:00:18. > :00:20.There's concern tonight that the takeover of a struggling

:00:21. > :00:21.Nottinghamshire hospital trust may be doomed.

:00:22. > :00:24.Top bosses at Nottingham's hospitals were also looking after the running

:00:25. > :00:27.of King's Mill and Newark Hospitals - but have now stepped down

:00:28. > :00:32.Our Health Correspondent Rob Sissons reports.

:00:33. > :00:40.For months, Nottingham's top bosses have been doing two jobs, managing

:00:41. > :00:43.two trusts but now we hear the chief executive in Nottingham,

:00:44. > :00:46.the chief nurse and the chair are stepping back from their

:00:47. > :00:48.work at the Sherwood Forest Trust to concentrate on

:00:49. > :00:51.They have their work cut out because this accident and

:00:52. > :00:55.Waiting times are way longer than they should be on average.

:01:03. > :01:10.The messages we have had today from Nottingham

:01:11. > :01:12.and Sherwood are positive, they said they are still

:01:13. > :01:17.I spoke to Jeremy Hunt the Health Secretary

:01:18. > :01:20.this morning and he said exactly the same but of course we have been

:01:21. > :01:25.through some very difficult years when public confidence in our

:01:26. > :01:28.local NHS has been pretty poor due to those reports and the terrible

:01:29. > :01:33.finances, the waits in A both in Nottingham and King's Mill.

:01:34. > :01:39.At the Sherwood Hospital Trust they say they have made

:01:40. > :01:41.progress since branded inadequate by the Care Quality commission,

:01:42. > :01:45.We have made significant improvements in the last

:01:46. > :01:51.I hope will be reflected in a positive report from the CQC

:01:52. > :01:59.That has been led by the leadership team at Sherwood

:02:00. > :02:04.team that will be continuing over the next few months to drive forward

:02:05. > :02:06.these improvements and build on the improvements we have made.

:02:07. > :02:10.Some of today's news may have been the ritual dance of negotiation.

:02:11. > :02:13.Nottingham hospitals want to secure a good deal,

:02:14. > :02:16.they want a financial bailout for the King's Mill Hospital,

:02:17. > :02:23.if it is not right, they will not sign.

:02:24. > :02:26.There's been a rise in domestic violence against men in our region.

:02:27. > :02:28.Among speakers at an event in Leicester this weekend to tackle

:02:29. > :02:41.it will be a woman who's 20-year-old son was murdered by his partner.

:02:42. > :02:45.Four years ago Sarah Westle's life fell apart after her son Eddie was

:02:46. > :02:50.It never occurred to me that she had that sort of maliciousness,

:02:51. > :03:02.Eddie was stabbed 24 times by his partner Michelle.

:03:03. > :03:08.After the court case in 2013 she was jailed for life.

:03:09. > :03:10.The story of Eddie is not just a tragic one-off.

:03:11. > :03:13.In the East Midlands over the last four years,

:03:14. > :03:18.the number of men reporting partner abuse to police has increased

:03:19. > :03:26.steadily from around 1600 in 2012 to 2700 last year.

:03:27. > :03:30.This video made by a Leicester film-maker who plays

:03:31. > :03:41.cases of domestic abuse can be misjudged due to gender stereotypes.

:03:42. > :03:45.Personally I cannot imagine being a victim in that situation,

:03:46. > :03:49.let alone the victim who

:03:50. > :03:52.does not have the support they need and perhaps feels they cannot speak

:03:53. > :03:56.That is why I have organised this event.

:03:57. > :03:59.Sarah is sharing her story at the event, she is determined

:04:00. > :04:08.to keep speaking out for those suffering in silence.

:04:09. > :04:10.More than 100 jobs are to go at Caterpillar's plant

:04:11. > :04:13.In all, 113 workers have agreed to take

:04:14. > :04:15.voluntary redundancy at its Desford site.

:04:16. > :04:18.The firm says the latest cuts have been caused by a recent

:04:19. > :04:24.Canadian-owned Bombardier is to cut 7,500 jobs worldwide.

:04:25. > :04:31.While the RMT union says the site won't be facing cuts,

:04:32. > :04:34.a spokesman for Bombardier has said no formal announcement has yet been

:04:35. > :04:42.The boss of a knitwear firm that's taken over a school in Derbyshire

:04:43. > :04:45.says he hopes it'll be a new beginning for

:04:46. > :04:48.Last year, the former Alfreton Grange Arts College

:04:49. > :04:52.was at the centre of an industrial dispute.

:04:53. > :04:54.But from this term, it's got a new sponsor

:04:55. > :05:02.November last year, strikes by teachers at Alfreton Grange

:05:03. > :05:03.showed how the institution, staff and

:05:04. > :05:08.Now it has all changed, a new name, new trust

:05:09. > :05:10.and even a new building is

:05:11. > :05:12.underway to replace the battered 1950s

:05:13. > :05:18.buildings currently housing the 850 pupils.

:05:19. > :05:25.For 55 years, it has employed people locally.

:05:26. > :05:28.We have very good local people and the whole local economy is

:05:29. > :05:32.We have taken the view we will never be

:05:33. > :05:34.here for another 55 years if we do not have

:05:35. > :05:37.well-educated children coming into the labour market.

:05:38. > :05:43.This term saw a new head teacher come

:05:44. > :05:49.into the school with a new programme to stimulate the pupils.

:05:50. > :05:52.The government has provided ?50 million for a new

:05:53. > :05:54.building but the pupils say it is more than that.

:05:55. > :05:57.It is a fresh start, new name, new teachers, new uniform, a

:05:58. > :06:00.I'm quite excited, especially going into a nice new

:06:01. > :06:08.Can a company like yours move into the education business?

:06:09. > :06:10.We're not moving into the education business

:06:11. > :06:11.but we are providing the

:06:12. > :06:14.leadership and guidance and we have been fortunate to recruit an

:06:15. > :06:16.excellent team of trustees, bringing in really good educational

:06:17. > :06:40.The weekend's officially here, and so is Kay -

:06:41. > :06:51.Some spells of sunshine and just the chance of the odd shower. Overnight,

:06:52. > :06:56.we will seize thickening cloud which will break up in the early hours of

:06:57. > :07:04.the morning. Temperatures down to 7 degrees. Myths, low cloud will lift

:07:05. > :07:12.and the cloud will break with bright spells. The risk of an odd shower.

:07:13. > :07:17.Most of us will remain dry tomorrow. A gentle breeze from the east. The

:07:18. > :07:21.winds will become more easterly as we head through Sunday. A great

:07:22. > :07:28.start to the day but it will brighten. 11 degrees. We hold onto

:07:29. > :07:32.high pressure for next week. A lot of settled weather to come.

:07:33. > :07:36.sunshine to be enjoyed. Louise Lear has the national forecast now

:07:37. > :07:41.though. Good evening. Heading off to bed

:07:42. > :07:44.wondering what is in store for the weekend? Pretty much what we have

:07:45. > :07:48.seen this week. Today we had a fair amount of cloud around and a few

:07:49. > :07:51.showers coming in off the North Sea coast. Topping and tailing the

:07:52. > :07:55.country, there was some beautiful spells of sunshine. It was glorious

:07:56. > :08:04.in the Shetland aisles this afternoon and down towards Cornwall

:08:05. > :08:06.as well. As for the weekend, it could start off on a chilly note

:08:07. > :08:09.with some patchy fog and frost, but then hopefully we should see some

:08:10. > :08:13.sunny spells coming through. The showers always likely to be out

:08:14. > :08:16.towards the east. The showers continuing this evening and

:08:17. > :08:19.overnight. Further west under clearer skies yet again, we could

:08:20. > :08:22.see the temperatures falling away and we could see some patchy fog

:08:23. > :08:27.which may well be slow to lift away first thing. In rural parts,

:08:28. > :08:33.temperatures will dip close to freezing so it's going to be a

:08:34. > :08:36.chilly start to Saturday morning, particularly if the fog lifts

:08:37. > :08:37.slowly. A scattering of
