0:00:00 > 0:00:01That's all from the BBC News at One - so it's goodbye from me -
0:00:18 > 0:00:19Good afternoon, I'm Asad Ahmad.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30A number of flights have been cancelled,
0:00:30 > 0:00:31but the airfield remains open.
0:00:31 > 0:00:33For the latest, let's speak to Chris Rogers who's there.
0:00:34 > 0:00:39Chris.
0:00:39 > 0:00:45The details have only just emerged in the West are also. What we know
0:00:45 > 0:00:47from the London Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Police is just
0:00:47 > 0:00:51after six o'clock this morning, they were called to the taxiway near
0:00:51 > 0:00:56Terminal 5 weather had been a collision between two airport cars.
0:00:56 > 0:01:03One man, a driver, suffered a broken soldier and was token the hospital
0:01:03 > 0:01:06-- broken shoulder. Another man suffered a cardiac arrest.
0:01:06 > 0:01:10Paramedics battled for two hours to save his life and that continued in
0:01:10 > 0:01:15the ambulance but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. All
0:01:15 > 0:01:19of this witnessed by hundreds of stranded passengers who had boarded
0:01:19 > 0:01:24planes but could not take off. Many taking social media to explain what
0:01:24 > 0:01:27they could see. Bluelight, ambulances and are medics battling
0:01:27 > 0:01:33to save the man's life. Most passengers, around 25 flights, were
0:01:33 > 0:01:38affected and they had to head back into Terminal 5. Incidents like this
0:01:38 > 0:01:44rare. The Metropolitan Police Commissioner -- collision unit is
0:01:44 > 0:01:47investigating and flights are returning to normal. Sadly, a lot of
0:01:47 > 0:01:52colleagues of that man here at work today are trying to cope with the
0:01:52 > 0:01:54loss of their colleague who just came to work today like any other
0:01:54 > 0:02:02day.Indeed. Thanks very much.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05The National Childbirth Trust has found a quarter of new and expectant
0:02:05 > 0:02:07mums who reported mental health problems didn't get any help,
0:02:07 > 0:02:10leading to calls for urgent action to be taken.
0:02:10 > 0:02:12The findings focussed on an area in Surrey,
0:02:12 > 0:02:14where Amanda Akass has been speaking to a mother, who considered
0:02:14 > 0:02:19taking her own life.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22Lisa adored her baby son Dylan when he was born three years ago,
0:02:22 > 0:02:25but after the first few months, she became crippled by anxiety
0:02:25 > 0:02:29and believed she wasn't given the medication she needed.
0:02:29 > 0:02:33I was so anxious and so low that the only way that I felt that
0:02:33 > 0:02:42I couldn't be in that pain any more was to not be here.
0:02:42 > 0:02:44I wasn't planning a suicide, but it felt like it could get
0:02:45 > 0:02:47to that point if I wasn't helped.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49Emma also feels missed opportunities led to her developing
0:02:49 > 0:02:51postpartum psychosis.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54I was getting more and more paranoid.
0:02:55 > 0:02:57I was...
0:02:57 > 0:03:07I was thinking that everyone was talking about me.
0:03:11 > 0:03:21Emma says she was told she'd have to wait five months for counselling.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23When you are really in need and have to ask for help
0:03:23 > 0:03:25and you're not getting it, it is awful.
0:03:25 > 0:03:28At least one in ten women will experience a mental health
0:03:28 > 0:03:30problem during pregnancy or their baby's first year.
0:03:30 > 0:03:33But the East Surrey survey found more than a quarter of new mums
0:03:33 > 0:03:36who told NHS staff they had mental health problems didn't get any help.
0:03:36 > 0:03:39And only 38% said they were asked about their mental health
0:03:39 > 0:03:42by their GPs, despite NHS guidelines telling family doctors to do so.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45The survey was set up by local campaigner Sally Hogg.
0:03:45 > 0:03:48We know that the biggest cause of death for women in the latter
0:03:48 > 0:03:55part of the year after having a baby is suicide.
0:03:55 > 0:03:58Mental health is a killer of women in the UK, that is how
0:03:58 > 0:04:00seriously it needs to be taken.
0:04:00 > 0:04:03Local MP Sam Gyimah has now set up a working group of different NHS
0:04:03 > 0:04:05organisations to try and tackle the issue.
0:04:05 > 0:04:07There are lots of mothers suffering in silence.
0:04:07 > 0:04:12Suffering in silence because some of them don't even know it's
0:04:12 > 0:04:13a mental health problem.
0:04:13 > 0:04:16They have just had their baby, they don't know why they don't
0:04:16 > 0:04:20love their baby, why they are having panic attacks.
0:04:20 > 0:04:21And these are harrowing tales.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23East Surrey Hospitals Trust say that since the report
0:04:23 > 0:04:26was published last May, there is now much more
0:04:26 > 0:04:27support available.
0:04:27 > 0:04:30A teacher from North London has been named as one of the top-ten
0:04:30 > 0:04:31teachers in the world.
0:04:31 > 0:04:34Andria Zafirakou, who teaches Art at the Alperton Community School
0:04:34 > 0:04:36in Wembley, could win a million dollars and competed
0:04:36 > 0:04:39against thousands of hopefuls from over 150 countries to make it
0:04:39 > 0:04:46to the top ten.
0:04:46 > 0:04:49She says many children in Brent have to study while living in overcrowded
0:04:49 > 0:04:50and difficult conditions, but teachers are doing
0:04:50 > 0:04:55their best to help.
0:04:55 > 0:04:58I feel it's so important to ensure that when students come
0:04:58 > 0:05:00to the school, and their families, that they feel comfortable
0:05:00 > 0:05:03and they feel welcomed.
0:05:03 > 0:05:04And when you have a community...
0:05:04 > 0:05:07I mean, we have got 35 different languages in our school.
0:05:07 > 0:05:08It is beautifully diverse.
0:05:08 > 0:05:11And they are able to feel connected and they are able to feel
0:05:11 > 0:05:12that they want to be there.
0:05:12 > 0:05:16It's a very safe place for them.
0:05:16 > 0:05:21At the end of the day, it is all about our children, and every school
0:05:21 > 0:05:24teacher will say that. We don't worry about what is happening, it is
0:05:24 > 0:05:28what is happening in the classroom, how we can support our kids.
0:05:28 > 0:05:32Teachers know what is best for their students and at the end of the day,
0:05:32 > 0:05:36it doesn't matter. Policies come and go and our role is just to make sure
0:05:36 > 0:05:38that every child has a great experience.
0:05:38 > 0:05:40that every child has a great experience.
0:05:40 > 0:05:41Good luck to Ms Zafirakou.
0:05:41 > 0:05:44The winner will be announced next month.
0:05:44 > 0:05:48A new exhibition has opened at the Fashion
0:05:48 > 0:05:51and Textile Museum, in Bermondsey, and it's all about T-shirts.
0:05:51 > 0:05:52The exhibition charts the history and creativity
0:05:52 > 0:05:56of the T-shirt over the years, which often tell us
0:05:56 > 0:05:57something about the wearer too.
0:05:57 > 0:06:00Here's Ayshea Buksh.
0:06:00 > 0:06:05Often just a simple piece of clothing, the T-shirt can also be
0:06:05 > 0:06:07a canvas for high art or radical politics.
0:06:07 > 0:06:10This new exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum, in Bermondsey,
0:06:10 > 0:06:12charts its history.
0:06:12 > 0:06:14And as one of the world's street-fashion capitals,
0:06:14 > 0:06:20the curator believes London is the best place to show them off.
0:06:20 > 0:06:22London is a creative city, and many of the T-shirts
0:06:22 > 0:06:25that we actually have on display originated in London.
0:06:25 > 0:06:28And I think the London scene - in terms of graphics,
0:06:28 > 0:06:32music, fashion design - have all had their impact
0:06:32 > 0:06:34on the T-shirt, and I think that's represented here.
0:06:34 > 0:06:36More than 200 T-shirts are on display.
0:06:36 > 0:06:38Some are from the personal collections of fashion designers
0:06:38 > 0:06:43Vivienne Westwood and Katharine Hamnett.
0:06:43 > 0:06:47Others were donated by collectors from around the world.
0:06:47 > 0:06:50American artist and photographer Susan Barnett has spent nine years
0:06:50 > 0:06:52documenting the T-shirt-wearing public on both sides
0:06:52 > 0:06:55of the Atlantic.
0:06:55 > 0:06:58She started her study shortly after Barack Obama was elected.
0:06:58 > 0:07:00Over the years, the message has changed, and it's
0:07:01 > 0:07:05become a lot darker.
0:07:05 > 0:07:08There's more anger.
0:07:08 > 0:07:11There's more anger at the Government, anger at each other.
0:07:11 > 0:07:15Messages of hate, sadly.
0:07:15 > 0:07:19And one of the things that interests me is to see what happens.
0:07:19 > 0:07:21These are time capsules.
0:07:21 > 0:07:24So whether you want to show support for social activism
0:07:24 > 0:07:27or your favourite band, wear your T-shirt with pride.
0:07:27 > 0:07:37It may well be a collector's item in the future.
0:07:38 > 0:07:44And that was our correspondent modelling at the end.
0:07:44 > 0:07:48Finally, the half-tonne World War Two bomb which closed
0:07:48 > 0:07:50City Airport this week will be detonated in
0:07:50 > 0:07:53a controlled explosion today.
0:07:53 > 0:07:59The device was found at the King George V Dock at the weekend.
0:07:59 > 0:08:02It led to the complete closure of City Airport.
0:08:02 > 0:08:03Now the weather, with Georgina.
0:08:08 > 0:08:12Some brightness and cloud today as reflected in our pictures. This was
0:08:12 > 0:08:20taken into can. This morning. Thank you for that. And beautiful Sunrise
0:08:20 > 0:08:24captured in Cobham, in Surrey, said thank you for our pictures today.
0:08:24 > 0:08:30The next few hours sees wet weather and the wind strengthening further.
0:08:30 > 0:08:34Rain comment from the West, cloud building. Fairly fragmented for the
0:08:34 > 0:08:39most part and it will be persistent at at times. Temperatures up to
0:08:39 > 0:08:44seven, possibly eight Celsius with the southerly wind. This evening,
0:08:44 > 0:08:49the rain does push to the East. We are left with fairly clear skies for
0:08:49 > 0:08:54much of the night. Warm air is dragged in behind the rain and
0:08:54 > 0:08:58temperatures down to four, five Celsius so much milder than it has
0:08:58 > 0:09:03been recently. Saint cloud first thing and some rain. Otherwise, a
0:09:03 > 0:09:09mainly dry and bright day tomorrow with sunny spells. Less breeze from
0:09:09 > 0:09:14the West tomorrow and milder, with highs of 11 Celsius. We hold onto
0:09:14 > 0:09:17the Mall to weather for a number of days and we will see double figures.
0:09:17 > 0:09:18That's it.
0:09:18 > 0:09:21Riz will be here with our early evening and late news
0:09:21 > 0:09:22tonight on BBC One.
0:09:22 > 0:09:24Until then, whatever you're doing this afternoon,
0:09:24 > 0:09:25have a very good afternoon.
