:00:00. > 3:59:59online, constantly updated throughout the night as well. Here

:00:00. > :00:10.on BBC One it's time So, politicians have visited

:00:11. > :00:16.the area of the Grenfell Tower Block fire to meet the emergency services

:00:17. > :00:20.and those directly affected. The Prime Minister was there this

:00:21. > :00:24.morning and, a short time later, she was followed by Labour Leader,

:00:25. > :00:27.Jeremy Corbyn. By the time the Mayor of London

:00:28. > :00:29.turned up this afternoon, some local people were becoming

:00:30. > :00:33.frustrated at the number of visits He lives on the block just yards

:00:34. > :00:45.from Grenfell Tower and has done for a year and a half

:00:46. > :00:47.with his young family. He watched yesterday morning

:00:48. > :00:49.as the fire took hold. My kids are not sleeping

:00:50. > :00:54.since they see this one. They say, dad, we want

:00:55. > :00:58.to move from here. The family have friends

:00:59. > :01:00.who are missing. They didn't find these three,

:01:01. > :01:03.but they found these two. Like others they followed appeals

:01:04. > :01:06.online, like other families these children have friends who may

:01:07. > :01:09.have been affected. One of my friends who is now in

:01:10. > :01:14.hospital, she burned her whole hand. She is the same age as me,

:01:15. > :01:19.she goes to my school. Her dad, her mum and

:01:20. > :01:34.her little brother. They found her big brother,

:01:35. > :01:38.he's in hospital as well. Yes, I've known her

:01:39. > :01:42.since my whole life. The family, like many in the blocks

:01:43. > :01:45.in this area, also feel let down by the authorities over the state

:01:46. > :01:48.of their housing. The fire has seen that anger

:01:49. > :01:54.brought to the surface. As the Mayor visited the scene today

:01:55. > :01:58.he was not universally welcomed. Some came to take pictures,

:01:59. > :02:01.some to vent their anger. When he did speak it was to praise

:02:02. > :02:20.the reaction of the local community. They have come together

:02:21. > :02:22.and they have shown their support for the victims, the families

:02:23. > :02:26.and friends of all those affected And as you will see

:02:27. > :02:37.understandably... Understandably the residents

:02:38. > :02:41.are very angry and concerned and have genuine questions

:02:42. > :02:44.that demand answers. Thanks for your questions,

:02:45. > :02:50.I really appreciate it. I'm fed up with these

:02:51. > :02:53.politicians, no handshakes. People have said they were warned

:02:54. > :03:01.and not enough was done and they have said it is

:03:02. > :03:04.because the people in that block were poor members of the community

:03:05. > :03:07.and if it was a block for millionaires, perhaps this

:03:08. > :03:09.tragedy wouldn't have happened. Everybody deserves total protection

:03:10. > :03:10.from public regulations. Everybody deserves

:03:11. > :03:13.to live in safety. Everybody deserves the same

:03:14. > :03:16.attention from public services, The government has promised a full

:03:17. > :03:22.public enquiry into the fire and today promised local homes

:03:23. > :03:25.for all those affected. We will support every

:03:26. > :03:29.family that is affected. The Leader of the Opposition talked

:03:30. > :03:34.about the concerns that We are hearing the same

:03:35. > :03:40.thing as well. They may be hearing it,

:03:41. > :03:42.they will be judged Thousands of people are living

:03:43. > :03:58.in tower blocks in London, many similar to the one which went

:03:59. > :04:01.up in flames in north Kensington. It's caused some residents to become

:04:02. > :04:03.concerned over safety, as advice on what to do

:04:04. > :04:06.in case of a fire can vary. Marc Ashdown has been

:04:07. > :04:08.to a tower block in Camden It has been described

:04:09. > :04:12.as a disaster waiting to happen, a horrendous loss of life which some

:04:13. > :04:15.believe could have been prevented. Others fear it could all too

:04:16. > :04:17.easily happen again. The Chalcot Estate in Camden,

:04:18. > :04:19.700 flats across four It is up the road from

:04:20. > :04:25.Grenfell Tower and similarly these blocks have been refurbished

:04:26. > :04:27.with cladding by Margaret has lived on the 20th

:04:28. > :04:33.floor here for 40 years. I try not to think about it to be

:04:34. > :04:36.quite honest because it can There has been one fire on the 17th

:04:37. > :04:43.floor and a couple of minor ones. Another resident, Roger,

:04:44. > :04:46.has also been watching and worrying Do you have fire drills

:04:47. > :04:50.and things like that? The advice on the board is the same

:04:51. > :05:00.as the others have, it is stay put. But inside one of the blocks

:05:01. > :05:08.the signs say if there is a fire, I am right at the top of the tower

:05:09. > :05:13.block and I have had a walk around and there are what appear to be

:05:14. > :05:16.smoke detectors, but I cannot If there was a big fire here,

:05:17. > :05:20.the lifts would stop working, so this is the only way

:05:21. > :05:23.for residents to get out There are 160 flats in this tower

:05:24. > :05:28.block and this is the only We have been talking

:05:29. > :05:34.to councils across London, all of them say they take fire

:05:35. > :05:37.safety very seriously. They all regularly inspect

:05:38. > :05:41.their council properties including tower blocks,

:05:42. > :05:44.but some of them have ordered an emergency inspection

:05:45. > :05:46.in the light of what happened. From Nathaniel's flat on the top

:05:47. > :05:49.floor you can see the charred This is all extra, so a lot of it up

:05:50. > :05:55.to here is what was added. A lot of these blocks have had this

:05:56. > :05:58.extra wall put on them on the outside and if that is a fire

:05:59. > :06:01.hazard, then that is In a statement this afternoon Ryden,

:06:02. > :06:07.the company which carried out the work at Grenfell,

:06:08. > :06:09.said it met all building and fire regulations and it was signed off

:06:10. > :06:12.by building control. The company has worked with councils

:06:13. > :06:15.across London for 40 years, carrying out maintenance to blocks

:06:16. > :06:17.in Westminster, Barnet, Croydon, Newham, Redbridge,

:06:18. > :06:20.and extra safety checks Thousands of residents need

:06:21. > :06:27.answers about how this fire was caused and reassurance

:06:28. > :06:36.that their homes are safe. Well, a wall of condolence is up

:06:37. > :06:39.near the scene of the fire with messages of love and hope

:06:40. > :06:42.being written by people including those still searching

:06:43. > :06:44.for missing friends and family. Victoria Hollins is there for us

:06:45. > :06:56.this evening, Victoria. It is ten to 11 at night and until

:06:57. > :07:02.the last few minutes people have been turning up to still sign this

:07:03. > :07:06.wall. There are literally thousands and thousands of tributes on this

:07:07. > :07:12.wall. It has grown considerably even in the last couple of hours. Flowers

:07:13. > :07:16.have been put down and candles have been lit. There is a sense of pride

:07:17. > :07:22.in this community, but also frustration. The people we have lost

:07:23. > :07:28.in this terrible tragedy, I promise to fight for you and ensure your

:07:29. > :07:32.memory lives on. Rest in peace. There are similar messages on the

:07:33. > :07:35.wall. When we were on the street a short time ago that is the sense

:07:36. > :07:39.Every time there's a problem we are out here, we rally

:07:40. > :07:41.for our neighbours, we speak to each other.

:07:42. > :07:46.I'm sorry, it's the government that is making people believe

:07:47. > :07:51.Everybody out here represents someone that came from there.

:07:52. > :07:53.I was genuinely struggling to give food because all donation centres

:07:54. > :07:56.are full, and I said, if I have to go back

:07:57. > :08:04.with this it will probably be the best moment in humanity.

:08:05. > :08:12.There is here a sense of quiet contemplation at the moment. As I

:08:13. > :08:17.said earlier, pride in the sense of the amount of donations we have been

:08:18. > :08:22.hearing about. One man said he was turned away and he was proud of that

:08:23. > :08:27.fact. We know now and there are 79 households affected by the fire from

:08:28. > :08:31.the block who are being put up in hotels in this borough and the

:08:32. > :08:35.surrounding boroughs. They face a long and very difficult future.

:08:36. > :08:38.There's a charity fundraising concert in west London tonight

:08:39. > :08:43.Organisers have called the concert "Grime for Grenfell".

:08:44. > :08:46.Some of the organisers have been directly affected

:08:47. > :08:50.by the fire as Ayshea Buksh has been finding out.

:08:51. > :08:53.You were fortunate with the lies, decorated the dreams you sold.

:08:54. > :09:00.Tisha has grown up in west London and is

:09:01. > :09:04.Tonight, she's performing at a charity

:09:05. > :09:07.concert raising money for Grenfell Tower.

:09:08. > :09:10.It really makes me feel so sad to the bottom my soul.

:09:11. > :09:12.I don't have much, but I will give anything,

:09:13. > :09:14.anything I have, because I have more than them.

:09:15. > :09:23.The event was the idea of a group called the burn-out Collective.

:09:24. > :09:26.It is led by Josh Thompson, whose friend from Grenfell is still

:09:27. > :09:31.This community are here, so why don't I try and make something

:09:32. > :09:34.where we can get all the community of West London, South London,

:09:35. > :09:37.everyone together, and try and make a big event.

:09:38. > :09:39.It's spread so fast and we said 6pm yesterday, and now,

:09:40. > :09:42.today, I'm on the news right now talking to you.

:09:43. > :09:48.There's still a lot of anger and frustration about what happened

:09:49. > :09:51.but these young people are channelling that reaction into

:09:52. > :09:57.I think that young people are particularly angry about this,

:09:58. > :10:04.Grime happens to be a very energetic form of music, a

:10:05. > :10:08.very pure form of music and I think there no better genre to represent

:10:09. > :10:14.how we're feeling than grime at the minute.

:10:15. > :10:17.And all proceeds from tonight will go to local charities,

:10:18. > :10:26.That's it for now from me, but lets find out what

:10:27. > :10:36.A lot of dry weather ahead for the next few days and a slightly cooler

:10:37. > :10:41.night, setting us up into a pleasant day tomorrow in terms of dry and

:10:42. > :10:47.bright weather. Probably a bit more cloud on balance compared to today.

:10:48. > :10:53.Temperature is a little lower, 22, 23, but afterwards we will see

:10:54. > :10:57.temperatures rising again. High levels of pollen as we go through

:10:58. > :11:07.Saturday as well. The temperatures will get into the high 20s.

:11:08. > :11:16.Good evening. For most of us are fresher feel today and that is

:11:17. > :11:19.because a cold front pushed in from the West. Ahead of it we saw some

:11:20. > :11:27.sunshine and some heat across the Kent coast. Behind it, it was much

:11:28. > :11:31.fresher, only 12 degrees, and a real rush of showers developed in

:11:32. > :11:36.Northern Ireland and Scotland. They will weaken through the rest of the

:11:37. > :11:41.night tonight and it is a quiet night, more of a comfortable night

:11:42. > :11:47.for sleeping as we have lost that humidity. A few showers in the far

:11:48. > :11:52.north-west, overnight lows of 10-14d. We start off tomorrow with

:11:53. > :11:57.decent spells of sunshine in England and Wales. A bit of cloud developing

:11:58. > :12:02.as the afternoon progresses. More cloud and a little bit of drizzle

:12:03. > :12:03.and misty and murky conditions in the
