:00:20. > :00:20.but was spared jail, is behind bars tonight.

:00:21. > :00:22.Mustafa Bashir was given a suspended sentence -

:00:23. > :00:24.after a judge was told he'd been offered a professional contract by

:00:25. > :00:28.But the contract never existed and today that same

:00:29. > :00:40.Mustafa Bashir arrived at court today knowing he had some explaining

:00:41. > :00:43.Last month, he narrowly avoided jail when he admitted

:00:44. > :00:45.attacking his former wife with a cricket bat

:00:46. > :00:52.The judge suspended an 18 month prison sentence partly because

:00:53. > :00:56.he had been told Bashir was about to sign a contract with

:00:57. > :01:00.The club then revealed they had never heard of Bashir,

:01:01. > :01:11.And so, today, the 33-year-old was ordered back before

:01:12. > :01:15.Today, Bashir was represented in court by a new barrister who said

:01:16. > :01:18.his client hadn't intended to mislead anyone and there had been

:01:19. > :01:20.Well, Judge Richard Mansell was having

:01:21. > :01:25.He said there had been no series of misunderstandings and

:01:26. > :01:28.said, I was fundamentally misled by you as to your personal

:01:29. > :01:31.He said he had no hesitation in now imposing an

:01:32. > :01:34.immediate prison term, something which he said he would have done

:01:35. > :01:39.originally, had he been aware of the true position.

:01:40. > :01:50.In a statement, Leicestershire said...

:01:51. > :01:51.Meanwhile, Judge Mansell addressed criticisms

:01:52. > :01:53.made of him over his original sentencing remarks.

:01:54. > :01:56.particularly vulnerable, due to her circumstances.

:01:57. > :01:58.Today, he said he wanted to make it clear, he had

:01:59. > :02:00.always considered her to be vulnerable, but sentencing

:02:01. > :02:02.guidelines set out clearly different levels of vulnerability, which

:02:03. > :02:04.judges have to take into consideration when sentencing.

:02:05. > :02:07.Through the police, Bashir's victim said she was satisfied with

:02:08. > :02:20.Bashir, meantime, may now be investigated for the separate

:02:21. > :02:21.offence of perverting the course of justice.

:02:52. > :02:54.Ultimately, it will be members to make that decision, but

:02:55. > :02:57.we, of course, cannot rule out taking strike action to support this

:02:58. > :03:00.office being kept open and to support this community.

:03:01. > :03:03.11 people have been jailed for a combined total of over 42

:03:04. > :03:05.years for their part in an insurance scam where they deliberately

:03:06. > :03:07.caused dozens of car crashes across Derbyshire.

:03:08. > :03:09.The gang, mostly from the East Midlands,

:03:10. > :03:11.targeted older or lone female drivers and made claims

:03:12. > :03:13.using false identities and through fraudulent companies.

:03:14. > :03:20.The judge said the victims have been harmed emotionally and physically.

:03:21. > :03:23.It was a load of blood, sweat and tears over

:03:24. > :03:25.the three and a half years of the investigation.

:03:26. > :03:29.It was like trying to boot a jigsaw together and identify all

:03:30. > :03:31.the different angles and aspects of the fraud.

:03:32. > :03:33.The sentence provided today by the court will hopefully

:03:34. > :03:36.send out a message that this type of offence will be taken seriously,

:03:37. > :03:42.investigated thoroughly and will not be tolerated.

:03:43. > :03:45.A group of shopkeepers in a conservation area of Leicester

:03:46. > :03:47.are demanding restrictions are eased so they can better protect

:03:48. > :03:49.their properties.Five businesses were either vandalised or burgled

:03:50. > :03:53.It's the fourth time in two years shops have been targetted.

:03:54. > :04:01.The City Council says it will meet owners to discuss their concerns.

:04:02. > :04:04.Together with the other shop owners in this

:04:05. > :04:06.area, we want to protect our property, we want the council, we

:04:07. > :04:09.want the city centre director to listen to us

:04:10. > :04:11.and allow us to protect our property with shutters.

:04:12. > :04:13.Never mind the issue we've got with preservation, what about my

:04:14. > :04:26.Organisers of Leicestershire's Download Festival are spending half

:04:27. > :04:28.a million pounds improving the site after weather and travel

:04:29. > :04:31.Tens of thousands of rock fans were left drenched

:04:32. > :04:34.They also struggled to leave Donington Park

:04:35. > :04:44.Torrential downpours making Download in 2016 the wettest on record.

:04:45. > :04:46.Festivalgoers were forced to trudge through inches of mud and

:04:47. > :04:57.torrents of water surrounding their tents.

:04:58. > :05:00.More than four inches of rain fell across the 650 acre Donington

:05:01. > :05:02.Park site last year in just 45 minutes.

:05:03. > :05:05.And that's enough to fill more than 100 Olympic sized swimming

:05:06. > :05:08.Now, organisers here want to make sure they are ready if the

:05:09. > :05:11.heavy rain again threatens to swamp the heavy metal.

:05:12. > :05:13.They are using this heavy metal to build 3,000 metres of

:05:14. > :05:15.new drains, quadruple what's already here,

:05:16. > :05:17.to help with if what they call Biblical rain comes again.

:05:18. > :05:20.We had 17 million gallons of rain come down in that 45 minutes.

:05:21. > :05:23.That would be a challenge to anybody that wasn't expecting it and we

:05:24. > :05:27.So, we've really put the new drains in and

:05:28. > :05:29.the ditches to drain it all away and tried to respond

:05:30. > :05:44.And another major problem last year, the closure of the nearby M1

:05:45. > :05:47.after an unconnected motorway protest, just as thousands tried to

:05:48. > :05:50.Now, there will be four more entrances and exits and

:05:51. > :05:59.hundreds of helpers to react to road and site conditions.
