:00:27. > :00:37.This site could soon become one of the England's

:00:38. > :00:40.The Government has backed a planned development

:00:41. > :00:42.here on the edge of Derby, near the business

:00:43. > :00:46.It's one of 14 new settlements proposed across the country

:00:47. > :00:52.The Government are putting forward ?6 billion in total,

:01:00. > :01:09.needs to provide 12,500 homes in South Derbyshire by the year 2028.

:01:10. > :01:12.The Government isn't specifying exactly what a garden village,

:01:13. > :01:16.town or city is, but it does say it wants to see evidence of attractive,

:01:17. > :01:23.well-designed places with local support.

:01:24. > :01:26.Another of the villages is set to be created here, near Grantham,

:01:41. > :01:46.I think the town can grow and get a bit larger.

:01:47. > :01:50.We can attract new shops to the town centre, so I think, all in all,

:01:51. > :01:55.I know people need houses, but then you also have to match it

:01:56. > :01:58.In total, the new villages could provide more than 48,000 homes.

:01:59. > :02:01.According to this economist, it's a step towards easing

:02:02. > :02:07.Over the past decade, we've probably fallen short

:02:08. > :02:11.in England by about 50,000 houses a year.

:02:12. > :02:15.These garden villages will only go some way to make up that backlog.

:02:16. > :02:17.While there have been objections to the news

:02:18. > :02:19.in the East Midlands, ministers insist as well

:02:20. > :02:22.as much-needed homes, the new communities will also bring

:02:23. > :02:31.jobs, facilities and a big boost to local economies.

:02:58. > :03:00.It happened at the Nationwide in Borrowash this morning,

:03:01. > :03:03.leaving parts of the cash machine in the street.

:03:04. > :03:05.The area has been cordoned-off for much of the day.

:03:06. > :03:08.The police have so far failed to release any details

:03:09. > :03:14.More than 40 cars have had their tyres slashed and rear

:03:15. > :03:17.windows smashed in a spate of vandalism in Leicester

:03:18. > :03:21.and in villages along the A607.The police have received reports

:03:22. > :03:24.of damage from a number of areas, including Glenfield,

:03:25. > :03:28.Thurmaston, Rearsby, Saxelby and Waltham on the Wolds.

:03:45. > :03:46.she was the target of a plot by the intelligence

:03:47. > :03:52.This is the shop and house in Normanton, Derby,

:03:53. > :03:54.where the Wheeldon family, a century ago, sold

:03:55. > :03:58.But they also helped conscientious objectors,

:03:59. > :04:02.so MI5 sent an agent under the name of Alec Gordon, posing

:04:03. > :04:07.He fabricated a story that the Wheeldons were planning

:04:08. > :04:11.to shoot the then Prime Minister, Lloyd George, with a poison dart.

:04:12. > :04:13.Alice was jailed for ten years, along with her daughter

:04:14. > :04:16.and son-in-law, Winnie and Alf Mason.

:04:17. > :04:19.Now, though, the Mason's granddaughter says there

:04:20. > :04:22.is new evidence about the fake agent, Alec Gordon, who was sent

:04:23. > :04:27.Even in the last two months we have actually found more records,

:04:28. > :04:32.new material, that has been found in the South African records

:04:33. > :04:36.where Alex Gordon was sent, in his own handwriting

:04:37. > :04:37.about what happened, so we've got yet another

:04:52. > :04:57.Sport now and Leicester Tigers have sacked their Director

:04:58. > :05:03.Well, Colin Hazelden is here to tell us more.

:05:04. > :05:16.Was this a surprise? I suppose it was only think you are talking about

:05:17. > :05:21.Mr Leicester Tigers here. 23 of the 25 years of Richard Cockerill's

:05:22. > :05:28.career has been at Leicester Tigers. He has led them to three premiership

:05:29. > :05:35.titles... It is less of a surprise when that sense of dominance started

:05:36. > :05:41.to slip. They stopped making those finals. They just suffered a record

:05:42. > :05:45.defeat at Munster. This weekend there were beaten at Saracens.

:05:46. > :05:54.Leicester Tigers are not used to this. That in VM, is why Richard

:05:55. > :05:59.Cockerill has gone. There is the sense that something is not quite

:06:00. > :06:05.right at Leicester Tigers. What happens at Tigers now? They have

:06:06. > :06:09.released a statement, with some very dignified words from temp two. The

:06:10. > :06:14.players have expressed their support on social media, but the head coach,

:06:15. > :06:20.Aaron Mauger, will charge temporarily. We will hear from him

:06:21. > :06:24.on Wednesday. Then the board say they are looking at a long-term plan

:06:25. > :06:28.for a Leicester Tigers, so we will see what that will be.

:06:29. > :06:30.Before we let you go, there was football today

:06:31. > :06:34.Yes, in the Premier League, it was a second clean sheet

:06:35. > :06:37.in a row for Leicester, but a bad day for our clubs

:06:38. > :06:39.in the Championship - Derby with a man sent off too.

:06:40. > :06:41.In League Two, Mansfield provided our only win

:06:42. > :06:45.of the day, while Notts County had another shocker.

:06:46. > :06:51.Good evening, and a chilly evening, and a cold night tonight.

:06:52. > :06:54.So with clear skies at first, that is going lead us to an early

:06:55. > :06:56.frost during the early hours of the morning.

:06:57. > :06:58.It's dry, it's clear, the winds are still fairly

:06:59. > :07:02.That frost forming early doors, although if you just start to look

:07:03. > :07:05.west you can see clouds starting to push in.

:07:06. > :07:07.Temperatures down to about freezing, if not below.

:07:08. > :07:09.So, a chilly start to your day tomorrow.

:07:10. > :07:10.Now, the main difference between the two days

:07:11. > :07:13.is tomorrow you will see more in the way of cloud.

:07:14. > :07:15.Yes, it will still be quite bright and there

:07:16. > :07:18.will be occasional breaks, but, on the whole, a cloudier day.

:07:19. > :07:20.Possibly thick enough for an odd spot of drizzle,

:07:21. > :07:24.A freshening breeze and a little bit milder -

:07:25. > :07:25.temperatures will be about six degrees.

:07:26. > :07:28.Now, high pressure is still in charge, so for Wednesday,

:07:29. > :07:33.It will be dry and bright, variable cloud and spells of sunshine.

:07:34. > :07:36.As it is going to be another clear night into Thursday,

:07:37. > :07:40.Dry and fine, good spells of sunshine, but cold before rain

:07:41. > :07:55.Make the most of that sunshine! I will be back with the late News at

:07:56. > :08:05.10:20 p.m., I hope you can join us then. Until then, goodbye.

:08:06. > :08:14.Good evening. It has been turning colder and clearer and our weather

:08:15. > :08:18.watchers have been capturing the sunshine. Here is the scene in

:08:19. > :08:23.Derbyshire and where we have had the clear skies by day, we are in for a

:08:24. > :08:27.cold night tonight. Temperatures already plummeting, particularly

:08:28. > :08:30.towards the south with some icy stretches across parts of central

:08:31. > :08:34.and southern England, and into Wales. For the north-west, not as

:08:35. > :08:40.cold, as we have the cloud building. But to the south we could see

:08:41. > :08:42.temperatures down to minus four or five first thing Tuesday morning. If

:08:43. > :08:43.you have
