0:00:22 > 0:00:25three "do not attempt resuscitation" forms were put on her medical
0:00:25 > 0:00:27records against her wishes.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29Carol Hall was in hospital last summer
0:00:29 > 0:00:31with a serious lung condition.
0:00:31 > 0:00:33Frimley Park Hospital says it's reviewing its current forms.
0:00:33 > 0:00:42Sophia Seth reports.
0:00:42 > 0:00:43Frightening.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46To think that they could have those forms and I didn't know
0:00:46 > 0:00:47anything about them.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50Carol has a degenerative lung condition called COPD.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52Last summer, a chest infection meant she was in and out
0:00:52 > 0:00:59of Frimley Park Hospital.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01In that time, she had three do not attempt
0:01:01 > 0:01:02resuscitation forms on her file.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05Both she and her husband told me they had no knowledge of them.
0:01:05 > 0:01:06That can't happen, things like that, but...
0:01:06 > 0:01:09And then I just brought her home because I thought, "No way
0:01:09 > 0:01:11is she going to stay there."
0:01:11 > 0:01:14All three forms said that Carol and her family agreed
0:01:14 > 0:01:24she shouldn't be resuscitated - something they disputed.
0:01:32 > 0:01:33Resuscitation has risks.
0:01:33 > 0:01:36Doctors are advised that a patient's wishes should always be considered
0:01:36 > 0:01:38but they don't have to give treatment if they believe it
0:01:38 > 0:01:39won't benefit the patient.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41However, medical guidelines state that doctors must provide honest
0:01:41 > 0:01:43and accurate record keeping of the process.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45I've contacted Frimley Park Hospital, but it says it cannot
0:01:45 > 0:01:46comment on this particular case.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48However, it says it understands the importance of good communication
0:01:48 > 0:01:49when it comes to issues around do not attempt cardiopulmonary
0:01:49 > 0:01:51resuscitation.
0:01:51 > 0:01:52The hospital also says it is reviewing its current forms
0:01:52 > 0:01:54to ensure they are as clear as possible for
0:01:54 > 0:01:56clinicians and patients.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59One charity has told us they have seen an increase in patients
0:01:59 > 0:02:02concerned about resuscitation forms.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05We know that doctors are under a lot of pressure and sometimes
0:02:05 > 0:02:09the communication isn't happening and sometimes I think they're almost
0:02:09 > 0:02:10frightened to have the conversation.
0:02:10 > 0:02:13They're worried the patient's going to be upset.
0:02:13 > 0:02:23There are no new recommendations for health care professionals.
0:02:23 > 0:02:24-- there are now new recommendations.
0:02:24 > 0:02:26They start by talking about the person's condition,
0:02:26 > 0:02:29the treatments that would help them to achieve what they want
0:02:29 > 0:02:32to achieve, and then going on to talk about treatments
0:02:32 > 0:02:34that wouldn't help them and that would be better avoided,
0:02:34 > 0:02:35including resuscitation.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37Carol is now receiving NHS care packages at home.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39She hopes nobody else goes through what she did.
0:02:39 > 0:02:41I would like to see that they are treated correctly,
0:02:41 > 0:02:46with care and compassion.
0:02:46 > 0:02:53Some people out there might not have any family to stick up for them.
0:02:53 > 0:02:54Some residents living in shipping containers
0:02:54 > 0:02:57converted into flats have complained that the units are too
0:02:57 > 0:02:59cold and expensive.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02Ealing Council says the use of the containers is a cheaper way
0:03:02 > 0:03:04to house people in temporary accommodation - and apologised
0:03:04 > 0:03:07for a recent problem with the bills.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10Here's Gareth Furby.
0:03:10 > 0:03:12They're shipping containers and now temporary homes.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15Opened in Hanwell in west London almost a year ago,
0:03:15 > 0:03:21and then in Acton three months ago, and hailed by Ealing
0:03:21 > 0:03:24by Ealing Council as a new way to help homeless families.
0:03:24 > 0:03:27So how is it working out?
0:03:27 > 0:03:28Not too well, according to some residents.
0:03:29 > 0:03:29Put your hand here.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31It's colder than outside.
0:03:31 > 0:03:32There's not enough heating.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34There are no radiators in the kitchen area
0:03:34 > 0:03:35or the passage or the bathroom.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38At night, you can't get out of bed because of the cold.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41They said, "If you don't like it, we'll take your name off the list
0:03:41 > 0:03:44and you can go with your family and sleep on the street."
0:03:44 > 0:03:46Ealing Council says it hasn't received any complaints
0:03:46 > 0:03:49but in another Acton container, we met a mother of three.
0:03:49 > 0:03:50It is just freezing.
0:03:50 > 0:03:51It is absolutely freezing.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53There is no heating in the bathroom.
0:03:53 > 0:03:56And she showed us documents which state that the rent has just
0:03:56 > 0:03:59gone up by 20% to £415 a week.
0:03:59 > 0:04:02That's around £1800 a month.
0:04:02 > 0:04:11Her payments are covered by benefits but she says that
0:04:11 > 0:04:15would mean her two-bed container costs around £400 a month more
0:04:15 > 0:04:18to rent than the two-bed house she had to leave.
0:04:18 > 0:04:20When we pointed out to Ealing Council that shipping
0:04:20 > 0:04:22containers were now apparently costing more than bricks and mortar,
0:04:22 > 0:04:23they said they'd made a mistake.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26We have made an error in the last two weeks in sending out
0:04:26 > 0:04:28a revised rent bill.
0:04:28 > 0:04:29That will be corrected immediately.
0:04:29 > 0:04:32The council says the converted containers are good value for money.
0:04:32 > 0:04:40About £1000 a month cheaper than bed and breakfast accommodation.
0:04:40 > 0:04:42We haven't received any complaints
0:04:42 > 0:04:44from residents about that at the moment so we will look
0:04:44 > 0:04:45into what has been said.
0:04:45 > 0:04:48We certainly hope that what we have provided is some very thermally
0:04:48 > 0:04:49comfortable accommodation.
0:04:49 > 0:04:51Ealing Council says conditions here are much better
0:04:51 > 0:04:59than in a B&B but it will investigate all complaints.
0:04:59 > 0:05:02A man who was jailed for carrying out a series of attacks
0:05:02 > 0:05:05in the Home Counties - including on a ten year old -
0:05:05 > 0:05:06has died in prison.
0:05:06 > 0:05:09Antoni Imiela, who became known as the M25 rapist,
0:05:09 > 0:05:11passed away yesterday, just months after he was told he had
0:05:11 > 0:05:13been referred for parole.
0:05:13 > 0:05:15He was given seven life sentences with a minimum term
0:05:15 > 0:05:21of eight years in 2004.
0:05:21 > 0:05:24The opening ceremony of the Winter Paralympics
0:05:24 > 0:05:26took place this morning in South Korea.

0:05:46 > 0:05:48For 27 years, this company has had disabled and non-disabled
0:05:48 > 0:05:54dancers performing together on the same stage.
0:05:54 > 0:05:57I enjoy the conversation around disability, around body,
0:05:57 > 0:05:59about what they're seeing onstage and what is not seen
0:05:59 > 0:06:02and I think that is a really important part of Candoco.
0:06:02 > 0:06:05In the rehearsal rooms at Sadlers Wells, the final practice
0:06:05 > 0:06:08for tonight and tomorrow's double bill show.
0:06:08 > 0:06:11We have different abilities, conditions, so when a choreographer
0:06:11 > 0:06:16comes into the company and works with us, you know, they just
0:06:16 > 0:06:19cannot make assumptions about how we function.
0:06:19 > 0:06:24We have a much more collaborative environment.
0:06:24 > 0:06:27We bring in as our tools my crutches or a wheelchair etc.
0:06:27 > 0:06:29That's all part of who we are.
0:06:29 > 0:06:32We make it our own because we all dancers are a big part
0:06:32 > 0:06:35of the creation process as well.
0:06:35 > 0:06:37Then the whole company is heading to Pyeongchang
0:06:37 > 0:06:41for the winter Paralympics.
0:06:41 > 0:06:45It is so relevant globally and where the UK stands in terms
0:06:45 > 0:06:49of diversity is one place, and we do visit places
0:06:49 > 0:06:58where it is less prevalent.
0:06:58 > 0:07:03We're going to Korea on Sunday?
0:07:03 > 0:07:05I think we are going on Sunday!
0:07:05 > 0:07:08My bag is packed over there.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10Another chance to put their inclusive message
0:07:10 > 0:07:12on the world stage.
0:07:12 > 0:07:14They performed with Coldplay at the 2012
0:07:14 > 0:07:19Paralympics closing ceremony.
0:07:19 > 0:07:24There has been a huge shift that I think affected us all.
0:07:24 > 0:07:26The whole ecology is different now.
0:07:26 > 0:07:32But I think there is a long way to go.
0:07:32 > 0:07:34It's the end of an era for the NME music newspaper -

0:07:38 > 0:07:42The New Musical Express documented the rise of British pop

0:07:44 > 0:07:48in the '60s and punk in the '70s.
0:07:48 > 0:07:54Now the weather with Elizabeth Rizzini.
0:07:54 > 0:07:56Now the weather with Elizabeth Rizzini.
0:07:56 > 0:07:57Hello, good afternoon.
0:07:57 > 0:08:00It was a cold and frosty start to the day for many of us.
0:08:00 > 0:08:03A few early mist patches about but also some sunshine.
0:08:03 > 0:08:05But it wasn't too long, of course, before the cloud started to thicken,
0:08:05 > 0:08:08and that's what we've got here in this Weather
0:08:08 > 0:08:09Watcher picture.
0:08:09 > 0:08:12It's all paving the way for a weather front to sweep in.
0:08:12 > 0:08:15It is going to bring some outbreaks of rain before the end of the day
0:08:15 > 0:08:16but also some milder air.
0:08:16 > 0:08:19So the weekend is looking a lot milder but there will be some rain
0:08:20 > 0:08:21around at times as well.
0:08:21 > 0:08:22Certainly quite of rain about this afternoon.
0:08:22 > 0:08:25That is going to be pushing in from the south-west,
0:08:25 > 0:08:27light and patchy at first, then we will start getting the odd
0:08:27 > 0:08:29heavy burst here and there.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31A soggy and blustery end to the day.
0:08:31 > 0:08:33Top temperatures between eight, maybe as high as ten
0:08:33 > 0:08:35degrees, so wet and windy through the evening rush-hour.
0:08:35 > 0:08:37That rain continues to feed in on the south-westerly breeze.
0:08:37 > 0:08:39We will see the odd heavier burst, I think.
0:08:39 > 0:08:42It will just be on and off through the course of the night.
0:08:42 > 0:08:44A cloudy, damp start to the day tomorrow.
0:08:44 > 0:08:47Possibly some more outbreaks of rain but mild, seven to nine Celsius.
0:08:47 > 0:08:49Then tomorrow, we're likely to see a drier,
0:08:49 > 0:08:52brighter slot through the middle of the day and in this brightness,
0:08:52 > 0:08:55we could see temperatures rise to 14 or even perhaps 15 Celsius but it
0:08:55 > 0:08:58will probably be followed by another spell of rain as we head
0:08:58 > 0:08:59towards the end of the day.
0:08:59 > 0:09:01Possibly some brighter skies out towards the west
0:09:01 > 0:09:02just before sundown.
0:09:02 > 0:09:05Temperatures, as I said, between 12, maybe as high as 15 Celsius.
0:09:05 > 0:09:06Mother's Day is on Sunday.
0:09:06 > 0:09:09It is going to be quite misty and foggy through the morning.
0:09:09 > 0:09:12We will probably see some afternoon brightness but watch out
0:09:12 > 0:09:14for one or two showers, which we could see
0:09:14 > 0:09:17by the end of the day.
0:09:17 > 0:09:18That's about it from me.
0:09:18 > 0:09:21Riz Lateef will be here with our 6:30 evening programme.
0:09:21 > 0:09:25But for now, from us all, a very good afternoon.
