0:00:00 > 0:00:00certainly didn't stick by the spirit.

0:00:00 > 0:00:13That's it, so goodbye from me.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Good afternoon, I'm Asad Ahmad.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17London City Airport and a stretch of the Docklands Light Railway

0:00:17 > 0:00:20are likely to be closed all day after a half tonne

0:00:20 > 0:00:25World War II bomb was found in the River Thames.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Residents leaving within a 200 metre exclusion zone of the airport

0:00:28 > 0:00:30were evacuated last night, as the Royal Navy tries

0:00:30 > 0:00:34to make the device safe.

0:00:34 > 0:00:40The airport was supposed to handle 16,000 passengers today.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Tolu Adeoye has been in the area this morning.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44You can probably see the empty runway behind me.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Normally, you would expect planes to be coming and going

0:00:47 > 0:00:48every 20 minutes or so.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51But every flight has been cancelled, after that World War II bomb

0:00:51 > 0:00:53was discovered yesterday morning at 5am at King George V dock,

0:00:53 > 0:00:57next to the airport.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00We understand around 260 arrivals and departures have been cancelled,

0:01:00 > 0:01:04affecting 16,000 passengers.

0:01:04 > 0:01:08The Met and the Royal Navy are working to make this bomb safe.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11It's weighing in at around 500 kilograms.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14We've heard from the CEO of City Airport, Robert Sinclair.

0:01:14 > 0:01:18He's apologised for the inconvenience to passengers.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20There is also a cordon in place, a 200 metre cordon,

0:01:20 > 0:01:21which is affecting local residents.

0:01:21 > 0:01:27Many of them have been moved into emergency accommodation.

0:01:27 > 0:01:32Now, this airport runs domestic and European flights.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Airlines including Flybe, CityJet, Lufthansa having

0:01:34 > 0:01:38to cancel flights today.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42We understand some flights have been moved to neighbouring airports,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Southend, Stansted airports, but still, lots of

0:01:44 > 0:01:45disruption for passengers.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47A number of roads have also been cordoned off.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54The DLR has been suspended between Woolwich, Arsenal and City Airport.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57We understand the Woolwich Ferry is running.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Now, it isn't uncommon to find World War II bombs across London.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02It is unlikely they will explode, but they do pose a risk,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04which is why precautions like these have been taken.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07City Airport believe the schedule should be back up

0:02:07 > 0:02:14and running by tomorrow.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17And just to remind you that you can get all the latest travel news

0:02:17 > 0:02:20affecting that part of London and elsewhere on BBC Radio London

0:02:20 > 0:02:25or take a look at our Twitter feed.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Real animal fur labelled as fake fur has been found on sale

0:02:28 > 0:02:31in London's markets.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35A BBC London investigation found items, which upon

0:02:35 > 0:02:40further examination, contained rabbit hair,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42racoon dog and mink, at stalls where buyers thought

0:02:42 > 0:02:43the fur was fake.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Animal rights campaigners say animal fur is now

0:02:47 > 0:02:49being farmed on such a scale that it's cheaper,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51than its "fake" alternative.

0:02:51 > 0:02:56Alex Bushill investigates.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Our investigation starts here, Camden market.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00One of the most famous markets in the world.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02And with a secret camera, we joined the crowds

0:03:02 > 0:03:04looking for a purchase, a coat with a fur trim.

0:03:04 > 0:03:21This is the coat that we have just bought.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24It even has a label on it saying 100% polyester.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25So, no animal fur here then.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Only one way to be sure.

0:03:28 > 0:03:34Dr Phil Greaves is the country's leading microfibre expert.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37So we asked him to run all the tests needed

0:03:37 > 0:03:38to find out for sure if this

0:03:39 > 0:03:40was real fur or faux fur.

0:03:40 > 0:03:41What is it?

0:03:41 > 0:03:43It's animal fibre, because it's got the structural features that

0:03:43 > 0:03:45only animal fibres have.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48It's got an external margin of scales, internal structure,

0:03:48 > 0:03:50pigment within the fibres.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53It's of two coats, and the fibres taper towards their tip.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54That's 100% certain?

0:03:54 > 0:03:59100%.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02In all, we bought garments from 17 stalls and shops from across London

0:04:02 > 0:04:05from Stratford to Shepherd's Bush market, from bobble hats to key

0:04:05 > 0:04:06rings and shoes with pom-poms.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Again and again, we were sold fake fur that turned out

0:04:09 > 0:04:10actually to be real fur.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25And again in Shepherd's Bush market.

0:04:33 > 0:04:34And then in Stratford, many of those stallholders say that

0:04:36 > 0:04:42at that price it has to be fake fur.

0:04:42 > 0:04:43Real fur, they say, is expensive.

0:04:43 > 0:04:44Well, not any more.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47According to the Humane Society, and animal rights charity,

0:04:47 > 0:04:49According to the Humane Society, an animal rights charity,

0:04:49 > 0:04:50that is a common misconception.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53They say, in fact, real fur can now be so much

0:04:53 > 0:04:54cheaper than synthetic fur.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56I think a lot of people think that fur is expensive,

0:04:56 > 0:05:00and would look at a £10 bobble hat and not think for a second

0:05:00 > 0:05:01that it could be real fur.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03And we just encourage people to really be careful not

0:05:03 > 0:05:08to sleepwalk into buying real fur and supporting it.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11We asked everyone who sold us real fur as faux fur

0:05:11 > 0:05:12to explain themselves.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Some simply didn't comment, like these two, so we don't know

0:05:15 > 0:05:17if they themselves were victims duped by their suppliers.

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Others, like this lady, said she was shocked

0:05:19 > 0:05:22and that she relied on the label and was assured by her supply

0:05:22 > 0:05:25and that she relied on the label and was assured by her supplier

0:05:25 > 0:05:26it wasn't real fur.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28She has now removed the items from sale.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30Which all leads to one inescapable thought.

0:05:30 > 0:05:37If so many of the shops and stalls that sell fur don't really know

0:05:37 > 0:05:39what they're selling, how on earth are we, the consumer,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42to know what the fur trim on our coat or the bobble on our hat

0:05:43 > 0:05:44is really made of?

0:05:44 > 0:05:47Alex Bushill, BBC London News.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50And you can see more on that story on Inside Out London.

0:05:50 > 0:05:57Tonight at 7:30pm on BBC One.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01A clutch of Britain's finest actors star in a new film shot,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03in part, on a council housing estate near Tower Bridge.

0:06:03 > 0:06:05Finding Your Feet stars Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie,

0:06:05 > 0:06:12and Joanna Lumley among others and it's about a middle-aged

0:06:12 > 0:06:15snob, let's say, who finds romance in the most unlikely place.

0:06:15 > 0:06:20Wendy Hurrell has more.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23In her posh Surrey home, Sandra puts on a party for her husband's

0:06:23 > 0:06:26retirement, and looks forward to a new life with him.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28I've been planning our retirement for the last 35 years.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30Except, those plans come to an abrupt stop.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33What the hell's going on?

0:06:33 > 0:06:34We were just...

0:06:34 > 0:06:36It's not what it looks like, Sandra.

0:06:36 > 0:06:42So, Imelda Staunton's character moves in

0:06:42 > 0:06:45with her sister, living in quite different surroundings on an East

0:06:45 > 0:06:46London council estate.

0:06:46 > 0:06:47KIDS SHOUT.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49How important do you think it is that films such

0:06:49 > 0:06:51as this one are made, where there are central

0:06:51 > 0:06:54female characters of a more mature age?

0:06:54 > 0:06:56You've cornered the market, quite frankly.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58LAUGHTER.

0:06:58 > 0:07:04I'm trying to get into her audience. I need her audience!

0:07:04 > 0:07:07I watched again one of my most favourite films, All About Eve,

0:07:07 > 0:07:11and I saw Bette Davis being interviewed before,

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and she was saying that her life was being, you know,

0:07:14 > 0:07:20paralleled in the film.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23Because a woman of 40...

0:07:23 > 0:07:26And she talks about she'd just turned 40 three months ago.

0:07:26 > 0:07:27That's it.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30For women, for actresses, in those days, that was it.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33And so, I'm thrilled to be able to say that I think

0:07:33 > 0:07:34things are changing.

0:07:34 > 0:07:36I really do.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39Finding Your Feet is in cinemas from next Friday.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41Go on Sandra, give it to him!

0:07:45 > 0:07:46Wendy Hurrell, BBC London News.

0:07:51 > 0:07:53They must have had so much fun making that film.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55Now the weather with Kate.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58Good afternoon, it was a cold start this morning, people waking up

0:07:58 > 0:08:00to quite a widespread frost, but also waking up to this,

0:08:00 > 0:08:03clear blue sky and sunshine.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Not much cloud throughout the course of this morning.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08We will see a bit more bubbling up into this afternoon,

0:08:08 > 0:08:11some decent, sunny spells, but it will still feel rather cold.

0:08:11 > 0:08:12It should stay dry.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15There is a slim chance you may get a bit of a shower

0:08:15 > 0:08:18and some thicker cloud, could be wintery over higher ground.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21Most places staying dry.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Temperatures getting up to eight Celsius.

0:08:23 > 0:08:24Overnight, that shower risk continues as it

0:08:25 > 0:08:27works its way up from the south.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29It could feel wintry.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32Lengthy, clear spells will mean the temperatures will get cold again

0:08:32 > 0:08:33with a minimum of 0 Celsius.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36A bright start for some, but quite quickly that cloud

0:08:36 > 0:08:38will move in and with it, the rain.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40Turning into a rather wet and breezy Tuesday,

0:08:40 > 0:08:42not very pleasant at all and not feeling especially warm, either.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45The maximum between three and six Celsius.

0:08:45 > 0:08:49That rain will clear away overnight on Tuesday and we will get a clear

0:08:49 > 0:08:53start for Wednesday morning.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55Chilly but gradually this front arrives through Wednesday afternoon

0:08:55 > 0:08:57and we will see it turn rather wet and breezy.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00All change, though, for Thursday, some slightly milder air moves in.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01Temperatures getting up to 11 Celsius.

0:09:01 > 0:09:07We should see the return of some sunshine for Thursday, as well.

0:09:10 > 0:09:11That's it.

0:09:11 > 0:09:15Victoria is here at 6:30pm tonight with our early evening news.

0:09:15 > 0:09:19Plenty more on our Facebook page and Twitter feed throughout the day.

0:09:19 > 0:09:22Until later, I hope you enjoy your afternoon.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25Goodbye.
