0:00:20 > 0:00:23a British superbike rider has died after a crash during

0:00:23 > 0:00:25a race at Donington Park.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29Friends of Mick Whalley, from Kent, have paid tribute to the him, and -

0:00:29 > 0:00:30as Jo Healey reports - an investigation into

0:00:30 > 0:00:34the cause is underway.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Mick Whalley, who's in his early 40s, was competing ahead of

0:00:36 > 0:00:41the British Superbike Championships when the crash happened.

0:00:41 > 0:00:42Just completely devastating.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Mick was such a big hearted guy.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47A big loss of a life.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50If he wasn't at work he was out and about doing

0:00:50 > 0:00:53something fun and exciting, and just to hear that he is gone, it

0:00:53 > 0:00:55is just so shocking for everybody.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00it was a seven-bike crash.

0:01:00 > 0:01:04The race was stopped immediately.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Mr Whalley and other riders who were injured were treated

0:01:07 > 0:01:10track-side by the BSB medical team.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13He died later at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

0:01:13 > 0:01:14Leicestershire Police, along with staff here

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board, are

0:01:16 > 0:01:21investigating what happened.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23He has always been, well, what they would call

0:01:23 > 0:01:26a petrolhead I guess.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28It has always been motor bikes.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31More recently he has got into the track racing.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35And at the track today, a minute's silence from the crowd

0:01:35 > 0:01:44for the keen biker and father of two teenage boys.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Up to a dozen cars and several buildings have been destroyed

0:01:47 > 0:01:49in a fire in Leicester.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Firefighters were called to an industrial estate

0:01:51 > 0:01:53on Sunningdale Road in the early hours of this morning.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55It's thought the fire spread from the buildings

0:03:26 > 0:03:29might be using objects just to meet that range of needs

0:04:40 > 0:04:43and elsewhere for over 50 years, so of course we have a huge

0:04:45 > 0:04:46to take advantage of.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49We want to grow this so that it is not just

0:04:49 > 0:04:51all about world-class research, which we are of course very proud

0:04:51 > 0:04:55about, but we want to turn it into a real innovation hub.
