:01:21. > :01:26.Now 70, David is determined to keep working, to take his mind not only
:01:27. > :01:31.off the disease but also continue a pub tradition.

:01:35. > :01:40.Nottingham people wanted me to do it.
:01:41. > :01:43.I do it for Collecting for Rainbows charity.
:01:44. > :01:46.David has not yet reported the attack to the police.
:01:47. > :01:48.He believes his cancer has been caught early but is awaiting
:01:49. > :01:53.He's struggling to make sense of why he was targeted.

:03:23. > :03:30.It's frustrating that some fires aren't accidents
:03:31. > :03:33.Fire officers hope people will be on the lookout
:03:34. > :03:38.We stand ready to respond 24 hours a day.
:03:39. > :03:40.Clearly we can't be in two places at once.
:03:41. > :03:43.So whilst we are dealing with the deliberately ignited car
:03:44. > :03:46.or pile of rubbish or a disused building, then we're not
:03:47. > :03:49.immediately available for house fires and the like,
:03:50. > :03:55.Arson can be just pointless destruction.
:03:56. > :04:00.People also set fires to illegally claim on insurance.
:04:01. > :04:02.Since April last year, Derbyshire Fire Service had to deal
:04:03. > :04:08.There were more than 950 in Leicestershire.
:04:09. > :04:10.And in Nottinghamshire, close to 1500.

:04:14. > :04:18.The authorities are also keen for people to spot situations that
:04:19. > :04:28.As well as the potential loss of life, 60% of businesses never
:04:29. > :04:35.recover or close within three years of being deliberately set on fire.

:04:39. > :04:43.The parish church of St Mary's in Melton Mowbray closed
:04:44. > :04:48.When it re-opens later this year, one of the centre-pieces will be

:05:01. > :05:03.Derek Hunt is at work on his latest commission, a new stained-glass
:05:04. > :05:05.window he has designed force and Mary's Church in Melton.
:05:06. > :05:07.It is currently closed while a ?1.9 million
:05:08. > :05:13.renovation takes place including relaying the floor.
:05:14. > :05:15.The church currently has this plain window and Derek has created
:05:16. > :05:18.a modern design but the working method is anything but.
:05:19. > :05:20.Basically, stained-glass is a medieval process and we're
:05:21. > :05:24.making it the same way medieval craftsmen made it centuries ago.
:05:25. > :05:27.It's a system that was devised in the 12th century and it has
:05:28. > :05:37.The colour is in the glass itself and then the paint is put
:05:38. > :05:40.onto the surface of the glass and then fired in the kiln.
:05:41. > :05:43.Those behind the church's restoration are delighted
:05:44. > :05:45.with the way the new window is shaping up.
:05:46. > :05:58.It is in memory of John Plumb, who left money for the refurbishment.
:05:59. > :06:06.the benefactor wanted us to update to the history of Melton Mowbray, so
:06:07. > :06:10.we have Jerusalem here. You have a fox, relating to fox hunting and
:06:11. > :06:13.Stilton cheese and pork pie. You have the bird, that is lower down
:06:14. > :06:18.with a paintbrush, indicating painting the town red, which comes
:06:19. > :06:20.from Melton Mowbray. Derek and the congregation
:06:21. > :06:22.at Saint Mary's are looking forward to the church and the new window
