:00:00. > :00:20.BBC London has learned that we could be just weeks away

:00:21. > :00:24.from a "unique" fix to deal with two of London's major problems.

:00:25. > :00:26.A radical plan is being discussed which could allow our hospitals

:00:27. > :00:31.to sell off areas of extra land they own - and be allowed

:00:32. > :00:37.At the same time, the land could be used to build more homes.

:00:38. > :00:44.The great and the good of London politics, in a room,

:00:45. > :00:46.talking about more powers and more money for the capital,

:00:47. > :00:53.The only way we'll make progress in this agenda in the years

:00:54. > :01:00.ahead is if London speaks with one united voice.

:01:01. > :01:06.Sadiq Khan wants more of the tax London raises kept here.

:01:07. > :01:08.Everything from stamp duty and a new tourist tax.

:01:09. > :01:12.It's a wish list, but BBC London has learned there is a more

:01:13. > :01:18.Crucially, top officials here at the Treasury are involved.

:01:19. > :01:20.As are top officials at the Department of Health

:01:21. > :01:24.It's a deal that means that London's hospitals,

:01:25. > :01:26.unlike those around the country, will be able to keep

:01:27. > :01:31.the money they get from selling off spare land.

:01:32. > :01:34.So instead of handing the money back to the Treasury

:01:35. > :01:36.as they do at the moment, hospitals will be able to use

:01:37. > :01:38.the money to reinvest in local health services.

:01:39. > :01:41.The land could then be used, in conjunction with the mayor,

:01:42. > :01:44.to build affordable housing for key workers.

:01:45. > :01:47.It's hoped the deal will oversee the process of selling

:01:48. > :01:54.It'll be a very significant change, because the estate of hospitals

:01:55. > :01:57.in London is worth massively more than in any other

:01:58. > :02:03.It would be an opportunity for using the land values that

:02:04. > :02:06.are often used in London in the private sector for direct

:02:07. > :02:10.public sector reinvestment, either in hospital buildings

:02:11. > :02:14.or potentially in hospital services under stress.

:02:15. > :02:17.It's understood the deal should be finalised within weeks

:02:18. > :02:29.The mayor is not prepared to give much away today, however.

:02:30. > :02:35.I'm not in the business of giving running commentaries.

:02:36. > :02:38.What I will say is this, I have been impressed

:02:39. > :02:40.by the conversations I've had with central Government about them

:02:41. > :02:42.recognising that this isn't about party politics.

:02:43. > :02:45.It's about recognising that when decisions are made at the coal

:02:46. > :02:49.Does this give you some hope that you will get further powers

:02:50. > :02:59.And politicians are normally optimistic if they know there's

:03:00. > :03:05.An England fan from west London has been sentenced

:03:06. > :03:07.to ten years in prison - for pushing another man onto

:03:08. > :03:12.32-year-old Christopher Cole admitted "attempting to cause

:03:13. > :03:18.The victim was badly bruised but managed to leap out of the way

:03:19. > :03:24.So President Donald Trump is coming to London to meet the Queen.

:03:25. > :03:26.We're not sure yet if he'll also visit what he calls

:03:27. > :03:30."London's no-go areas" - which he says our police

:03:31. > :03:37.But today, one of his closest advisors - a preacher -

:03:38. > :03:47.was in town, and Alice Bhandhukravi met him, and quizzed him.

:03:48. > :04:01.I invite everyone of you to help me elect the next president of the

:04:02. > :04:12.United States of America! Donald J Trump! Trump, Trump... The rallying

:04:13. > :04:18.cry which in the end succeeded. But here in London Pastor Mark Burns

:04:19. > :04:19.says he's surprised and saddened by the unpopularity of his new

:04:20. > :04:21.president. He is not as he has been

:04:22. > :04:23.portrayed in the media. What about Muslim Londoners who may

:04:24. > :04:25.be concerned about going to America? Because, if your president had his

:04:26. > :04:28.way, they might not be allowed? The president has not

:04:29. > :04:32.waged war against Islam. He has suggested that Muslims

:04:33. > :04:34.are banned from entering This is the media taking bits

:04:35. > :04:41.and pieces of what it is he said and creating the false narrative

:04:42. > :04:45.that isn't true. The president has made it clear,

:04:46. > :04:48.he has done nothing other than President Jimmy Carter did,

:04:49. > :04:52.by proposing a temporary ban against territories

:04:53. > :05:08.that are supporting The UK is not supporting or

:05:09. > :05:14.harbouring any terrorists that are out to do harm to you, or the United

:05:15. > :05:19.States of America, so obviously the Muslims in this country don't have

:05:20. > :05:24.anything to worry about. But Mr Trump didn't say that. He didn't

:05:25. > :05:28.say, except for the good guys. He said, I will consider banning

:05:29. > :05:32.Muslims from entering the United States, and there was no nuance in

:05:33. > :05:35.that. Isn't that the problem with Donald Trump? I agree that once

:05:36. > :05:38.again Donald Trump has made it very clear he is not the polished

:05:39. > :05:44.politician, he's learning. Donald Trump said something

:05:45. > :05:46.which upset many Londoners, he said there were many areas

:05:47. > :05:49.in London that were no-go areas, I have not seen those

:05:50. > :06:00.areas, but have only seen If you say it isn't true,

:06:01. > :06:18.being a Londoner, I would Do you believe that Donald Trump is

:06:19. > :06:21.just misunderstood? He's truly misunderstood and I don't have

:06:22. > :06:24.anything to gain by saying that. Like most people, only knowing

:06:25. > :06:36.Donald Trump through the lenses of the media, not his is -- not him as

:06:37. > :06:43.a person. Now the weather. Quite a tranquil view. Things are

:06:44. > :06:46.quite mild, as we started off the day it was a cold, frosty start but

:06:47. > :06:49.those temperatures have been rising through the day, and through the

:06:50. > :06:53.rest of this evening and overnight we are seeing a lot of cloud around.

:06:54. > :06:57.That cloud bringing drizzly outbreaks of rain, but for most of

:06:58. > :07:00.those it set to be frost free first thing on Saturday. Through the day

:07:01. > :07:04.on Saturday the morning showers should clear away and it will feel

:07:05. > :07:09.much milder compared to the bitterly cold weather we have seen recently.

:07:10. > :07:12.You are likely to wake up to great conditions with outbreaks of rain.

:07:13. > :07:17.By the afternoon a reappearance of some sunshine, 8-9 . It will turn

:07:18. > :07:21.chilly through into the early hours of Sunday. Perhaps a touch of frost

:07:22. > :07:24.first thing Sunday. Through the day we are likely to see things turning

:07:25. > :07:29.pretty wet. Eventually the weather front should push away during the

:07:30. > :07:30.course of Monday. I'll leave you with an outlook and pursue to my

:07:31. > :07:45.colleague. Good evening. Not many would argue

:07:46. > :07:49.that January hasn't been dry, but today, many of us had our first

:07:50. > :07:54.significant rain for some time, because the transition is on from

:07:55. > :07:59.cold, Continental dry air to milder Atlantic air, but the transition is

:08:00. > :08:01.a slow one. So we have had ice today, and freezing fog,
