:00:29. > :00:35.Sarah Harris is there for us this lunchtime.
:00:36. > :00:41.Millions of visitors come to Camden market every year. This is what some
:00:42. > :00:47.of them would have seen just after midnight last night. The central
:00:48. > :00:57.market Hall, four stories, three of them on fire. That was last night.
:00:58. > :00:59.This is a hub, the centre also of hundreds of small businesses, 30
:01:00. > :01:05.stallholders were based in this market Hall. I spoke to one do stay
:01:06. > :01:06.few minutes after she was taken to what was left of her school by
:01:07. > :01:09.firefighters. They called me at 12
:01:10. > :01:11.o'clock and I was sleeping. I thought it was an emergency call
:01:12. > :01:16.so I took the phone up And she said, "Camden
:01:17. > :01:19.Lock is on fire". How long have you had it?
:01:20. > :01:22.It's a silver jewellery stall. Probably 15 years.
:01:23. > :01:26.15 years. Will you be able
:01:27. > :01:29.to retrieve anything? Everything gone,
:01:30. > :01:45.that is what I saw now. London Fire Brigade reasonably happy
:01:46. > :01:50.with how they have managed to tackle this fire. They were here just after
:01:51. > :01:57.12 o'clock, within two hours, they contained it. Behind me, they are
:01:58. > :02:00.trying to save what stock they can to stallholders. Obviously, there is
:02:01. > :02:06.a lot of flammable material, which is why so many people have lost so
:02:07. > :02:09.much. Most of the market remains open, and an investigation is
:02:10. > :02:13.underway into what caused the fire. Sarah, thank you very much.
:02:14. > :02:15.Zane Gbangbola was just seven when he died in his home.
:02:16. > :02:18.It was during the Chertsey floods, three years ago.
:02:19. > :02:20.An inquest said it was because of petrol pumps
:02:21. > :02:23.being used in the basement to remove floodwater.
:02:24. > :02:27.His parents have always disagreed blaming a landfill site
:02:28. > :02:30.by their home for releasing toxic fumes when it flooded.
:02:31. > :02:33.Now, this programme has seen letters from the council offering
:02:34. > :02:35.to pay others nearby, to protect their homes
:02:36. > :02:39.from the landfill. Alex Bushill reports.
:02:40. > :02:42.As you can see from Zane's pictures, a very beautiful boy.
:02:43. > :02:51.He was always smiling, always having fun.
:02:52. > :02:53.Our life is destroyed as you would expect,
:02:54. > :03:04.For Zane's family, there are still so many questions.
:03:05. > :03:14.It may not look it, but this is a historic landfill site.
:03:15. > :03:16.Now, Zane's parents have always maintained that there their son died
:03:17. > :03:20.as a result of toxic gases released from there when the family home
:03:21. > :03:22.and other properties here in Chertsey were flooded in 2014.
:03:23. > :03:29.But that theory was rejected by an inquest last year,
:03:30. > :03:32.which ruled instead that Zane died from carbon monoxide poisoning
:03:33. > :03:34.from a petrol pump his parents were using in the basement
:03:35. > :03:45.Surrey County Council has written to nearby properties.
:03:46. > :03:50.Specifically replacing any sealed air bricks that might prevent any
:03:51. > :03:53.The letter raises concerns for any properties in proximity to landfill,
:03:54. > :03:55.advising them that there will be migrating landfill gases.
:03:56. > :03:59.That will build up beneath properties.
:04:00. > :04:03.This is essentially what we've been saying all along.
:04:04. > :04:10.The letter came after Zane's inquest.
:04:11. > :04:14.And of course, now it's quite clear that what we've been saying has been
:04:15. > :04:23.In response, Surrey County Council released a statement.
:04:24. > :04:36.And the local District Council also underlined how this
:04:37. > :04:40.was merely a precaution, relating to potential risks
:04:41. > :04:43.from landfill in general, and not specifically this site.
:04:44. > :04:46.It is of no comfort to Zane's father who is now calling
:04:47. > :04:53.for an independent public inquiry for the answers he still seeks.
:04:54. > :04:56.Police investigating an acid attack in Beckton last month

:05:04. > :05:06.and neck injuries when the acid was thrown through their car window
:05:07. > :05:12.24-year-old John Tomlin handed himself in to an East London
:05:13. > :05:15.He's been looking after 2,500 acres for over
:05:16. > :05:18.30 years, but now the Richmond Park gamekeeper is retiring.
:05:19. > :05:22.He's written a book about his time there,
:05:23. > :05:26.calling it the best job in the world.
:05:27. > :05:28.Gareth Furby's been to meet him, and be warned,

:05:34. > :05:36.After 30 years, John Bartram is saying goodbye to
:05:37. > :05:43.Best job in the world. It's a job that everybody wanted.
:05:44. > :05:47.John Bartram has spent most of his life as gamekeeper in Richmond Park.
:05:48. > :05:50.All 2500 acres of it. And no one knows the place better.
:05:51. > :06:00.Every day, he's checked on the 600 deer and every year searched
:06:01. > :06:04.I have done it sometimes and the baby thinks I'm mum.
:06:05. > :06:10.And I've gone to walk away and he's running behind me.
:06:11. > :06:13.But as well as new life, John has had to deal
:06:14. > :06:19.While we were filming, another call came in.
:06:20. > :06:22.What's that? A dead deer.
:06:23. > :06:24.If you find the sight of dead animals upsetting
:06:25. > :06:29.But for John, this is just part of the job.
:06:30. > :06:33.I don't know what's happened here. Could have been hit by a car.
:06:34. > :06:37.I mean, there's been times when it's been hit by a car
:06:38. > :06:42.still alive but it's in serious trouble.
:06:43. > :06:45.And it needs dealing with. So you might have to shoot it.
:06:46. > :06:48.And as gamekeeper, John was also tasked with the annual cull
:06:49. > :06:51.where for three months of the year selected deer are shot to keep
:06:52. > :07:01.You're going for the worst animal every time.
:07:02. > :07:03.You're looking for one that, you think, in the natural world,
:07:04. > :07:07.And until the policy change, John would prepare venison
:07:08. > :07:09.meat from the cull, for Buckingham Palace
:07:10. > :07:16.They would all get a free haunch, which was a back
:07:17. > :07:19.leg to the first rib. No one gets a free haunch now.
:07:20. > :07:21.Tony Blair stopped it, and the Labour Party.

:07:25. > :07:27.Some things may have changed, but in many ways, Richmond Park
