:00:14. > :00:16.Welcome to BBC London News. - so it's goodbye from me -

:00:17. > :00:19.A 15-year-old boy has been killed in a stabbing in Croydon.

:00:20. > :00:21.He's the second teenager to be stabbed to death

:00:22. > :00:27.Detectives have launched a murder investigation today.

:00:28. > :00:33.Sonja Jessup has the latest from Thornton Heath.

:00:34. > :00:42.Yet another police cordon in London, yet another young life lost to knife

:00:43. > :00:46.crime, this one a schoolboy, just 15 years old. This latest stabbing

:00:47. > :00:51.happened here in Thornton Heath late last night. Police and paramedics

:00:52. > :00:54.rushed down here but could not say the teenager, he was pronounced dead

:00:55. > :00:57.just before midnight. Local residents told me they are sick of

:00:58. > :01:03.the violence and fear for their families. These are young men and

:01:04. > :01:06.they have to go out and enjoy themselves, work, go to football,

:01:07. > :01:10.whatever they want to do with their friends. They are supposed to be

:01:11. > :01:14.able to do that and come home safely, but it is not happening. It

:01:15. > :01:18.is like we are living in the wild west around here now. I was speaking

:01:19. > :01:23.to a guy in the cafe and he said there have been about 12 stabbings

:01:24. > :01:28.in the last three weeks. It is madness, it is silly what they are

:01:29. > :01:32.doing to one another. Now I can see lots of changes and it is hurtful

:01:33. > :01:39.really because a lot of it seems like black gangs and they are

:01:40. > :01:44.fighting against each other. Why? I don't know. The murder of the

:01:45. > :01:48.15-year-old comes just 24 hours after another stabbing, a

:01:49. > :01:51.19-year-old man killed on Old Kent Road in south-east London. Police

:01:52. > :01:53.have not named the 15-year-old victim here and so far no arrests

:01:54. > :01:58.victim here and so far no arrests have been made.

:01:59. > :02:01.The Home Secretary has backed the use of stop and search to tackle

:02:02. > :02:05.Writing in The Times, Amber Rudd said she supports police

:02:06. > :02:07.using stop and search to also deal with other offences,

:02:08. > :02:14.Yesterday the Met Commissioner Cressida Dick told the BBC she's

:02:15. > :02:20.The London Fire Brigade has drafted in 60 counsellors to help treat

:02:21. > :02:23.traumatised firefighters who tackled the blaze at Grenfell Tower.

:02:24. > :02:26.The figure is more than ten times the number of counsellors

:02:27. > :02:32.Crew involved in the rescue operation have described seeing

:02:33. > :02:38.The husband of a woman who's been imprisoned in Iran says

:02:39. > :02:41.he won't bring their daughter back to London without

:02:42. > :02:45.Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe from Hampstead was arrested

:02:46. > :02:48.in Tehran last April after visiting family.

:02:49. > :02:51.Their two-year-old daughter is able to return to the UK.

:02:52. > :02:54.But her father Richard says he had promised his wife

:02:55. > :03:06.Now, when a British Paralympian was forced to wet herself on a train

:03:07. > :03:09.journey, she was given a government promise that that would never happen

:03:10. > :03:14.Nearly a year on and Anne Wafula-Strike from Harlow says that

:03:15. > :03:27.I am a Paralympian, I have an MBE, but last year I was forced

:03:28. > :03:30.to wet myself on a train because the accessible

:03:31. > :03:37.It was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life.

:03:38. > :03:40.Recent research suggests as many as 40% of restaurants and 30%

:03:41. > :03:44.of shopping centres don't have disabled loos.

:03:45. > :03:49.The Equality Act states, businesses have a legal duty to make

:03:50. > :03:54.reasonable adjustments to accommodate them.

:03:55. > :03:58.And despite promises from the Rail Minister that no one

:03:59. > :04:03.will go through what I went through, it is still happening.

:04:04. > :04:07.Virgin Trains has since had to apologise to passenger Chris.

:04:08. > :04:10.I booked a journey to Birmingham six weeks in advance

:04:11. > :04:13.and they knew I was coming, but I found the toilet was out

:04:14. > :04:16.of order when I got on the train and I ended up wetting myself

:04:17. > :04:24.So I have decided to go to the Rail Minister

:04:25. > :04:28.He tells me they are working on an action plan to

:04:29. > :04:32.I am hoping when people see the accessibility action plan

:04:33. > :04:36.they will see in it a range of ideas that not just makes sure that

:04:37. > :04:39.passengers get a better service on the day, but that we can work

:04:40. > :04:43.more tactically and more strategically to make sure that more

:04:44. > :04:48.toilets are in service on trains in the first place.

:04:49. > :04:53.The action plan is due to be rolled out later this summer,

:04:54. > :04:57.but it is not clear yet exactly what it will contain.

:04:58. > :05:00.Earlier this year a government committee recommended changing

:05:01. > :05:03.places toilets should be made compulsory in all buildings

:05:04. > :05:10.So far, no legislation has been put in place to make that happen.

:05:11. > :05:13.So it seems for the time being some disabled people

:05:14. > :05:27.Now, what do Ed Sheeran, Bob Geldof and Jessie J have in common?

:05:28. > :05:29.Well, they started out busking on the Tube!

:05:30. > :05:31.Now London Underground is giving other budding musicians

:05:32. > :05:38.They'll have to impress a panel of expert judges

:05:39. > :05:43.Pass that and they'll get the chance to play to thousands of commuters.

:05:44. > :05:50.Nearly five million journeys are made on London's Underground

:05:51. > :05:53.every day, so it is no surprise the musicians want to get

:05:54. > :05:56.a license to busk to be heard by as many people as possible.

:05:57. > :05:59.Transport for London don't just give out those licenses,

:06:00. > :06:07.they hold a proper audition, so I'm with one of the people

:06:08. > :06:09.who were successful last time round, Nicola Hogg.

:06:10. > :06:13.The audition process was very much like any

:06:14. > :06:16.audition that I have been to before, scary.

:06:17. > :06:19.You really want that thing and you put your heart on the table

:06:20. > :06:23.and you are kind of like hoping that you want to get it.

:06:24. > :06:25.Yeah, scary but exciting at the same time.

:06:26. > :06:29.Definitely because I love music and this was an amazing opportunity

:06:30. > :06:32.to play on the Underground and busk and go out every day

:06:33. > :06:38.Busking is amazing and to me it means opportunity,

:06:39. > :06:42.it gives you that opportunity to go out and share your music.

:06:43. > :06:45.Do you manage to make a lot of money doing it as well?

:06:46. > :06:49.I make enough to live and, yeah, just keep progressing.

:06:50. > :06:53.Thank you, Nicola, enjoy your experience.

:06:54. > :06:57.The auditions are only held once every two years.

:06:58. > :06:59.Applications are open, they close this Sunday,

:07:00. > :07:07.and then the auditions will take place later this month.

:07:08. > :07:11.The Thames Clipper boat service will be extended to Gravesend next

:07:12. > :07:18.from the town's pontoon before being taken to central London

:07:19. > :07:22.during a total journey time of one hour and ten minutes.

:07:23. > :07:27.Passengers will be asked to fill in a survey about the service becoming

:07:28. > :07:31.permanent. Highbury and Islington Station

:07:32. > :07:33.was forced to close earlier today after heavy rain

:07:34. > :07:35.flooded its ticket hall. Passengers were told trains weren't

:07:36. > :07:37.stopping at the north London Station while work was done

:07:38. > :07:39.to clear the water. The station eventually

:07:40. > :07:45.reopened at around midday. Well, it has not been an especially

:07:46. > :07:52.pleasant day so far. We have had grey skies

:07:53. > :07:55.and scenes like this. There has been a lot

:07:56. > :07:58.of rain around on all our Weather Watchers' pictures today,

:07:59. > :08:00.showing puddles, raindrops. And heavy enough to cause

:08:01. > :08:03.a few problems as well. We've had a little bit of localised

:08:04. > :08:05.flooding here and there. This afternoon it is going to stay

:08:06. > :08:08.rather wet and rather cool. The Met Office has a yellow weather

:08:09. > :08:11.warning in place until tonight You can see it moving

:08:12. > :08:17.through, you may get And a northerly breeze as well,

:08:18. > :08:23.so with the cloud and the rain, So really not good for

:08:24. > :08:31.the middle of August. Overnight tonight rest

:08:32. > :08:34.assured that the rain Behind that some clearer

:08:35. > :08:39.spells so by dawn, Temperatures between 11

:08:40. > :08:43.and 13 degrees Celsius. So for tomorrow morning a much

:08:44. > :08:46.better start to the day, some breaks in the cloud,

:08:47. > :08:48.so brighter spells and some A bit more cloud perhaps

:08:49. > :08:53.in the afternoon, the risk of a shower, but most places

:08:54. > :08:56.managing to stay dry. It is going to feel pleasantly warm

:08:57. > :08:58.in the sunshine as well. The temperatures making

:08:59. > :09:00.a bit of a recovery It stays in the same vein really,

:09:01. > :09:07.not so much in the way of rain around and still the risk

:09:08. > :09:10.of a shower, but some brighter spells and temperatures

:09:11. > :09:14.staying in the low 20s. Riz will be here with our

:09:15. > :09:19.6:30 evening programme. But for now, from us all,

:09:20. > :09:43.a very good afternoon. The second half, Jermaine,

:09:44. > :09:43.very much... ..this season,

:09:44. > :09:45.the whole game in full It's been a knockout day

:09:46. > :09:48.in the Premier League. The second half, Jermaine,

:09:49. > :09:55.very much...
