next generation of autistic

:13:03. > :13:03.adults as they enter the

:13:04. > :13:23.A little earlier this afternoon I spoke to Sarah Lambert who hs head

:13:24. > :13:25.of policy Abbey National Autistic Society. I began by asking just how

:13:26. > :13:28.many people have the condithon. One in 100 people in the UK have

:13:29. > :13:31.autism and what we found from our research last week is that ` 16

:13:32. > :13:34.are in full-time paid work. One as we surveyed those autistic

:13:35. > :13:36.people not in work, the majority said

:13:37. > :13:42.they wanted to work and just needed more help both from the Govdrnment

:13:43. > :13:45.the job centre plus and employers, too, to make sure they get the right

:13:46. > :13:53.What sort of help are you talking about?

:13:54. > :13:56.This would be things like stpport in terms of social interacthon

:13:57. > :13:59.Also, within the workplace there maybe adjustments

:14:00. > :14:05.that need making so the envhronment is autism friendly.

:14:06. > :14:07.Lots of autistic people havd problems with bright

:14:08. > :14:10.lights or loud noises, so he can be about making

:14:11. > :14:12.simple adjustments in

:14:13. > :14:15.the workplace so people can concentrate and get on with their

:14:16. > :14:19.Presumably, that's really about employers and people hn

:14:20. > :14:22.the workplace being more aw`re and be more accepting?

:14:23. > :14:28.But the campaign we've just launched, we

:14:29. > :14:31.also launched a short film showing some of the difficulties autistic

:14:32. > :14:33.people can find through the interview process, which looks at

:14:34. > :14:35.communication difficulties they might experience and also some of

:14:36. > :14:43.the sensory things that I've just mentioned.

:14:44. > :14:45.You can see that film at

:14:46. > :14:49.And how will you persuade everyone to watch that?

:14:50. > :14:51.Well, over a million people have already,

:14:52. > :14:55.so it's been going out through social media over the

:14:56. > :14:59.weekend and we do encourage all your viewers to take a look as wdll.

:15:00. > :15:05.As we enter the season of Remembrance, a phrase yot often

:15:06. > :15:11.But over the last 60 years, Korea has become known

:15:12. > :15:15.To redress this, Leicestershire County Counchl has

:15:16. > :15:18.just released a film to reflect the memories of veterans from

:15:19. > :15:29.NEWSREEL: UN Troops driven from the bloodiest fighting

:15:30. > :15:31.of the winter see American farmers pulverise the Reds

:15:32. > :15:35.The Korean War started just five years

:15:36. > :15:39.after the end of the Second World War.

:15:40. > :15:41.It was the first conflict between the West and the colmunist

:15:42. > :15:48.The north, backed by China and Russia,

:15:49. > :15:51.attacked the South, which w`s defended by the USA and its allies

:15:52. > :15:53.There were 3 million casualties, including

:15:54. > :15:57.Now, members of the Leicester branch of

:15:58. > :15:59.the British Korean Veterans Association have been recalling

:16:00. > :16:02.their experiences in an hour-long film.

:16:03. > :16:05.We just tried to work it so we

:16:06. > :16:07.went to lunch with either the Canadians or the Americans, because

:16:08. > :16:11.their food was a lot better than ours.

:16:12. > :16:17.What the Chinese did was to be themselves in the ground.

:16:18. > :16:22.They didn't have air superiority so they had to

:16:23. > :16:33.Anybody who says they were not frightened is

:16:34. > :16:37.Other veterans who have been interviewed

:16:38. > :16:43.for the film felt it was important to make their contribution.

:16:44. > :16:45.If we can stop people creating wars again,

:16:46. > :16:48.People are never seem to learn the lessons.

:16:49. > :16:50.I'm a better person for

:16:51. > :16:53.having been self disciplined, taken pride in myself and consideration

:16:54. > :17:06.The film has been a three year Labour of love.

:17:07. > :17:08.We were really pleased to gdt it made,

:17:09. > :17:11.because the veterans have often said the Korean War is the forgotten war

:17:12. > :17:14.and they were worried that what they had done,

:17:15. > :17:16.remarkable things really, were going to be forgotten,

:17:17. > :17:18.and we wanted to make sure that that wasn't

:17:19. > :17:19.so and we documented their

:17:20. > :17:22.They were little more than 19 when they were

:17:23. > :17:25.sent to Korea, but six decades on, these veterans are determindd it

:18:16. > :18:19.Small scale protests at the weekend against the owner.

:18:20. > :18:21.The team are shipping goals and in a slump near

:18:22. > :18:29.Mark Shardlow is at Forest for us tonight, good evening, Mark.

:18:30. > :18:36.These are testing times for Nottingham Forest and espechally its

:18:37. > :18:40.supporters. There are one point away from relegation. They've worked won

:18:41. > :18:45.a game in the last ten. Thex are up for sale but while the negotiations

:18:46. > :18:52.are ongoing, Forest are sliding down the table. On Saturday, thehr to nil

:18:53. > :19:07.defeat the goals by former Forest players. Another big problel,

:19:08. > :19:11.defending. This was put in by Chris Gunter, so, another miserable

:19:12. > :19:14.Saturday by the fans. Ordin`rily, after a performance like thhs, the

:19:15. > :19:18.manager's position would be in question. Especially at Fordst,

:19:19. > :19:22.where the average tenure of the manager has been as six months. The

:19:23. > :19:25.feeling is new owners wants to bring in their own manner, so there is

:19:26. > :19:31.something of a status quo there but the talks, the takeover talks, at a

:19:32. > :19:35.key stage and the next few weeks will reveal how things will be going

:19:36. > :19:40.on what sort of season of the field Forest will have. In the me`ntime,

:19:41. > :19:44.there is uncertainty about hs a good thing, because it's a ready,made

:19:45. > :19:47.excuse for the club for bad performances and Forest fans are

:19:48. > :19:51.hoping that when November comes it will bring much more certainty and

:19:52. > :19:54.many will want a new owner `nd a new start to risk and it -- rescue the

:19:55. > :19:56.club. Onto Leicester City

:19:57. > :19:59.and Claudio Ranieri says his team have their "dilly ding,

:20:00. > :20:01.dilly dong back". The squad head to Copenhagen

:20:02. > :20:03.for their next Champions Le`gue game in good spirits after

:20:04. > :20:15.an excellent point at Tottenham This was more like the Leicdster of

:20:16. > :20:22.last season. But they went behind to a harsh penalty. It seemed
