0:00:00 > 0:00:25Now on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

0:00:25 > 0:00:26Good evening. for the news where you are.

0:00:26 > 0:00:27I'm Asad Ahmad. for the news where you are.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29The ongoing spat between US President, Donald Trump

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and Mayor of London, Sadeeq Khan - has taken another turn

0:00:31 > 0:00:34today after the presidential visit to London next month was cancelled.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36The decision has been welcomed by Mr Khan -

0:00:36 > 0:00:39who thinks the President has finally got the message that Londoners

0:00:39 > 0:00:40won't welcome him here.

0:00:40 > 0:00:44Here's our Political Correspondent, Karl Mercer.

0:00:44 > 0:00:45Please don't touch him, please.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47They didn't in the end touch the wax one

0:00:47 > 0:00:50and they won't get to touch the real one either,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51but fake Donald did make

0:00:51 > 0:00:54an appearance this morning.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Fun for the builders who queued for selfies,

0:00:56 > 0:00:57slight bemusement for

0:00:57 > 0:00:59the armed police.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Protecting a waxwork president but who won't now have

0:01:02 > 0:01:04to protect the real thing.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06The new embassy will instead be opened by the American

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Secretary of State, with many blaming

0:01:08 > 0:01:09the change of heart on the

0:01:09 > 0:01:12threat of mass protest in London.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15The Mayor needs to be careful because he is not elected to speak

0:01:15 > 0:01:19for the Britain.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20for Britain.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24He is elected to help to run London and it would be nice if he

0:01:24 > 0:01:26focused on his day job, fixed the black hole

0:01:26 > 0:01:29in our finances he has created, build some houses and got on top

0:01:29 > 0:01:30of knife crime epidemic.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Sadiq Khan and President Trump have form.

0:01:32 > 0:01:33After being elected, the Mayor criticised Donald Trump's

0:01:33 > 0:01:36planned ban on some Muslim immigration to the States.

0:01:36 > 0:01:46My views are simple.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48President Trump, your views on Islam are ignorant.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51He doesn't know me, I think they are very rude statements

0:01:51 > 0:01:53and frankly, tell him I will remember those statements.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54They are very nasty statements.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56In the wake of the London Bridge attacks last

0:01:56 > 0:02:00year, Donald Trump tweeted this:

0:02:05 > 0:02:11In fact,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Sadiq Khan has said there was

0:02:13 > 0:02:16no need to be alarmed by the extra police on the streets.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18We will not allow anybody to divide our

0:02:18 > 0:02:19communities.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Back to this morning and the selfies were still

0:02:21 > 0:02:24going strong.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26So were tweets, this time from Boris

0:02:26 > 0:02:32Johnson, who blamed Sadiq Khan and Jeremy Corbyn for putting the

0:02:32 > 0:02:41UK special relationship at risk, calling the mayor a pompous popinjay

0:02:41 > 0:02:45in City Hall, a little rich say some given that Boris Johnson had his own

0:02:45 > 0:02:47spat with Donald Trump after these comments in 2015.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50We have places that are so radicalised that police fear for

0:02:50 > 0:02:51their lives.

0:02:51 > 0:02:56Boris Johnson replied that the only reason he wouldn't

0:02:56 > 0:02:59go to parts of New York was the real risk of

0:02:59 > 0:03:00meeting Donald Trump.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Although it seems they have made up.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06I think that the Foreign Secretary, should, if he has something sensible

0:03:06 > 0:03:11to say, to say it properly but to insult the American President and

0:03:11 > 0:03:14the current Mayor of London, is surely beneath the dignitary of

0:03:14 > 0:03:20being the Foreign Secretary. Donald Trump has been invited to a

0:03:20 > 0:03:25full state visit to the UK but not date on when it might happen, if it

0:03:25 > 0:03:34ever does.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36A Britain First supporter who gave a Nazi salute -

0:03:36 > 0:03:39and told a police officer he was going to "kill a Muslim"

0:03:39 > 0:03:42before driving at his victim in Harrow - has been found

0:03:42 > 0:03:45guilty of the crime - yet tonight, he's a free man.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Before the attack in June, Mareck Zakrotski admitted

0:03:47 > 0:03:48to also beating his wife.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50He was today sentenced to over 30 weeks in prison -

0:03:50 > 0:03:53but was free to go after the time spent on remand.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Protestors in Camden have taken direct action -

0:03:56 > 0:03:58by chaining themselves to trees to make their opposition heard

0:03:58 > 0:04:01to the High Speed Rail Link, HS2.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03They say the impact of the line will be 'devastating'

0:04:03 > 0:04:05although HS2 bosses believe the link will give Londoners

0:04:06 > 0:04:07a reason to celebrate.

0:04:07 > 0:04:11Here's our Transport Correspondent, Tom Edwards.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15The Bree Louise, a much-loved and popular real ale pub in Euston.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17At the end of the month, though, it'll shut to make

0:04:17 > 0:04:20way for a high-speed rail link, HS2.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23It's been here for 15 years, and even now the owners

0:04:23 > 0:04:27still don't know how much compensation they'll get.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30It's not through choice, you know?

0:04:30 > 0:04:33If we had a choice, we'd be here until the day we died.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37The impact it's had on us personally, it's our house,

0:04:37 > 0:04:40our home, our livelihood and has been for the last nearly 15 years.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42It's totally horrendous.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46It's heartbreaking, it really is heartbreaking.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48I'm getting to the stage now where I just carry

0:04:48 > 0:04:50tissues around permanently.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52It's a proper chain, I'm telling you, it's heavy.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Today, these protesters symbolically chained themselves to trees.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Work is due to start here next week.

0:04:58 > 0:05:02This spring, the trees will go.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04The way this project is coming into Euston,

0:05:04 > 0:05:07it's having a devastating effect on local homes and businesses, and

0:05:07 > 0:05:13particularly on our green spaces.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15We've said this at consultation meetings, at select committees.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19We've signed petitions, we've given interviews,

0:05:19 > 0:05:21and we just feel that none of it has been heard.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24The project to build a high-speed rail link to the north

0:05:24 > 0:05:26will cost £55 billion.

0:05:26 > 0:05:30Hundreds of homes in Camden will be lost.

0:05:30 > 0:05:35Residents say they will face 17 years of disruption.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37HS2, though, says the scheme will create jobs, capacity,

0:05:37 > 0:05:41and boost the UK economy.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44The footprint for the site of the HS2 project

0:05:44 > 0:05:50in Euston is now huge.

0:05:50 > 0:05:55HS2 says it will eventually mean six new high-speed

0:05:55 > 0:06:00platforms at Euston station.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03And this work will eventually mean this whole area will be

0:06:03 > 0:06:07able to be redeveloped.

0:06:07 > 0:06:12And any trees that are cut down will be replaced.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14HS2 says negotiations are ongoing to work out final

0:06:14 > 0:06:17compensation figures.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20But many in Euston feel crushed by a huge scheme they never wanted.

0:06:20 > 0:06:26Tom Edwards, BBC London News.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29That's it for now from me, but lets find out what the weather's

0:06:29 > 0:06:35up to with Chris Fawkes.

0:06:35 > 0:06:40I'm glad you are wearing blue, it gives colour to the grey behind you!

0:06:40 > 0:06:42I'm glad you are wearing blue, it gives colour to the grey behind you!

0:06:42 > 0:06:46Yesterday, the cloud was at the top of the buildings, I said it would be

0:06:46 > 0:06:50higher but there is a lot of cloud still around. The trend of lifting

0:06:50 > 0:06:54cloud is the case this weekend. The picture shows how cloudy it has been

0:06:54 > 0:06:59through the day. The cloud is going nowhere, staying grey. But for the

0:06:59 > 0:07:03vast majority it is a straightforward night, staying dry.

0:07:03 > 0:07:08Temperatures at four to five Celsius, with gaps in the cloud.

0:07:08 > 0:07:13Temperatures getting down to one Celsius in one or two colder spots.

0:07:13 > 0:07:19Saturday and a dry day. Cloudy but the winds are stronger. That should

0:07:19 > 0:07:24blow a few gaps in the cloud. A few glimpses of sunshine. The

0:07:24 > 0:07:28temperature similar to today. Looking ahead, Sunday is a cloudy

0:07:28 > 0:07:32day. Outbreaks of rain for Monday. And turning
