0:00:00 > 0:00:13deadline for him to resign. That is all from the BBC News

0:00:13 > 0:00:14Welcome to BBC London News.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17I'm Sara Orchard.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20People from black and minority ethnic groups and those

0:00:20 > 0:00:21from poorer backgrounds feel they didn't receive

0:00:21 > 0:00:26adequate care and support while suffering from cancer.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30A report by Macmillan Cancer Support also found twice as many respondents

0:00:30 > 0:00:32from black and minority ethnic backgrounds felt

0:00:32 > 0:00:33doctors talked to them

0:00:33 > 0:00:36as if they weren't in the room, compared to white patients.

0:00:36 > 0:00:41Tolu Adeoye has been finding out more.

0:00:41 > 0:00:48I am here at a hospital in north London, hundreds of cancer patients

0:00:48 > 0:00:56are treated here every year. There is a report by Macmillan then found

0:00:56 > 0:01:03poorer people report worse experiences. Chris, tell me more

0:01:03 > 0:01:08about the details from this report. The report highlights that for

0:01:08 > 0:01:11people living with cancer in the capital, they are saying things like

0:01:11 > 0:01:16they don't feel like they are getting enough care and support from

0:01:16 > 0:01:21our health and social services. The picture is similar for our ethnic

0:01:21 > 0:01:24minority communities, they are saying for example when they are

0:01:24 > 0:01:30given the diagnosis the information isn't always understandable so

0:01:30 > 0:01:34Macmillan are calling on all people to spend more time listening to the

0:01:34 > 0:01:41needs and issues and also the assets of our various communities,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43particularly our seldom heard communities.Do you have any

0:01:43 > 0:01:50information on why this might be, why it is poorer communities?Health

0:01:50 > 0:01:54inequalities are complex so our report is calling on all people

0:01:54 > 0:01:57involved, not just the NHS but all partners to spend more time

0:01:57 > 0:02:02listening to the needs of people living with cancer and that's why

0:02:02 > 0:02:06Macmillan are launching the London cancer community, to do that and

0:02:06 > 0:02:10make sure we spend time designing and co-designing the solutions with

0:02:10 > 0:02:15people living with cancer to address some inequalities highlighted in our

0:02:15 > 0:02:20report.The NHS England says the majority of Londoners do have good

0:02:20 > 0:02:24experiences but they say they recognise some of the issues in the

0:02:24 > 0:02:28report and they are working with organisations like Macmillan to

0:02:28 > 0:02:29improve cancer care for everybody.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31The night overground is coming to London

0:02:31 > 0:02:32in less than a month.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35There are already late night services on parts of the underground

0:02:35 > 0:02:37but from Friday 15th December, Londoners will also be able

0:02:37 > 0:02:40to travel between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction on Friday

0:02:40 > 0:02:45and Saturday nights.

0:02:45 > 0:02:50We think this will benefit two parts of London's population, firstly

0:02:50 > 0:02:54those involved in the night-time economy so if you are involved in

0:02:54 > 0:02:59the entertainment business and want to get to and from work it will be

0:02:59 > 0:03:05right for you. And those who work early shifts on a Saturday or Sunday

0:03:05 > 0:03:08morning, or late in the evening, this will be for you.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Every year BBC London honours one of the unsung heroes

0:03:11 > 0:03:12of the capital's sporting community.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14This year's winner has helped thousands of children

0:03:14 > 0:03:16and young people in Middlesex at Bedfont Sports Club.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Dave Reader has raised millions of pounds to improve their facility

0:03:19 > 0:03:20in his 30 years with the club.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Here's what happened when we presented him

0:03:22 > 0:03:26with his award.

0:03:26 > 0:03:31If you go back 33 years, it was divine intervention that brought

0:03:31 > 0:03:37Dave Reader and Bedfont Sports Club together. The local vicar knocked on

0:03:37 > 0:03:41my door with a football kit and directions to meet all the boys

0:03:41 > 0:03:48outside the local youth club, good luck, and disappeared into the

0:03:48 > 0:03:53darkness. God does move in mysterious ways! When Dave set it up

0:03:53 > 0:03:59it was an abandoned field with burnt out cars on it, now it is a football

0:03:59 > 0:04:03stadium, £2 million complex that's been built over the last 15, 20

0:04:03 > 0:04:08years, the heartbeat of the local community. It is probably the most

0:04:08 > 0:04:14impressive facility in Middlesex. Now boasting 12 pitches, 29 football

0:04:14 > 0:04:18teams use the facility, along with martial arts and boxing classes, and

0:04:18 > 0:04:28it has come from the 2.5 million fundraising efforts of Dave.He has

0:04:28 > 0:04:30taken hundreds of kids off the street, got them into sport. He has

0:04:30 > 0:04:34helped me a lot because when I first started here, he used to come and

0:04:34 > 0:04:39pick me up sometimes and take me to training.Dave is teaching our boys

0:04:39 > 0:04:43to play football but he's also introduced myself and my husband to

0:04:43 > 0:04:49a whole new group of parents. There is a young daughter in one of my

0:04:49 > 0:04:54friend does teams who wanted to play football in a girls' team, now they

0:04:54 > 0:05:00have 24 girls coming in to start a team.Even heart failure in 2000

0:05:00 > 0:05:07twelfths didn't hold Dave back.You are the unsung hero of the year!And

0:05:07 > 0:05:13that's why he's been named the BBC London unsung hero 2017.I'm never

0:05:13 > 0:05:18going to be a millionaire but I have a millionaire in my heart.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20As we've been hearing today, it's the Queen

0:05:20 > 0:05:22and Prince Philip's wedding anniversary, but they aren't

0:05:22 > 0:05:24the only ones celebrating this year.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27Ted and Doris Box also married in 1947.

0:05:27 > 0:05:32They met at primary school and married a few days before Ted

0:05:32 > 0:05:33was sent abroad on military service.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35So what is the secret to a 70-year marriage?

0:05:35 > 0:05:40Sarah Harris reports.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44Leaving their home in Chingford for a very special day out to celebrate

0:05:44 > 0:05:49their 70 years of marriage. Ted and Doris didn't get a honeymoon so on

0:05:49 > 0:05:56the day the Queen and Prince Philip married, we are taking them to the

0:05:56 > 0:06:01same place the royal couple heart bears. Ted said he wouldn't have

0:06:01 > 0:06:07changed his wife for anyone.I have loved her and she has loved me back,

0:06:07 > 0:06:13she has been my best friend all these years and that is it, I just

0:06:13 > 0:06:17love everything about her.Elisabeth and Philip came back here for many

0:06:17 > 0:06:22years to celebrate their anniversaries. It was a friend's

0:06:22 > 0:06:27stately home back then, now a 5-star hotel. Meanwhile Ted and Doris met

0:06:27 > 0:06:31at primary school in Highbury and after their wedding he was posted to

0:06:31 > 0:06:35Palestine as part of his National Service.

0:06:35 > 0:06:40You missed out on your honeymoon and it was here that the Queen and

0:06:40 > 0:06:46Prince Philip at bears, what do you think? It is really lovely, even

0:06:46 > 0:06:51just a drive through it.It gives me great pleasure to present you with a

0:06:51 > 0:06:55unique one-off...Justin Robinson was able to give them one more

0:06:55 > 0:07:00surprise, against child on the one given to the Royal couple, who they

0:07:00 > 0:07:09say they admire.I'm sure they know it all, I shouldn't think they want

0:07:09 > 0:07:17any advice from us. Obviously, you know, it is just enjoying company

0:07:17 > 0:07:21and doing everything together, sharing everything and being honest

0:07:21 > 0:07:29with each other.They have had a much busier life, haven't they?I

0:07:29 > 0:07:38did hear once about Prince Philip having a lot of tolerance.

0:07:38 > 0:07:42Congratulations to them.And congratulations to Ted and Doris.In

0:07:42 > 0:07:49fact we couldn't live without one another, could we?No.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52Now the weather with Kate Kinsella.

0:07:52 > 0:07:53Now the weather with Kate Kinsella.

0:07:53 > 0:07:57It has been a predominantly cloudy day so far with outbreaks of rowing,

0:07:57 > 0:08:02it was quite a damp start of the day. Light patchy rain, most of

0:08:02 > 0:08:09which has disappeared but we will hang on to this cloud. We hang onto

0:08:09 > 0:08:14this mild air for the next few days. Some of the cloud thick enough to

0:08:14 > 0:08:19produce light rain and drizzle through the afternoon, but

0:08:19 > 0:08:23predominantly dry foremost. A bit of a breeze developing, we hang onto

0:08:23 > 0:08:27that overnight. It will be mild overnight, the temperature not

0:08:27 > 0:08:33really dropping. Some light rain making its way from west to east. It

0:08:33 > 0:08:39starts off grey but the temperature not very cool, ten or 11 Celsius so

0:08:39 > 0:08:51I'll start on Tuesday. For Tuesday, quite a bit of cloud around but

0:08:51 > 0:08:53brighter spells and glimmers of sunshine, especially into the

0:08:53 > 0:08:55afternoon. Predominantly cloudy but the temperature is still my old. As

0:08:55 > 0:08:59we head into Wednesday, we are hanging onto this mild air, 15

0:08:59 > 0:09:04Celsius in central London as a top temperature, above-average for the

0:09:04 > 0:09:09time of year. Potentially rain and a mild night into Thursday, then we

0:09:09 > 0:09:12might see the cloud break-up and some glimmers of sunshine. It gets

0:09:12 > 0:09:16cooler towards the end the week.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18That's about it from me, Riz Lateef will be here

0:09:18 > 0:09:20with our 6:30 evening programme.

0:09:20 > 0:09:25But for now, from us all, a very good afternoon.
