:01:33. > :01:35.Simon Elmore was 33 when he was taken seriously ill,

:01:36. > :01:40.But, following a kidney transplant, he's been well

:01:41. > :01:43.enough to win Gold medals at the World Transplant Games.

:01:44. > :01:47.Today, in Derbyshire, he told Jo Healey it was time for payback.

:01:48. > :01:51.If he tells you his story, he'll admit he was in a very,

:01:52. > :01:53.very dark place and possibly feeling suicidal - I think

:01:54. > :01:58.That's because, eight years ago, his kidneys failed.

:01:59. > :02:04.Then, two years ago, Simon had a kidney transplant.

:02:05. > :02:09.I was on dialysis at Derby, got a phone call

:02:10. > :02:14.at ten o'clock and it was, "Simon, we've got a kidney for you."

:02:15. > :02:15.And the first thing that went through my

:02:16. > :02:18.head was, "I'm going to the World Transplant Games in seven months,

:02:19. > :02:24.And that's exactly what he did - not just one but several medals.

:02:25. > :02:27.And today he began a seven-day 100 mile

:02:28. > :02:30.trek through Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, which he hopes

:02:31. > :02:35.A good thing for a good cause, basically, isn't it?

:02:36. > :02:38.I think it's a really big challenge, and I think he's going to

:02:39. > :02:44.Two years ago I had a car crash, so that's put me in a wheelchair.

:02:45. > :02:47.So I really respect what Simon is doing - it's good.

:02:48. > :02:50.We need a lot of people today because more people are on the

:02:51. > :02:54.So certainly it is a cry out for people to donate.

:02:55. > :02:56.He couldn't walk 50 yards to the coffee

:02:57. > :03:00.And now, you know - well, he can go 100 miles,

:03:01. > :03:03.It would be a great accomplishment, if nothing else.

:03:04. > :03:09.Among his biggest supporters, the mayor of his hometown.

:03:10. > :03:12.If we do this for seven days and we save one life, or we give

:03:13. > :03:15.quality-of-life to one person, then you've all done something

:03:16. > :03:22.There's anger after vandals struck at a Nottinghamshire

:03:23. > :03:24.recreation ground, destroying a number of trees.

:03:25. > :03:27.People using the Dovecote Lane park in Beeston discovered

:03:28. > :03:30.the row of trees snapped in two this weekend.

:03:31. > :03:32.Efforts have recently been underway to try to improve

:03:33. > :03:38.A series of workshops has been set up to try to help mums and dads get

:03:39. > :03:41.They're part of everyday life for most children,

:03:42. > :03:44.but organisers say the Nottingham programme's one of the first

:03:45. > :03:49.Getting to grips with the game Minecraft.

:03:50. > :03:53.This is normally a teaching room for children, but for the

:03:54. > :03:56.first time the National Video Game Arcade in Nottingham is

:03:57. > :04:03.You can place a block by pressing the right mouse button.

:04:04. > :04:04.With families making up 70% of their visitors,

:04:05. > :04:07.staff discovered many parents were struggling to

:04:08. > :04:11.One of the problems of being a parent in

:04:12. > :04:14.2017 is that you are often on the back foot with the technology

:04:15. > :04:18.that your kids are bringing into the home all the time.

:04:19. > :04:20.And you are not used that, as a parent.

:04:21. > :04:23.So one of the things we want do, and that we have

:04:24. > :04:25.been asked for, is to kind of show parents that

:04:26. > :04:28.there's a whole spectrum, a whole diet of video games

:04:29. > :04:31.For those coming along, the reasons range from

:04:32. > :04:34.wanting to learn how to play to fears over security.

:04:35. > :04:37.It can be very much an educational tool to use, and

:04:38. > :04:41.if I don't understand it I'm not really going to be able to show him

:04:42. > :04:46.I should be able to sit down and play with my children.

:04:47. > :04:48.It's useful to be able to ask all those questions that

:04:49. > :04:52.sometimes, when I ask, they fly through, and I can do it at my own

:04:53. > :04:56.Staff here are hoping the free sessions will allay parents'

:04:57. > :05:04.worries and open up the positive benefits of gaming.

:05:34. > :05:36.Some brightness first thing as well, particularly once we start

:05:37. > :05:38.to shift those early-morning mist and fog patches.

:05:41. > :05:44.coming in our direction, with highs of seven Celsius.

:05:45. > :05:46.Temperatures are turning noticeably milder though, as
