:00:14. > :00:15.Good evening, I'm Asad Ahmad. for the news where you are.

:00:16. > :00:17.As you will have heard, rail fares have gone up today,

:00:18. > :00:20.at a time when strikes, delays and cancellations have

:00:21. > :00:25.blighted the lives of hundreds of thousands of commuters

:00:26. > :00:31.It's why some passengers are planning to make

:00:32. > :00:34.sure their opinions about the fare rises are heard loud and clear.

:00:35. > :00:39.New Year, new rail prices for Londoners.

:00:40. > :00:42.And for hundreds of thousands of commuters the only way is up

:00:43. > :00:51.when it comes to the gust of their journey.

:00:52. > :00:54.Many had hoped they would be included in Sadiq Khan's

:00:55. > :00:58.This is what the mayor said on his campaign Trail.

:00:59. > :01:00.I've got a fully-funded package to freeze fares over

:01:01. > :01:03.So, Londoners pay not a penny more in 2020.

:01:04. > :01:06.But it emerged the mayor can only set fares, not Travelcards or caps.

:01:07. > :01:09.He says his pledge only ever referred to TFL prices,

:01:10. > :01:15.If he is saying that he is going to promise to do this,

:01:16. > :01:19.Always delays, always cancelled trains.

:01:20. > :01:27.He should stick to his promise of freezing all the fares to 2020.

:01:28. > :01:36.Because they've kind of privatised it, but don't, yeah,

:01:37. > :01:39.make it better or make it more, make the trains better or make

:01:40. > :01:43.Tomorrow morning, some will be protesting at London stations.

:01:44. > :01:45.There's still no end it seems to these disruptions,

:01:46. > :01:47.we have no guarantee that there will be no more

:01:48. > :02:02.So, passengers need to come together and work with us to lobby

:02:03. > :02:05.Fares won't change for those commuters making tube

:02:06. > :02:10.How that will be funded is another point of political contention.

:02:11. > :02:16.To Ms Riding back to Euston station after the holidays and there is some

:02:17. > :02:23.anger about this. Sadiq Khan will be out and about. Not only will he be

:02:24. > :02:26.defending his pledge, you will also be appealing for more control for T

:02:27. > :02:33.F L over these trains. Well, the increasing frustration

:02:34. > :02:35.of the London commute is affecting drivers too and at least one has

:02:36. > :02:38.decided to take action about the delays over

:02:39. > :02:40.the Dartford Crossing. Anand Surve from Orpington has

:02:41. > :02:42.started a petition calling on the Government to pay

:02:43. > :02:46.compensation to drivers Thomas Magill caught up

:02:47. > :02:52.with him, behind the wheel. Rush-hour at the Dartford Crossing,

:02:53. > :02:56.and queues like this one is a familiar sight for those

:02:57. > :03:00.who use it regularly. People like Anand,

:03:01. > :03:02.who commutes from Orpington And for him, what's more frustrating

:03:03. > :03:08.than sitting in traffic is the fact he has to pay for the pleasure,

:03:09. > :03:10.a situation he's decided These delays are unacceptable and

:03:11. > :03:16.they're getting worse day by day. Therefore, I've launched this

:03:17. > :03:20.petition, calling for drivers to be compensated in the event

:03:21. > :03:23.of long traffic delays. Anand's petition is calling

:03:24. > :03:25.on Highways England to compensate And if he manages to get 100,000

:03:26. > :03:33.signatures, then the idea will be But one motoring organisation has

:03:34. > :03:40.concerns about the proposal. You can never really be completely

:03:41. > :03:42.sure who is to blame It could be on a Highways

:03:43. > :03:48.England-managed stretch of road, or it could be on the crossing

:03:49. > :03:51.itself, or it could just be that So it's very difficult to be

:03:52. > :03:55.able to pin the blame. In practice, it might be a little

:03:56. > :03:59.bit more difficult to operate. In a statement,

:04:00. > :04:18.Highways England says... And whether things change

:04:19. > :04:22.in the future, well, that he hopes will depend

:04:23. > :04:25.on the success of his petition. There's been a large fire

:04:26. > :04:34.at a recycling centre in west London, which sent thick smoke

:04:35. > :04:37.billowing across the M4 motorway. About 80 firefighters were sent

:04:38. > :04:40.to Transport Avenue in Brentford this afternoon after dozens of calls

:04:41. > :04:42.were received from concerned Young people living in temporary

:04:43. > :04:50.accommodation, are being given the chance to break the cycle

:04:51. > :04:54.of homelessness through gaining work experience, new skills

:04:55. > :04:56.and most importantly, help towards paying

:04:57. > :05:00.for a deposit for a flat. Tiffany Sweeney has been

:05:01. > :05:10.to Clerkenwell, to find out more. Here at Printworks Kitchen,

:05:11. > :05:16.a pop-up restaurant has been set up, staffed by young people living

:05:17. > :05:18.in temporary accommodation. They cook and serve the food,

:05:19. > :05:22.and all the money goes into a trust fund that can only be used

:05:23. > :05:25.for a rental deposit. We noticed that it was sort

:05:26. > :05:33.of near impossible for people living in temporary accommodation to really

:05:34. > :05:37.build a deposit to move out. The aim of the scheme is to help

:05:38. > :05:40.25 young people a year After just 20 shifts here,

:05:41. > :05:43.they could have enough money saved to afford to live in their own home

:05:44. > :05:52.and be cooking in their own kitchen. Emmanuel came to the UK in 2009 but,

:05:53. > :05:55.after living with his mum, he soon found himself

:05:56. > :05:57.on the streets. I came here because I wanted to pay

:05:58. > :06:00.a full board and my mum I was very upset and she ended up

:06:01. > :06:10.shouting at me and stuff like that. I don't know the country

:06:11. > :06:13.and I don't know where to go. Like if something happened to me,

:06:14. > :06:20.I was very, very scared. There's loads of places you can go

:06:21. > :06:24.out to eat and drink and not all of them are doing great things

:06:25. > :06:26.to improve the society Whereas Fat Macy's, not only

:06:27. > :06:32.are you getting a great experience, but you're also contributing

:06:33. > :06:33.to something good. At the moment, this is just

:06:34. > :06:36.a pop-up, but the long-term aim is to have a permanent base

:06:37. > :06:39.and to help more young It has been a beautiful day

:06:40. > :06:48.across the London area today. Not that the sunshine

:06:49. > :06:51.helps the feel of things, This was the scene this morning,

:06:52. > :07:01.we had a frost across London. It will be more severe

:07:02. > :07:03.into tomorrow morning and for the rest of the week,

:07:04. > :07:06.dry with often quite a bit of bright weather around

:07:07. > :07:09.and certainly it will feel cold as it is at the moment was certainly

:07:10. > :07:12.through the to night, you can see the blues right

:07:13. > :07:14.across the map. We are going to have a frost

:07:15. > :07:16.widespread across London, even in central London seeing

:07:17. > :07:18.lows below freezing. Minus two, minus three degrees

:07:19. > :07:20.out toward the suburbs. That means we do have a Met Office

:07:21. > :07:23.weather warning in force for tomorrow morning

:07:24. > :07:28.until mid-morning for the risk As we go through the day,

:07:29. > :07:34.we have got some cloud just moving That does not mean it is not

:07:35. > :07:41.quite as bright as today, temperatures up a little bit at five

:07:42. > :07:44.to seven Celsius. Often bright as we go

:07:45. > :07:47.through the week. Another frost as we head

:07:48. > :08:12.into Thursday morning Good evening. It has been turning

:08:13. > :08:17.colder and clearer and our weather watchers have been capturing the

:08:18. > :08:21.sunshine. Here is the scene in Derbyshire and where we have had the

:08:22. > :08:25.clear skies by day, we are in for a cold night tonight. Temperatures

:08:26. > :08:30.already plummeting, particularly towards the south with some icy

:08:31. > :08:33.stretches across parts of central and southern England, and into

:08:34. > :08:38.Wales. For the north-west, not as cold, as we have the cloud building.

:08:39. > :08:43.But to the south we could see temperatures down to minus four or

:08:44. > :08:47.five first thing Tuesday morning. If you have a commute back to work,

:08:48. > :08:52.bear in mind you will have to scrape the car and there could be the odd

:08:53. > :08:58.patch of mist and freezing fog. But many of us staying dry. More cloud

:08:59. > :09:00.in the north and west. Some rain for the north-west of Scotland. For

:09:01. > :09:01.eastern
