:00:55. > :00:58.I'm going to suffer it for a week, probably work from home for a bit,
:00:59. > :01:02.It is just one of those things, really.
:01:03. > :01:05.It is a pain, but if it is needed, it is needed.
:01:06. > :01:12.Waterloo is the UK's busiest station with 100 million passengers
:01:13. > :01:17.It is essential we do this work, lengthen platforms,
:01:18. > :01:21.delivering more modern trains, getting more bums
:01:22. > :01:25.At the moment, platforms 1-4 are pretty short.

:01:48. > :01:50.Those in red will be closed at least some of the time.
:01:51. > :01:53.Notably, the line through Clapham Junction will be cancelled

:01:57. > :01:59.on the Shepperton line and as far as Winchester.
:02:00. > :02:03.Services to Reading will also be affected.
:02:04. > :02:05.Controversially, there won't be any blanket compensation
:02:06. > :02:12.Compensation will continue to be available throughout
:02:13. > :02:14.August as it always is, and that is based on the journey
:02:15. > :02:17.that our passengers have compared to the timetable that we have been
:02:18. > :02:20.At Earlsfield station some commuters are already planning
:02:21. > :02:26.The plan is I am going to cycle every day into town I hope.
:02:27. > :02:28.That is good for you. Yeah.
:02:29. > :02:32.I like an extra half hour in bed but that is gone now.
:02:33. > :02:36.I wouldn't mind if it was a week but three weeks is a bit extreme.
:02:37. > :02:38.But the works are extensive, costing ?800 million,
:02:39. > :02:43.Extra trains will be laid on to try and cope but with 250,000 journeys
:02:44. > :02:45.likely to be affected every day, it could be a long
:02:46. > :02:52.The terror attack on London Bridge saw hundreds of businesses suffer
:02:53. > :02:57.financially because of the closure of Borough Market for 11 days.
:02:58. > :03:02.Two months on, and a number of traders say they've yet
:03:03. > :03:04.to receive sufficient insurance payments to cover their losses.
:03:05. > :03:07.One claims staff may even have to be laid off as a result.
:03:08. > :03:11.It is one of the city's most popular destinations,
:03:12. > :03:16.with millions of people visiting every year.

:03:20. > :03:24.The consequences have been significant.
:03:25. > :03:27.In the months following the attack, one stallholder said it had

:03:51. > :03:55.It has been a real challenge with the insurers.
:03:56. > :03:57.They've not been helpful at all in this process.
:03:58. > :03:59.Our initial enquiry, we were told they wouldn't
:04:00. > :04:04.Most of the other businesses here have had that message.
:04:05. > :04:07.Our insurers have now sent a loss adjuster down to review
:04:08. > :04:10.the claim but two months on, no sign of any money.
:04:11. > :04:13.And if Sean doesn't get the insurance money he says he might

:05:14. > :05:15.Today the Crown Prosecution Service has clarified how the crime
:05:16. > :05:30.Acid attacks are pretty high profile at the moment, aren't they? They
:05:31. > :05:35.feel like the new menace on our streets, the threat of an acid
:05:36. > :05:39.attack. And so the Crown Prosecution Service have responded to the fact
:05:40. > :05:43.that lots of people have been calling for tougher laws and
:05:44. > :05:47.sentencing and clarified what the sentencing actually is and it is
:05:48. > :05:51.already pretty tough. If you are caught carrying acid with intent to
:05:52. > :05:56.cause injury, you face a four-year sentence. If you throw acid on
:05:57. > :06:02.someone, even if it misses its target, you face a life sentence.
:06:03. > :06:06.The big news really is that the Home Office are carrying out a review at
:06:07. > :06:12.the moment and that could lead to even tougher sentences. And also,
:06:13. > :06:15.restrictions on access to acid because essentially, what we are
:06:16. > :06:21.talking about are corrosive liquids that anyone can currently buy from
:06:22. > :06:24.pretty much any DIY store. Thank you for joining us. Jim weevil, there.
:06:25. > :06:27.That's it for now from me, but let's find out what the weekend
:06:28. > :06:38.How good-looking? Not too bad at all and today was
:06:39. > :06:41.pretty spectacular at its best, hopefully the sunflower was not the
:06:42. > :06:45.only thing which saw some sunshine. The odd light shower overnight,
:06:46. > :06:48.temperatures starting Saturday where we started Friday. Saturday
:06:49. > :06:52.morning's early showers will be quite light compared to what comes
:06:53. > :06:56.later in the morning, on through lunchtime and into the afternoon.
:06:57. > :07:00.They could be heavy enough of the odd rumble of thunder. Top
:07:01. > :07:04.temperature if you see the sunshine, 21 degrees or so, showers tending to
:07:05. > :07:08.fade away and under clear skies, look at this, I know it is August
:07:09. > :07:12.but single figure temperatures for some so chilly start but that
:07:13. > :07:16.equates when the sun is up to a bright and sunny start to the new
:07:17. > :07:26.day. Can we keep it going all day? The cloud fills in a bit but if you
:07:27. > :07:29.have a plan for the day, the weather will fit in with it, drive for the
:07:30. > :07:31.most part with a high of 21 or 22. Into the start of the new week,
:07:32. > :07:32.changeable weather Into the start of the new week,
:07:33. > :07:43.changeable weather to say the least. Good evening, mixed, unsettled,
:07:44. > :07:46.changeable, many words you could use to describe the weather we've had in
:07:47. > :07:50.the last week but heatwave would not be one of them. That is a far cry
:07:51. > :07:54.from the weather we have been seeing across southern Europe. Today was
:07:55. > :07:58.another day of dangerous heat in places from the Balkans westwards
:07:59. > :08:02.towards southern Spain, temperatures well up into the 40s, close to 45
:08:03. > :08:06.degrees in parts of southern Spain, a lot of this down to the jet
:08:07. > :08:10.stream, southern Europe is on the southern side of the jet stream and
:08:11. > :08:16.we are on the northern side of it, the cold side of the jet stream. It
:08:17. > :08:19.is the jet stream, the winds high in the atmosphere, that pushes the
:08:20. > :08:22.weather systems around the globe. And you can see we have a queue of
:08:23. > :08:29.them waiting in the wings to moving over the next few days. The weekend
:08:30. > :08:30.essentially stays pretty changeable with a mixture of sunshine and heavy
