:00:09. > :00:13.You are watching East Midlands Today.

:00:14. > :00:15.Tonight, a major boost for manufacturing in this

:00:16. > :00:21.region as Toyota unveils a ?240 million investment plan.

:00:22. > :00:31.This investment is being seen as a huge list. Also tonight, Doctor who

:00:32. > :00:36.give a patient too much of a strong painkiller speaks at her inquest.

:00:37. > :00:42.Plus going with the full. Junction 19 of the M1 is officially opened

:00:43. > :00:47.after a major upgrade. And journey times are set to be cut by half an

:00:48. > :00:53.hour. And time for bed in one of the grandest beds in the country. It has

:00:54. > :01:00.certainly not been inexpensive. I think it is looking like the most

:01:01. > :01:09.spectacular piece of furniture in the house.

:01:10. > :01:13.First tonight, Toyota has announced a massive investment

:01:14. > :01:16.Thousands of people work there and the quarter

:01:17. > :01:18.of a billion pound injection will modernise its

:01:19. > :01:21.The company said no guarantees could be given about the long-term

:01:22. > :01:23.future of car marking in Derbyshire, but Toyota's president

:01:24. > :01:36.said it was a vote of confidence in the workforce.

:01:37. > :01:39.More than 4 million vehicles have rolled off the production line

:01:40. > :01:43.at Toyota in Derbyshire since production began in 1992,

:01:44. > :01:47.but the future of the plant has been far from secure since Brexit.

:01:48. > :01:50.Today, though, Toyota threw its support behind Burnaston

:01:51. > :01:55.by announcing a ?240 million upgrade of manufacturing facilities.

:01:56. > :02:00.Does it guarantee the future of car production here for Burnaston?

:02:01. > :02:06.We always have to be competitive and that means

:02:07. > :02:07.building cars with quality, high productivity, low-cost,

:02:08. > :02:20.but what this investment does do is it significantly supports that.

:02:21. > :02:23.But finally that is down to our members' skill and energy.

:02:24. > :02:25.This is a huge demonstration of the faith and confidence

:02:26. > :02:28.in the workforce here and that we can achieve the

:02:29. > :02:31.Toyota's investment is being backed up with ?21 million of government

:02:32. > :02:39.On a tour of the plan today, Business Secretary Greg Clark called

:02:40. > :02:43.Toyota's investment a boost to the UK car industry.

:02:44. > :02:45.How significant is this investment for securing jobs and future car

:02:46. > :02:55.A quarter of a billion is a lot of money by anyone's standards.

:02:56. > :02:58.And for Toyota globally to commit that to Derbyshire,

:02:59. > :03:02.Since Brexit, there has been widespread caution in the UK car

:03:03. > :03:03.manufacturing industry, with fears over possible

:03:04. > :03:10.This investment is being seen as a huge vote of confidence

:03:11. > :03:24.And it will also reassure some of the 2600 staff who work here.

:03:25. > :03:26.Our political editor Tony Roe is here now.

:03:27. > :03:28.Is this a sign that big global investors are committed

:03:29. > :03:30.to East Midlands industry, whether we are in

:03:31. > :03:45.Well, you would hope so, but the phrase in the report which leaked so

:03:46. > :03:49.it is no guarantees. I don't think you can guarantee anything. Toyota

:03:50. > :03:54.have always said they want to be as efficient as possible, whatever

:03:55. > :03:59.happens with Brexit. The fear is hard Brexit because that will be 10%

:04:00. > :04:07.on tariffs for most cars coming into our country. They don't want ?1500

:04:08. > :04:12.added to the price of each car. Nissan in October were given

:04:13. > :04:16.assurances from the government. We didn't find out what the support

:04:17. > :04:25.was, but we know with Toyota and the have been given 21 billion pounds --

:04:26. > :04:35.?21 million. No guarantee for the long term would suggest that the

:04:36. > :04:39.jury in Toyota in Japan is still out on Brexit. That is what you might

:04:40. > :04:54.think. Toyota are not going to want to invest a lot of money here. But a

:04:55. > :05:01.quarter of ?1 billion would indicate they see a big future here. Can you

:05:02. > :05:07.update is about election irregularities? It dates back to the

:05:08. > :05:18.by-election in 2014. The money spent on the local campaign. We know that

:05:19. > :05:25.they have an allowance of around ?15,000 they are allowed to spend

:05:26. > :05:29.locally. Year, there seems to have been lines blurred between national

:05:30. > :05:36.expenses and local expenses. Money was spent to put up people in hotels

:05:37. > :05:40.who were campaigning. The rule they have to obey by me come up, and it

:05:41. > :05:48.is a rule all candidates have to stick to, if they come from outside

:05:49. > :05:57.the region, don't mention the local candidate. There has been some

:05:58. > :06:03.muddying of the water. We know that 70,000 pounds has been fined. One

:06:04. > :06:07.Conservative MP has told me it was a clock up. Other parties have fallen

:06:08. > :06:15.foul of the same electoral commission. Labour were fined over

:06:16. > :06:22.the 2015 spending on the headstone for Ed Miliband is's policy. They

:06:23. > :06:30.forgot to declare it. Thank you. A GP who mistakenly prescribed 10

:06:31. > :06:33.times the dosage of a strong painkiller to a woman who died,

:06:34. > :06:37.has apologised to her family. 27-year-old Kymberley Holden

:06:38. > :06:39.from Derbyshire died hours Dr Lawrence Axten told an inquest

:06:40. > :06:54.that he was in shock Kymberley Holden suffered three

:06:55. > :07:01.bouts of severe pain in her right leg. She had lost use of the leg

:07:02. > :07:09.months earlier. She used a wheelchair after having been

:07:10. > :07:13.diagnosed with MS. She took liquid painkillers. In the middle of the

:07:14. > :07:19.night, she was found unconscious on the floor by her boyfriend. She

:07:20. > :07:29.later died in hospital. At the inquest, the GP explained how he

:07:30. > :07:34.made the error of prescribing ten times the amount of the medicine. He

:07:35. > :07:38.said while using the computer prescription system, he thought he

:07:39. > :07:44.was prescribing the correct dosage. He learned of his error in April

:07:45. > :07:51.2015. At that point, he said, I was in quite a lot of shock. I couldn't

:07:52. > :07:58.believe I had done it, to be honest. The postmortem report found one of

:07:59. > :08:05.the causes of death was poisoning. At the start of the inquest, the

:08:06. > :08:12.toxicologist said the level of that drug after her death was incredibly

:08:13. > :08:17.high. Dr Lawrence Axten's said to her family, I am very sorry, I truly

:08:18. > :08:22.am. The inquest is expected to conclude tomorrow.

:08:23. > :08:25.Police have arrested a man on suspicion of committing a series

:08:26. > :08:29.Earlier this week, detectives began a major appeal to find a serial

:08:30. > :08:31.attacker who seriously assaulted four women over two

:08:32. > :08:34.They received 180 pieces of information from the public.

:08:35. > :08:37.A 23-year-old man from Chaddesden has been arrested and is being

:08:38. > :08:52.Nottingham City Council has found a potential buyer

:08:53. > :08:54.for the Imperial Tobacco Horizon Factory in Nottingham.

:08:55. > :08:57.A report by the authority says a company has been identified that

:08:58. > :08:59.will bring jobs back to the historic site.

:09:00. > :09:01.The buyer is expected to re-develop the site subject

:09:02. > :09:09.The 50-year-old building has been up for sale since March last year.

:09:10. > :09:11.One of Nottingham's busiest streets will fully re-open later after four

:09:12. > :09:16.National Grid says it has managed to fix a number of leaks

:09:17. > :09:19.The holes in the road have been filled in,

:09:20. > :09:21.but the tarmac has needed time to set.

:09:22. > :09:23.It means the westbound stretch won't be open

:09:24. > :09:32.Still to come: warm one day, bitter the next.

:09:33. > :09:45.High pressure has been in charge for the last few days. That has given us

:09:46. > :09:50.some sunshine. With low pressure on the way, we expect wet weather at

:09:51. > :09:55.the weekend. I will have a full forecast later in the programme.

:09:56. > :09:59.If you are a regular user of the M1, you will be pleased to hear your

:10:00. > :10:01.journey time through one of the motorway's busiest stretches

:10:02. > :10:03.could now be reduced by around half an hour.

:10:04. > :10:06.That is because a major upgrade has been completed at junction 19

:10:07. > :10:17.Our reporter is there for us this evening.

:10:18. > :10:22.When you have got a junction where the M1, M6 and A14 all meet,

:10:23. > :10:25.you are going to have a lot of traffic.

:10:26. > :10:29.150,000 vehicles pass through here every day and it had

:10:30. > :10:32.become a real bottleneck with collisions

:10:33. > :10:37.But after three years of construction, the cones are up,

:10:38. > :10:49.It is the southern gateway to the East Midlands.

:10:50. > :10:51.The point where the M1, M6 and A14 meet.

:10:52. > :10:55.Today, it was officially opened by senior members

:10:56. > :10:57.of Highways England with the local MP watching on.

:10:58. > :10:59.When construction began at junction 19 three years

:11:00. > :11:02.ago, it attracted the interest of David Cameron and George Osborne.

:11:03. > :11:05.We were shown how ?191 million would be spent to improve the daily

:11:06. > :11:13.Now drivers no longer has to negotiate roundabouts between the M6

:11:14. > :11:16.A14, there are flyovers connecting the A14 to the M1.

:11:17. > :11:29.And there is now a new local link road

:11:30. > :11:35.reconnecting the villages of Cathorpe and Swinford.

:11:36. > :11:37.So how much M1 misery has it been alleviating?

:11:38. > :11:40.M1 junction 19 has seen significant improvements to journey times.

:11:41. > :11:42.We're getting reports journey time improvement of up to 30 minutes.

:11:43. > :11:45.All the traffic management has been lifted for the scheme.

:11:46. > :11:47.We have got all the new scheme is fully opened

:11:48. > :11:51.We expect to see big improvements to people's gurneys on

:11:52. > :11:53.We expect to see big improvements to people's journerys on

:11:54. > :11:56.The statistics are impressive to build it.

:11:57. > :12:00.14,000 cubic metres of concrete poured.

:12:01. > :12:02.They even had to build eight temporary roads during the

:12:03. > :12:06.It puts us right on the centre of the economic map.

:12:07. > :12:08.Look, this is where the M1 and the M6

:12:09. > :12:11.These are two of Britain's principal motorways.

:12:12. > :12:12.This will help get Britain moving faster.

:12:13. > :12:20.It means the East Midlands will be premiered beneficiary of this new

:12:21. > :12:24.refurbished infrastructure project. Junction 19's official opening comes

:12:25. > :12:33.in the same month as a multi-million pound project was announced to

:12:34. > :12:41.improve junction 23 on the M1. The Junction has been in use since

:12:42. > :12:47.the end of the year. Highways England say they have received many

:12:48. > :12:52.appreciative messages. One motorists said it has been improved beyond

:12:53. > :12:57.belief. Someone else told them, I drove 70 miles an hour, so

:12:58. > :13:04.freefalling. If you thought you had seen the back of all restrictions in

:13:05. > :13:08.this area, you will be disappointed. Smart motorway construction

:13:09. > :13:11.continues between junctions 16 and 19. That is until the end of the

:13:12. > :13:14.year. Thank you.

:13:15. > :13:16.Two former BBC Radio Leicester presenters have pleaded not guilty

:13:17. > :13:19.in connection with sex offences against boys under the age of 18.

:13:20. > :13:20.69-year-old Tony Wadsworth from Broughton Astley

:13:21. > :13:22.and his 59-year-old wife Julie appeared at Warwick Crown

:13:23. > :13:41.Their trial will get under way on 15 May.

:13:42. > :13:43.Derbyshire Police are investigating a sexual assault

:13:44. > :13:46.A 39-year-old woman was running along a canal path

:13:47. > :13:49.towards Ambergate from Whatstandwell when she was approached by a man

:13:50. > :13:52.He then ran off towards Whatstandwell.

:13:53. > :13:54.Officers say the incident is not linked to the sexual assaults

:13:55. > :13:58.The Galleries of Justice in Nottingham is to re-open next

:13:59. > :14:00.month with a new name, after a ?1 million makeover.

:14:01. > :14:02.The former courthouse and jail will be known

:14:03. > :14:06.Visitors will see new interactive displays and an exhibition

:14:07. > :14:09.The organisation will also be launching new education programmes

:14:10. > :14:45.Controversial plans for a treatment centre to help street drinkers

:14:46. > :14:48.The recovery hub will replace the ageing Anchor Centre which has

:14:49. > :14:52.Plans were approved by Leicester City Council last night.

:14:53. > :14:55.The new centre will be near Humberstone Gate in the city.

:14:56. > :14:57.Nearby businesses say they're concerned about alcoholics

:14:58. > :15:01.We want to help the area are reduced levels of drinking on the streets

:15:02. > :15:05.and anti-social behaviour associated with it.

:15:06. > :15:09.And we have a report from those who understand the issues very well.

:15:10. > :15:12.To mark the BBC's school report news day, young people from our region

:15:13. > :15:15.have been making news reports about things that matter to them.

:15:16. > :15:17.And, according to research for School Report, half

:15:18. > :15:19.of all teenagers with mental well-being issues try to cope alone.

:15:20. > :15:22.At the Willow Bank Hospital School in Leicester teenagers told

:15:23. > :15:35.It is quite embarrassing telling people your age that

:15:36. > :15:38.I have never been diagnosed with anything.

:15:39. > :15:40.One minute I am like OK, the next I am not.

:15:41. > :15:43.Working with them, day in, day out, this thing you realise

:15:44. > :15:46.is that they feel a sense of hopelessness at their inability

:15:47. > :15:47.to get across their message to the world.

:15:48. > :15:50.And it is not very often they get a chance to broadcast it.

:15:51. > :15:54.There was a lot of people bullying me, and that stopped me

:15:55. > :16:02.As well as that, you have to do some volunteering so your CV looks good.

:16:03. > :16:04.As well as that, you've got to get a job.

:16:05. > :16:08.And as well as that you've got to go to a club so it looks

:16:09. > :16:12.I have had a few suicide attempts, most of them I end up in hospital.

:16:13. > :16:15.To stop myself from constantly feeling down, I make jokes.

:16:16. > :16:18.But if I didn't make jokes, I think I would just cry.

:16:19. > :16:20.Cyberbullying is extremely damaging to use nowadays.

:16:21. > :16:22.Cyberbullying is extremely damaging to youths nowadays.

:16:23. > :16:29.Being able to talk about why they are here is massive

:16:30. > :16:32.for our students because the primary coping strategy for a lot of our

:16:33. > :16:34.students is pretending everything is fine until they crashed

:16:35. > :16:37.of our students is pretending everything is fine until they crash

:16:38. > :16:41.It makes you the person that you are in the future.

:16:42. > :16:43.And in the future, gradually, things start to get better.

:16:44. > :16:46.And there are some more school reports from 11 to 16 year

:16:47. > :16:59.First, Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare says he doesn't

:17:00. > :17:03.care that his team are the last English side left in this

:17:04. > :17:07.After Manchester City were knocked out last night,

:17:08. > :17:12.the Foxes are carrying the Premier League flag alone into

:17:13. > :17:17.But Shakespeare has a relegation battle on his mind, and is only

:17:18. > :17:23.It is about solely that we put in a performance that made everyone

:17:24. > :17:25.proud on Tuesday night, in terms of this football club.

:17:26. > :17:28.And that is really our aim, looking forward.

:17:29. > :17:36.We have to make sure that we are not only competitive in any game,

:17:37. > :17:39.but every game we go into, we try to get a result.

:17:40. > :17:42.At the City Ground the new manager Mark Warburton says

:17:43. > :17:44.Nottingham Forest is a club of stature and it needs stability

:17:45. > :17:51.He has been speaking at a press conference

:17:52. > :18:02.Here's the man Nottingham Forest have turned to to save their

:18:03. > :18:07.championship status. Mark Warburton was appointed on Tuesday. Today, his

:18:08. > :18:16.first Nottingham Forest press conference. It excites me. There is

:18:17. > :18:23.a job to be done here. There is no doubt about the potential. He has

:18:24. > :18:28.become the eighth manager since the new owner came in nearly five years

:18:29. > :18:35.ago. Had he been given any reassurances of your position if the

:18:36. > :18:39.club is sold in the summer? I have received the guarantees I need to

:18:40. > :18:50.receive. I am comfortable and confident they are moving forward.

:18:51. > :18:55.He is 54 years old. He became a coach ten years ago. His first

:18:56. > :18:58.managerial job was taking Brentford from League 1 to the championship

:18:59. > :19:04.play-offs. Highly thought of in England, he went to Scotland and

:19:05. > :19:07.secured Glasgow Rangers's return to the Scottish Premiership. Best

:19:08. > :19:18.appointment he has made since he came in. Every time we get one, they

:19:19. > :19:23.never have time. Just gets sacked. Same routine. He did well at

:19:24. > :19:30.Brentford. He left Rangers in a bit of a cloud. But it is a new start

:19:31. > :19:36.for Nottingham Forest and him. Nottingham Forest are two points

:19:37. > :19:40.above the relegation zone. Did you feel it was a calculated risk coming

:19:41. > :19:44.here? Nottingham Forest have so little time to try to stay in the

:19:45. > :19:53.division. Nine tough games coming up. This division is relentless. You

:19:54. > :20:02.live and die by the quality of the decisions. But the size of the club,

:20:03. > :20:09.their history, that has to excite you. He has to hit the ground

:20:10. > :20:11.running. His next game is the biggest of the season, the East

:20:12. > :20:15.Midlands derby. So, Warburton will be in the dug out

:20:16. > :20:18.for Forest at the City Ground. Facing him will be Derby County's

:20:19. > :20:21.new man Gary Rowett. Today in the build up to the game

:20:22. > :20:24.Rowett says he has met He also confirmed that

:20:25. > :20:27.Forest were interested I think with the Nottingham Forest

:20:28. > :20:31.thing, there was interest from different factions,

:20:32. > :20:33.but it was obviously a very messy situation with different people

:20:34. > :20:38.trying to perhaps by the club, situation with different people

:20:39. > :20:40.trying to perhaps buy the club, But, you know, at no point

:20:41. > :20:47.was I physically offer that job. But, you know, at no point

:20:48. > :20:50.was I physically offered that job. It's a club that, you know, probably

:20:51. > :20:54.in a different way to Derby, As far as I'm concerned,

:20:55. > :21:02.if you're giving me the opportunity of the two clubs, I don't think it

:21:03. > :21:05.would've been that Now, a bit of a landmark moment

:21:06. > :21:09.for basketball in Leicester. The Riders men are well

:21:10. > :21:11.used to big finals. And this weekend - in Glasgow -

:21:12. > :21:14.they will defend the BBL What is different this time is that

:21:15. > :21:18.joining them in Glasgow They are contesting

:21:19. > :21:23.their first major trophy. A little game of three on three

:21:24. > :21:42.is supposed to be a bit of fun, but the men are taking

:21:43. > :21:44.it way too seriously. Now, every competition should

:21:45. > :21:57.feel easy after that. So I thought we prepared

:21:58. > :21:59.them pretty well. The women's team at Hall definitely

:22:00. > :22:04.have glory on their mind. It's been a swift rise to second

:22:05. > :22:07.in the league and the Trophy final. Personnel wise, we have great

:22:08. > :22:10.players who have joined our team. Our coach emphasises

:22:11. > :22:13.the attitude of saying positive. The camaraderie is right there now

:22:14. > :22:16.because we are playing so well. It's been such a success

:22:17. > :22:21.since I've been here, so our spirits are very high

:22:22. > :22:24.and we are all very pumped. As for the men, they are

:22:25. > :22:26.the defending Trophy holders. No matter if this is a final

:22:27. > :22:38.or a regular-season game, No matter if this is a final

:22:39. > :22:41.or a regular season game, We describe here and play the full

:22:42. > :22:45.40 minutes and just keep going. Back in the three on three,

:22:46. > :22:48.the men's captain It may not look like it from that,

:22:49. > :22:52.but everyone insists We both want to be coming back

:22:53. > :22:58.with the trophy and I think their support in our game earlier

:22:59. > :23:01.that day and our support of them in the afternoon

:23:02. > :23:19.will definitely help. Both teams are on the BBC sport

:23:20. > :23:21.website on Sunday. You can watch them in full.

:23:22. > :23:23.Thank you. Now, it may only be tea-time,

:23:24. > :23:26.but if you fancy a lie down, we have news of a rather swish place

:23:27. > :23:29.to lay your head. It is the huge state bed

:23:30. > :23:32.at Kedleston Hall which has been restored to its former glory -

:23:33. > :23:34.complete with new The bed is the impressive

:23:35. > :23:39.centrepiece of a 30 year long restoration of the Derbyshire

:23:40. > :23:45.stately home's grandest rooms. Curtain up at last on one

:23:46. > :23:48.of the finest pieces The grand state bed

:23:49. > :23:52.at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire. Made by craftsmen in the 1760s,

:23:53. > :23:54.the bed is now back To use a 21st-century term,

:23:55. > :24:10.its sort of bling had gone. Things like the raid and the lease

:24:11. > :24:13.had gone or got very tarnished. And it ended up not having

:24:14. > :24:16.an accurate replica of the original And it felt really important

:24:17. > :24:20.that we sort of got that. And it felt really important

:24:21. > :24:23.that we sort of got that back. Simon and a team of conservatives

:24:24. > :24:27.and modern craftspeople laboured to restore the carvings,

:24:28. > :24:29.silk banners and gilding. Surprisingly, all that gold had

:24:30. > :24:32.a practical function back So the gilding is

:24:33. > :24:34.luxurious material. The room would have been lit

:24:35. > :24:38.by candles, there would've a fire. It wouldn't have been

:24:39. > :24:40.terribly bright. And all this gilding helped

:24:41. > :24:43.you find your way to the bed. It helped people navigate

:24:44. > :24:47.their way around the room The bed had been designed

:24:48. > :24:50.for a monarch's visit. Sadly one never came

:24:51. > :24:52.to Kedleston Hall, It was partly designed

:24:53. > :24:57.in the hope of a royal visit. This was a family who were very

:24:58. > :25:00.much sort of upping Kedleston was really built

:25:01. > :25:08.as a way for the family to show they had money,

:25:09. > :25:10.but more importantly, The rooms tended to get more

:25:11. > :25:14.and more grand the further around So the bed is really intended to be

:25:15. > :25:21.that sort of great final It has taken 30 years to restore

:25:22. > :25:25.all the finest rooms in the house. Now, as this season starts,

:25:26. > :25:44.the bed can be seen once The throw and curtains are missing.

:25:45. > :25:52.Everyone knows a good bed needs that.

:25:53. > :25:56.We have had sunny spells throughout much of this week. Scattered showers

:25:57. > :26:01.on the way. Some blue sky over the region earlier, but over the weekend

:26:02. > :26:05.we will look to the flowers for some brightness, not the skies. Thanks

:26:06. > :26:10.for your pictures. Tomorrow, we expect some bright spells in the

:26:11. > :26:15.morning. We expect wet weather later on in the day. This was the picture

:26:16. > :26:21.earlier on. Lots of cloud around. Breaking up towards the end of the

:26:22. > :26:25.afternoon, so some brightness. Detail for the next few days,

:26:26. > :26:29.high-pressure is moving out of the way. Low-pressure working its way

:26:30. > :26:34.and. We expect to see some wet weather. Let's look at the deep

:26:35. > :26:40.chill overnight tonight. Patchy shower starting to move across the

:26:41. > :26:45.region. Clearer spells in the early hours as well. Lohse night of around

:26:46. > :26:49.4 degrees. Tomorrow morning, we will see some bright spells to begin

:26:50. > :26:56.with. Cloud will push on from the north and west. Some rain with that

:26:57. > :27:03.as well. Highs of around 10 degrees. It will feel chilly at times

:27:04. > :27:08.tomorrow. Breezy as well. We expect more rain on the way, not a complete

:27:09. > :27:16.wash-out at the weekend. Temperature is recovering a little as well. As

:27:17. > :27:21.he looked towards next week, again more fronts coming in our direction,

:27:22. > :27:26.so more rain on the way. Enjoy the brightness when you see it because

:27:27. > :27:28.we expect quite a deal of wet weather over the course of the

:27:29. > :27:41.weekend. I am going to buy cushions and a

:27:42. > :27:48.throw. Apparently they are required. The new! Goodbye.

:27:49. > :27:53.It was the most beautiful view I've ever been through.

:27:54. > :27:58.For one second, I was swimming on my back, and I was looking to the sky.

:27:59. > :28:04.I was swimming across the Aegean Sea.

:28:05. > :28:20.I was a refugee, going from Syria to Germany.

:28:21. > :28:25.MasterChef is back, to find the country's best home chef.
