:00:11. > :00:15.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Anne Davies.

:00:16. > :00:18.Families whose homes were damaged by a dramatic water pipe explosion

:00:19. > :00:20.in Derby yesterday have been warned it could be months before

:00:21. > :00:28.And a road in Chester Green, ripped up by the blast, will also be

:00:29. > :00:40.2am yesterday and a huge fountain of water and rubble explodes.

:00:41. > :00:43.It flooded and damaged nearby homes in Mansfield Road.

:00:44. > :00:46.Most people have not been able to return them properly,

:00:47. > :00:56.She will be overseeing repairs, but will have to rent elsewhere.

:00:57. > :00:58.There are thousands of tonnes of water literally

:00:59. > :01:12.Every room is gone, furniture ruined, everything.

:01:13. > :01:22.The water surged into the reception area of a local church.

:01:23. > :01:25.This line shows how much water came in here.

:01:26. > :01:28.When I got down here, I was amazed to see the amount

:01:29. > :01:31.of water that was flooding around, all of the debris on the road

:01:32. > :01:36.and around, in some ways, it looked a bit like a war zone

:01:37. > :01:44.Severn Trent Water plan to permanently fix

:01:45. > :01:56.the pipe rather than temporarily repairing it.

:01:57. > :01:59.It could be a long time before life returns to normal

:02:00. > :02:03.Bob Stear is from Severn Trent - a little earlier, I asked him

:02:04. > :02:11.if they were any closer to figuring out what caused the burst...

:02:12. > :02:23.Firstly, I continue to apologise to the residents. It has been a

:02:24. > :02:28.traumatic event. Our focus has been to keep customers safe, to restore

:02:29. > :02:33.the supplies which we have done to the 7500 customers and behind me, we

:02:34. > :02:39.are starting to fix the main which we are halfway through. This is a

:02:40. > :02:48.dramatic water burst, we seem to have a lot of them in this region,

:02:49. > :02:52.what does it say about the system? Well, we have 46,000 kilometres of

:02:53. > :02:56.water pipes and of different conditions, we do a lot of modelling

:02:57. > :03:01.work to keep on top of the maintenance but the next few days,

:03:02. > :03:05.we will look at this area because we have had two bursts in the last few

:03:06. > :03:08.years. Can you tell when something like

:03:09. > :03:14.this will happen because it was like an explosion?

:03:15. > :03:18.If we have known, we would not have allowed it to happen. These things

:03:19. > :03:22.do go suddenly. We have to monitor the network and there was no

:03:23. > :03:26.indication. If this happens now, how likely

:03:27. > :03:33.could it happen again? As I say, in a typical area we do

:03:34. > :03:38.not get these very often, we have 8 million customers and only have a

:03:39. > :03:41.few of these incidents a year. When it happens, it causes devastation

:03:42. > :03:46.and that has been a priority, to look after the customers that have

:03:47. > :03:50.had a pretty traumatic time and we have had teams out making sure they

:03:51. > :03:50.are not out of pocket and to re-home people.

:03:51. > :03:53.Many thanks. Next tonight, up to 200

:03:54. > :03:56.people are out of a job following the sudden closure

:03:57. > :03:58.of a national apprenticeship "Positive Outcomes" ran

:03:59. > :04:01.the training courses from its headquarters in South

:04:02. > :04:04.Normanton. But last week it lost

:04:05. > :04:07.a crucial multi-million pound Our Social Affairs Correspondent,

:04:08. > :04:23.Jeremy Ball, reports. Tonight we had confirmation of 170

:04:24. > :04:28.redundancies here, positive outcomes was in the process of restructuring

:04:29. > :04:33.to sell part of the business when the skills funding agency pulled its

:04:34. > :04:36.funding. If you look at the website tonight, you can see it was one of

:04:37. > :04:40.the largest apprenticeship programmes with thousands of

:04:41. > :04:45.placements up-and-downer country in industries from property sales to

:04:46. > :04:49.hospitality to warehouses. The Department of Education says it is

:04:50. > :04:55.talking to employers so the apprenticeships can be transferred

:04:56. > :04:57.so young people training do not get disrupted. We heard from the

:04:58. > :05:02.administrators but have not spoken to anyone today because the officers

:05:03. > :05:08.have been closed on the blinds are down. The business has spoken to a

:05:09. > :05:13.trade publication where it thanks all of the staff who worked here

:05:14. > :05:18.over 20 years or so and it would not be drawn on wider skills funding

:05:19. > :05:21.agency was so concerned about finances. We have heard from a

:05:22. > :05:27.member of staff who said they found out about their job going through an

:05:28. > :05:30.e-mail last Friday and had them positive outcomes will sound like a

:05:31. > :05:33.cool -- cruel irony tonight. 37 drivers have been caught not

:05:34. > :05:36.wearing seat belts during a four day Police officers patrolled

:05:37. > :05:40.the motorway and the A1 It's part of the Fatal four

:05:41. > :05:47.campaign, which targets drink-driving, speeding,

:05:48. > :05:49.not wearing a seat belt and using A young award-winning musician has

:05:50. > :05:56.returned to his roots in Nottingham inspiring more young musicians

:05:57. > :06:00.to follow their dreams. Sheku Kanneh-Mason won the BBC's

:06:01. > :06:03.prestigious Young Musician Over the weekend he performed one

:06:04. > :06:19.more time with the Nottingham Youth Nothing can beat the experience of

:06:20. > :06:24.playing with an orchestra and meeting other young musicians. I was

:06:25. > :06:30.so inspired by the first rehearsal, the sound of the orchestra. And I

:06:31. > :06:34.have learned so much. It is inspiring because he is such a good

:06:35. > :06:35.musician. It is cool to play with him.

:06:36. > :06:37.And finally from me tonight the Leicester City supporter

:06:38. > :06:39.who suffered three heart attacks after collapsing during last week's

:06:40. > :06:42.game against Sevilla has today been able to thank the off-duty

:06:43. > :06:45.firefighter who helped save his life.

:06:46. > :06:57.An emotional reunion with the firefighter who helped

:06:58. > :07:03.to save his life after Jim Blockley became ill during the match.

:07:04. > :07:07.I went to a steward and told him I was fine.

:07:08. > :07:10.I walked along with him and we got to the halfway line

:07:11. > :07:21.Kaz Whitener, South Yorkshire firefighter

:07:22. > :07:32.I saw him and he was being held up as soon afterward,

:07:33. > :07:37.a couple of the on site medics came and started to give him CPR,

:07:38. > :07:42.something I've received a lot of training in.

:07:43. > :07:45.I was sat quite close to the end of the aisle

:07:46. > :07:54.so I managed to get quickly there and help him at the front.

:07:55. > :07:58.He died 451 minutes on three separate occasions. They told us to

:07:59. > :08:02.kissing goodbye at A If it wasn't for her,

:08:03. > :08:17.I wouldn't be here. That is what the doctor said. She

:08:18. > :08:22.was brilliant. Not just that he is alive,

:08:23. > :08:27.but that's it is sat up and talking. Leicester City football club's

:08:28. > :08:33.ambassador has been to visit with a signed shirt

:08:34. > :08:36.from all the players. It is fitting that Jim's first words

:08:37. > :08:41.were about the results. I knew I was in hospital, and I laid

:08:42. > :08:50.there and asked what the score was. As for the next Leicester City

:08:51. > :08:56.match, he says he plans to take it So, it's goodbye from me -

:08:57. > :09:17.but with your weather After a mild week last week, things

:09:18. > :09:22.are turning cooler. Temperatures dropping back down into single

:09:23. > :09:27.figures. There will be outbreaks of rain as we move to the week, low

:09:28. > :09:31.pressure so quite unsettled. Things will become more settled towards the

:09:32. > :09:39.end of the week and weekend. And improving picture. This is what was

:09:40. > :09:42.going on today, some cold air from the north-west as we move through

:09:43. > :09:48.the day and the band of rain we saw this morning was on the front edge

:09:49. > :09:52.so as we move tonight -- through tonight, a cold night, some clear

:09:53. > :09:58.spells and scattered showers, the showers could be slightly wintry on

:09:59. > :10:03.high ground forming sleet or snow. An overnight low of two or three

:10:04. > :10:08.Celsius. Some ice on untreated surfaces and a touch of frost. A

:10:09. > :10:14.cold starts tomorrow, brightness around first thing, more cloud in

:10:15. > :10:17.the afternoon, sunny spells and scattered showers which could be

:10:18. > :10:26.wintry on high ground. Temperatures struggling. It will not be feeling

:10:27. > :10:31.particularly pleasant. Wednesday, a dry start further east but a band of

:10:32. > :10:39.rain making its way slowly across as we move through the day. A few heavy

:10:40. > :10:46.bursts and temperatures not to warm, nine Celsius. We will see a breeze

:10:47. > :10:51.easing slightly. Thursday, things become increasingly settled, still

:10:52. > :10:56.cloudy, outbreaks of rain further south, temperatures reaching nine

:10:57. > :10:59.Celsius. Friday, we start to see high pressure taking charge so

:11:00. > :11:02.becoming increasingly settled. I leave you with the outlook.

:11:03. > :11:04.outlook for Saturday and Sunday is for something dry and settled, sunny

:11:05. > :11:18.spells but a bit on the cool side. This week we are starting off with a

:11:19. > :11:21.taste of winter. This is Paul and maritime air, it has come from a

:11:22. > :11:27.long way north and will push in lots of showers. The last of any mild air

:11:28. > :11:28.gets swept away with the cloud. Tonight we have showers mostly

:11:29. > :11:32.across the
