:00:55. > :01:00.who made explosives and stockpiled chemicals has been jailed
:01:01. > :01:04.for terrorism offences. 46-year-old Roger Smith claimed
:01:05. > :01:08.he wanted to protect the UK from an attack by the so-called

:01:22. > :01:29.for possessing those explosives. And for downloading a document

:01:34. > :01:48.planing an imminent attack, but they were ready to use
:01:49. > :01:51.at short notice. And his offences fell within
:01:52. > :01:53.the legal definition of terrorism. He told Smith, in your warped view,
:01:54. > :01:56.you were preparing the possibility of a siege, and for a local war
:01:57. > :02:02.with Islamic temperatures. That created an obvious and extreme

:03:22. > :03:28.if he had had a fire, it would have blown the block up. Smith was also
:03:29. > :03:39.convicted of possessing a copy of the Advocate Click. The downloading

:03:58. > :03:59.So, Jeremy, what do we know about Roger Smith?
:04:00. > :04:06.Smith told the police he thought all citizens had the right
:04:07. > :04:08.And if there was another Lee Rigby-style attack,
:04:09. > :04:12.then he wanted to do something about it.

:07:03. > :07:07.Court. Drivers faced huge disruption today
:07:08. > :07:11.because of two separate incidents. A car turned on its side
:07:12. > :07:15.and caught fire on a stretch The road was closed for seven hours
:07:16. > :07:19.while the debris was cleared Meanwhile, on the A38
:07:20. > :07:24.near the Little Eaton Island in Derby there was a crash involving
:07:25. > :07:29.a lorry and a tractor. It was revealed in the Commons today
:07:30. > :07:33.that over 200 patients in Nottingham's Hospitals
:07:34. > :07:39.are medically safe to return home but can't because of
:07:40. > :07:42.a lack of social care. Meanwhile, the Labour leader
:07:43. > :07:45.Jeremy Corbyn has suggested one way He's told East Midlands Today
:07:46. > :07:49.that the huge debts run up by the NHS on building
:07:50. > :07:52.and maintaining new hospitals should Here's our political
:07:53. > :08:07.editor Tony Roe. If it is a crisis as labourers say,
:08:08. > :08:14.one in Nottinghamshire MP delivered that message in the comments. Today,
:08:15. > :08:21.Nottingham University hospitals have over 200 patients who are medically
:08:22. > :08:24.safe to be discharged but cannot be. Is it any wonder that
:08:25. > :08:29.Nottinghamshire at University Hospital is on black alert again?
:08:30. > :08:34.Nottinghamshire County Council are calling on the Government to take
:08:35. > :08:37.some action. When will the Government response to the crisis?
:08:38. > :08:44.While it is understood the true that there are pressures on the NHS and
:08:45. > :08:47.social care at this time. The Government has acted through the
:08:48. > :08:54.better confront and social care precept and bringing hovered ?900

:09:00. > :09:03.There is a new unit at the Queens medical Centre to speed up the
:09:04. > :09:08.assessment of Friel and emergency patients. Jeremy Corbyn told me that
:09:09. > :09:14.finding social care properly will help preserve this problem. Yes, it
:09:15. > :09:22.does require more money. This Government has cut money over the
:09:23. > :09:32.past six years and underfunded the NHS. That has been recognised by the
:09:33. > :09:39.Tory committee. The last Labour Government used PSI is to invest in
:09:40. > :09:47.hospitals. This hospital has a ?200 billion bill that it will not pay
:09:48. > :09:50.off until very far away. My colleague, our Shadow Chancellor of
:09:51. > :09:58.the Exchequer, is looking at ways in which the Treasury could buy out the
:09:59. > :10:04.debts but that would mean that the burden is not sorted by the patient.
:10:05. > :10:09.I think that PFI was a big mistake. I think that the best way to invest
:10:10. > :10:14.in hospitals is by direct public investment. I don't think anybody
:10:15. > :10:18.know supports PFI. The Government says that it is not about throwing
:10:19. > :10:21.money at the NHS but about having a strong economy to give the NHS the
:10:22. > :10:24.funding it needs. And this afternoon,
:10:25. > :10:27.Nottinghamshire County Council approved a motion urging
:10:28. > :10:29.the Government to provide adequate The local authority says
:10:30. > :10:35.that across the country, an extra ?2.3 billion
:10:36. > :10:37.is urgently needed. Our political reporter, Peter Saull,
:10:38. > :10:40.has been learning about one initiative which is designed
:10:41. > :10:49.to reduce the strain on the system. Just like any 18-year-old,
:10:50. > :10:55.Miles from Gedling wants to be He's always struggled
:10:56. > :11:00.with public transport, so here to help is a council
:11:01. > :11:05.support worker, Adrian. Right, Miles, do you remember what
:11:06. > :11:09.we do when we get to the bus stop? But before that we need
:11:10. > :11:16.to cross the road, don't we? Gradually, Miles has
:11:17. > :11:17.gained the confidence When I first met him,
:11:18. > :11:22.although he was quite confident, he was unsure about crossing roads,
:11:23. > :11:25.finding what number bus to catch, things like that, but we broke it
:11:26. > :11:31.down and he's come on wonders. Nottinghamshire County Council
:11:32. > :11:34.is spending an extra ?750,000 over the next 18 months to pay for more
:11:35. > :11:39.people like Adrian. The idea is that people like Miles

:12:01. > :12:03.or swimming and to the cinema in town, and we are working
:12:04. > :12:05.on it all the time. So what do you like
:12:06. > :12:09.about the cinema, Miles? I liked watching
:12:10. > :12:11.the movie Passenger. While there is a positive outcome
:12:12. > :12:19.here, this initiative isn't a silver Today, the county council passed
:12:20. > :12:25.a motion calling on the Government to make extra funds available

:12:58. > :13:02.for the county, Hardyal Dhindsa, says he plans a small

:13:06. > :13:11.portion of people's council tax, and the rise is expected
:13:12. > :13:14.to be set at around 2%. The Commissioner says
:13:15. > :13:16.the demands on his service are going up every year
:13:17. > :13:18.and this money would The first designs have been unveiled
:13:19. > :13:24.for a multi-million project to transform the site of Leicester's

:13:31. > :13:34.Jewry Wall museum comes after news yesterday that the nearby
:13:35. > :13:37.Abbey Pumping Station museum could also undergo
:13:38. > :13:41.a major refurbishment. In the middle of modern-day

:13:59. > :14:03.by updating and extending it - at a cost of up to ?7 million
:14:04. > :14:06.pounds. We have an opportunity
:14:07. > :14:12.to reinterpret this for Leicester people but also to bring it
:14:13. > :14:15.still more people Leicester. By doing that, we can do more
:14:16. > :14:17.for the Leicester economy. Today the first designs

:14:35. > :14:43.into a world-class visitor centre. And it's not the only museum
:14:44. > :14:47.which could be revamped. Around half a million pounds may be
:14:48. > :14:50.spent on improvements inside and out It showcases the city's industrial
:14:51. > :14:55.past but hasn't received any Both proposals have been welcomed
:14:56. > :15:04.by Leicester Civic Society. It's all part of the heritage
:15:05. > :15:06.of Leicester and its history, If we don't know where we come from,
:15:07. > :15:11.we don't know where we're going to. In tough economic times, spending
:15:12. > :15:15.on heritage may raise eyebrows, but those behind the plans insist
:15:16. > :15:20.that investing in Leicester's past will secure the
:15:21. > :15:32.city a bright future. Now, a wrestler from Leicester has

:15:36. > :15:39.in the ring and he's competing The competition has been set up
:15:40. > :15:43.for the first time this year because of a growing popularity

:15:46. > :16:02.to meet Jack as he prepares It's a sport famous for its grudge
:16:03. > :16:09.matches, dramatic writing and hard-fought victories. Now a
:16:10. > :16:15.wrestler from Leicester has been chosen to take part in the first
:16:16. > :16:22.ever WWE UK championship tournament. This is a dream come true. To be
:16:23. > :16:25.selected in the first ever WWE championship tournament to represent
:16:26. > :16:32.not only Leicester but the entire company. -- the entire country. It
:16:33. > :16:36.involves a lot of training. Jack spends up to three hours per day in
:16:37. > :16:42.the gym. She has weekly sessions in the ring on top of that. For him, it
:16:43. > :16:47.is more than just a fight. I was mesmerised from when I first started
:16:48. > :16:51.watching it. I always got dragged out of the house before it. I've
:16:52. > :16:59.remember just thinking if they can do it why can't I do it? He is the
:17:00. > :17:04.strongest life that I know. He is stronger than guys five times his
:17:05. > :17:13.side. To have somebody as dedicated as that is easy to teach. For Jack,
:17:14. > :17:22.just a few more days of practice before she takes on the ring. Did
:17:23. > :17:33.you see those biceps? We've been reminiscing about wrestling being on
:17:34. > :17:35.the TV. My grandad was a big fan. Big Daddy was a favourite.
:17:36. > :17:38.Yes, Notts County's new manager is Kevin Nolan.
:17:39. > :17:41.The former West Ham, Bolton and Newcastle captain,
:17:42. > :17:44.who scored 99 Premier League goals, now has his first big break
:17:45. > :18:02.Hardy is the new owner at Notts and is a self-confessed Magpies fan.
:18:03. > :18:14.It is dark and side but a bright new beaver is starting here. A new owner
:18:15. > :18:18.and a new manager. I just food to congratulate first. How are you
:18:19. > :18:27.feeling? It's amazing. It's a dream come true. The last few weeks have
:18:28. > :18:32.been an emotional roller-coaster. Happy, sad, frustrated. It's all
:18:33. > :18:38.come together now. It's the start of the journey. And so excited. And why
:18:39. > :18:46.is Kevin Nolan is your new manager? I saw for five days and they all had
:18:47. > :18:50.their own strengths but Kevin Nolan is head and shoulders in terms of
:18:51. > :19:02.leadership. What this club needs is not just leadership on the pitch but
:19:03. > :19:10.also of the pitch. Absolutely. What about taking over a club at the top
:19:11. > :19:13.of -- at the bottom of League 2 in financial difficulty? I believe I
:19:14. > :19:20.have even plastic opportunity to build something with somebody that
:19:21. > :19:24.is starting a new journey at a new football club with me. I cant wait
:19:25. > :19:30.to get my knuckles in and get into it. We will give it everything we've
:19:31. > :19:35.got and it will give it enough this season. We will continue to build
:19:36. > :19:42.from there. Your first match is a big Nottinghamshire Derby. I've been
:19:43. > :19:48.finding out bit by bit as I'm walking around the ground. Come
:19:49. > :19:54.Saturday, we know it will be a difficult game. They do the basic
:19:55. > :20:01.things really well so I am looking forward to it and I will take it all
:20:02. > :20:04.in. I hope that we. To see some signs on Saturday but you certainly
:20:05. > :20:10.will see some signs began after and we will build from there. Looking
:20:11. > :20:11.forward to it. Looking forward to being back in football and in
:20:12. > :20:13.management. Good luck. Well, from a new manager starting
:20:14. > :20:16.out to the best manager We are of course talking
:20:17. > :20:19.about Leicester's Claudio Ranieri. He was named Fifa's world coach
:20:20. > :20:24.of the year this week. He claimed today he'd rather have
:20:25. > :20:27.more points on the board than any award but said the club certainly
:20:28. > :20:31.deserved the recognition. We made something and all
:20:32. > :20:36.the world spoke about it. And that is normal now
:20:37. > :20:54.to receive something special, Some Forest and Derby news now
:20:55. > :21:00.as the rams boss Steve McClaren says they are still interested in signing
:21:01. > :21:02.reds midfielder Henri Lansbury. Some reports had suggested
:21:03. > :21:06.a deal was all but done No, I find that strange,
:21:07. > :21:16.we've heard nothing of that. We made an enquiry
:21:17. > :21:23.a couple of weeks ago. I think there is turmoil
:21:24. > :21:28.going on at Forest at the You probably know more
:21:29. > :21:33.than I do on that. I think everything is up in the air
:21:34. > :21:37.in terms of Forest and Lansbury. Tomorrow we'll have a special
:21:38. > :21:39.feature on Derby's new And finally from me -
:21:40. > :21:45.the sad news the former England He was born in Worksop
:21:46. > :21:49.in Nottinghamshire. He was a defender for Grimsby
:21:50. > :21:53.and Lincoln and managed Watford, He died today, of a suspected
:21:54. > :22:03.heart attack, aged 72. We interviewed him a number of times
:22:04. > :22:17.and he was always a true gentleman. Everyone has said that. Very sad. It
:22:18. > :22:20.is January the 12th and as they get into the swing of the year, we
:22:21. > :22:22.started to think of spring cleaning. But imagine if it
:22:23. > :22:24.stretched over two months. Well, that's the task facing a small
:22:25. > :22:27.team of volunteers who have just started the annual deep clean
:22:28. > :22:30.of the chapel at Clumber Park Mind you, it's more
:22:31. > :22:33.like a Cathedral in minature. Quentin Rayner has
:22:34. > :22:35.been to take a look. The 180-foot spire of the Chapel
:22:36. > :22:39.of St Mary the Virgin, one of the most prominent features
:22:40. > :22:42.in the 3800 acres of Clumber Park. Completed in 1889 for the seventh
:22:43. > :22:46.Duke of Newcastle, it was built as a family place of worship,
:22:47. > :22:51.but on a grand scale. So why is it known as
:22:52. > :22:54.the cathedral in miniature? It got that name because
:22:55. > :23:00.of the size and scale It's got all the elements
