:00:34. > :00:34.Good evening. I'm Victoria Hollins.

:00:35. > :00:38.It was four weeks ago today that one man died and ten people were injured

:00:39. > :00:40.in a terrorist attack near Finsbury Park Mosque,

:00:41. > :00:42.in what the Head of the Metropolitan Police said "was quite clearly

:00:43. > :00:45.Today, the Mosque's Chairman has called for stronger

:00:46. > :00:49.He says that since the attack they've received a surge

:00:50. > :00:54.Recall behind me is going out for evening prayers right now. Four

:00:55. > :00:59.weeks ago it was extremely busy here. It was Ramadan with many

:01:00. > :01:05.people coming out of the Finsbury Park mosque after evening prayer.

:01:06. > :01:09.Many were heading up to the high Street. That was where, just after

:01:10. > :01:11.midnight, a van was driven into a crowd of people.

:01:12. > :01:17.Everyone was emotional, and it was tough for people,

:01:18. > :01:22.Sadiq Yusuf witnessed the attack and did his best

:01:23. > :01:34.There was a guy still underneath the van who we needed to move.

:01:35. > :01:37.Luckily a lot of people came out of restaurants and houses nearby

:01:38. > :01:40.and lifted the van so we could get one of the victims underneath.

:01:41. > :01:41.Some people were conscious, some unconscious.

:01:42. > :01:44.Yassin was hit by the van, suffering a broken leg.

:01:45. > :01:49.There is a lot of chaos, a lot of worry and a lot

:01:50. > :01:54.Everybody was so scared of what happened.

:01:55. > :01:56.While Islington Council has been praised for its support

:01:57. > :02:00.of the community, racist crime targeting Muslims has risen.

:02:01. > :02:03.According to Met police figures, in the weeks before the Manchester

:02:04. > :02:05.bombing there were on average 17 Islamophobic hate crimes

:02:06. > :02:10.There was a clear spike following the London Bridge attack

:02:11. > :02:15.And in the weeks following the Finsbury Park attack there have

:02:16. > :02:19.still been 81 hate crimes reported every week.

:02:20. > :02:22.The chairman of the mosque showed us a file of letters full

:02:23. > :02:25.of poisonous vitriol, all delivered here.

:02:26. > :02:30.You will have a river of blood, for example.

:02:31. > :02:37.And we will make sure you get hurt and your community gets hurt.

:02:38. > :02:39.Expect bombs and other things in your centres,

:02:40. > :02:46.He discussed the need for stronger deterrents with the Prime Minister

:02:47. > :02:48.when she visited the mosque after the attack.

:02:49. > :02:51.Tougher penalties for those found guilty of hate crimes and more

:02:52. > :02:58.We're not asking to catch every perpetrator who has

:02:59. > :03:06.sent a letter like that, because we know it's impossible.

:03:07. > :03:08.But we expect something to be done about some

:03:09. > :03:12.to the bottom of it and find out who's behind it.

:03:13. > :03:14.We take Islamophobic hate crime and all kinds of hate

:03:15. > :03:17.We allocate cases to experienced detectives, and they do

:03:18. > :03:20.whatever they can in terms of their investigative abilities

:03:21. > :03:22.to support the victim, to chase the suspect,

:03:23. > :03:29.and again to bring the suspects to justice.

:03:30. > :03:31.The Home Office say they've given ?1 million to help mosques

:03:32. > :03:33.improve their security and are working with relevant

:03:34. > :03:36.agencies to make sure tougher sentences are handed down

:03:37. > :03:42.But as these small handprints from local schoolchildren show,

:03:43. > :03:50.there is hope this community can slowly heal.

:03:51. > :03:56.I have spent quite a bit of time round here in the last month and

:03:57. > :04:01.generally the atmosphere is pretty positive. But work continues behind

:04:02. > :04:05.the scenes to heal the emotional and physical scars. To that end, I

:04:06. > :04:09.understand victim support workers will be going into the mosque for

:04:10. > :04:14.the first time next week. Meanwhile, 47-year-old Darren Osborne has been

:04:15. > :04:17.charged with terrorism related murder and attempted murder. He is

:04:18. > :04:18.due to appear on Thursday at the Old Bailey for a second preliminary

:04:19. > :04:21.hearing. There are fears that stress

:04:22. > :04:23.and exhaustion among London's bus drivers

:04:24. > :04:25.is contributing to a rise 25 people were killed

:04:26. > :04:30.either on or by Just to warn you, you

:04:31. > :04:34.might find the pictures at the beginning of this

:04:35. > :04:36.next report shocking. Here's our Transport

:04:37. > :04:40.Correspondent Tom Edwards. This man is just moments

:04:41. > :04:43.away from the impact. He survived but was badly injured

:04:44. > :04:47.in the incident in Beckton. And in Ladbroke Grove,

:04:48. > :04:49.a bus mounted a pavement. Today's report says the capital's

:04:50. > :04:54.buses could be Major safer. Ten years ago Sarah Hope's mother

:04:55. > :04:57.died after being hit by a bus. Her daughter lost her leg

:04:58. > :05:02.in the same incident. She wants operators to reduce

:05:03. > :05:05.the stress on drivers. We had a terrible incident

:05:06. > :05:15.in our family and it was caused by a bus driver having road rage,

:05:16. > :05:18.which is unforgivable, and it must But since that happened,

:05:19. > :05:26.and since I have been working on my campaign to help bus drivers,

:05:27. > :05:30.I have learned quite a lot about the stresses and strains

:05:31. > :05:33.that they are under. And I think we need to really think

:05:34. > :05:36.about them and what they actually physically do every day,

:05:37. > :05:39.which is more than driving a bus. 25 people have been killed

:05:40. > :05:42.on or by buses in the last two Today's report found an emphasis

:05:43. > :05:48.on punctuality over safety, with drivers facing long hours,

:05:49. > :05:58.which compromises their ability. The one thing is making sure

:05:59. > :06:01.the contracts incentivise safety as well as punctuality,

:06:02. > :06:06.but we also need to make sure Transport for London's

:06:07. > :06:08.own management having their bonus regime safety

:06:09. > :06:10.at the heart of it. We need to make sure the life

:06:11. > :06:13.of drivers is better, and that means making sure they can

:06:14. > :06:15.have their meal breaks, making sure they don't drive

:06:16. > :06:18.for 16 hours at a time, because if they are tired,

:06:19. > :06:20.they may make mistakes. In extreme cases, this incident

:06:21. > :06:23.shows the behaviour from passengers drivers also sometimes have

:06:24. > :06:28.to deal with. Bus driving is one of the most

:06:29. > :06:30.stressful transport Joanne Harris has been

:06:31. > :06:36.a driver for ten years. Most drivers are doing 12 hour days

:06:37. > :06:45.and then getting forced overtime 13 and a half hours of all-out

:06:46. > :06:49.stress, with all those people on board, is not a good combination

:06:50. > :06:51.for road safety. TfL welcomes the recommendations

:06:52. > :06:53.and says it's taking It's aiming for no deaths

:06:54. > :07:03.involving a bus by 2030. But campaigners are calling

:07:04. > :07:05.for much quicker action. A debate is taking place

:07:06. > :07:09.in parliament on the growing It follows a big rise

:07:10. > :07:13.in the number of such assaults. Earlier the Mayor,

:07:14. > :07:15.Sadiq Khan, called for One victim, who had acid

:07:16. > :07:19.squirted in face and eyes, has been speaking to BBC London

:07:20. > :07:21.about his ordeal. And a warning there are

:07:22. > :07:23.some flashing images They started pushing me about,

:07:24. > :07:33.calling me racial abuse. Imran, a father of five,

:07:34. > :07:36.was attacked with acid in November Minutes after he thought he had

:07:37. > :07:43.avoided a fight here with a large Minutes later he ran

:07:44. > :07:48.into two of them again. I tried putting my window up

:07:49. > :07:52.but they have got to my car here and I have realised one of them

:07:53. > :07:58.had a bottle of Lucozade on him. As I have looked, he has literally

:07:59. > :08:00.thrown it onto my face. I couldn't see

:08:01. > :08:06.anything straightaway. I was in pain, and it was

:08:07. > :08:10.burning and everything. This is how he looked at the time,

:08:11. > :08:14.but he says his excellent physical It's not physical that's

:08:15. > :08:19.the problem, it's mental. I can't get it out

:08:20. > :08:22.of my head, even now. Following five acid attacks

:08:23. > :08:29.in less than an hour and a half last week,

:08:30. > :08:32.Sadiq Khan today called I think we should be talking

:08:33. > :08:36.about life sentences We should be looking at the most

:08:37. > :08:42.severe sentences when people have used acid like a life changing

:08:43. > :08:45.and life-threatening weapon. But that hasn't happened

:08:46. > :08:47.in Imran's case. He says his attacker

:08:48. > :08:50.is still on the streets. Staring at me, laughing

:08:51. > :08:55.at me, smiling at me. It's simply that he

:08:56. > :08:57.is laughing at me. But I could have done something

:08:58. > :09:08.myself, but I've got kids. That's the only

:09:09. > :09:09.reason that stops me. It should be classed as attempted

:09:10. > :09:12.murder or something, Sadly, an agonising increase

:09:13. > :09:20.in cases like Imran's means that That's it for now from me, but let's

:09:21. > :09:40.find out what the weather's It looks like it'll be a pretty

:09:41. > :09:44.interesting week ahead in the weather. It'll start hot and humid

:09:45. > :09:49.and then we'll see thunderstorms developing before it cooler and more

:09:50. > :09:54.settled before the end of the week. A warm night tonight, only 16 or 17

:09:55. > :09:58.degrees by the end, and tomorrow morning some medium and upper level

:09:59. > :10:04.cloud, but a dry start to a dry and warm day. Windy, wind from the

:10:05. > :10:11.south-east with humid air, bringing it up to the upper 20s in one or two

:10:12. > :10:13.spots. Tomorrow evening, we will see showers and thunderstorms spreading

:10:14. > :10:17.north through the region. There could be heavy downpours but by the

:10:18. > :10:21.end of the night most will clear away and it's another warm one, 18

:10:22. > :10:25.degrees for many on Wednesday morning. A southerly breeze on

:10:26. > :10:31.Wednesday, some showers around but I think we will avoid most of them.

:10:32. > :10:34.You might catch one or two, but 25 degrees once again. We will not see

:10:35. > :10:38.those temperatures at the end of the week with a cold front moving

:10:39. > :10:44.through on Thursday. It will introduce fresh air. Some rain on

:10:45. > :10:49.Thursday, mostly early in the day. Drying up in the afternoon with

:10:50. > :10:54.temperatures coming down, 21 and 22 at best. On settled on Friday. Cloud

:10:55. > :10:59.and outbreaks of rain. Also windy and it will not feel like 20

:11:00. > :11:03.degrees. At the weekend, it will be quite unsettled with showers around.

:11:04. > :11:04.It's not all doom and gloom with drier interludes. Here's

:11:05. > :11:12.It's not all doom and gloom with drier interludes. Here's Ben with

:11:13. > :11:16.the national picture. Good evening. What goes up must come down. So the

:11:17. > :11:24.saying goes. That certainly applies to the temperatures. Sunspots cut up

:11:25. > :11:30.to 27 degrees and tomorrow we could get even warmer with some spots up

:11:31. > :11:33.to 29. The middle of the week will bring a change. Thunderstorms will

:11:34. > :11:37.be sparked off and as they clear away, that's when the temperatures

:11:38. > :11:39.take a tumble all the way down to around 20 degrees at best for most

:11:40. > :11:40.places by
