:05:45. > :05:51.Kassim today admitted breaking the law by refusing

:05:52. > :06:08.July last year and Charles Block is trying to take it taxi he ordered

:06:09. > :06:10.for himself, his guide dog and his girlfriend who started filming the

:06:11. > :06:13.exchange when it became clear the driver might refuse them. I am not

:06:14. > :06:34.taking the dog. Why? It is illegal for taxi drivers to

:06:35. > :06:39.refuse assistance dogs unless they have an approved medical exemption.

:06:40. > :06:44.Today, Abandi Kassim was fined ?600 including costs after he admitted

:06:45. > :06:49.breaking the equality law. What have you got to say? I apologise to him.

:06:50. > :06:54.I didn't have a chance to apologise to him. You said it is because of

:06:55. > :06:59.your religion. I was confused because I was scared

:07:00. > :07:04.of the dog. I did not know the difference between a normal dog and

:07:05. > :07:08.guide dog. The majesties save today it is your duty to comply with the

:07:09. > :07:15.law and to be aware of this, you have to take assistance dogs. Now I

:07:16. > :07:23.learn. It is the mistake. I made the mistake but for me it was out of

:07:24. > :07:28.lack training. This afternoon, Charles bloggers

:07:29. > :07:33.take that gave his reaction. I always look up the ability not the

:07:34. > :07:41.disability, that is how I have been brought up. I tried not make it

:07:42. > :07:47.affect life. Instances like this make me feel I am the majority --

:07:48. > :07:51.minority, the person who is not given as much respect and courtesy

:07:52. > :08:01.as somebody else. Fawaz Al Abandi Kassim says he has learned

:08:02. > :08:03.about guidebooks and will take them in his taxi in future.

:08:04. > :08:04.Parents and teaching assistants protested

:08:05. > :08:06.inside Derby City Council's offices this afternoon against

:08:07. > :08:09.the authority's ongoing dispute with school support staff.

:08:10. > :08:12.An equal pay review last year saw many teaching

:08:13. > :08:17.assistants' salaries cut and they've gone on strike repeatedly.

:08:18. > :08:19.The city council has made offers to end the dispute

:08:20. > :08:21.but they've been rejected by union members.

:08:22. > :08:39.Bells and whistles. As the disputes between Derby City Council and

:08:40. > :08:44.school support staff took the noisier turn today as parents join

:08:45. > :08:47.the debate. We support the teaching assistants in what they are doing

:08:48. > :08:51.but it is important to focus on the children who are losing out on their

:08:52. > :08:54.education. They were not going to stay outside the council house for

:08:55. > :08:59.their protest, which was also supported by teaching assistants.

:09:00. > :09:04.The parents are backing the teaching assistants, many of whom have seen

:09:05. > :09:08.their pay cut by 25% due to changes to the terms and conditions of their

:09:09. > :09:13.contracts brought about by the equal pay review last year. But their main

:09:14. > :09:18.concern is that children's education which they say is suffering because

:09:19. > :09:23.of the strikes. We don't know if we are coming or going. We have had so

:09:24. > :09:29.many days off, I can't count. His behaviour has got worse. It is clear

:09:30. > :09:37.who the protesters wanted to speak to, the leader of the council. They

:09:38. > :09:40.may not have got the chance to speak to him both ten parents were invited

:09:41. > :09:45.for the meeting with the Cabinet member for jobs and employment,

:09:46. > :09:51.Councillor Lisa Eldridge. How did it go? I feel we're going round in

:09:52. > :09:55.circles. They have agreed to meet again in two months' time. Can you

:09:56. > :09:58.see an end to this? Hopefully, but no.

:09:59. > :10:01.Well, earlier in the day our reporter Navtej Johal interviewed

:10:02. > :10:04.Councillor Lisa Eldret and began by asking her whether she had any

:10:05. > :10:09.regrets about how the council has handled this dispute.

:10:10. > :10:13.Nobody wants to be in this situation and we are very unhappy about the

:10:14. > :10:17.disruption that has been caused to schools and to children's

:10:18. > :10:22.We really want Unison to end the strikes so they can come back

:10:23. > :10:24.to the table and talk about the resolution.

:10:25. > :10:27.What is the reason behind the dispute?

:10:28. > :10:30.Why can't you meet the demands that have been put

:10:31. > :10:35.The reality is these workers were being paid a full-time wage

:10:36. > :10:43.If we carry on with that situation it could have wider

:10:44. > :10:46.implications for the authority in terms of other groups of workers

:10:47. > :10:51.The risk of that and the potential cost to the

:10:52. > :10:53.authority could be huge and essentially could bankrupt the

:10:54. > :10:57.So we have to look at the bigger picture when we are looking

:10:58. > :11:01.We can't look at the teaching assistants in isolation.

:11:02. > :11:07.I don't want to under estimate the impact on that

:11:08. > :11:10.very small number of workers within schools, on that 40 who have

:11:11. > :11:15.We do recognise that impact but that is why we have been

:11:16. > :11:18.working with schools to try and find a solution and that is why we have

:11:19. > :11:23.put a significant offer on the table to Unison, ?1.1 million, to mitigate

:11:24. > :11:29.What will it take to bring an end to this dispute?

:11:30. > :11:31.The only way we can end this dispute is by Unison

:11:32. > :11:36.Continuing industrial action is not going to resolve this dispute.

:11:37. > :11:51.A 90-year-old man has gone on trial accused of historical

:11:52. > :11:53.sex crimes at an approved school, while he was a

:11:54. > :11:56.Nottingham Crown Court heard that Dennis Young repeatedly abused

:11:57. > :12:00.a young boy who was in his care at Skegby Hall near Mansfield.

:12:01. > :12:01.Our Social Affairs Correspondent, Jeremy Ball, reports.

:12:02. > :12:04.Dennis Young watched intently from the dock as a police video

:12:05. > :12:06.interview with his accuser was played to the jury.

:12:07. > :12:09.In it he gave a graphic and detailed account

:12:10. > :12:14.of abuse that began, he said, when he was only ten years old.

:12:15. > :12:17.He said he was interfered with repeatedly for around three years,

:12:18. > :12:21.sometimes in the bath, sometimes in his own bed.

:12:22. > :12:25.The jury has been told Dennis Young has denied seven charges of indecent

:12:26. > :12:28.assault, crimes he is accused of committing whilst he was a teacher

:12:29. > :12:32.He was eventually arrested as part of

:12:33. > :12:35.Operation Xeres, the police inquiry into historical abuse in

:12:36. > :12:40.We heard his accuser was sent to Skegby Hall for committing

:12:41. > :12:45.He said he used to lie in bed at night in fear of Dennis Young,

:12:46. > :12:48.he was bribed to keep quiet with sweets, he said,

:12:49. > :12:51.and threatened that if he said anything he would be

:12:52. > :12:55.We also heard he complained to the approved school's head

:12:56. > :12:58.but he was told "not to be a silly boy".

:12:59. > :13:02.That police interview also showed a detective

:13:03. > :13:07.asking him why he came forward after more than 50 years.

:13:08. > :13:10.He said, "to get it off my chest, I am ashamed.

:13:11. > :13:13."I feel guilty as though it is my fault".

:13:14. > :13:17.He also said, "the slightest thing can set me off.

:13:18. > :13:22.We heard that Dennis Young told the police the man's allegations

:13:23. > :13:25.were impossible and his trial here is due to last

:13:26. > :13:32.A mother has been speaking for the first time about the loss

:13:33. > :13:35.of her son, who was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend

:13:36. > :13:39.A murder trial heard that after Emma Jayne-Magson

:13:40. > :13:42.stabbed James Knight, she delayed making a call

:13:43. > :13:49.Mr Knight's mother says she can't understand how someone

:13:50. > :13:55.But she's told us she's determined that some good will come

:13:56. > :14:02.In the early hours of Easter Sunday last March, neighbours on Sylvan

:14:03. > :14:06.Street in Leicester were awoken by a drunken row between a couple.

:14:07. > :14:08.It ended with 26-year-old James Knight being stabbed in the

:14:09. > :14:12.His girlfriend, Emma-Jayne Magson, claimed he

:14:13. > :14:15.had been fighting with bouncers but she had murdered him

:14:16. > :14:19.with a steak knife, and then over half an hour later calmly phoned

:14:20. > :14:24.My boyfriend James is making weird noises.

:14:25. > :14:34.James, I've got the ambulance on the phone.

:14:35. > :14:37.Please, just turn around so I know what is up with you.

:14:38. > :14:40.That call still haunts James's mother.

:14:41. > :14:43.They said in court that you can hear James's last breath

:14:44. > :14:50.That is half an hour after it had happened.

:14:51. > :14:56.She is just so calm, she doesn't mention he has been stabbed.

:14:57. > :15:00.The paramedics says to her there will be a delay and she just said,

:15:01. > :15:08.It might take a while so I do apologise.

:15:09. > :15:12.Don't worry, that is fine, dont' worry about it.

:15:13. > :15:16.The fact that I can't comprehend how somebody can

:15:17. > :15:22.not call for help when something's happened, not call for help.

:15:23. > :15:30.I can't get that into my head that you can actually, to me,

:15:31. > :15:34.Trish is determined that James, who had two young daughters from

:15:35. > :15:36.a previous relationship, is not forgotten.

:15:37. > :15:38.She is backing the Leicester anti-knife project and

:15:39. > :15:41.along with family and friends is helping put on a football

:15:42. > :15:45.tournament next month to raise money for a cause dear to them.

:15:46. > :15:52.We want to do something good in his name.

:15:53. > :15:55.We have gone for the neonatal unit this year.

:15:56. > :15:58.James himself was born prematurely and was cared for by the unit.

:15:59. > :16:01.His mother says her son's death is like a dream she

:16:02. > :16:05.just wants to wake up from but one that will never end.

:16:06. > :16:10.He was a rogue, he was lovable, he was James.

:16:11. > :16:25.The Prince now standing on platform two.

:16:26. > :16:27.We continue our coverage of the visit by Prince Charles

:16:28. > :16:30.to Leicestershire which built up a bit of a head of steam

:16:31. > :16:48.It is sport now. We have got bit of an exclusive coming up again. We

:16:49. > :16:50.like to bring you those. We start tonight with an exclusive

:16:51. > :16:53.interview with the Nottingham Forest It's his first since the collapse

:16:54. > :16:56.of the planned takeover by an American consortium

:16:57. > :16:59.two weeks ago. That breakdown sparked a large

:17:00. > :17:03.protest amongst fans at the weekend. But tonight Al Hasawi has told our

:17:04. > :17:06.sports editor Natalie Jackson that the deal is dead

:17:07. > :17:12.and he doesn't want to sell. He's been speaking at his home

:17:13. > :17:26.in Mayfair in London. First of all, we heard the Americans

:17:27. > :17:31.would still like to do a deal with you. Is the deal dead with the

:17:32. > :17:38.Americans? Yes, it is. The deal is finished. Why?

:17:39. > :17:42.I cannot say why because that is the confidentiality between us. I cannot

:17:43. > :17:48.say anything about the deal. But the deal is over between us. You have

:17:49. > :17:53.tried to sell the club twice in the last year. Do you still want to sell

:17:54. > :17:57.its? At the moment, I am not going to sell the club. I would like to

:17:58. > :18:00.focus on the club and I would like to build a structure for this club

:18:01. > :18:09.and I would like to put the right people in the club. People will

:18:10. > :18:17.think that I am lying or just saying things, it is not going to happen.

:18:18. > :18:23.We have heard this before. I agree. I will let action talk better than

:18:24. > :18:27.words. By trying to sell the club, you have left the club as a shell.

:18:28. > :18:32.Hardly any people are working there at the moment, there is no chief

:18:33. > :18:37.executive, no chief scout. There is an interim manager at the moment. It

:18:38. > :18:42.is MS. Why have you left the club get like this? I have told you, are

:18:43. > :18:47.you wriggle out was committed to eight by and I cannot do anything.

:18:48. > :18:52.Every time I was talking to the buyer, I was telling them the club

:18:53. > :18:56.needs a structure. You have been at the club four and half years, you

:18:57. > :19:01.have sacked seven managers. There is too dramatic sales which have fallen

:19:02. > :19:07.through. There's talk about the manager. Will

:19:08. > :19:15.you sort out the situation at the club? Of course I will. Where are

:19:16. > :19:19.the managers now? Putting that aside, you are now near the

:19:20. > :19:22.relegation zone. You are now in trouble, you have no structure in

:19:23. > :19:27.the club. You have fans protesting in the car park. How are you going

:19:28. > :19:34.to win their trust? I don't blame them. As I told you,

:19:35. > :19:40.that is no structure. One year, my hand is tight. Now I can tell them

:19:41. > :19:45.and they promised them that I will do the right thing for Nottingham

:19:46. > :19:48.Forest. I don't want them to say, you are always talking like this and

:19:49. > :19:55.nothing happened. It will happen and you will see action soon.

:19:56. > :19:56.That happened this afternoon. I am watching that for the first time

:19:57. > :19:57.this afternoon. Well, Forest do play that

:19:58. > :20:00.match with Leeds tonight and Matchnight will start at 7.00pm

:20:01. > :20:02.on BBC Radio Nottingham featuring a longer version of that

:20:03. > :20:05.interview with Fawaz Al Hasawi. And if you miss it there, or just

:20:06. > :20:08.want to see and hear it again, it'll soon be there in full

:20:09. > :20:11.on the BBC Nottingham Derby County's David Nugent

:20:26. > :20:29.the Premier League team have But they still are, in cup

:20:30. > :20:35.competitions as we saw in the Champions League,

:20:36. > :20:39.a formidable opponent on that day. We have to make sure on Friday

:20:40. > :20:43.it is not their day or night. Derby County have signed young

:20:44. > :20:46.winger Kyle McAlistair from St Mirren, whilst Jamie Hanson

:20:47. > :20:49.leaves the club to go Meanwhile Leicester's Matty James

:20:50. > :20:55.has joined Barnsley on loan. And speaking of Leicester

:20:56. > :20:57.and that game against Derby today I had the pleasure of

:20:58. > :21:00.meeting the Foxes' A great lad and really looking

:21:01. > :21:04.forward to Friday's match. In rugby, the Leicester Tigers have

:21:05. > :21:12.made a loan signing to help The French back Maxime Mermoz

:21:13. > :21:16.joins from Toulon until While in ice hockey, Nottingham

:21:22. > :21:25.evening with a semi-final first leg against arch rivals

:21:26. > :21:26.Sheffield Steelers. And back to football finally

:21:27. > :21:36.because Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has picked

:21:37. > :21:38.up another award today. He's been given an honorary

:21:39. > :21:42.doctorate by De Montfort University, after leading the Foxes

:21:43. > :21:55.to an unlikely Premier League I think you will agree he is facing

:21:56. > :21:57.another test this season. Certainly is. What great sport

:24:31. > :24:36.weather watcher in Nottinghamshire but there was the mist and fog

:24:37. > :24:39.around to as well. We have got high pressure out of the east and low

:24:40. > :24:43.pressure to the west and then as the battle going on between those. It

:24:54. > :24:57.mostly dry although we could see spots of drizzle and the odd flurry

:24:58. > :25:03.of snow. Falling to minus two Celsius. We will see widespread

:25:36. > :25:43.slight shift with those winds that it will make the difference. It
