:03:06. > :03:10.Our Health Correspondent Rob Sissons reports.

:03:11. > :03:13.You can tell a lot from a few strands of hair.

:03:14. > :03:16.It's been shown to contain one of the hormones,

:03:17. > :03:20.cortisol, that's important in regulating fertility.

:03:21. > :03:22.One centimetre of hair can tell you about the levels of cortisol

:03:23. > :03:26.that have been in circulation in the previous month.

:03:27. > :03:30.What we found was that corthsol measured in the three months prior

:03:31. > :03:34.to starting IVF, predicted the likelihood of women becoming

:03:35. > :03:40.Such that women who had higher levels of this hormone in

:03:41. > :03:43.their hair were much less likely to become pregnant.

:03:44. > :03:45.Here at the University of Nottingham, this is

:03:46. > :03:48.Although cortisol levels in human hair have

:03:53. > :03:55.The Nurture Fertility clinic in Sandiacre in Derbyshire

:03:56. > :03:58.funded the University of Nottingham research.

:03:59. > :04:01.Our success rates are high `lready, we're looking at 60 to 70%

:04:02. > :04:06.In the patients who had norlal cortisol levels, we saw that

:04:07. > :04:12.With higher levels, the pregnancy rate fell to around 40%.

:04:13. > :04:16.We looked at factors such as age or the number

:04:17. > :04:18.of eggs they had collected, really important

:04:19. > :04:20.predictors, they were not as powerful as the cortisol

:04:21. > :04:23.measurements in the hair. That is really interesting.

:04:24. > :04:26.Joanne has been through IVF and now has eight-month-old

:04:27. > :04:31.IVF is very stressful because the main thing you have to

:04:32. > :04:36.It is ultimately the thing that can also drive you

:04:37. > :04:40.Anything that can lower your stress levels is always a bonus.

:04:41. > :04:44.Sarah turned to acupuncture to relieve stress.

:04:45. > :04:48.She now has two children, but it was seven cycles of HVF.

:04:49. > :04:53.Total, utter, emotional roller-coaster.

:04:54. > :04:57.You start thinking, I'm going to get a baby out of

:04:58. > :05:00.this, and then I went for scams and realised I haven't got `s many

:05:01. > :05:03.eggs as I thought there'd bd or there wasn't as many follicles,

:05:04. > :05:07.so you think, OK, that's reducing my chances.

:05:08. > :05:10.The high cortisol levels might not be all down to stress.

:05:11. > :05:13.The researchers want to to do a bigger study.

:05:14. > :05:16.We've done a really small study on a sample of just under 90

:06:05. > :06:07.more than a year after the disruption ended.

:06:08. > :06:13.For months on end, it was chaos on the Chilwell High Road.

:06:14. > :06:16.Now, more than a year has p`ssed since the tramline opened,

:06:17. > :06:20.but the businesses will nevdr forget the destruction.

:06:21. > :06:23.People couldn't get here, so they just didn't come,

:06:24. > :06:26.they couldn't park, they soletimes couldn't get into the shops.

:06:27. > :06:28.There was a great big hole outside our shop at one stage.

:06:29. > :06:32.Takings dropped by probably half and now they've

:06:33. > :06:34.dropped by three quarters, I think.

:06:35. > :06:36.There's just nobody coming in, hardly.

:06:37. > :06:41.In all, 128 businesses recehved financial support, and todax we can

:06:42. > :06:44.reveal how much taxpayers' loney was needed to keep them afloat.

:06:45. > :06:49.Nottinghamshire County Council gave ?1.33 million to shops

:06:50. > :06:51.and cafes in Beeston, and that figure was matched

:06:52. > :06:56.The city also paid around three quarters of a million

:06:57. > :06:59.to businesses in Clifton, meaning the total amount spdnt

:07:00. > :07:05.For many of the shops and cafes around here,

:07:06. > :07:09.this money wasn't compensathon, and without it they'd

:07:10. > :07:13.Some are still struggling, and two businesses told me that

:07:14. > :07:16.after much heartache, they are now selling up.

:07:17. > :07:20.The Cameron House Shop moved seven weeks ago,

:07:21. > :07:25.We had no options during the tram work.

:07:26. > :07:27.We had to literally stand there and try and trade

:07:28. > :07:29.on a building site, so we didn't have compensathon.

:07:30. > :07:33.The financial assistance was to assist us to keep tr`ding

:07:34. > :07:36.during the tram works, so there's no compensation been

:07:37. > :07:39.offered or ever will be offered, unfortunately.

:07:40. > :07:42.In a lot of town centres and shopping areas, you do have a high

:07:43. > :07:49.With the financial assistance package, we were able to help

:07:50. > :07:53.businesses through that long period of construction,

:07:54. > :07:56.but there will always be certain changes in terms of the shops

:07:57. > :08:00.The figures released today have reignited the debate

:08:01. > :08:03.about the success of Nottingham's tram extension.

:08:04. > :08:07.Studies show there are now fewer empty shop fronts in Beeston,

:08:08. > :08:15.but other areas may never see the benefit.

:08:16. > :08:18.Dog walkers in one of Leicestershire's beauty spots

:08:19. > :08:21.will face an on-the-spot fine of ?100 if they fail

:08:22. > :08:26.It follows an increase in problems at Bradgate Park which incltde

:08:27. > :08:30.the deer being chased by dogs off their leads.

:08:31. > :08:33.Wardens say fouling is also an increasing problem and they want

:08:34. > :08:39.I realise there are a lot of good dog owners out there that are very

:08:40. > :08:43.We're not expecting a big enforcement activity.

:08:44. > :08:45.These controls are brought in place to try

:08:46. > :08:49.and control people and make sure everyone can enjoy the park.

:08:50. > :08:51.I think it's a good idea especially with

:08:52. > :08:55.I don't know whether it is enforceable.

:08:56. > :08:58.The park wardens or that, who would take

:08:59. > :09:03.The government has given final approval for an extension

:09:04. > :09:09.New pitches, spectator stands and a cafe can now be built at

:09:10. > :09:13.Erewash Borough Council had approved the club's plans in August

:09:14. > :09:16.but that decision was referred to the Secretary of State.

:09:17. > :09:18.The club hopes the improvemdnts will help it return to the

:09:19. > :09:30.So, it's goodbye from me but with your weather now, here's Kay.

:09:31. > :09:39.Hello. Good evening. We havd had some lovely sunset pictures coming

:09:40. > :09:45.in. Tom sent this one in. Lovely with variable cloud. The cloud

:09:46. > :09:50.continues to fizzle. We're looking at variable cloud and clear spells.

:09:51. > :09:53.Tomorrow will be a mostly dry and fine day. If we take a look at the

:09:54. > :09:58.bigger picture you can see high pressure firmly in charge w`s just

:09:59. > :10:03.out still we've still got that area of low pressure which could give us

:10:04. > :10:08.the odd isolated shower. Few and far between. Unlucky if you catch one.

:10:09. > :10:13.Overnight tonight, any showdrs fizzling, variable amounts of cloud,

:10:14. > :10:17.plenty of clear skies and a light breeze. That'll set is up for a

:10:18. > :10:24.chilly night. It'll be down to about 7 degrees. It will allow for mist

:10:25. > :10:28.and fog patches to form. Whdre that does come through it could be

:10:29. > :10:33.stubborn to clear. It will do so and it will brighten up. Good spells of

:10:34. > :10:37.sunshine. Very small chance of an isolated shower but on the whole

:10:38. > :10:45.most of us will stay dry, a light breeze and temperatures abott 1

:10:46. > :10:49.degrees. So, taking us into Saturday. It is going to be a chilly

:10:50. > :10:54.start, mist and fog again. On the whole it is going to be a dry day.

:10:55. > :10:58.Inter Sunday as well, it looks like it will stay dry. This area of low

:10:59. > :11:00.pressure stays down south. Settled conditions for the weekend. That is

:11:01. > :11:03.all from nurse Temperatures up into double figures.

:11:04. > :11:11.The outlook, mostly dry for the next few days. Now the national outlook.

:11:12. > :11:20.Good evening. We are likely to the all colours of the autumn, tomorrow,

:11:21. > :11:24.fog could be an issue. Today, West has been best. Beautiful sunny

:11:25. > :11:27.spells breaking through the cloud in western areas but running down

:11:28. > :11:31.through North Sea coasts again, a frequent rash of showers. Some

:11:32. > :11:34.coming further inland but look at this picture, a typical story of the

:11:35. > :11:39.Norfolk coast this afternoon, choppy seas and rather threatening looking

:11:40. > :11:42.skies. It stays breezy through the night here and showers die back

:11:43. > :11:43.towards the Norfolk and Suffolk
