:01:26. > :01:28.The Alzheimer's Society reckons that the number of people living
:01:29. > :01:32.with dementia in the east midlands is around 60,000.
:01:33. > :01:44.Therea, from Arnold in Nottinghamshire, is one of them.
:01:45. > :01:48.Sometimes, I can't remember people's names.
:01:49. > :02:05.I used to be good for all those things.
:02:06. > :02:07.It was two days before last Christmas Theresa
:02:08. > :02:09.was diagnosed with early on-set alzheimer's disease.
:02:10. > :02:15.And I noticed there was something wrong.
:02:16. > :02:18.It wasn't a case of I thought there was something wrong, I knew
:02:19. > :02:23.And not being able to do what she used to be able
:02:24. > :02:28.Teresa said it took months to get diagnosed.
:02:29. > :02:31.I thought I was too young to be in that sort of
:02:32. > :02:47.Health watchers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire says it's
:02:48. > :02:50.concerned too many patients are having to work longer than the Tiger
:02:51. > :02:55.time of six weeks from a GP referral to diagnosis by specialist.
:02:56. > :02:57.The point is when they seek that help
:02:58. > :03:05.Nothing will be the same thereafter and for some, it
:03:06. > :03:09.is devastating, but it is only then that they can make the plans that
:03:10. > :03:12.The NHS says a review of waiting times will get underway
:03:13. > :03:15.next month, but stresses record numbers of patients are being
:03:16. > :03:26.diagnosed with dementia and it is a big priority.
:03:27. > :03:36.Our health correspondent is here. A priority there and it is paying off.
:03:37. > :03:40.It seems to be, because in some ways the NHS is a victim of its own
:03:41. > :03:44.success. Getting more people through free diagnosis, but the bigger
:03:45. > :03:50.workload means more waiting in some cases. Gone is the old view that you
:03:51. > :03:54.don't want to know if you have dementia, because there didn't used
:03:55. > :04:00.to be treatments, but now there are. They are doing a lot of work on new
:04:01. > :04:03.treatments now. Yes, on the late news we will have news of
:04:04. > :04:06.development in the East Midlands were deserted early stage, but is
:04:07. > :04:07.there a promising. And you very much.
:04:08. > :04:11.Later in the programme, we'll be talking to the man who was crowned

:04:17. > :04:28.A court's heard how a young Nottingham man died from a single
:04:29. > :04:31.stab wound to his chest, after his car was surrounded by
:04:32. > :04:39.Four men, originally charged with murder,
:04:40. > :04:42.have instead been jailed today for manslaughter.
:04:43. > :04:45.It's because phone footage, thought to show one defendant as the killer,
:04:46. > :04:50.has now revealed the actual murderer is still on the run.
:04:51. > :04:52.James Roberson is at Nottingham Crown Court.
:04:53. > :05:01.Yes, over the last few weeks, the court here has heard how
:05:02. > :05:03.increasing animosity grew between two groups of young men
:05:04. > :05:09.It culminated with the death of 21-year-old Aqib Mazhar.
:05:10. > :05:12.The court hear how, around 8.30pm on June first this year,
:05:13. > :05:14.his car was surrounded by three other cars on his own
:05:15. > :05:22.His windows were smashed and he received a stab wound
:05:23. > :05:24.to the lung and heart from which he collapsed and died.
:05:25. > :05:27.Four men between 18 and 24 have pleaded guilty to manslaughter,
:05:28. > :05:29.because it's now been revealed the actual murderer
:05:30. > :05:36.Now the judge has asked why the defendants were originally
:05:37. > :05:38.charged with murder, then later with manslaughter.
:05:39. > :05:48.Yes, the four original murder charges were changed.
:05:49. > :05:52.It was revealed in court today that phone footage that originally
:05:53. > :05:55.was thought to show one of the four defendents as the
:05:56. > :05:58.It showed that defendent did not wield the knife,
:05:59. > :06:01.but another man who's now on the run.
:06:02. > :06:05.One of the defending barristers said the police's error had
:06:06. > :06:08.put his client at very serious risk of a serious miscarriage
:06:09. > :06:11.And Judge Stuart Rafferty said, "There must never be another murder
:06:12. > :06:14.case in this country where those analysing CCTV don't
:06:15. > :06:22.When we've reviewed our own evidence, we find that the detail
:06:23. > :06:24.became clearer when we viewed it on Apple's software and Apple
:06:25. > :06:30.So then we were able to exactly see what had gone off.
:06:31. > :06:32.We have already made steps to make sure
:06:33. > :06:35.that officers are aware that when things are transferred to one
:06:36. > :06:36.format from another, everything must be
:06:37. > :06:45.viewed in the original format if at all possible.
:06:46. > :06:53.What has happened to the defendant 's? The judge told the four accused
:06:54. > :06:56.that the merger was wholly needless, but they all knew who the real
:06:57. > :07:04.killer was, but none of them had spoken up. The man of the left is 21
:07:05. > :07:10.and was jailed for seven years, the next aged 24 and the man next to him
:07:11. > :07:16.receive nine years and 20 months and the youngest on the right, the
:07:17. > :07:19.instigator, got ten years and six months. Nottinghamshire Police say
:07:20. > :07:31.the hunt for the real killer continues. In other news, in clans
:07:32. > :07:35.to a woman and her husband who were killed within one hour of each other
:07:36. > :07:45.have opened in Derby. Police have now confirmed the man who was hit by
:07:46. > :07:47.a lorry and his wife at was discovered earlier with serious
:07:48. > :07:52.injuries, she later died in hospital. A 22 old son suffered head
:07:53. > :07:55.injuries and remains in the Queen 's medical Centre.
:07:56. > :07:57.Newcastle University says it'll investigate the death
:07:58. > :07:59.of a 20-year-old Leicestershire student who died after
:08:00. > :08:02.Ed Farmer, from Tilton-on-the-Hill, died in the Royal Victoria
:08:03. > :08:05.Police say he arrived at the hospital in a life-threatening
:08:06. > :08:07.condition after drinking an excessive amount.

:12:36. > :12:37.to develop industrial units in an attempt to boost
:12:38. > :12:40.The council's bought 18 acres of commercial development land
:12:41. > :12:43.The authority will seek permission to develop
:12:44. > :12:45.industrial units and offices, which it will rent
:12:46. > :12:52.Leicester City Council is hoping to cover the city's Magazine Gateway
:12:53. > :12:57.The weeping willow creation was part of the Blood Swept Lands and Seas
:12:58. > :13:00.of Red installation that covered the Tower of London two years ago.
:13:01. > :13:03.Now Leicester has made a bid to host it in 2018.

:13:28. > :13:30.certainly true for parents Mel and Khaled Ibrahim from Nottingham.
:13:31. > :13:32.Their daughter Amaya was born 16 weeks early back
:13:33. > :13:34.in April, but she's finally been allowed home.
:13:35. > :13:37.They say it's the best Christmas present they could have wished for.
:13:38. > :13:42.Eight months after she was born, Amaya Ibrahim has finally been
:13:43. > :13:46.She arrived 16 weeks early in April, much to the surprise
:13:47. > :13:58.She looked like a little bird and she was moving and
:13:59. > :14:01.it just, it scared me, because I was on my
:14:02. > :14:02.own and I didn't know what
:14:03. > :14:08.I wanted to hold her, keep her warm, but I knew that I could to
:14:09. > :14:12.So I just stayed there waiting for help to come.
:14:13. > :14:13.And so Amaya's fight for survival began.
:14:14. > :14:15.She spent most of her life at Nottingham's
:14:16. > :14:17.Children's Hospital at the Queens medical Centre, battling everything
:14:18. > :14:24.from lung disease to sepsis and still relies on oxygen.
:14:25. > :14:31.Babies born that early have many complications with
:14:32. > :14:34.their bowels, with their lungs and they need a lot of support
:14:35. > :14:38.And it's fantastic that now she has reached a time when
:14:39. > :14:41.all of the team looking after her decided she is ready for home.
:14:42. > :14:43.Her mum and dad say she wouldn't be alive
:14:44. > :14:45.today had it not been for the
:14:46. > :14:48.treatment she received at the QMC and that is why they have raised
:14:49. > :14:50.over ?11,000 for the neonatal unit where her journey began.
:14:51. > :14:56.They spent 19 weeks battling to save her.
:14:57. > :14:58.She has had many, many downs and also many ups
:14:59. > :15:00.and there have been times when we thought
:15:01. > :15:03.then something would happen and she couldn't.
:15:04. > :15:07.Now, finally, Amaya is home just in time for Christmas.
:15:08. > :15:09.Her mum and dad say it's the perfect present.
:15:10. > :15:23.And judging by her face, Amaya's pretty pleased too.

:22:04. > :22:04.difficult change a lot of people. I can see why people are interested in
:22:05. > :22:06.it. when millions of TV viewers saw
:22:07. > :22:11.you collect your award. I am just humbled, privileged
:22:12. > :22:14.and honoured to be here today. I would just like to
:22:15. > :22:18.dedicate this award to all those volunteers that
:22:19. > :22:19.haven't been recognised, effort in and make such
:22:20. > :22:22.a massive change to sport. Let's give them a big
:22:23. > :22:28.round of applause. Well, Baz, what a moment for you -
:22:29. > :22:46.how are you feeling tonight? It is so surreal style. It hasn't

:23:57. > :24:01.that so well? I do not know. There are involved to people that can do
:24:02. > :24:06.that, but we might be a bit more successful in the areas that we work
:24:07. > :24:09.with because we can relate to some of the kids going through the same
:24:10. > :24:16.challenges and obstacles that we have been through. I'm talking about
:24:17. > :24:20.ex-offenders, I have lived in areas of deprivation and I have lived
:24:21. > :24:24.through the hurdles and obstacles and now we can get those kids in the
:24:25. > :24:34.right direction. You're doing remarkable work. They are struggling
:24:35. > :24:39.right now to find premises for the work you want to continue next year.
:24:40. > :24:44.Any hope but that would be very welcome. A huge congratulations. He
