:00:36. > :00:37.of Samantha Baldwin in Nottingham city centre.
:00:38. > :00:39.Initially a missing persons appeal, it became an abduction
:00:40. > :00:41.investigation on Wednesday, when it was revealed the Newark mum
:00:42. > :00:44.didn't have custody of her young sons Dylan and Louis.
:00:45. > :00:47.We now know they were removed from her care on Monday
:00:48. > :00:52.Ports and airports were put on alert as the investigation widened,
:00:53. > :00:54.and, yesterday, officers began house-to-house enquiries in Newark
:00:55. > :00:57.to build up a picture of Samantha's last known movements.
:00:58. > :01:05.Well, earlier, I spoke to the superintendent leading
:01:06. > :01:06.the investigation, and asked what the scale
:01:07. > :01:12.We have over 100 officers from the East Midlands region out
:01:13. > :01:14.there in the search for Samantha and the boys, following up
:01:15. > :01:17.lines of enquiry, sightings, and they are the length and breadth
:01:18. > :01:21.And again, I want to urge this appeal on a national basis.
:01:22. > :01:31.And we need people to, if they see anybody that they think
:01:32. > :01:33.fits that description, if you have to have adouble-take,
:01:34. > :01:35.fits that description, if you have to have a double-take,
:01:36. > :01:39.if you have to look twice, check the photos and let us know
:01:40. > :01:42.I'm increasingly concerned for the welfare those two boys
:01:43. > :01:45.and I want them back safe and well as quickly as possible.
:01:46. > :01:46.And you said there have been sightings.
:01:47. > :01:49.You've been appealing directly to Samantha to make contact.
:01:50. > :01:52.Is there a risk she's left the country with the boys?
:01:53. > :01:54.Whilst there is no indication that Samantha has left
:01:55. > :01:57.the country with the two boys, again it's something
:01:58. > :01:59.that we cannot rule out. I won't rule anything out.
:02:00. > :02:02.We will put whatever resources we need to to continue the search
:02:03. > :02:08.to find those two boys and get them back safely.
:02:09. > :02:11.Wherever they are, they have been evading you for this time.

:02:47. > :02:49.It came after a collision on a bridge saw them plummet
:02:50. > :02:53.Billy Miller was on his way home from work at the time,
:02:54. > :02:57.when he saw the car go over the side of the bridge in Swarkestone.
:02:58. > :03:03.Our reporter Navtej Johal has been to meet him.
:03:04. > :03:07.So I caught the brick and managed to smash the glass.
:03:08. > :03:10.As I got in towards the car, I managed to get her underneath
:03:11. > :03:12.her arms and lift her out through the side of...
:03:13. > :03:16.I noticed there was another man facing down
:03:17. > :03:21.So I lifted the lady out and I managed to help
:03:22. > :03:23.with the man as well from underneath
:03:24. > :03:31.The dramatic story of how this 42-year-old carpenter helped

:03:34. > :03:37.which saw a car and pedestrian fall into the water.

:03:44. > :03:49.Why did you think that is? I don't know.
:03:50. > :03:52.The only thing I can say is that I didn't really think
:03:53. > :03:56.By the time I even thought about what I was doing,
:03:57. > :04:03.Your actions made our job ten times easier.
:04:04. > :04:05.And today, his actions were recognised by
:04:06. > :04:11.People don't usually jump into a canal and rescue two people,
:04:12. > :04:18.I've been in the ambulance service about 15 years and I can probably
:04:19. > :04:21.pick out in one hand the amount of times that I've seen people
:04:22. > :04:23.doing Billy's actions, so, yeah, it's quite rare.
:04:24. > :04:26.Billy's actions were admirable and they're very much appreciated,
:04:27. > :04:28.but you need to look after yourself as well at the scenes.
:04:29. > :04:32.What do you make of all this fuss? I feel a bit silly.
:04:33. > :04:34.Do you really? Yeah, I think it's...
:04:35. > :04:38.Yeah, it was just one of them things.
:04:39. > :04:41.I was the person that was in the place at the time
:04:42. > :04:44.to be able to do that, that was all it was.
:04:45. > :04:45.The pedestrian remains in hospital while
:04:46. > :04:48.the elderly woman was discharged after suffering minor injuries.
:04:49. > :04:51.Billy says his thoughts are with them.
