0:00:11 > 0:00:12Good evening.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15I'm Riz Lateef.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18First tonight - how London taxpayers could end up footing

0:00:18 > 0:00:21the bill for extra policing at West Ham home games.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23It's after crowd trouble and pitch invasions during Saturday's match

0:00:23 > 0:00:25at the London Stadium.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27There's been widespread condemnation by all the authorities involved -

0:00:27 > 0:00:30and it's once again raised questions about safety at the ground.

0:00:30 > 0:00:40Here's our Political Correspondent Karl Mercer.

0:00:42 > 0:00:46We have got a supporter on the pitch here and Mark Noble is doing his

0:00:46 > 0:00:50utmost to get him off the pitch.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51When your captain has to do this...

0:00:51 > 0:00:56When fans are able to do this in the middle of a game...

0:00:56 > 0:01:01Finally, David Sullivan has been encouraged to leave his seat.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03And when angry supporters are able to do this

0:01:03 > 0:01:04towards your directors' box...

0:01:04 > 0:01:07You know all is not well at your club...

0:01:07 > 0:01:09You also know questions will be asked about safety at your ground.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12I have been here since Friday.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Tom Odom flew over from Texas for the game....

0:01:15 > 0:01:17His first at West Ham.

0:01:17 > 0:01:24After we got the first goal, everyone went insane. It was pretty

0:01:24 > 0:01:31upsetting for me. I wanted to enjoy it and it put a bad taste in my

0:01:31 > 0:01:32mouth after the game.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34It was Theo Wenting from Holland's first game.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37too.

0:01:37 > 0:01:45It is not good. If you want to make a statement, but not a pitch

0:01:45 > 0:01:50invasion.I have never seen things like this.It does not look like it

0:01:50 > 0:01:56will go away. From everything I have seen online, a lot of people seem to

0:01:56 > 0:02:00want to protest, take on other forms of protest, people are openly

0:02:00 > 0:02:06discussing how can we try to make the lives of our owners as

0:02:06 > 0:02:09uncomfortable as possible.

0:02:09 > 0:02:10Today, condemnation from all of the authorities involved....

0:02:10 > 0:02:15From, the club, the council, the stadium owners...

0:02:16 > 0:02:20I am told it is not about the fans getting onto the pitch but the

0:02:20 > 0:02:23amount of time it took to get them off. We are likely to see a

0:02:23 > 0:02:27different operation the next time West Ham play here. We are also

0:02:27 > 0:02:32likely to see a different policing operation, with up to 100 police

0:02:32 > 0:02:36officers stationed within the ground. Under the terms that West

0:02:36 > 0:02:43Ham have secured for the stadium, it will not be the club who played for

0:02:43 > 0:02:45it, it would be the taxpayer. It could cost up to £50,000.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48That is yet to be decided....

0:02:48 > 0:02:49So is the punishment that West Ham will be given....

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Likely to be a large fine and a warning that scenes

0:02:52 > 0:02:53like these can't be repeated.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56The Mayor of London is demanding action from social media companies

0:02:56 > 0:02:57to tackle hate speech.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Talking at a major technology conference in the US -

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Sadiq Khan also shared some of the abusive and racist messages

0:03:02 > 0:03:05he's received online.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07Marc Ashdown has been listening to what he had to say.

0:03:07 > 0:03:15Why has the Mayor decided to reveal them now?

0:03:15 > 0:03:20Well, he said a small number of companies have huge power over how

0:03:20 > 0:03:24information is shared. He is talking about Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28He said they have created huge benefits for society but they can be

0:03:28 > 0:03:32platforms for hatred and fake information and there have been

0:03:32 > 0:03:37accusations of meddling in referendums and elections. If few

0:03:37 > 0:03:43hours ago in this speech, he shared a couple of personal messages he has

0:03:43 > 0:03:48received, one red, deport all Muslims and make London white

0:03:48 > 0:03:51again... He had death threats as well.

0:04:00 > 0:04:05He said he could go on and on but he did not want to paint himself as a

0:04:05 > 0:04:08victim. He was worried about the influence it might have, especially

0:04:08 > 0:04:12on young people.

0:04:12 > 0:04:18Ask yourself this, what happens when young boys and girls from minority

0:04:18 > 0:04:24backgrounds see this kind of thing on their timelines? Or experience it

0:04:24 > 0:04:32themselves? Or some think about becoming a politician?The

0:04:32 > 0:04:36implication that they might think twice. What is his message to these

0:04:36 > 0:04:41big companies? He wants them to do more. He says the messages are not

0:04:41 > 0:04:44removed quickly enough and they said it must be possible with all the

0:04:44 > 0:04:49resources to go further and faster. Sadiq Khan accuse governments and

0:04:49 > 0:04:53politicians around the world of a dereliction of duty and of sitting

0:04:53 > 0:04:59on their hands while this big revolution took off around them. In

0:04:59 > 0:05:11Germany, there are hefty fines. I am told

0:05:14 > 0:05:18this trip was all about banging the drum for tech relations but it

0:05:18 > 0:05:19sounds like it was a bit more about banging heads together to improve

0:05:19 > 0:05:20online policing.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23Next: an advert urging entrepreneurs in the capital to relocate

0:05:23 > 0:05:24to Normandy after Brexit - has been banned

0:05:24 > 0:05:25from the underground.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27Transport for London says it breaches its guidelines on public

0:05:27 > 0:05:29sensitivity and controversy.

0:05:29 > 0:05:31The company behind the campaign says they were just offering

0:05:31 > 0:05:32businesses here a Plan B.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33Emma North reports.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35It's not London, but it's got stunning views,

0:05:35 > 0:05:36a great quality of life...

0:05:36 > 0:05:38And some delicious soft cheeses.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40But if you're an entrepreneur worried about Brexit,

0:05:40 > 0:05:44Normandy wants to give your business a new home.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46A Norman conquest of the Underground had been planned,

0:05:46 > 0:05:48a series of posters containing a little bit of cheek

0:05:48 > 0:05:52and rather a lot of charm.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54They spoke of great opportunities and good lunches for anyone,

0:05:54 > 0:05:56British or French, worried about what happens

0:05:56 > 0:06:00when the UK leads the EU.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03TfL said "non".

0:06:03 > 0:06:05TfL said that they stopped the adverts because they had

0:06:05 > 0:06:08breached their guidelines on public sensitivity and controversy.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13But the banning of a few posters seems a drop in the deluge of wooing

0:06:13 > 0:06:14that French businesses and regions seem to be doing to get

0:06:14 > 0:06:20people back across the Channel.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22The ban on the adverts brought the campaign

0:06:22 > 0:06:24a different kind of publicity.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26But Normandy, it seems, isn't the only area of France promising

0:06:26 > 0:06:29a bright future post-Brexit.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31Many representatives of cities like Lille,

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Nantes and Marseille are coming to London to meet British

0:06:34 > 0:06:35entrepreneurs or French entrepreneurs who have British

0:06:35 > 0:06:36companies here in London.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38And basically, they're offering them financial aid

0:06:38 > 0:06:47to set up in their city.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49Which could sound reassuring to the 200,000 French

0:06:49 > 0:06:50people living in London.

0:06:50 > 0:06:56So is this Normandy trying to steal British talent?

0:06:56 > 0:06:58TRANSLATION: We were not being opportunistic,

0:06:58 > 0:06:59we were simply trying

0:06:59 > 0:07:02to give British men and women a foothold in the European Union.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05We are offering them a planned B which gives them access

0:07:05 > 0:07:08to the single market.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12Our streets are no strangers to ads tempting us to mainland Europe now.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14This poster promises a less expensive life in Amsterdam.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17But whether a hop to a rural idyll in Normandy will be enough

0:07:17 > 0:07:19for Londoners is another matter.

0:07:19 > 0:07:26At least the weather will make it feel like home.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28It's a new app-based minibus service that's supposed

0:07:28 > 0:07:30to reduce congestion.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32But some residents in Greenwich living along its route claim

0:07:32 > 0:07:33it's doing anything but.

0:07:33 > 0:07:40Our transport correspondent Tom Edwards explains.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Four minibuses an hour now use this residential street

0:07:42 > 0:07:46in Greenwich as their route.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48There's also what's called a virtual bus stop here,

0:07:48 > 0:07:52where passengers can catch the buses.

0:07:52 > 0:07:53But some residents say they don't want them

0:07:53 > 0:07:56and the buses block the roads and they weren't consulted.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59I don't think this road is suitable for, you know,

0:07:59 > 0:08:01for that type of traffic to be running up and down

0:08:02 > 0:08:03on a regular basis.

0:08:03 > 0:08:04It's a quiet road.

0:08:04 > 0:08:05Two cars come down here from opposite directions

0:08:05 > 0:08:08now, and cars have to reverse and go back.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11Starting to run buses up it is just crazy.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14It's never been a bus route, it's a side road -

0:08:14 > 0:08:16to suddenly be used for a commercial purpose is...

0:08:16 > 0:08:20It's just beyond me, it really is.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22My main objection is, we get enough traffic

0:08:22 > 0:08:27here in the morning.

0:08:27 > 0:08:31And to have a bus ply this route, I don't think it's the best thing.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33And where they've actually put the bus stop on this road,

0:08:33 > 0:08:36I would say isn't the best place.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Chariot is carrying out a year-long trial in the capital and is backed

0:08:39 > 0:08:42by the car giant Ford.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45Passengers can call up the bus via an app.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47The fare is £2.60.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49It's meant to reduce congestion and offer transport on demand

0:08:49 > 0:08:54in underserved areas.

0:08:54 > 0:08:59TfL says it does look at licenses to make sure the routes are safe.

0:08:59 > 0:09:02But residents want TfL to intervene.

0:09:02 > 0:09:02This

0:09:02 > 0:09:04TfL needs to say, "This is where you go, AND this

0:09:04 > 0:09:06is where you can put bus stops."

0:09:06 > 0:09:08They need to do the risk assessment because it's

0:09:08 > 0:09:11a Transport for London issue, it's not a private operator's issue.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14Chariot says it has obtained all the relevant licenses and has

0:09:14 > 0:09:16consulted with the boroughs, and its buses will only wait

0:09:16 > 0:09:18for a minute to pick up passengers.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20But as technology changes transport in the capital,

0:09:20 > 0:09:21there are those that now feel they're ignored.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26Tom Edwards, BBC London News.

0:09:29 > 0:09:33I'll say good night now and leave you with Louise Lear for a look

0:09:33 > 0:09:33ahead to the weather.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43I was not overly impressed with the forecast today. It was miserable

0:09:43 > 0:09:51this morning and this photograph sums it up. A grey drab Wembley, but

0:09:51 > 0:09:55I'm pleased to say that the rain has eased away, a few bits and pieces

0:09:55 > 0:10:00remaining. We will see this guy is clear from the west and we will see

0:10:00 > 0:10:04the lowest values in Buckinghamshire. It may well start

0:10:04 > 0:10:08cloudy for many of you, but we are optimistic tomorrow, the cloud

0:10:08 > 0:10:12should start to break and as we go into the afternoon, there will be

0:10:12 > 0:10:24sunny spells. It will also be dry in comparison to the weather today. A

0:10:24 > 0:10:28better day, probably for some of us, not a bad day at all. Between nine

0:10:28 > 0:10:29and 11 degrees. Look at Wednesday. We start with clear blue skies and

0:10:29 > 0:10:33sunshine but more importantly, the winds will swing around to a

0:10:33 > 0:10:37southerly direction and with the sunshine, at this time of year, in

0:10:37 > 0:10:42the breeze, those temperatures will respond and it will feel pleasant,

0:10:42 > 0:10:46maybe highs of 14 or 15 degrees, it will they like spring, but do not

0:10:46 > 0:10:50get used to it, the milder air that we are expecting will be replaced by

0:10:50 > 0:11:01something cool yet again. We look
