:00:11. > :00:15.The leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, says there'll be

:00:16. > :00:18.a new investigation into the former Mayor, Ken Livingstone,

:00:19. > :00:20.over his comments he has repeated about Hitler and Zionism.

:00:21. > :00:23.Last night, he was suspended from the party for another year.

:00:24. > :00:27.Tonight, on this programme, Mr Livingstone said he had been

:00:28. > :00:32.grossly misrepresented and accused some Labour MP's of "tweeting lies."

:00:33. > :00:43.The moment Ken Livingstone linked Hitler with Zionism

:00:44. > :00:52.Remember when Hitler won his election in 1932 his policy

:00:53. > :00:55.then was that Jews should be moved to Israel, he was supporting

:00:56. > :00:59.He was later suspended from the Labour Party

:01:00. > :01:05.Yesterday, an internal Labour Party hearing concluded he had broken

:01:06. > :01:08.party rules and was suspended for another year.

:01:09. > :01:11.A decision that didn't go far enough for this Labour MP for Hampstead

:01:12. > :01:17.and Kilburn who represents more than 8,000 Jewish people.

:01:18. > :01:19.Ken Livingstone has repeatedly been insulting the Jewish

:01:20. > :01:21.community for years now, it's time that he was

:01:22. > :01:26.There's outrage, there's bitter disappointment.

:01:27. > :01:29.There's a lot of anger about why he hasn't been expelled already.

:01:30. > :01:32.Last night, Ken Livingstone was unapologetic.

:01:33. > :01:35.Do you accept you had poor judgment over the way

:01:36. > :01:40.No, if anyone's upset by what I said of course I am sorry but...

:01:41. > :01:44.I am not going to apologise for something I didn't say.

:01:45. > :01:48.And his supporters took to Twitter to defend him,

:01:49. > :01:54.Along with his critics, who called for him to be expelled.

:01:55. > :01:57.And one woman ripping up her Labour membership card.

:01:58. > :02:01.The Labour leader spoke out today saying there would be

:02:02. > :02:06.a new investigation into subsequent comments made by Ken Livingstone.

:02:07. > :02:09.I am sending a message to everyone that we do not tolerate

:02:10. > :02:11.anti-Semitism in any form in the party and Ken Livingstone's

:02:12. > :02:14.remarks have caused offence to people and I think he should

:02:15. > :02:18.I also think it would be better if he said no

:02:19. > :02:22.At the Jewish cultural centre JW3 party members said

:02:23. > :02:29.Unfortunately, we have seen some Jewish Labour Party members resign

:02:30. > :02:35.We have also seen lots of Jewish and non-Jewish supporters

:02:36. > :02:38.of the Jewish community join the Jewish Labour movement.

:02:39. > :02:44.As one disciplinary ends, another begins.

:02:45. > :02:46.Well, Tolu Adayoye has spoken to the former Mayor Ken Livingstone

:02:47. > :02:49.and asked him what he made of the new investigation.

:02:50. > :02:55.Well, basically people just have to go on to the Jewish news website

:02:56. > :02:58.from last week where it's got this headline that to expel me

:02:59. > :03:01.for comments about the Holocaust would be a mistake.

:03:02. > :03:05.It then goes on to explain that what I said was true,

:03:06. > :03:08.that I had been misquoted by a lot of quite unpleasant Labour

:03:09. > :03:10.MPs claiming I said Hitler was a Zionist.

:03:11. > :03:13.There were mistakes on the Jewish Chronicle website

:03:14. > :03:17.saying not just that I had said Hitler was a Zionist but that I had

:03:18. > :03:22.Well, this 11-month investigation by the Labour bureaucracy hasn't

:03:23. > :03:26.found a single shred of evidence to support any of those claims.

:03:27. > :03:29.And the reason I wasn't expelled yesterday was because I am sure

:03:30. > :03:31.the barrister working for the Labour Party

:03:32. > :03:34.would have warned them, look, if you expel Ken Livingstone

:03:35. > :03:38.he will go for judicial review and a judge is going to not allow

:03:39. > :03:42.someone to be disciplined for stating historical truth.

:03:43. > :03:46.Do you accept that what you said did deeply offend some people?

:03:47. > :03:50.In the last 11 months two or three Jewish people have come up to say

:03:51. > :03:52.why did you say Hitler was a Zionist?

:03:53. > :03:57.But almost all the people who come up to me who are Jewish have been

:03:58. > :03:59.saying we know what you said is true, don't these

:04:00. > :04:03.This doesn't look good for the Labour Party, does it?

:04:04. > :04:05.Do you accept that you have compromised them in some way here?

:04:06. > :04:08.Well, I came into politics to tell the truth.

:04:09. > :04:11.I was never trained to be evasive or duplicitous

:04:12. > :04:16.I get invited to do lots of interviews because I

:04:17. > :04:19.I can't see any reason for being in politics

:04:20. > :04:25.In the wake of the new investigation what action do you plan to take now?

:04:26. > :04:28.Well, I wasn't going to make any decision about whether or not

:04:29. > :04:29.to challenge my suspension until after the local

:04:30. > :04:35.I think it's already damaging to the Labour Party all this

:04:36. > :04:40.But if there's to be another inquiry there's no point doing that,

:04:41. > :04:44.They'll find the same advice from the lawyers, that, you know,

:04:45. > :04:47.you can't discipline someone for stating the truth,

:04:48. > :04:49.particularly when you are ignoring all those Labour MPs who have

:04:50. > :04:58.As you've been hearing today, the capital came together and stood

:04:59. > :05:01.together, just as it did two weeks ago, when the horrific events

:05:02. > :05:04.A special service of hope and remembrance was held

:05:05. > :05:16.We can join Tarah Welsh, who's outside the Abbey this evening.

:05:17. > :05:22.Today people from across the world attended this service today. They

:05:23. > :05:26.were friends and families of the victims, they were men and women

:05:27. > :05:31.from our emergency services that helped people that day. That day two

:05:32. > :05:36.weeks ago had such a huge impact on so many people that the Dean of

:05:37. > :05:41.Westminster told us he had to think very carefully before the service. I

:05:42. > :05:46.think we had to focus on the actual experience and I did refer to that

:05:47. > :05:51.in the sermon. I know that some people, I talked about weeping, we

:05:52. > :05:57.weep with those who weep. There were some people who went inevitably. So,

:05:58. > :06:03.you take it seriously, really seriously and you Ponder the moment.

:06:04. > :06:07.I think that people find that in a way cathartic. Obviously, it's a

:06:08. > :06:12.long process as everyone knows, a bereavement is a long process. When

:06:13. > :06:16.it's so sudden and unexpected and shocking like that, although there

:06:17. > :06:21.may be some sense of pride, especially in relation to the police

:06:22. > :06:26.constable, nevertheless, it's a difficult process. One person who

:06:27. > :06:32.witnessed his friends being injured in the attack told us he hopes today

:06:33. > :06:38.helps with the healing process. It was a horrible situation because we

:06:39. > :06:42.didn't know what was happening, we were separated from half our group.

:06:43. > :06:46.He was injured on the bridge, we saw the photos journalists had been

:06:47. > :06:52.posting of people, Travis I think sustained a broken wrist, and a

:06:53. > :06:59.broken rib and broken leg. Owen had a head injury. Today was a service

:07:00. > :07:02.of hope and we were told Londoners from all faiths came together to

:07:03. > :07:06.grieve but this is still very raw, still only two weeks on, still

:07:07. > :07:09.people in hospital and this is a day that many Londoners will never

:07:10. > :07:13.forget. Thank you.

:07:14. > :07:15.It was from Alexandra Palace's mast that the first

:07:16. > :07:17.ever British Television programme was broadcast.

:07:18. > :07:19.But today, questions have been raised as to why a planned TV

:07:20. > :07:21.heritage museum isn't currently going ahead.

:07:22. > :07:23.That's despite a ?27 million publicly funded restoration.

:07:24. > :07:32.The restoration work is in full flow.

:07:33. > :07:34.By next autumn, this theatre will be open,

:07:35. > :07:43.the original features brought back to glory and the possibilities

:07:44. > :07:56.endless at what the Victorians called, the People's Palace.

:07:57. > :07:58.This part of the ?27 million project will happen

:07:59. > :08:00.at Alexandra Palace on time and on budget.

:08:01. > :08:03.ARCHIVE: The station goes on the air.

:08:04. > :08:05.# A mighty maze of mystic magic rays...# .

:08:06. > :08:08.When Adele Dixon sang of the magic mystic rays of television in 1936,

:08:09. > :08:11.Ally Pally took its place in history as the location of the world's first

:08:12. > :08:15.As part of the redevelopment we were promised a visitor

:08:16. > :08:17.attraction with everything from historic kit, to a chance

:08:18. > :08:19.to be a newsreader, but there's no more money left,

:08:20. > :08:24.If something can't finish, I don't understand, surely it hasn't

:08:25. > :08:25.been cleverly planned out then, has it?

:08:26. > :08:28.I suppose, I would have thought, if one's restoring Ally Pally

:08:29. > :08:31.to what it used to be, its former glory, then that

:08:32. > :08:32.part of the plan should definitely go-ahead.

:08:33. > :08:35.I was actually trying to raise money for them up here.

:08:36. > :08:37.So I have to be up with my bucket again.

:08:38. > :08:39.Television and Ally Pally are inseparable, their shared

:08:40. > :08:42.history is literally written on the walls here.

:08:43. > :08:45.So why is such a key part of the ?27 million

:08:46. > :08:57.We're working with a complex historical building,

:08:58. > :08:59.against a fixed budget and prices have changed.

:09:00. > :09:01.We found things that we didn't expect to find,

:09:02. > :09:06.So we're making the right decision, at the right time.

:09:07. > :09:09.What they found was problems you'd encounter with any

:09:10. > :09:11.restoration project, plus a post-Brexit hike in the price

:09:12. > :09:14.of some materials and a shortage of the right people for the job.

:09:15. > :09:17.It's very easy if you were in today's modern society,

:09:18. > :09:19.if you want to replace a window, you'd probably put

:09:20. > :09:23.I think with the scale of the windows here,

:09:24. > :09:26.is you're trying to find, you know, joiners who understand

:09:27. > :09:29.Victorian joinery and how wood was joined together,

:09:30. > :09:32.but trying to find them in today's environment is extremely difficult.

:09:33. > :09:35.The redevelopment team says they chose the theatre over

:09:36. > :09:37.the television project because it was closer to completion,

:09:38. > :09:40.but they promised that Alexandra Palace will see

:09:41. > :09:45.So while they build what they can now, the battle to raise

:09:46. > :10:00.That's it from me. I will hand you over to Stav with a look at the

:10:01. > :10:05.weather. I hear a warm weekend to come? That's right, maybe touches 22

:10:06. > :10:08.degrees on Sunday. It's been a chilly day today. We had sunshine

:10:09. > :10:09.around but we will see the clouds building up through the overnight

:10:10. > :10:16.period. For most a blanket of cloud by dawn.

:10:17. > :10:21.Temperatures nine in London but cooler than that where skies clear.

:10:22. > :10:25.This picture might be optimistic for the morning but generally speaking

:10:26. > :10:30.it's going to be cloudy with sunny spells breaking through during the

:10:31. > :10:34.afternoon. I am hopeful we should see more sunny spells, if we do we

:10:35. > :10:39.will see temperatures reaching 15, maybe 16. The winds remain light.

:10:40. > :10:42.That's because we have high pressure in control so benign weather even

:10:43. > :10:45.into Friday but as we head to the weekend this is where we will see

:10:46. > :10:50.temperatures rise as we pick up more of a southerly wind off the

:10:51. > :10:55.continent. Friday, a cloudy start, we should see holes breaking in the

:10:56. > :10:59.cloud, pushing temperatures up to 14 or 15. It is sunny towards the

:11:00. > :11:00.weekend and we could see the low 20s by

:11:01. > :11:02.weekend and we could see the low 20s by Sunday. Here is Darren with the

:11:03. > :11:04.national
