:00:00. > :00:14.The Leicester City fan who suffered THREE heart attacks.

:00:15. > :00:20.Today, Jim Blockley met the opportunity firefighter who came to

:00:21. > :00:25.his aid when he collapsed during a match. Beyond belief. Not just that

:00:26. > :00:32.he is alive, but that he has sat up and talking. It is fantastic. Hit by

:00:33. > :00:36.a torrent of water. The aftermath of the dramatic mains burst in Derby.

:00:37. > :00:39.Plus, an apprenticeship college clothes as after losing a

:00:40. > :00:47.multi-million pound Government control. -- closes. And they've got

:00:48. > :00:49.a spring in their step. Find out why in Newark is one of the happiest

:00:50. > :00:59.places in the UK to live. Welcome to Monday's

:01:00. > :01:02.programme with Anne Davies First tonight: He's

:01:03. > :01:07.a walking miracle - that's how Leicester City fan

:01:08. > :01:10.Jim Blockley has been described The father-of-three collapsed

:01:11. > :01:16.and suffered three heart attacks after becoming ill

:01:17. > :01:19.during Leicester City's Champions' League match

:01:20. > :01:21.against Sevilla last week. Luckily for him, an off-duty

:01:22. > :01:43.firefighter was sitting close An emotional reunion with the

:01:44. > :01:49.firefighter who helped to save his life after Jim Blockley became ill

:01:50. > :01:55.during the match. I went to a steward and told him I was fine. I

:01:56. > :01:59.walked along with him and we got to the halfway line and I said I felt a

:02:00. > :02:05.bit faint. That is all I can remember. Then I passed out.

:02:06. > :02:10.Locally, Kaz Whitener, South Yorkshire firefighter was sitting

:02:11. > :02:17.close by rushed to help. I saw him and he was being held up as soon

:02:18. > :02:24.afterward, a couple of the on site medics came and started to give him

:02:25. > :02:28.CPR, something I've received a lot of training in. I was sat quite

:02:29. > :02:34.close to the end of the Aiello, so I managed to get quickly there and

:02:35. > :02:41.help him at the front. All in all, he did actually die on three

:02:42. > :02:45.separate occasions. They told us to kiss him goodbye at A and they did

:02:46. > :03:01.not think he would make it here. But he did. And he is now recovering.

:03:02. > :03:11.How you about what Caz did for you? If it wasn't her, I wouldn't be

:03:12. > :03:18.here. It is amazing. Not just that he is alive, but that's it is sat up

:03:19. > :03:20.and talking. It is fantastic. Leicester City football club's

:03:21. > :03:24.ambassador has been to visit with a signed shirts from all the players.

:03:25. > :03:30.It is fitting that Jim's first words were about the results. I knew I was

:03:31. > :03:34.in hospital, and I laid there and asked what the score was. When she

:03:35. > :03:39.told me was still - nil, and then said I, but view after that. He

:03:40. > :03:43.knows how lucky is to be alive. As for the next Leicester City match,

:03:44. > :03:49.he says he plans to take it easy and watch game from home.

:03:50. > :03:52.People living in two houses badly damaged by a dramatic water pipe

:03:53. > :03:56.explosion in Derby won't be able to return home for months.

:03:57. > :03:59.A road in the Chester Green area of the city will also

:04:00. > :04:04.Engineers have been working around the clock on repairs.

:04:05. > :04:16.Simon, how much progress have they made?

:04:17. > :04:22.The well, they have been working hard here throughout the day and as

:04:23. > :04:29.you can see, what is still gushing through here. That's not because

:04:30. > :04:32.there is any new problem, but because the engineers of control the

:04:33. > :04:37.flow of the water as they continue their work. They have had to have

:04:38. > :04:42.you pipe brought in for this repair and that has been fitted today and

:04:43. > :04:46.we are told that work will continue. It will carry on for some time.

:04:47. > :04:50.Around seven and a half thousand homes and businesses had their water

:04:51. > :04:54.supply affected by this and people that live immediately by the burst

:04:55. > :04:59.main say it was like a bomb going off.

:05:00. > :05:06.2am yesterday and a huge fountain of water and rubble explodes. It

:05:07. > :05:12.flooded and damaged nearby homes in Mansfield Road. Most people have not

:05:13. > :05:16.been able to return them properly, except for two households. Dawn's

:05:17. > :05:21.home is too badly damaged. She will be overseeing repairs, but will have

:05:22. > :05:25.to rent elsewhere. There are thousands of tonnes of water

:05:26. > :05:30.literally coming through the house. Top to bottom. There is nothing left

:05:31. > :05:34.unaffected. It is absolute devastation. As you can see. Every

:05:35. > :05:41.room is gone, furniture ruined, everything. There's very little to

:05:42. > :05:46.salvage. The water surged into the reception area of a local church.

:05:47. > :05:51.This shows how much water came in here. When I got down here, I was

:05:52. > :05:57.amazed to see the amount of water that was flooding around, all of the

:05:58. > :06:02.debris on the road and around, in some ways, it looked a bit like a

:06:03. > :06:05.war zone if he did know any better. Severn Trent Water parlour and a

:06:06. > :06:11.permanently fix the pipe rather than temporarily repairing it. Were take

:06:12. > :06:15.up pipeline is out of service, you need to bring water in from another

:06:16. > :06:20.area. We decided today whether we were going to do a full repair or a

:06:21. > :06:23.temporary one. We decided to do the full repair, so that will be on

:06:24. > :06:28.there for you next two days and then we need to reinstate the road in the

:06:29. > :06:32.days after that. They restart as a bite of thousands of people as

:06:33. > :06:35.quickly as possible. They apologised for the disruption. They could be a

:06:36. > :06:40.long time before life returns to normal for those most affected.

:06:41. > :06:46.And all those affected by the incident, you can see the whole

:06:47. > :06:50.other, are being spoken to by loss adjusters. Severn Trent Water say

:06:51. > :06:53.they will get compensation. We stalled another cause, but

:06:54. > :06:58.specialists will be looking at the evidence and also the data recorder

:06:59. > :07:02.to try and find out the cause and here it remains closed and because

:07:03. > :07:07.of all of this work, the road will stay closed for the next few days.

:07:08. > :07:08.So commuters in and out of Derby will have to suffer congestion.

:07:09. > :07:11.A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old have appeared in court today

:07:12. > :07:15.charged with murder after a man was found dying

:07:16. > :07:20.45-year-old Timothy Smith from Tamworth was discovered

:07:21. > :07:22.on the Gelders Hall industrial estate in Shepshed

:07:23. > :07:25.Mark Law from Shepshed and the teenager, have been remanded

:07:26. > :07:33.37 drivers have been caught not wearing seat belts during a four-day

:07:34. > :07:38.Police officers patrolled the motorway and the A1

:07:39. > :07:42.It's part of the Fatal Four campaign, which targets

:07:43. > :07:44.drink-driving, speeding, not wearing a seat belt and using

:07:45. > :07:54.Still to come, a look back at a sporting

:07:55. > :08:01.The Tigers brought back the Anglo Welsh Cup and the Riders

:08:02. > :08:19.A national apprenticeship college has shut down,

:08:20. > :08:21.after losing a multi-million pound Government contract.

:08:22. > :08:22.It's understood that more than 200 staff,

:08:23. > :08:24.at the Derbyshire headquarters of "Positive Outcomes",

:08:25. > :08:30.Our Social Affairs Correspondent, Jeremy Ball, is there for us

:08:31. > :08:56.This is the headquarters building, where most of them worked.

:08:57. > :08:58.And some staff have also lost their jobs at Positive Outcomes'

:08:59. > :09:04.Its website says it was running one of the country's largest

:09:05. > :09:07.with thousands of placements across the country

:09:08. > :09:12.in industries from property sales, to hospitality and warehousing.

:09:13. > :09:14.Now the Department for Education's confirmed that it's terminated

:09:15. > :09:18.And it says it's now talking to employers.

:09:19. > :09:19.So those apprenticeships can be transferred.

:09:20. > :09:29.And young people's training programmes aren't disrupted.

:09:30. > :09:32.We are having a few problems with the sound.

:09:33. > :09:39.And has "Positive Outcomes" issued any statement about the closure?

:09:40. > :09:41.We haven't been able to contact them directly,

:09:42. > :09:45.But they did send a statement to a trade publication called "FE Week".

:09:46. > :09:49.That says they had to cease trading, because they couldn't find a buyer.

:09:50. > :09:51.And they've thanked the staff, who've worked for the business

:09:52. > :10:19.Sorry about that, we have a few sound problems. Comic up, it is the

:10:20. > :10:24.biggest cancer killer in the young, but there is a relatively recent --

:10:25. > :10:25.little research done into it. The causes brain tumour is little

:10:26. > :10:30.understood. Someone who really wants

:10:31. > :10:32.to change all that is Her brother Ryan

:10:33. > :10:35.died a few days ago. The 26-year-old was passionate

:10:36. > :10:37.about raising awareness of the disease and that's work

:10:38. > :10:40.Melanie now plans to continue. Rob Sissons - our Health

:10:41. > :10:48.Correspondent has more. Ryan, Melanie's brother and best

:10:49. > :10:52.friend. She says that throughout his cruel illness, Ryan was passionate

:10:53. > :10:57.about raising both money and the profile of brain tumour disease.

:10:58. > :11:00.Ryan was not really given a proper diagnosis until last year, because

:11:01. > :11:07.the brain tumour he had was so rare and they are many types brain tumour

:11:08. > :11:11.and they do know enough about them, which is why he's no longer here,

:11:12. > :11:18.because we don't have a cure. I'd been people realise our common it is

:11:19. > :11:22.an especially in the young. The facts are stark. Brain tumours in

:11:23. > :11:27.the under 40s of the biggest cancer killer, that is for the children and

:11:28. > :11:31.adults. And yet, when it comes to the national spend on cancer

:11:32. > :11:35.research, just 1% goes on at this devastating disease. Melania still

:11:36. > :11:39.going to get involved in the fund-raising events Ryan had planned

:11:40. > :11:44.over the next few weeks. Including wear a hat today, which is the

:11:45. > :11:46.centrepiece of this brain tumour awareness month. Ireland have the

:11:47. > :11:52.strength to do this because he was going to do it and if he can do it

:11:53. > :11:59.in a position he was in then, I can do it for him. I have done lots of

:12:00. > :12:07.different fundraising things. I think people can learn from him that

:12:08. > :12:08.you need to live life to the fold. Every day. Leave it like it is your

:12:09. > :12:10.last. Rob, there is still so much we don't

:12:11. > :12:19.understand about brain tumours? Yes, I want the campaigners are

:12:20. > :12:25.saying is they want decisive action. They say this has been going on for

:12:26. > :12:28.years, this underfunding. Melanie, who we saw in the fold, we have

:12:29. > :12:35.pictures of her chatting to someone at her home from the national

:12:36. > :12:39.charity, the Brain Tumour Research Organisation and they say this is

:12:40. > :12:43.very important and we need to pour money into it.

:12:44. > :12:46.What we know with absolute certainty is if we do not increase research

:12:47. > :12:48.funding, we will not make a difference in terms

:12:49. > :12:49.of outcomes and options of

:12:50. > :12:54.We are just asking for some form of parity.

:12:55. > :12:56.Look at what has been going on with breast

:12:57. > :12:57.cancer and leukaemia and the

:12:58. > :13:00.steps they've made, we applaud that, but we say give us parity of

:13:01. > :13:03.funding and make a difference for brain tumour patients as well.

:13:04. > :13:07.And what gives this added urgency is that cases are increasing?

:13:08. > :13:12.For reasons unknown, the numbers are going up. We have an interesting

:13:13. > :13:19.figure and this is the number of cases in the East Midlands. It is

:13:20. > :13:27.372 cases. This is in 2014. They're the latest figures available. That

:13:28. > :13:33.is up 20% in the space of just three years. So at the time people are

:13:34. > :13:36.saying we should be do more research, the number of people

:13:37. > :13:37.affected on a number of people quite frankly dying from this condition is

:13:38. > :13:52.going up. Thank you. Coming up on Inside Out tonight,

:13:53. > :13:55.as demand continues to grow for council homes, owners of empty

:13:56. > :13:57.properties across the East Midlands are being urged to bring

:13:58. > :13:59.them back into use. Across our region there

:14:00. > :14:01.are an estimated 20,000 homes that have been sitting empty

:14:02. > :14:04.for more than six months, Now a team at Leicester City Council

:14:05. > :14:08.is bringing around to hundred back It's not acceptable for properties

:14:09. > :14:13.to remain like this. They are a detriment

:14:14. > :14:15.to the environment, to the area, the neighbours

:14:16. > :14:21.complain about them, so every property that

:14:22. > :14:24.returned back into us is an extra property for a family, a much-needed

:14:25. > :14:39.And you can see more on that story on Inside Out at 7.30 on BBC One.

:14:40. > :14:45.What makes them happy in the happiest part of our region? Just

:14:46. > :14:58.where is the cheeriest spot in the East Midlands?

:14:59. > :15:03.Time for sport, and what a weekend for Leicester sport.

:15:04. > :15:05.Yes, coming up, trophies for the Leicester Tigers

:15:06. > :15:11.and Riders and all the drama from the East Midlands derby.

:15:12. > :15:13.But first, the former Head Coach of Italy has told French TV

:15:14. > :15:15.he turned down an approach from Leicester City.

:15:16. > :15:18.Cesare Prandelli said he refused talks after seeing how

:15:19. > :15:21.Yet the decision has turned around the season.

:15:22. > :15:24.This weekend saw them win the fourth game in a row since the sacking.

:15:25. > :15:31.There were early gifts for Leicester on this

:15:32. > :15:40.newest Premier League ground, the London Stadium.

:15:41. > :15:42.The shot from the first of two goals in seven minutes

:15:43. > :15:44.in Leicester's own version of Super Saturday.

:15:45. > :15:49.It had been a tame 20 minutes for

:15:50. > :15:56.But under Craig Shakespeare, anything

:15:57. > :16:01.Leicester have not won an away league game all season.

:16:02. > :16:04.The goal before joining up with the England squad,

:16:05. > :16:11.And much about this man, Kasper Schmeichel,

:16:12. > :16:14.with another eye-catching performance in Leicester's goal.

:16:15. > :16:16.It is a wonder anything got past him,

:16:17. > :16:21.It set up a tense ending, but Schmeichel is the top of

:16:22. > :16:29.his game and anything that came his way from this was stopped.

:16:30. > :16:33.It bounces to him and you just make yourself as big as you can and hope

:16:34. > :16:36.it hits you and nine times out of ten, hope it doesn't,

:16:37. > :16:39.but this time, the luck was on my side.

:16:40. > :16:41.I thought we started really good, but the

:16:42. > :16:43.goals got in front, but it was definitely

:16:44. > :16:46.backs to the wall in the

:16:47. > :16:48.second half and I'm really pleased to get

:16:49. > :16:54.It is important to go into the international

:16:55. > :16:59.something today and to get the three points we have to be delighted with.

:17:00. > :17:00.Four games, four wins for Craig Shakespeare.

:17:01. > :17:02.Leicester are going into spring bristling with confidence.

:17:03. > :17:04.The discontented winter appears to be behind them.

:17:05. > :17:06.Well, onto the drama of Forest versus Derby.

:17:07. > :17:09.If you're a Red or a Ram, how was your Monday?

:17:10. > :17:11.Well, I guess Forest fans were the happier.

:17:12. > :17:14.But the two-all draw meant local pride shared and so were the points

:17:15. > :17:22.Natalie Jackson looks back at the East Midlands derby.

:17:23. > :17:29.Soon as Nottingham Forest and Derby County last met here, the two clubs

:17:30. > :17:34.have changed managers manages eight times between them. There is

:17:35. > :17:43.certainly know where they can poke fun at us when they're doing exactly

:17:44. > :17:48.the same thing. No joke for the men in arguably the most insecure jobs

:17:49. > :17:54.in football. Mark Robertson faces a nervy fight to keep Forest up and

:17:55. > :18:03.Gary row must survive the RAM and go for an outside push. Derby season

:18:04. > :18:10.was finished last week although it has been reignited. How big is the

:18:11. > :18:15.rivalry? It is big. Derby do not have to win it, but we do. The

:18:16. > :18:22.passion is significantly better than both clubs. If I sent derby win the

:18:23. > :18:26.Premier League, this will be shown worldwide. So both managers have

:18:27. > :18:34.been thrown in at the deep end today. This is a where tempers can

:18:35. > :18:44.often boil over. Always five state and so it was started with an early

:18:45. > :18:53.goal. It was scored by a player... Forest were better in the first half

:18:54. > :19:01.and Derby bet the second. -- better in the second. Five minutes later,

:19:02. > :19:10.Derby were ahead. David Nugent turns it around! Then with virtually the

:19:11. > :19:17.last kick of the game. It is an equalising goal! To show the unit

:19:18. > :19:20.they displayed in terms of on the pitch and with the fans, we need

:19:21. > :19:25.that unity and at Armadale togetherness. We have to see it out

:19:26. > :19:27.and we didn't have it don't quite get the free point. A

:19:28. > :19:33.disappointment, but there are positives. It's always nice to score

:19:34. > :19:38.a win in the Derby, and it does feel like a defeat, but we take a point

:19:39. > :19:39.and move onto the next game. A great header and we showed a lot of

:19:40. > :19:43.passion on the page. In League Two, Mansfield Town had

:19:44. > :19:46.gone for games without a goal, but found the scoring

:19:47. > :19:48.habit against Carlisle. Matt Green was the man who broke

:19:49. > :19:51.the drought with this goal midway And just to make sure of the points,

:19:52. > :19:55.Shaq Coulthirst got a second Meanwhile, Notts County survived

:19:56. > :19:58.an early setback at Meadow Lane when Mark Yeates was sent off

:19:59. > :20:01.with just over ten minutes gone But full-back Matt Tootle scored

:20:02. > :20:05.the only goal of the game just after half-time to leave Notts

:20:06. > :20:08.a healthy 11 points off Now, as promised, our

:20:09. > :20:22.look at a trophy-laden It was a day when Leicester Tigers

:20:23. > :20:29.brought back Rugby's Anglo Welsh Cup And when Basketball's Leicester

:20:30. > :20:32.Riders retained their grip A Sunday afternoon when,

:20:33. > :21:03.minute to minute, The Twickenham stoop, just before

:21:04. > :21:07.3pm. Leicester Tigers all to try and put a trophy in the Cabinet in the

:21:08. > :21:11.middle of a season of trouble and change. What turns out to be the

:21:12. > :21:23.decisive moment happens just 20 minutes later. 350 miles north of

:21:24. > :21:28.the Emperor 's Arena in Glasgow, Leicester Riders come out wanting to

:21:29. > :21:40.re-emphasise their dominance. It takes them less than 20 minutes to

:21:41. > :21:44.completely assert themselves. Taylor King with 13! There is attacking

:21:45. > :21:48.brilliance, but they both built their victories on defence. Just

:21:49. > :21:55.before 430, Linda was rocking to tackle after tackle after tackle.

:21:56. > :22:02.The tackle count was amazing. Some unbelievable performances. Riders

:22:03. > :22:13.were strung up the bike at 20 to five at the Glasgow and that set up

:22:14. > :22:18.a back quaking moment. They were in complete control. The rugby boys,

:22:19. > :22:24.with a brief twitchy moment, Exeter came close. But in the end... They

:22:25. > :22:29.showed what it meant to them today. We always talk about looking each

:22:30. > :22:32.other in the eye and I am proud and cannot say anything else. It was a

:22:33. > :22:35.very good half an hour for Leicester. Very good indeed. One

:22:36. > :22:46.trophy has been one and another retained. Get used to conduct a

:22:47. > :22:56.Glasgow and it's been two years in a row we have been successful. We

:22:57. > :23:01.super excited! -- we are super excited! I am proud to be their

:23:02. > :23:04.coach. And tomorrow we'll get the chance

:23:05. > :23:07.to hear in-depth from both camps and take a closer look

:23:08. > :23:09.at both those trophies! We'll definitely have some shiny

:23:10. > :23:12.silverwear in this studio. Finally a quick mention
