:00:00. > 3:59:59Arsenal in Europe. Natalie thank you very much again at the Emirates

:00:00. > :00:11.Stadium. Natalie Perks. And now the news for

:00:12. > :00:15.the East Midlands, I'm Anne Davies. An MP has claimed that the Health

:00:16. > :00:19.Secretary Jeremy Hunt has refused to look at the patient referral

:00:20. > :00:23.patterns that could undermine the case to save the children's

:00:24. > :00:27.heart surgery centre in Leicester. We'll hear from Liz

:00:28. > :00:29.Kendall in a moment. She was speaking after surgeons said

:00:30. > :00:33.up to 150 patients a year were being sent out of this region,

:00:34. > :00:36.including to Great The BBC has discovered that waiting

:00:37. > :00:42.lists elsewhere are bigger Clare from Philby in Lincolnshire's

:00:43. > :00:52.a mum now but she had a heart operation herself as a baby

:00:53. > :00:54.at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. Last summer, her daughter,

:00:55. > :00:57.Eloise May needed surgery too. Peterborough City Hospital

:00:58. > :01:00.wanted to refer Eloise May to Great Ormond Street in London

:01:01. > :01:04.but Claire chose Glenfield instead. I'm comfortable there and I know

:01:05. > :01:11.that the doctors, surgeons I was much more comfortable

:01:12. > :01:18.with that than if she was to go somewhere like Great Ormond Street

:01:19. > :01:21.where I don't know anybody. NHS England is proposing to stop

:01:22. > :01:24.children's heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital as part

:01:25. > :01:28.of a review to raise Last year, Glenfield's three

:01:29. > :01:35.surgeons averaged 109 operations But the hospital says around 150

:01:36. > :01:42.patients a year are being sent out They've set a standard

:01:43. > :01:49.or an activity target let's call it, which says you have to do a number

:01:50. > :01:51.of certain operations. Now they've set that,

:01:52. > :01:55.they can see that not We object to the fact that we should

:01:56. > :02:00.be in the firing line for closure because we've got enough patients

:02:01. > :02:02.in our region. Figures obtained in a Freedom

:02:03. > :02:05.of Information request from the BBC to surgery centres that

:02:06. > :02:08.are currently likely to take Glenfield patients

:02:09. > :02:10.showed their waiting lists were far Last November, Great Ormond Street

:02:11. > :02:15.had nearly 160, most other centres Being where we are in the country,

:02:16. > :02:25.there is a drag to London that perhaps other networks don't have,

:02:26. > :02:28.but the proposal we have put forward is very simple,

:02:29. > :02:30.very straightforward. I think anyone can understand that

:02:31. > :02:33.if a patient lives near a centre, they go to that Centre

:02:34. > :02:35.for their care. It's obvious isn't it

:02:36. > :02:39.that they should be sending more to Leicester and then they'd be able

:02:40. > :02:43.to getting through the waiting lists sooner and less

:02:44. > :02:45.people would be waiting. NHS England declined our

:02:46. > :02:48.request for an interview. It says it won't dictate referral

:02:49. > :02:52.patterns that would take choice away The public consultation

:02:53. > :03:14.ends in June. Liz Kendall MP, I know you are a big

:03:15. > :03:21.supporter of the Glenfield, but do you support the patterns? I've

:03:22. > :03:25.always believed patients should decide what is the best place for

:03:26. > :03:28.treatment. My concern is that the figures seem to indicate that not

:03:29. > :03:34.all families many the East Midlands are being given information about

:03:35. > :03:38.the excellent service that Glenfield provides, and that's got to change.

:03:39. > :03:43.They say it's about choice, but if you have a sick child and somebody

:03:44. > :03:50.offers you one hospital, you are not going to ask what the options are?

:03:51. > :03:53.If parents aren't given information about Glenfield, the excellent

:03:54. > :03:56.outcomes and brilliant service they provide, how on earth can they

:03:57. > :04:00.choose what's best for their children? I've raised this issue

:04:01. > :04:03.with the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and with NHS England to ask

:04:04. > :04:10.them to look at these referral patterns. So far they've rerefused

:04:11. > :04:17.to do so, but I hope they take another look. Do you think parents

:04:18. > :04:21.aren't being told about Glenfield and they are not being offered that

:04:22. > :04:26.option even if they live within the area? There are concerns that not

:04:27. > :04:31.everybody is given the information they need and deserve. Some parents

:04:32. > :04:35.will decide that somewhere else other than the Glenfield is right

:04:36. > :04:38.for them, but if there's any evidence that parents aren't given

:04:39. > :04:41.all the information, that's wrong. Parents have the right to decide

:04:42. > :04:43.with doctors what is best for their children and that's what I've called

:04:44. > :04:47.for. Thank you very much. Three members of the Grove Rufford

:04:48. > :04:50.hunt have gone on trial accused The prosecution has been brought

:04:51. > :04:55.based on photos and video taken The court heard how a fox was seen

:04:56. > :05:00.being chased by a pack of hounds and there were no attempts

:05:01. > :05:14.to call them off. On Saturday 30th January last year,

:05:15. > :05:23.the Grove Rufford hunt met in the Bees' Knees pub.

:05:24. > :05:34.Huntsman Paul, Peter and Jane Wright are accused of allowing a fox to be

:05:35. > :05:42.hunted by dogs, which is outlawed. A witness said he saw a fox running

:05:43. > :05:50.into a field and then he was told where it had run. There was another

:05:51. > :05:54.fox chased by a pack of 45 hounds. It was a mass of dogs and there was

:05:55. > :05:58.nothing left of the fox, it was said. Paul and Jane were seen in the

:05:59. > :06:03.heard a hunting horn or shouts to heard a hunting horn or shouts to

:06:04. > :06:07.call the dogs off. He said, I did feel in a dangerous position because

:06:08. > :06:10.people were asking me why I was taking photos. The prosecution

:06:11. > :06:14.claims no-one saw a trail being laid by Peter White and if one had been

:06:15. > :06:17.laid properly, then the hounds wouldn't have been seen running

:06:18. > :06:22.across roads with traffic on. It also said the presence of a terrier

:06:23. > :06:26.man indicated foxhunting rather than trail hunting. The court was played

:06:27. > :06:30.a video of the kill showing a mass of hounds together in one place in a

:06:31. > :06:35.field. Pauline Hogg who filmed it said, nothing that I saw was done to

:06:36. > :06:37.stop the hounds killing that fox. All the defendants deny the charge,

:06:38. > :06:41.the trial continues. Next, a part of Derby which has been

:06:42. > :06:44.derelict for years could become home The city council's ?30 million plans

:06:45. > :06:50.to redevelop Duckworth Square Here's Victoria Hicks

:06:51. > :06:56.with more details. Back in the 80s this

:06:57. > :07:00.was Duckworth Square shopping centre, eventually demolished

:07:01. > :07:05.in 2003 and it's become a run-down But now the council plans

:07:06. > :07:10.to build an ice rink, residential and retail units here,

:07:11. > :07:15.as part of a ?30 million private Not really, not for that price no,

:07:16. > :07:21.because Derby does waste All good fun for the youngsters,

:07:22. > :07:27.you've got to invest to keep people A walk-in centre, an Olympic-sized

:07:28. > :07:34.swimming pool and supermarket have all been planned for this site,

:07:35. > :07:37.but all have failed due to issues with land ownership and viability,

:07:38. > :07:41.so will this scheme end up being put That's why the private sector's not

:07:42. > :07:48.been able to bring forward any scheme for redevelopment

:07:49. > :07:51.of this area. The vision is to see it lively,

:07:52. > :07:55.lots of people here and enjoying spending their time

:07:56. > :07:57.in Derby city centre. The ice rink has been

:07:58. > :08:03.proposed to Derby before and we never took it,

:08:04. > :08:08.Nottingham did, so we got the Spending ?30 million on this site

:08:09. > :08:14.when we've got derelict historic buildings like the Assembly Rooms,

:08:15. > :08:17.the Hippodrome, Frygate Station, that could use this money,

:08:18. > :08:21.as well as other services, I think it would be

:08:22. > :08:23.better spent elsewhere. The scheme will obviously need to be

:08:24. > :08:27.discussed and approved Then they'll need to find

:08:28. > :08:33.an operator to run the site. But the plan is to

:08:34. > :08:40.have it open by 2020. It's being claimed up to 600 jobs

:08:41. > :08:44.could be created in Leicester by two Artist impressions of the proposals

:08:45. > :08:49.for the Golden Mile Gateway area, off Belgrave Road have now been

:08:50. > :08:52.released by developers. They also want to build

:08:53. > :08:56.on the remaining part of the former Plans for both schemes will be

:08:57. > :09:01.on display to the public Derbyshire's "least stately" stately

:09:02. > :09:07.home is giving up more of its secrets as visitors have been

:09:08. > :09:10.allowed access to rooms never Until now the family apartments

:09:11. > :09:15.at the National Trust's Calke Abbey had remained firmly out

:09:16. > :09:18.of public view. Now though, we can all see where

:09:19. > :09:22.and how the previous owners lived. The area includes a dining room,

:09:23. > :09:26.drawing room and kitchen. On to tonight's football and the two

:09:27. > :09:29.games involving our local teams. Derby County were held 1-1

:09:30. > :09:35.after an equaliser five minutes into injury time from Preston North

:09:36. > :09:38.End. And at the City Ground, Nottingham

:09:39. > :09:52.Forest lost 3-2 to Brentford. That is how the news and sport is,

:09:53. > :09:55.now let's get the weather. We have a band of rain through us as

:09:56. > :09:58.we move through the night tonight. You can see that on the pressure

:09:59. > :10:02.chart making its way towards the east. It looks like it will have

:10:03. > :10:07.largely cleared by tomorrow morning. As we move through tonight, there'll

:10:08. > :10:10.be heavy bursts of rain on that, plenty of low cloud around as well.

:10:11. > :10:16.It will become increasingly patchy as we move into the early hours. It

:10:17. > :10:20.will introduce some slightly milder air, so overnight we are looking at

:10:21. > :10:24.lows of six or seven. As we move into tomorrow, some rain

:10:25. > :10:28.around first thing but that'll clear pretty quickly. A largely cloudy

:10:29. > :10:32.start but then seeing brighter intervals and the chance of seeing

:10:33. > :10:35.the odd isolated shower the further south you go. The north-east of our

:10:36. > :10:40.patch doing the best in terms of sunshine levels. Temperatures

:10:41. > :10:44.reaching a maximum of 11. Into Thursday, it's looking like a

:10:45. > :10:47.decent day. I think there'll be some cloud around first thing. Another

:10:48. > :10:51.mild start. Then starting to see some brighter intervals developing.

:10:52. > :10:55.Largely dry with temperatures reaching a maximum of 12. I'll leave

:10:56. > :10:59.you with the outlook as we move through the next few days, staying

:11:00. > :11:02.mild, some rain overnight tonight but that should clear as we move

:11:03. > :11:05.into the cloud but probably dry, a chance of

:11:06. > :11:09.rain on Saturday. The national picture now from Nick Miller.

:11:10. > :11:14.It looks like next week high pressure will become a player again

:11:15. > :11:19.in our weather, settling things down for some of us for a time but until

:11:20. > :11:23.then it is low-pressure, rain moving across the UK overnight but not wet

:11:24. > :11:27.all the time. Many of us at a fine day today, this was at you from West

:11:28. > :11:31.Yorkshire and Yorkshire and northern England and Northern Ireland will

:11:32. > :11:32.farewell tomorrow, after this frontal system has pushed on
