0:00:00 > 0:00:016-1 in the end to Tottenham and a game notable for video

0:00:01 > 0:00:13replace, but one that Rochdale fans may not want to watch again.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14Good evening. may not want to watch again.

0:00:14 > 0:00:15I'm Asad Ahmad. may not want to watch again.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Well, if you thought we had severe weather conditions today, it looks

0:00:18 > 0:00:20like it's about to get worse.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23Yet more heavier snow is predicted for tomorrow,

0:00:23 > 0:00:26with at least one major train operator getting their advice

0:00:26 > 0:00:28in early telling commuters not to travel tomorrow

0:00:28 > 0:00:30unless absolutely necessary.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33We'll have a full forecast for you shortly, but first,

0:00:33 > 0:00:40looking at how we've all coped today, here's Tolu Adeoye.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Still this evening, as had happened throughout the day,

0:00:42 > 0:00:46the Beast from the East repeatedly hit the capital.

0:00:46 > 0:00:50Thick snow flurries there one minute quickly disappearing.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53There were tricky journeys and icy roads for those who made it to work

0:00:53 > 0:00:56as they tried to get back home.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00There have been delays.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01Southern Trains have been delayed.

0:01:01 > 0:01:02The bus is delayed.

0:01:02 > 0:01:03Crazy day.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05They clean the windows, we've got too much snow.

0:01:05 > 0:01:10We've been there about four hours.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12I'm not going to go home now because I think

0:01:12 > 0:01:13the trains are too delayed.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16So I'm going to wait for a bit, and work a bit later.

0:01:16 > 0:01:21First thing, Londoners woke up to a blanket of snow.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23In East Dulwich this driver slid down Dog Kennel Hill.

0:01:23 > 0:01:27Buses didn't run on some routes, this one came off the road,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30and those that did run were packed.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33I think snow is going to cause disruption anywhere.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36I understand it being a difficulty, but I think by this point

0:01:36 > 0:01:38you would hope they'd have prepared a bit better for it.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42I mean, it was known ahead of time that it was going to snow,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44they could have done a bit more prep work.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Main routes were driveable, but icy side roads caused problems.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Airports also cancelled flights.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51This was Stansted.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Further out of the capital there was more disruption.

0:01:54 > 0:01:55Chelmsford was eerily quiet.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58No one was going anywhere with bus routes suspended and trains

0:01:58 > 0:01:59delayed or cancelled.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02For those determined to get to work it wasn't just icy

0:02:02 > 0:02:06tracks causing delays.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Due to the weather, they can be frozen shut.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11I've been called to a few of them today.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13With nearly 200 schools closed across Essex,

0:02:13 > 0:02:17many parents had to stay and work from home.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21My daughter was off school today, so I had to stay working at home,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23so we've come out in my lunch break.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Do you think you'll be back at school tomorrow?

0:02:25 > 0:02:27I hope not, but maybe.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Back in central London, these were some of the scenes.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33This is usually a view of the Thames at Blackfriars.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37In the Square Mile it hasn't snowed since 2014.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41There, they worked through the day to grit roads.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43Since Sunday, we've put down about 60 tonnes of grit

0:02:43 > 0:02:46just in the Square Mile, and we've got on average on a daily

0:02:46 > 0:02:5124-hour shift about 150 workers working to do that.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54This time-lapse footage shows London being hit by the snowstorms.

0:02:54 > 0:02:59The bad news for commuters is more snow is forecast.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Tolu is at Victoria Station for us tonight, with some useful travel

0:03:02 > 0:03:03advice for tomorrow.

0:03:03 > 0:03:08Tolu.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11We can seize snow is still on the ground, what's the advice as far as

0:03:11 > 0:03:19travellers concerned? -- we can see that snow is still on the ground.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23Lots of disruption to travel, even tonight at Victoria, cancellations,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27delays. Lots of people onshore when they will make it home. Trains

0:03:27 > 0:03:35running in rush-hour with -- lots of people aren't sure when they will

0:03:35 > 0:03:42make it home. We've had advice from Southern, South Eastern and South

0:03:42 > 0:03:46West trains. They will be running a revised timetable. South-eastern has

0:03:46 > 0:03:52advised some people to work from home where possible. TfL has run a

0:03:52 > 0:03:55decent service. They say they've been able to run the underground

0:03:55 > 0:03:58well enough and bus routes have been running. This is the advice they

0:03:58 > 0:04:02gave about their services tomorrow.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05We're going to have our gritters out on the road system,

0:04:05 > 0:04:07we've got teams overnight making sure that the rails are de-iced,

0:04:07 > 0:04:09that the trains can keep running and so on.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12But I would encourage people to check before you travel,

0:04:12 > 0:04:14because you never know, there could be localised disruption

0:04:14 > 0:04:17to you when you want to go travelling in the morning.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21Sound advice from TfL. These snow showers are quite localised and can

0:04:21 > 0:04:25be quite heavy. It's hard to predict exactly what is going to be

0:04:25 > 0:04:29happening with journeys. The advice is to check well before you travel.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Thank you.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34Other news now, and hundreds of teenagers gathered at a church

0:04:34 > 0:04:36in West London today for the funerals of two friends

0:04:36 > 0:04:39killed by a drunk driver.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Harry Rice, Josh McGuiness and George Wilkinson were struck

0:04:41 > 0:04:45as they walked to a birthday party last month.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48Tonight their parents said their grief is like a "life

0:04:48 > 0:04:53sentence", and they want the driver to be given one too.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Here's Katharine Carpenter.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00A final journey along familiar streets.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02On this, the bleakest of days, friends and strangers in Harefield

0:05:02 > 0:05:06paused to pay their respects.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10These were local boys, and their deaths have been devastating.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14Is an absolute treasure.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16That's the only way I can describe him.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18He was just a treasure, because he was so kind.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22We have our own life sentence now of just pure...

0:05:22 > 0:05:24It's like torture every day.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27That's how I can describe how I feel.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31It's like Groundhog Day every day.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34I just don't know, I don't know what we're going to do.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36The teenagers, described as cheeky and fun loving,

0:05:36 > 0:05:40were mown down by a speeding drunk driver a month ago.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44They were with others on their way to a birthday party.

0:05:44 > 0:05:49Today, hundreds of their friends gathered for their funeral.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Young shoulders carrying a heavy burden.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56A church so packed, some stood outside in the snow.

0:05:56 > 0:06:00Teenagers do get a bad press, but they...

0:06:00 > 0:06:05All their friends, what they've done from the minute of this crash,

0:06:05 > 0:06:09they've arranged and organised events, they've got the whole

0:06:09 > 0:06:16community within a day, they wrote to the Council,

0:06:16 > 0:06:20got the Council to reduce the speed limit.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22They also described the boys who stopped the fleeing

0:06:22 > 0:06:25car driver as heroes, and say from now on their focus

0:06:25 > 0:06:27will be campaigning for tougher sentences for those who kill

0:06:27 > 0:06:29behind the wheel.

0:06:29 > 0:06:35This won't go away, as far as we're concerned.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38We will take this to the highest courts in the land, and then

0:06:38 > 0:06:40to the European courts if need be.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43There has to be justice for the boys.

0:06:43 > 0:06:52Katharine Carpenter, BBC London News.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56Our condolences to the families.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58Scotland Yard, which is investigating allegations of sexual

0:06:58 > 0:07:00assault against the media mogul Harvey Weinstein, says a tenth

0:07:00 > 0:07:01complaint has now been made.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03Officers say it's alleged that the film producer assaulted

0:07:04 > 0:07:05a woman in Westminster in the 1990s.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07Mr Weinstein has always denied having non-consensual

0:07:07 > 0:07:12sex with any woman.

0:07:12 > 0:07:13Back to the snow now.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16And yes, it brings difficulties with travel and keeping yourself warm.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20But most of us would admit - that it's got its upside too -

0:07:20 > 0:07:25and it can bring out our competitive spirit as well.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27Chris Slegg spent the day outside, and teachers, take note

0:07:27 > 0:07:29of what you're about to see first.

0:07:29 > 0:07:33You might want to copy it tomorrow.

0:07:33 > 0:07:34Are you ready?

0:07:34 > 0:07:35CHEERING.

0:07:35 > 0:07:36Staff, are you ready?

0:07:36 > 0:07:38CHEERING.

0:07:38 > 0:07:42Go!

0:07:42 > 0:07:45If snowball fighting was a sport at the Winter Olympics, the children

0:07:45 > 0:07:50at Alleyn Court Prep School in Southend would win the gold.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51They don't believe in snowball bans here.

0:07:51 > 0:07:58In fact, the pupils take on the teachers.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00Well, London's very own Winter Olympics is not just

0:08:00 > 0:08:01about snowball fighting.

0:08:01 > 0:08:05We've got the first snowman World Cup going on here in Regents Park.

0:08:05 > 0:08:06Over there, Team Mexico, and they're taking on,

0:08:07 > 0:08:16to my right, Team GB.

0:08:21 > 0:08:29Look at that! This could be big.It depends how much free time we have.

0:08:29 > 0:08:35It could be a snowman.How are the opposition getting on?

0:08:35 > 0:08:38This is our first snowman ever in the world.

0:08:38 > 0:08:39You see that we aren't experts in constructing snowmen.

0:08:40 > 0:08:41Go!

0:08:41 > 0:08:43Meanwhile, over on Primrose Hill, competition in the luge was intense.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45The champions, though, surely had to be local

0:08:45 > 0:08:47duo Daisy and Misty, whose school had been

0:08:47 > 0:08:49closed for the afternoon.

0:08:49 > 0:08:53We've been doing this together since we were four.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55We've done years of just going into trees and things,

0:08:55 > 0:09:00but now we've mastered it.

0:09:00 > 0:09:04Others, though, certainly haven't.

0:09:04 > 0:09:08No medal there.

0:09:08 > 0:09:09Back at the snowman making competition,

0:09:09 > 0:09:11there are surprise champions.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14The final whistle goes, this is the end product.

0:09:14 > 0:09:24Team Mexico's first ever snowman.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26It was definitely teamwork.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29Why not do something fun on a Wednesday?!

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Fun on, this very snowy Wednesday, has not been in short supply.

0:09:32 > 0:09:39Chris Slegg, BBC London News.

0:09:39 > 0:09:44You can keep across all the latest with us tomorrow morning.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47So let's see if tomorrow might be as much fun for those people.

0:09:47 > 0:09:47Ben has the forecast, and details about Storm Emma.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Ben has the forecast, and details about Storm Emma.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52Good evening. There could be some more snow on the way, not only

0:09:52 > 0:09:56tomorrow but into Friday as well. Quite a few snow showers passed

0:09:56 > 0:10:01across the capital. As we go through the evening, still some of those

0:10:01 > 0:10:06snow showers are coming in from the east. Pretty brisk wind, it doesn't

0:10:06 > 0:10:10feel pleasant if you are out there through the early hours of Thursday

0:10:10 > 0:10:17morning. Temperature wise we are looking at overnight lows of -4, -5,

0:10:17 > 0:10:22maybe -7 or minus eight. Not as cold as last night but it will feel

0:10:22 > 0:10:28bitter if you happen to be out and about. Tomorrow, a Met Office Yellow

0:10:28 > 0:10:31Warning for some snow to come at times through the day. Pretty windy

0:10:31 > 0:10:35conditions as well. As we go through the data you can see a largely fine

0:10:35 > 0:10:40start. Not as many showers as we had this morning but then an increasing

0:10:40 > 0:10:44chance we will see some areas of snow pushing up from the south.

0:10:44 > 0:10:48Probably nothing desperately heavy but we could see a fuse centimetres

0:10:48 > 0:10:54in places. Those temperatures will struggle to get much above freezing.

0:10:54 > 0:10:58Some spots will stay below. Add on the strength of the wind and it will

0:10:58 > 0:11:03feel subzero. The potential for something a bit milder as
