:01:12. > :01:13.and weapons and other bombs with instructions from an extremist
:01:14. > :01:19.Islamist website. On questioning, this is what he said. I realised on
:01:20. > :01:24.the tube it was going to Stratford. I thought it would be a good time to
:01:25. > :01:30.leave my bag for a prank. What was said in court? Damon Smith
:01:31. > :01:34.was found guilty of possession with a substance with an explosive intent
:01:35. > :01:38.and although he had an interest in Islam he was not motivated by
:01:39. > :01:43.terrorism. The judge said: I am driven to treat you as a dangerous
:01:44. > :01:47.offender and the seriousness of what you did cannot be overstated. He
:01:48. > :01:52.spoke of the recent terrorist attack in Manchester and the background of
:01:53. > :01:58.fear in which we all live. We heard from his difence how he has an
:01:59. > :02:03.autistic spectrum disorder and the barrister said he was a vulnerable
:02:04. > :02:09.man. Earlier, the BBC spoke to Damon Smith's mother about this. Could you
:02:10. > :02:12.try to be a bit more lenient because of his Asperger's. He has never been
:02:13. > :02:17.in trouble with the police before or anything like that. He's got a good
:02:18. > :02:21.character. He is just a vulnerable little boy who needs a bit of help,
:02:22. > :02:25.not prison. Well, Damon Smith is to serve 15
:02:26. > :02:32.years at a young offender's institution with an extended period
:02:33. > :02:35.of five years on licence. The head of the Met's counter-terrorism team
:02:36. > :02:38.said that while there is no connection with Greenwich and
:02:39. > :02:39.Manchester, it brings into reality how devastating this could have

:06:35. > :06:47.strikes you is the intensity and the prejudice that people face.
