:00:13. > :00:14.Hello and good afternoon from BBC London News.

:00:15. > :00:20.Our top story this lunchtime: Ten people have been injured

:00:21. > :00:23.after a double decker bus crashed into a kitchen showroom

:00:24. > :00:31.near Clapham Junction station this morning.

:00:32. > :00:33.Three of them were taken to hospital, including

:00:34. > :00:36.told a nurse he blacked out before the crash.

:00:37. > :00:40.Ayshea, there were two people trapped on the top deck

:00:41. > :00:52.Yes, that is right. If you look over my shoulder you can probably see the

:00:53. > :00:56.bus is still lodged inside the shop on Lavender Hill, not far from

:00:57. > :01:01.Clapham Junction station and it is still cordoned off to the traffic

:01:02. > :01:05.and the public. Just before seven o'clock this morning the bus veered

:01:06. > :01:10.off the street and into the shop front of the kitchen design showroom

:01:11. > :01:14.and two women were trapped on board the bus on the top deck. There were

:01:15. > :01:22.ten passengers also on the bus and one of them said what he saw.

:01:23. > :01:28.There was an overhang and it started coming into the bus and entered a

:01:29. > :01:35.window and crushing the bus on the top floor. It went maybe four or

:01:36. > :01:39.five seats deep before the bus came to a stop. There was a lot of

:01:40. > :01:43.screaming from passengers on the bus. There was a lady in the front

:01:44. > :01:48.right seed and you could only see the upper half of her body. She was

:01:49. > :01:52.screaming for help and there was blood.

:01:53. > :01:59.Ten passengers were treated at the scene and those two women were

:02:00. > :02:06.rescued by London Fire Brigade. One of them spoke to us about how they

:02:07. > :02:10.did it. I carried on all of our front line fire appliances and our

:02:11. > :02:13.special rescue units have a variety of tools and we used a number of

:02:14. > :02:19.those instruments to make safe space to get the passengers out. Have you

:02:20. > :02:25.been able to find out any more about how this happen? An eyewitness has

:02:26. > :02:29.claimed the bus driver lost consciousness and had some sort of

:02:30. > :02:35.fit and that is why he lost control of the bus, but that has not been

:02:36. > :02:38.verified. Transport for London are investigating and London Fire

:02:39. > :02:43.Brigade have been on board all morning doing their own

:02:44. > :02:47.investigation. The shop owners, a German company, said no one was in

:02:48. > :02:50.the shop at the time because it had not opened, but their thoughts are

:02:51. > :02:53.with the driver and all the passengers who were injured.

:02:54. > :02:56.The government has said it won't be providing the London Fire Brigade

:02:57. > :02:59.with more money after it asked for help in buying extra equipment.

:03:00. > :03:02.The request was made in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire

:03:03. > :03:04.and included new breathing apparatus and longer ladders.

:03:05. > :03:09.Our Political Correspondent Karl Mercer reports.

:03:10. > :03:12.The Grenfell fire led to calls for London's fire

:03:13. > :03:17.It had to borrow an aerial ladder from Surrey and a drone from Kent

:03:18. > :03:22.London's fire commissioner then drew up a list of new equipment

:03:23. > :03:26.The Mayor has said he'll raid savings to find the six million

:03:27. > :03:29.pounds needed but wants the government to cover the cost.

:03:30. > :03:42.I have had an initial response from the Home Secretary which I regret to

:03:43. > :03:50.say is not encouraging and stresses it is a matter for the GLA to manage

:03:51. > :03:54.with its existing funding. The message is the Fire Brigade one spot

:03:55. > :04:07.kick, City Hall will have to pay for it.

:04:08. > :04:15.How can we afford all this without the government's help? There will be

:04:16. > :04:20.problems in the future for the London Fire Brigade. Let's fund our

:04:21. > :04:24.Fire Brigade properly and I ask the Home Secretary, think again. Sadiq

:04:25. > :04:27.Khan has been elected the Mayor of London and understands the situation

:04:28. > :04:33.in London and he has made that call and he is doing it for a reason.

:04:34. > :04:35.The Mayor says paying for the new kit could mean scenes

:04:36. > :04:38.like this in the coming years with the potential for fire station

:04:39. > :04:41.closures and the loss of jobs as was seen three years ago

:04:42. > :04:46.The Home Secretary's letter says City Hall is getting enough money

:04:47. > :04:51.People living on the canals near Tottenham say more needs to be

:04:52. > :04:54.done to protect them after a spate of violent attacks.

:04:55. > :04:57.There've been at least eight thefts in just over a week -

:04:58. > :05:01.some of which saw people threatened with knives or assaulted.

:05:02. > :05:04.All the victims were punched and kicked whilst

:05:05. > :05:06.they were on the floor, even after relinquishing

:05:07. > :05:14.That shows and demonstrates the people we're dealing with here.

:05:15. > :05:17.Next, she went from soap star to pop star, but then Martine McCutcheon

:05:18. > :05:20.The former EastEnders actress has opened up

:05:21. > :05:22.about her years of ill health, sometimes struggling

:05:23. > :05:27.Now, at the age of 41, she's attempting a career comeback.

:05:28. > :05:31.It was the last in a long line of things.

:05:32. > :05:37.From finding fame as barmaid Tiffany in Eastenders

:05:38. > :05:51.# This is my moment, this is my perfect moment with you...

:05:52. > :05:57.Martine McCutcheon shot to stardom on stage and screen,

:05:58. > :06:02.it seemed she had it all, but then she lost everything.

:06:03. > :06:08.Things were bad, there were things I couldn't get up and move at all,

:06:09. > :06:12.The one thing I could do that cost nothing was just

:06:13. > :06:17.She had been diagnosed with ME and Lyme disease,

:06:18. > :06:21.but as she wrote about the difficult times an idea for a new album

:06:22. > :06:31.# The stars around the constellation...

:06:32. > :06:35.Aptly titled Lost And Found the songs tell the story

:06:36. > :06:41.Do you feel quite vulnerable putting it out there because it is all you,

:06:42. > :06:43.it is very personal, it is very raw?

:06:44. > :06:47.At first it is very exciting and then I went oh.

:06:48. > :06:52.All this stuff that was so personal to me is going to be out there.

:06:53. > :06:57.But I also think that is probably why it has connected so well

:06:58. > :07:00.because there are a lot of people who go out as well,

:07:01. > :07:04.pretending to have this brave, perfect face and they can sometimes

:07:05. > :07:07.be crumbling inside and hopefully they can own the songs and make

:07:08. > :07:10.them their own and relate to some of the stuff.

:07:11. > :07:14.So hopefully some good has come out of the dark times, you know.

:07:15. > :07:17.She credits her husband, songwriter Jack McManus,

:07:18. > :07:24.Home is now in South Mawsley and she says she couldn't be happier.

:07:25. > :07:28.I do love driving up the A3 starting to feel the softness of Surrey

:07:29. > :07:35.It has taken a long time, but how lucky am I?

:07:36. > :07:39.How lucky am I that I have got a lovely family and a lovely

:07:40. > :07:51.That takes us to the weather then with Lucy Martin.

:07:52. > :07:58.Yesterday we were receiving photos like these, some very wet scenes,

:07:59. > :08:01.but fast forward to today and it was a much drier,

:08:02. > :08:04.brighter picture, with even some blue skies coming in.

:08:05. > :08:08.Here's what's going on in the charts.

:08:09. > :08:11.High pressure pushing in from the south-west.

:08:12. > :08:14.We're seeing the back of the weather front that brought the rain

:08:15. > :08:15.yesterday clearing out to the south-east.

:08:16. > :08:18.It won't be long before the next weather front

:08:19. > :08:20.brings outbreaks of rain, but for this afternoon it looks

:08:21. > :08:23.like it will be largely dry with good spells of sunshine.

:08:24. > :08:26.If we put the detail onto the map, the best of the brightness always

:08:27. > :08:30.Most people staying dry but there's the chance

:08:31. > :08:35.where the cloud becomes thick enough.

:08:36. > :08:37.Temperatures reaching a maximum of 21-22 Celsius.

:08:38. > :08:40.As we move through this evening the cloud will

:08:41. > :08:46.Overnight the cloud melting away which will allow temperatures

:08:47. > :08:48.to fall away to an overnight low of 10-12 Celsius.

:08:49. > :08:51.There's the chance of seeing the odd patch of mist forming first thing.

:08:52. > :08:54.A fairly fresh but bright start to the day tomorrow,

:08:55. > :08:58.The cloud will tend to increase as the weather front moves

:08:59. > :09:01.in from the North West, bringing some showery outbreaks

:09:02. > :09:09.Just one or two showers to look out for on Saturday.

:09:10. > :09:17.Riz will be here with all the latest on our 6:30 evening programme.

:09:18. > :09:20.For now though have a lovely afternoon.

:09:21. > :09:41.Being on stage or screen doesn't faze these celebrities.

:09:42. > :09:46.But how will they manage on MasterChef?

:09:47. > :09:47.You need a bigger toaster. Do you think?

:09:48. > :09:53.It will be tasty. Are you telling me?

:09:54. > :09:57.Are you letting me loose with a blowtorch? Argh!
