:00:38. > :00:41.but it can also be difficult for those living with very little.

:00:42. > :00:43.Now, a project in Nottinghamshire's hoping to build a network

:00:44. > :00:45.of fresh food banks, which will educate young

:00:46. > :00:47.people about how they can help those in need.

:00:48. > :00:55.In the very cold garden at Edwalton Primary School,

:00:56. > :00:59.pupils are working hard on the fruits of their labour.

:01:00. > :01:10.We come and grow plants, and vegetables.

:01:11. > :01:13.We harvest them, and send them to the drop-in centre

:01:14. > :01:17.The Food Share Project trains young people to grow food and share

:01:18. > :01:21.The trouble is that with most traditional food banks

:01:22. > :01:23.you don't get fresh food, so Food Share was set up

:01:24. > :01:26.to really address that gap, and at the same time to enable

:01:27. > :01:28.children to really learn and understand about really

:01:29. > :01:34.It's really important that they know that not everyone can

:01:35. > :01:37.just nip to Asda and get whatever they want to eat.

:01:38. > :01:40.The only good meal that they'll get is what they've been donated.

:01:58. > :02:00.It feels really nice because I know that I'm giving

:02:01. > :02:03.The project's already spread to other schools,

:02:04. > :02:06.and with the help of crowdfunding, it's hoped the scheme will grow

:02:07. > :02:16.Next tonight, open air swimming may not be YOUR cup

:02:17. > :02:18.of tea on New Year's Day, but it's clearly

:02:19. > :02:24.Almost 300 people - twice as many as last year -

:02:25. > :02:26.took part in the annual dip at an outdoor pool

:02:27. > :02:35.James Roberson went to meet some of those brave enough to take part!

:02:36. > :02:38.You need to plunge in if you're intending to swim at the Lido

:02:39. > :02:47.For some people, the 10 degree water temperature was still too cold,

:02:48. > :02:49.despite it being three times warmer than the air.

:02:50. > :02:52.This is the fourth year the parish council's opened the pool

:02:53. > :02:54.on January the 1st - and it is clearly a hit.

:02:55. > :02:57.I can't quite believe how many people we've had

:02:58. > :03:01.I mean, last year we had 150, and we'd already had 80

:03:02. > :03:05.Abd if you think that your intrepid reporter is crazy enough to get

:03:06. > :03:07.in there with them - I'm sorry, but I'm not

:03:08. > :03:12.It wasn't my idea, it seems ridiculous now.

:03:13. > :03:16.My sister wanted to do it, so I kind of just came with her.

:03:17. > :03:20.a New Year, new you - "Get in one end of the water,

:03:21. > :03:22.come out a new man", she said, but...

:03:23. > :03:25.There's some crazy people in bikinis there.

:03:26. > :03:33.You only come for a small amount of time, so I thought it would be

:03:34. > :03:37.a great start to the New Year and I persuaded my friend to come

:03:38. > :03:39.in as well, but she did two lengths and got out.

:03:40. > :03:42.With warming beverages on hand, this year's swim attracted 284 people,

:03:43. > :03:44.twice last year's total, and they hope to beat

:03:45. > :03:50.In sport, the Leicester Tigers played Saracens at Welford Road

:03:51. > :03:54.in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

:03:55. > :03:57.But it was one to forget for the Tigers, I'm afraid.

:03:58. > :04:01.It finished Leicester Tigers 12, Saracens 16.

:04:02. > :04:06.Time for a look at the weather now, here's Alex with tonight's forecast.

:04:07. > :04:08.Good evening, and a Happy New Year to you.

:04:09. > :04:11.Well, after all the wet weather that we saw earlier on today we do

:04:12. > :04:14.have some more settled weather on the horizon, thanks to this area

:04:15. > :04:16.of high pressure that's starting to build in.

:04:17. > :04:19.As we have a look at the detail overnight tonight we've still got

:04:20. > :04:22.just a few showers in places, but mostly dry as we go

:04:23. > :04:25.into the early hours; the chance of those being a little wintry over

:04:26. > :04:31.higher ground, with lows of 1 degree Celsius.

:04:32. > :04:33.So we're expecting a frosty start tomorrow morning.

:04:34. > :04:35.Variable amounts of cloud throughout the day but some decent

:04:36. > :04:38.bright and sunny spells, but if you are out and

:04:39. > :04:41.about do wrap up warm - we're only expecting highs of around

:04:42. > :04:45.I'll leave you with the outlook - a couple more days of bright

:04:46. > :04:49.That's all from the late team, we're back tomorrow lunchtime

:05:20. > :05:23.clearing from the south-east. These specks of white as snow mixed in

:05:24. > :05:26.with showers across parts of northern England, particularly

:05:27. > :05:32.across Scotland, low levels here. I say that they hazard in northern and

:05:33. > :05:36.eastern areas. I would not rule out slippery areas almost anywhere by

:05:37. > :05:40.the morning, by which time temperatures will be close to or

:05:41. > :05:44.below freezing in many places. A bright and sunny start, but still

:05:45. > :05:48.wintry showers, sliding down the North Sea coast. Some snow down at

:05:49. > :05:51.quite low levels to the north of Scotland. Here, the snow will turn
