0:00:00 > 0:00:00Now on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

0:00:16 > 0:00:17Good evening, I'm Asad Ahmad.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19There's been a surge in the number of young people buying

0:00:19 > 0:00:21tranquillisers and other drugs online to deal with

0:00:21 > 0:00:25anxiety and stress.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29The rise has led to the NHS opening it's first dedicated clinic in west

0:00:29 > 0:00:32London to deal with the problem.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35One of the drugs being bought on the web is called 'Xanax'.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Caroline Davies has been hearing from a mother who witnessed

0:00:38 > 0:00:40a radical change in her teenage daughter after she

0:00:40 > 0:00:42ordered it online.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44She was really intelligent, good grades, never got

0:00:44 > 0:00:54into trouble - EVER.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56She went from being a normally behaved teenager to just

0:00:56 > 0:00:57being a completely different person.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59I didn't recognise the person I was living with.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02This woman, who we're called Michaela, found out last year

0:01:02 > 0:01:03that her daughter was taking Xanax.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06It's a medicine prescribed for anxiety.

0:01:06 > 0:01:07But like a worrying number of teenagers and young people,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09her daughter took it without a prescription.

0:01:09 > 0:01:15She was 14.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17It was like she was really drunk, zombified.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19When the effects were wearing off she'd get angry,

0:01:19 > 0:01:23aggressive, violent.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26She said it was fun and then she said she was doing it because it

0:01:26 > 0:01:32made her feel better.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Highly addictive, Xanax is also known as Alprazolam

0:01:34 > 0:01:38and is a tranquilizer.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40It's up to 20 times stronger than Valium.

0:01:40 > 0:01:45In America it's well-known, sung with about in rap songs.

0:01:45 > 0:01:46# Mixed with the Xanax...#.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48But its dawning dangers are also well documented.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50It's illegal in the UK unless you have a prescription,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53but there are worries that more Londoners are buying it and other

0:01:53 > 0:01:55prescription medicines online, which is why the NHS have funded

0:01:55 > 0:01:58a clinic in Earl's Court to tackle the problem.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01These medicines are prescription medicines for a reason,

0:02:01 > 0:02:05because they do have harms if they're taken inappropriately.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09The Government told us that law enforcement agencies continue

0:02:09 > 0:02:12to work to shut down UK based websites found to be selling these

0:02:12 > 0:02:14drugs illegally and that they're taking strong action to prevent

0:02:15 > 0:02:16the harm caused by drugs.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Michaela's daughter was eventually excluded from her school,

0:02:18 > 0:02:22now she's stopped taking Xanax.

0:02:22 > 0:02:31That drug completely changes your personality and how you behave.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Because she's not doing that now, things are better.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34They're looking brighter.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38If you asked her what she would do now, she'd say no, don't do it.

0:02:38 > 0:02:39Don't take it.

0:02:39 > 0:02:40It ruins your life.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Caroline Davies, BBC London News.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46The men who carried out last year's terror attack on London Bridge,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48which claimed eight lives, were all found to have

0:02:48 > 0:02:49steroids in their blood.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Khurum Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba carried out

0:02:52 > 0:02:53the killings in June.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54Frankie McCamley can tell us more.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Frankie.

0:02:57 > 0:03:03Yes. Now, many will remember, even those these three suspects were shot

0:03:03 > 0:03:09dead within nine minutes of officers arriving on the scene The Met police

0:03:09 > 0:03:13are carrying out an investigation. They look at the CCTV footage,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17witness evidence, analysing the arms used in the attack and

0:03:17 > 0:03:21reconstructing it as well. When that van drove into a group of people on

0:03:21 > 0:03:25London Bridge. Today we heard more about the attackers themselves.

0:03:25 > 0:03:31Toxicology results were released from the three bodies. A substance

0:03:31 > 0:03:35which is a steroid hormone was found in each of those. What the coroner

0:03:35 > 0:03:39will look at this closely to find out why and what exactly that could

0:03:39 > 0:03:44mean. He also said he will look at Intelligence Services and finding

0:03:44 > 0:03:49out exactly what they knew about these three men. Especially Khurum

0:03:49 > 0:03:53Butt who had been under investigation in 2015 for two years.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57That is going to be a key focus. When does the inquest take place? As

0:03:57 > 0:04:00always is the case, the police investigation needs to conclude

0:04:00 > 0:04:05first, then the first inquest is going to begin at the start of 2019.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08That will focus on the victims. Alsecond one will follow soon after

0:04:08 > 0:04:11that, looking at the attackers themselves.Thank you very much for

0:04:11 > 0:04:14that.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17For decades it was the home of some of the nations best

0:04:17 > 0:04:21loved TV programmes.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25But now, BBC Television Centre, in west London,

0:04:25 > 0:04:28is set to become home for thousands of Londoners.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31The site was sold a few years ago to make way for a housing

0:04:31 > 0:04:35and leisure development.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38But as Tolu Adeoye has been finding out, some of the old magic is set

0:04:38 > 0:04:40to return to the studios too.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43For 50 years, Television Centre in White City was the home of the BBC.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45From Blue Peter, to The Record Breakers.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46Hello again, welcome back to Whistle Test,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48back at TV Centre this week.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50And Old Grey Whistle Test, many classic shows were recorded here.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53It closed five years ago and after years of redevelopment

0:04:53 > 0:04:57it's reopening, now housing nearly 1,000 flats, a gym, shops,

0:04:57 > 0:05:00restaurants and an exclusive members' club, but it is still

0:05:00 > 0:05:02a Television Centre.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05Three refurbished TV studios will be used to record shows,

0:05:05 > 0:05:09including Graham Norton and daytime ITV programmes.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12We've done a lot of upgrade in terms of the wiring

0:05:12 > 0:05:14and all of the technology, the floor, the seating.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16It's been amazing.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20For the architects behind the project, working with such

0:05:20 > 0:05:21an iconic existing building presented challenges,

0:05:21 > 0:05:22but also opportunities.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25We've recreated the original windows using the original design intent

0:05:25 > 0:05:27of these white operable panels within the black frames

0:05:27 > 0:05:29of the static ones.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32We've repositioned and resupported the original Helios statue

0:05:32 > 0:05:36in the middle of the fountain there.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38One of my favourite parts I think is the stage door,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41which is going to be the new entrance for

0:05:41 > 0:05:43all the apartments.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45Actually how we've managed to restore all the original assets.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48But there is quite the price tag if you want to live

0:05:48 > 0:05:50in the TVC building, £650,000 for the cheapest

0:05:50 > 0:05:51one bedroom flat.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Around 6,000 people will eventually be living and working

0:05:54 > 0:05:58among these corridors.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01Many who've bought, the developers say, want to be close

0:06:01 > 0:06:02to broadcasting history.

0:06:02 > 0:06:08Tolu Adeoye, BBC London News.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10Great memories.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13Finally, pedestrians in west London had a lucky escape this week

0:06:13 > 0:06:16when a large block of ice fell from the sky onto a street.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18A security camera caught the moment the block landed in Kew

0:06:18 > 0:06:20on Wednesday morning.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23It narrowly missed a street cleaner.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25The road is under the Heathrow flight path and it's thought

0:06:25 > 0:06:27the ice fell from a plane.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29That's it for now from me, but I'll leave you with

0:06:29 > 0:06:30Chris and the weather.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Was that block of ice a sign of things to

0:06:33 > 0:06:37Was that block of ice a sign of things to come? They call it blue

0:06:37 > 0:06:42ice. I wouldn't want one of those on my head, that is for sure. Cold

0:06:42 > 0:06:46weather tonight of we finish the day like this. In Hackney clear blue

0:06:46 > 0:06:49skies. It's the clear skies allowing temperatures

0:06:50 > 0:06:56Out to the west we have a lot of cloud. That is is key to what is

0:06:56 > 0:06:59coming our way as we look at the forecast in the next 24-hours.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02Temperatures are dropping away at the moment. We will see a widespread

0:07:02 > 0:07:13frost. In the countryside temperatures my yus four -- minus

0:07:13 > 0:07:18four or five. The cloud will move quickly during the morning.

0:07:18 > 0:07:22Temperatures slow to rise. We will see outbreaks of rain moving in. Not

0:07:22 > 0:07:27too heavy. Most will see rain. Temperatures finishing eight degrees

0:07:27 > 0:07:31or so. The second-half of the weekend colder with some sunshine.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33Temperatures about eight degrees for the high.
