0:00:12 > 0:00:15Good evening, I'm Asad Ahmad.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Tonight, train passengers have risked their lives after taking

0:00:17 > 0:00:20matters into their own hands when they became stranded

0:00:20 > 0:00:25on a train in Lewisham.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Passengers on the Southeastern service fed-up with being stuck

0:00:27 > 0:00:30on the train started to jump off and onto live tracks.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Police were called and the power was urgently turned off.

0:00:33 > 0:00:37Here's Ayshea Buksh.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39A packed Southeast train out of London is stranded.

0:00:39 > 0:00:45Passengers wait for three hours just outside Lewisham

0:00:45 > 0:00:47station but, for some, it's too much.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50They manage to open a door and walk out onto the tracks.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52The power lines are turned off and, as a result,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54more trains are held up.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57# Happy birthday to you!

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Spirits inside this train to Orpington are kept up

0:01:00 > 0:01:04by chocolate and singing.

0:01:04 > 0:01:08So we got on the train at about 6:30pm from London, Charing Cross.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Going ahead as normal and I think we're just outside New Cross now.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13We've been here for about two and half hours.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Elsewhere on the train network, passengers struggled to leave

0:01:15 > 0:01:16the centre of London.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Southwest Trains said they'd stopped running trains

0:01:18 > 0:01:22out of Waterloo by 8pm.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Well, it's nearly half-past eight at Waterloo station.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27The station is now officially closed but there are still quite a lot

0:01:27 > 0:01:30of passengers on the concourse wanting to travel and there are

0:01:30 > 0:01:35still a few trains about to depart.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39I also find Abdul, who's on his own and can't get home.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Did you know about the trains stopping?

0:01:42 > 0:01:45I don't suppose you're on social media?

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Thank you very much.

0:01:55 > 0:02:04in London overnight.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09Big problems at Waterloo station. The train operators said they would

0:02:09 > 0:02:14not be running trains beyond a certain time. The message did not

0:02:14 > 0:02:18get through to everyone. I spoke to people who had come back from

0:02:18 > 0:02:22holiday or had to take people to hospital. They may have been on

0:02:22 > 0:02:27business trips are struggling to get back. As for that gentleman, he did

0:02:27 > 0:02:33get help. There were station staff out in force on platforms. With

0:02:33 > 0:02:37regards to Lewisham and people jumping off the trains, that was

0:02:37 > 0:02:42really dangerous, wasn't it?They were walking on live tracks, the

0:02:42 > 0:02:48operator points out. If you follow the south-east train Twitter feed,

0:02:48 > 0:02:53there was a list of warning. Stay inside the train to do not leave and

0:02:53 > 0:02:58do not move. Power has been restored. All the trapped trains

0:02:58 > 0:03:04have been moved on through to Lewisham, Orpington Way. If people

0:03:04 > 0:03:07are on trains they will be moving and they should be getting home.

0:03:07 > 0:03:12Some people may not have made the last train home. Very limited trains

0:03:12 > 0:03:17out to Kent and Sussex this evening. Tomorrow, there are planned

0:03:17 > 0:03:20engineering works across the network. South Eastern trains told

0:03:20 > 0:03:25me if there is bad weather against some of the rail replacement buses

0:03:25 > 0:03:29will not be working tomorrow. The advice is to check before people

0:03:29 > 0:03:36leave home.

0:06:50 > 0:06:56getting milder but we may get rain later in the day. Not much falling

0:06:56 > 0:07:01out of the sky. There will be a few breaks in the cloud and the wind is
